The elves have made this primitive planet their home. For millennia they have adapted to their newfound world, enduring the harsh environment, savage humans and ruthless trolls. One elfin tribe has thrived despite the rugged conditions, as nine chiefs have led them through good times and bad.

They are called, the Wolf Riders. As their name sake calls them, they ride wolves. But not only do they run with wolves, they can be the wolf. They can not turn into the wolf, but they can speak with the wolf. That is called Thought Speak.

The Wolf Riders are very close to their wolves. At birth they are given a wolf to ride throughout their life. The wolves are like a brother or sister to the elves. If one dies, the whole tribe would know and they'd mourn over their loss.

Like the wolves the elves can talk through howls. Also like they wolves they have a mating season and go away in a den to give birth. But unlike the wolves they live in tree burrows. Like birds. The burrows are small and look slightly like bird houses, but you wouldn't notice them unless your saw an elf peek out at you.

But now the elves are in a feud with the humans, who think the elves are 'Wolf Demons'. Young elves are being killed on alters, wolf pups are being poisoned, game is being snatched. How will the elves live?

A few pointers before we start!


The elves can Thought Speak to each other and wolves.
The elf couples are called Life Mates.
They eat their meat raw.
They call their camp site a Holt.
The call the tree they nest in the Tree of Life.
Each Elf has a birth name a parent gives a child. Only Life Mates know each other's Birth Name, and it's because they go through Recognition.
Recognition is when a man and a woman met and know each other's Birth Name like magic. That is when they are Life Mates.
Their names are like Indian names, Bearclaw, Cutter, Joyleaf, Dewdrop, ect.
No guns, just spears, knives, swords, bows, ect.
The wolves are about the size of large ponies.
Females are pregnant for two years.
If one elf dies some where and is not seen the whole tribe knows. They are mentally linked.

Nightfall crouched in the forest her bow aimed at a doe. She edged towards her slowly, slowly, with perfect silance. She grew her bow string back and........She move away to avoide the attack of a small bob cat. Nightfall let out a low growl that micked the growl of her wolf brothers and killed the cat. Easily. "Food for the tribe." She grumbled returning to the Tribe's Holt.

New Moon sat on a tree watching for tress passers from other tribes of humans she sharpened her bows and and home-mde knife. Eclipse,faithfully by her side.

Nightfall let out a howl letting the tribe know she brought food. Shadowfell, her wolf, padded over to her with the deer she had lost. He gripped it by the neck and dragged it.

Shadowfell joined her in the howl as Nightfall put both animals on the beast's back to take to the holt.

In a human camp, some distance from the Elves, a howl was heard, followed by another.
Leaping from his hiding place, EmeraldFire, a name given to him by the fiery passion in his green eyes, ran toward a wolf, catching up as they both headed back to the Elven camp. On their way, EmeraldFire took a tuff of dark, mangy hair into his hands and pulled himself up onto the wolf, making it back in less time then if he had been running.
Slowing down when they reached the village, EmeraldFire slipped from SilverBringer's back, watching the wolf wonder off to his den before he climbed up into the tree houses with news of the Humans.

That's when he heard the cry of food, "Oh thank goodness! I'm starving!"

New Moon leaped from the tree,her stomach growled,she grabbed the three birds and some squirrles she accidently killed,practicing and let out her howel letting the others know there was more food,but not much on the way also,she leaped on Eclipses back and rode back to the village.

Nightfall jumped from the bushes and landed gracfully, in a crouching position. Shadowfell landed next to her and Night smiled. "I have Wild Cat and Deer, EmeraldFire." Nightfall held back a giggle and ran up to him, her wolf at her heels. "Come on help me skin it."

Moon Runner playfully tackled her from behind. Star Dancer laughed.
"Stop! We've got to get to the meeting place, New Moon brought food remember?"
She ran off again, this time with Moon Runner ahead. They both stopped short in front of New Moon.

"Because their savages, New Moon!" Nightfall snarled then turned to look at Star Dancer, "Star!" She cried, wrapping the girl up in a huge hug. "I got some Wild Cat for you!"

Star Dancer clutched Moon Runner's fur unconsiously. Humans scared her. What had the elves done to them? Moon Runner wimpered and nuzzled her hand.
"Oh, thank you Nightfall." She said quietly.

"oh hello Star Dancer,said New Moon Friendly, they are savages...but we're not monsters...are we?" she asked.

"So welcome, Cub." She handed her a large peice of Wild Cat. "Here you go." Then she hacked some up for Moon Runner. (Not litterally) "Eat it before someone tries to steal it from you." She warned then fed other random cubs and wolves, her own aswell.

She looked at New Moon, "Oh yeah! See me roar!" She looked around then whispered, "Rawr."

Star Dancer took the meat and ate, quietly of course. She listened for any other news about the humans.

Haley ate a bird and handed one to Eclipse and two squrrels to Isidar and Koru. "yup and how we're gonna kick their asses when we raid them." she said between bites.

isidar and koru took the squirels and isidar sighed "but why I mean I'm sure not all of them are bad" koru huffed in agreement isidar were closer then most elf's become with their wolves not only because they were the same age but because koru was her only family left the humans had killed their parents and yet they did not hate them for it

"But if we raid them, wouldn't that confirm their fears about us, that we are monsters?" Star Dancer asked New Moon. "If we raid the humans then the war and bloodshed and hatred won't ever stop."

"They already think of us as demons! They kill us like they would their game and skin us. They put our skins on their buildings and bodies. When the Night Star comes I will strike at them. They took my brother and Shadowfell's mate." Nighfall whispered sadly. True to her name she did almost every thing at night fall. She was also born at nightfall.

