It's getting ridiculous,I mean I can't change a person's though on themselves.But how it increases constantly,'specially in Jr.Highers.
Ridiculous.
My friend did'nt eat anything for 2 flppin' days!
We got her to eat today.
My cousin Ronnie,is anorexic,he only eats salads.
Sadly his mom in a drunk, and his dad is in denial.I know it's hard, but my auntie's tried talking to him,but he won't talk.
I asked my mom if we could do anything or if his parents were helping him, because I care. She just told me it wasn't my buisness though!

anorexia and boulimia are awful.
My mom is going to fitness almost every day. And she's not fat. Because of my mother my little sis is constantly looking at her weight. That's not normal
On a profile site you had a beautiful girl that's 48 kg. That so unhealthy and she said that she still thought she was fat.
OMG what's happening. It's getting way out of hand!!!
It gets me annoyed when I see one of my friends go on a "diet" or go on an all vegetable spree, when truth be told they are nowhere close to obese. It really bothers me for some reason and it makes me mad that they hurt their health just because they think they are over-weight.
Now, seeing it in a different perspective that I have come up with. It seems that most of the people who tend to incline towards bulimia and/or anorexia are very self-doubtful, and have low-self-esteem about their weight or in general. And with today's media on models and 'being-skinny-is-the-only-way,' only sets off their trigger to do these harmful things to themselves.
Then I ask myself, what is a beautiful person? What physical qualities would a beautiful person have? These questions are only answered by personal choice, not by what the media tells you. I, do not find skinny models to be attractive what-so-ever. I like people to have meat on their bones, when they are not afraid to eat carbs. When they are courageous to show their curves. But now...I'm getting off topic.
I could understand if you want to keep off extra weight, but going to extremes, well now, that draws the line. But I guess we all have a right to do what we want to our bodies, though we need to be careful of how we chose to take care of it. I wish people would see that, but then again, it would be difficult.
Now this is an important topic, people should voice their opinions.

actually anorexia makes you fatter once you get off the anorexic diet cuz ur body starts thinking that there's a low food supply and prepares for another non eating binge by storing more fat.
I think there should be a law that models need to be the average weight in america, so people dont think their too fat

I hear you on this. Two of my co-workers are like this. They're so skinny, but they're obsessed with dieting and eat next to nothing. When the other secretaries are gone, they sit there and talk about their diets. A while back one was saying how her boyfriend of the moment (she changes them like I change my socks) aws talking about wanting to go to the beach, and she was all like, "Oh, but I'd have to lose, like, 20 pounds before I could do that!" This girl is a rail already. Her arms are scrawny- she's scrawny. And she's started going to that "Curves" fitness place, and fusses over every bite that goes in her mouth. I actually got so frustrated at one point that I told her, "Look, you have NO business dieting! You don't need it! You're so skinny already!" But she shrugged it off by saying, "Oh, but I'm just trying to be healthier!" There's a difference between being fit and being on a diet. She's hung-up on diets. Then again, we live in a society that trains its women to think that no matter how they actually look, they always need to lose at least ten pounds. It's ridiculous.
It gets me annoyed when I see one of my friends go on a "diet" or go on an all vegetable spree, when truth be told they are nowhere close to obese. It really bothers me for some reason and it makes me mad that they hurt their health just because they think they are over-weight.

Sorry,I was busy.
But yes.It is out of hand in America, little girls and boys think that because someone looks like one thing in a pic, they have to starve to.
My best friend thinks it's cool,to starve herself.
She ate nothing for 2 days!NOTHING!
I made her eat the third day during lunch.I hate the thought of how much it hurts them mentally and physically.

Well, it's not always their fault for being skinny.
I mean, you can't just blame someone for being skinny or underweight.
Sometimes they can't help it.
But, I do get what you mean.
Hollywood sets up this 'norm' and anyone who doesn't abide it is ugly.
Like a dress code, in a sense.
And I understand the teen self-concious thing.
I mean, my two good friends (Even though I love them to DEATH) are very self-concious.
They always compare themselves to other girls say how fat they are.
But they're Skinnier than I am!
And they're saying how they want to be as skinny as me!
And we're in fifth grade!
It's really getting out of hand...

Exactly.
I know people who are very thin or only moderately chubby, they complain but take no action.I tell them to work out and eat healthy then they get all offended.
I mean,America sets horrible standards for us.
My friend whom tried to starve herself.
I am really skinny, because I play soccer and don't eat much, due to that I am a very light eater.
So she calls me belemic and anorexic.
It is annoying.

