Well, I really don't like emo style and the way every person that belongs to it looks exactly like all the others. I can't understand that. They say that they are different and that they are critisised by others about that but they are actually all the same!
They ware the same clothes, they listen to the exact same music and they say the exact same stuff.
I would never reject someone though for just being emo it's just that all the emo people I know have nothing important to offer to me, and they are not people I can have a serious discussion about anything else than MCR or BFMV (bands that I don't even like) let alone hang out with...

Secondly, if you say you hate emo's and emo music and then someone goes and tells you that one of your favourite bands is emo, you don't stop liking them. That is stupid and because My chemical Romance are your favorite band, you do like emo music and stopping liking them is just like ridiculous!

Personally, I hate labels. They're just another way to say "I'm better than you" or "I'm richer than you". And even though I hate them, I still get them. I'm labeled as emo at my school. For what reason, I don't know. After a while, the label sticks to you and you realize that you kind of do act like that. But I have to live with people like you saying stupid things like that just because you want to fit in and you want people to like you. You have no idea what label you are hon! From my end, you'd be a prep. You abbriviate your words, you say "lol" a lot, etc. You don't seem like the brightest person when you do that, and labels say that preps aren't the smartest kids in the world. That's not me talking. That's society and the people who have to discriminate. So sorry if you take that the wrong way. Labeling happens everywhere.

I agree sis. I mean music is supposed to make you enjoy life if nothing else. I don't get why it makes some people cut. That just defeats the whole purpose of listening to it to calm you down. And plus cutting doesn't help. It just brings you more drama and pain. I should know.:( I used to cut.

My friends and I listen to 'emo' bands. We don't cut. We just like how it sounds. Makes us happy. Calms us down. Because we like it. What a person likes is what they like. If they like it, they'll probably be calmed down by it. Like, screamo for me is like... yeah, sure, it's angsty and stuff, but it for some strange reason calms me down. Makes me feel happy. Well, I'm not as offended as my friends would be. I don't have any emo style at all. Well, my pants are more or less tight, but that's about it.

Cutting has never crossed my mind. I really don't think it's... wrong, I guess. Like, I totally hate people cutting, but if they have a damn good reason for it, then I guess they can. Better than killing themselves, right? ... Maybe.

Yeah, a lot of 'emo' people do cut, but, I guess I'm just around my friends so much that I don't notice anyone outside of my circle like that. I don't get into their personal lives, so, if they cut I really don't know about it.

The majority is 13 year olds, or around there, so, they probably just like what they hear on the radio, and what's popular now. (I refuse to call it 'mainstream', because some people hate mainstream, but, I love it to death.) And, us olderish people have been around different types of music, and we pay more attention to different styles of music, and we've been through more music than them. Pfft. Dx Probably now really.
But, with me, my parents are total Brits. So they listen to like, 60's stuff. Beatles, Elton John, other... people I can't think of right now. So that rubbed off on me. I love that, and then I love like, MCR and FOB and people like that.

Ha. I probably just strayed off topic right there... sorry if it makes no sense.

I'm just kinda angry because people are completely hating on different genres of music. I'll hate on them with my friends, but if I'm talking about it with someone I don't know, I'm most likely not gonna say it's crap and sucks. Because, they'll get offended and it'll start this whole damn big fight that I really don't wanna be in.

Well. Stereotyping has been burned into some people's minds. Like mine. I'm around it so much, that I automatically assume that someone is 'prep' or 'emo' by the way they dress. I don't decide on their personality, though. Just what category they fit in by their dress. Like, if I saw someone walking in the mall with 'pre' clothing on, I'd say they're prep, but I wouldn't say they're stupid, rich, *****y cheerleaders.

Actually, emo started out as a genre of music, then certain bands were seen as emo and now it's a fashoin and a stereotype!
Just because you listen to emo music or 'emo bands', it doesn't make you emo and you shouldn't stop liking a band because someone tells you that they're emo.
