View Full Version : World peace?

Peace would only be acheived through 100% equality, and even then it would not be acheived, man has only one wish in life, and that wish is 'more' summing up all other subsidites of this wish.
He would envy all other men wishing to prove he was wealthier and in the long term had a better life than them, therefore destroying the peace that had been created.
Every time someone felt pain, that would destroy peace, and every time some pleasant thing happened to only a select number of persons that would also disrupt the peace.
In my belief world peace is a vote for communism and a vote for either of the two is a vote for subsequent unbalance leading once more to the first level of anarchy.

I'm all up for world peace.
I think everyone should just be nice :]
End all wars, stop murders, shootings and things like that.
That would never ever happen though, I can always dream.
It just makes me sad to think that people could actually physically want to kill someone else.
World peace would be great, the best thing ever.

I can't really understand why though.
Because if there was world peace it would mean they were equal to everyone else, they want more social status, monetary status and altogether more power.

Because if there was world peace it would mean they were equal to everyone else, they want more social status, monetary status and altogether more power.
Isn't that TOTALLY irrational? I was always wondering if all these people that live for power can ever feel REALLY happy.
My theory in short:
Yes, I believe that world peace is something that will never EVER happen! And this is because to achieve it we, people, have to compromise. And that is the hardest thing to do! Just not think only for our own good but for others as well.
I know it is sad, but I still hope... ("you may say I'm a dreamer...") For I am sure that others think like I do too. ("...but I'm not the only one...") And I do believe that these people are not weak and that they can drag along others. ("...I hope some day you'll join us...")
I can't say that the world can "live as one" but it surely can get better! All we have to do is respect one another...

I like the idea of world peace, however I know it will never happen. As years go by, this earth will only get worse and worse.

I believe that world peace would ultimately end human civilization for at least a period.
World peace would mean at it's loosest definition that there is no competition whatsoever. What would this mean? Technologic and economic stagnation. In a society with fluidly changing dynamics, stagnation is the worst thing that could happen short of nuclear holocaust. Stagnation means that everything would stay the same- there could be no business better than another, everyone would have to agree on everything completely, nice in theory, impossible in reality. Therefore, nothing would happen, everything built would decay. Civilization would literally go backwards. In the resulting anarchy, the "world peace" would most likely switch to the polar opposite.
And subordinate boy, communism isn't evil or a swearword, it's a system that's been bastardized by the tyrants that have incorporated themselves into the theory, so it's not pure Marxism, it's Marx-Stalinism, or Marx-Guevarra-ism. I know you probably didn't intend it that way, I just wanted to be clear.

The thought of 100% equality scares me a bit...How boring. But it would be nice without wars and stuff.

Yup, I suppose so, but how is there ever going to be peace without war, the first stage to peace is some form of war, that way one ideal can win, all other ideals must firstly be silenced.
'If you wish for peace you must firstly prepare for war.'

Exactly. Neither can exist without the other, which is true for most juxtaposing pairs in this balanced yet unbalanced theorem of existence.

I think the reason why we don't have peace is because peace is different for everyone. Some people think peace to be blowing up other people and starting wars. While others see it to be equality and ensuring everyone has civil rights. So, who knows, maybe there will never be peace. In a few years, will everyone change their views and we will all be the same? Will every human being one day think the same as another?
Of course, that's a question for the future, so someone else for that time will have to answer it. How, I don't know.
