Possibly in some cases, but I think that it is mainly there to help and not try to brainwash.

Therapy is to help you deal with what you are going through. It is not brain washing. And the fact your friend is happy, you should be excited about that. Its just a new normal for her.

so? would you rather her be depressed? wouldn't you want her to be happy? sure it's a change, but it's her now, and you can either accept her or not.

the thing is that she wasnt depressed in the first place....her parents thought she wasnt religious enough...

so they sent her to therapy? that's irrational on their part, but the fact remains that she is who she is now. really? they sent her for that? i'm glad they aren't my parents.

Look, yes, hypnotists like me can brainwash you, and no, hypnosis aint just pocketwatches, its to do with certain synapses in the main cortex and the cerrebellum mainly, we can make you do anything but people like me arent that evil.

yeah i think that its brianwashing. thats why whenever a kid actually notices what life is when the parents want them to be a little kid but have a job send them to conciling. its all about making them think there something there not happy/smart/confident/calm

They disproved backmasking back in the late 80's. And as for therapy in general...

I think it depends on the ethics of the therapist more than anything. A good therapist will try to help their patient, and that may require "rewiring" some of the ways that that person thinks if those ways are selfdestructive (example: obsessive compulsive disorder). A less ethical therapist may try a reprogramming technique because it's faster and simpler than trying to diagnose or solve the problem through less drastic measures.

Though to be honest, if the friend who went to therapy and is unnaturally happy now, that sounds more like drug therapy than anything.

no well i mean if done by the right person with the right intentions then deffinately not! its more like to help people see there lives and problems in a different way so they make more sense. Or to help people see them in a healthier way that is not self distructive