America has the most fastfood than anywhere (I'm guessing). I think we're also the country with the most obese people so that may be part of the problem.
Kids see documentaries (Or something) and freak out about their weight.
Yeah, I play hockey and soccer so I guess I'm average weight and I eat as healthy as I can.
Not because I'm concerned about my weight but because I want to live for a long time and be healthy, y'know?

well, anorexia and bulimia are both very unhealthy diseases. i myself, can honestly say that i have never been tempted to do either of them but, i have thought i was fat. I just ran around a bit to make myself happier. But, it's not only girls who do it. There really are guys who do it because of people pressuring them saying theyre fat. And to make them happy, they tun to any of those two eating disorders. It's pressure and bullying at school or anywhere else. self-conciousness, or unsatisfying self-image. So, to help stop it, you can be nice to others, even though it wouldn't stop it fully. There are still the models that have to be a certain size and certain other things that are really bad examples. all those models just seem fake to me. that's really just my opinion.

Well they are, they photoshop pictures to make them thinner. Also some resort to an extreme weightloss diet which leads to unhelathy rib cage protrusion and so on...
And yes,I know it's guys too, because my cousin Ronnie is a guy.He was over weight in middle school and got teased, that is why he resorts to anorexia.

hello :)
and im upset bout this as well. my sis always try to be as skinny as me. she eats almost nothing and goes outside to play pretty much every day. she never gets her homeworkl done bcuz shes usually outside all day. but its sad bcuz theres thousands people that need food and would give anything for a crumb. i dont find super skinny girls attractive. it scares me >< i cant help that im skinny as hell. its my genetics seriously i eat a lot all the time and im skin and bones. so some people cant help it if their skinny but some can and just bcuz the media says that only super skinny,longhaired-blondes are beauitful then it makes girls change theirselves to fit peoples thoughts of wats beautiful. BE DIFFERENT! and i probably went nowhere :D

Well you have stated a good fact. What alot of girls mis-concept now a days is that if the girl is skinny, she must be starving herself.I am pretty skinny and I eat like a normal person.Just because I am skinny though,I do get called anorexic and belimic. It does hurt too.I advise that if your sister wants to get skinny she needs to eat healthy and if she eats big proportions mabey eat all through-out the day, like six little healthy meals instead of 3 big ones full of fried foods,soda,ect...
Water also helps to keep you healthy.Soda isn't good for you,and it also increases facial breakouts.
((This is only what i've heard from my health-freak parents.))

Anorexia and Bulimia are getting more and more common especially with young people.
It's more of a pshycological thing. People see curvy celebrities being called fat and skinny celebrities complaining about their weight. Celebrities and the media are not the only ones to blame though. Teenagers, especially girls call each other because of their weight. They try to find something different about a person, if there isn't anything obvious, they get called about their weight regardless of how fat or thin they may be.
I used to get called fat at school. By people I knew, by people I didn't know at all and even by some of my friends. I went on so many crazy diets, I would go for three days without eating and just drink water. I would drink four litres of water everyday and just have one meal. I hardly lost any weight because what I was doing was ridiculous. I even went for a week making myself throw-up everyday.
I've just realised that I've been talking in past tense, but no I'm still just as stupid. I drink loads of water and watch exactly what I eat. Take today for example, I was at my friends house and I ate some crisps. I got so annoyed with myself when I got home so I didn't have any dinner. I can't help this, I see celebrities and just normal people who look gorgeous and I think it's because their thin, I have a vision of how I want to look and I'm not going to stop until I get to it. Some people have told me that I've got a problem, but I don't think I do, I'm just obsessed.
Sorry this was more of a 'my story' type of post, I just thought everything else had been covered.

It's fine I was actually hoping a first hander would post, thank you for your story =]
Yeah,I do belive it is a mental thing more than physical even if someone isn't over-weight they do this because they see the photoshopped modls in magazine's.

Yeah, like I'm always being told by people that i'm not fat and I don't need to loose weight, but when you see pictures of models in magazines it's hard to believe that you're not fat!
With some people it's because they don't like the way they physically look but with most people it's because they have a mental imae of a 'perfect' body in their head of they have seen someone who looks 'perfect' and want to look like them.
the media is an awful thing but alot of people are horribly affected by it.

That is most defianetly true.I've always been fine with my weight but other things....diffrent matter. No body think's their perfect though. No matter how mean they act.I mean,it's not just the media either,it's people who tease eachother to make themselves feel better.

Yeah, I can't stand people who do that.
People who will stand there and call me because of how I look. They're not perfect and never will be.

I have alot of friends. One 'specially.I am thin by nature, because I eat a little at a time and our family has a slim build.Well she is slightly chubby and she keeps on calling me fat,and when I tell her i'm not,she started dogging me for being flat chested or some other nasty remark, those kinds of people make me enflamed.

((I kid you not: My next door neighbor's cat was diagnosed with bullemia. Skinniest cat EVER. She would eat and eat and eat, and then throw up. She was very hard to pet sit, but she was so freakin' friendly, she was my favorite. I was bummed when she died...Not of starvation, btw, she got hit by a car. She was stupid that way...she liked sitting in the middle of the road. I think she thought if she sat long enough, the driver would get out and play with her.))
((Anyway...how does that happen? Did all the OTHER cats make fun of her for being fat? And she just got so sick of it, she started purging? *sigh* What have the pets of our nation come to? :D ))