"Then what is, Cub? We don't speak their language, only Treestump and he's been around longer then they've been here! We have to attack, weaken them, make them want to leave. We're looseing our Dream Barries!" Nightfall cried. "They're taking the game and posioning our wolves. We have to do some thing!" Nightfall said.

"I agreed young one." Treestump said walking over to them. "I agree. As the cheif before your time, Bearclaw, he thought the same thing. He was your uncle. And he made life better until the human regrouped and formed another attack. It will keep going until one of us give up our land. Human's or the Wolf Riders." he said, his voice deep and growlly like a bear's.

(Dream Barries are special barries that are like......beer. And by the way, elves are insanely loving over these things, so this would anger them. Greatly.)

Treestump shook his shaggy head, "How many times do you think we've tried over the seven thousand moons? They have to be raised to believe some thing don't they?" Nightfall nodded, "I'm sorry Cub, but this is the way they play, we have to play that way back."

She fed Shadowfell again and walked off, not eating. She was very disstressed.

Star Dancer fell silent. She scratched Moon Runner's head, and Moon Runner licked her palm. It doesn't have to be this way. she thought privately.

Treestump let out a loud chuckle. "Easy there young cub. Make sure you stay with an elf or wolf at all times. Humans might try to take you." He stroked her fur and set her on her feet. "Best be off, las." Treestump stepped into line to get some food. There was plently to go around because there where fourteen elves in the tribe all together.

Nightfall leaned over the river her bow aimed at the fish perfectly. She shot it and plucked it out of the water with the arrow on it. She let it flop on the ground as it died and looked at her catch, four fish total. The humans had already been here......But so close to the Holt? Oh Fonders.

Treestump beamed. "I think I've found myself a wolf at last." He knocked the cub over on his back playfully and rubbed his belly. <Where are your parents cub?> He asked them through Thought Speak.

"C'mon boy." she muttered to Moon Runner. She quietly padded away to a small clearing.
"You know that if we fight back, the fighting will never stop right?" She asked the wolf. Moon Runner woofed in reply and nudged her leg with his nose.

Treestump frowned <I am sorry then, my pup. I will protect you though.> He smilled.

Nightfall poised herself ready to strike another fish.

i looked up at treestump and tried climb his fur onto his head

The older elf chuckled and allowed the cub to climb his way up onto his head. "No bitting the ears, you hear?" he chuckled again and jumped into the trees to search for acorns.

i fell asleep on his head quite quickly i fell into treestumps shirt pocket still asleep

Nightfall bent over to shoot another when a twig snapped. She whirled around to face several humans. This was the time Nightfall wished she had her wolf with her.

She never allowed him to follow her to a fishing hunt, he'd move or twich or make some kind of noise and scare the fish off. But now...

She let out a yelp as they threw a spear at her. She dodged a few more blows then one came up behinde her and grabbed a fistful of her hair. She screamed and struggled but they put a knife to her throat and dragged her off. She opened the link between all the tribe members and the wolves and screamed. Sending a very strong Mind Scream.

Treestump stumbled when he heard the Mind Scream. He fell from the tree hitting the branches several times then collasped to the ground with a cry of pain. <Nightfall!> He screamed through the link but got no answer.

Star Dancer yelled in pain when she heard the Mind Scream.
"Nightfall!" She cried. "NO!" Star Dancer didn't know what to do, she had no weapons, and was only a cub. But she had to help.
Had to.
"Let's go!" She cried to Moon Runner, climbing on his back. Moon Runner sprinted away as fast as he could.

Treestump stumbled to his feet and let out a heart rending howl. Several wolves answered and a few elves replyed. "Nightfall!" He howled but there was no answer. Shadowfell raced up to Treestump whimpering and whinning. "She's been taken..." Treestump choked through his tears.

Star Dancer and Moon Runner stopped at the creek where Nightfall had been. The girl looked to Treestump who quietly said, "She's been taken..."
Star Dancer looked around in horror. "That can't be. Nightfall, she had Shadowfell, and...and her bow, and she was-is one of the best fighters in the tribe!" She shook her head. "No, no. She's hiding somewhere! I know it, she has to be..."
Star Dancer sat down by Moon Runner. She buried her face in his fur and cried.

Treestump let out a snarl, which sounded much like a wolf's. He jumped onto Shadowfell's back and picked Star Dancer up from the ground. He put her infront of him as he rode towards th fish lake. Moon Runner was supposed to run with them.

When they reached the lake he fround that her bow was on the ground and a couple large sized fish where on the ground. "How? That's what I want to know! HOW!?" He roard and punched a tree.

"I-I don't...." Star Dancer whispered. "W-wait..." she wiped away the tear stains on her face and peered at the ground. "There aren't any wolf tracks here. Just the ones we made...."

[Death's_Soul]

Treestump nodded, "Yeah. Nightfall doesn't take her wolves with her on fish hunting they scare them away. So she leaves them at the holt." He said softly.

[Nikki Jekyll]

Star Dancer looked up, "So she didn't have Shadowfell. Which means, that the humans probably ambushed her." The girl looked around, "Look!" she proclaimed, "Human prints. I think that they were part of a hunting party. Maybe that is why they were coming toward the creek, for food."

Treestump had already already spotted the tracks. But he was proud the cub had even thought of them and let alone find them. "We need to wait for EmeraldFire and our lead Huntress. We also cannot go until nightfall-!" He broke into tears as his granddaughter's name was spoken. "My lovely daughter. Oh by the High Ones!" he wept and Shadowfell gave off one loud sad howl.

Star Dancer sighed and looked out in the direction the tracks came from.
"Do not worry. I do not think that the humans intention was to find and capture elves. If it was, why would they only take one? They were a hunting party, who only took Nightfall because there must be some sort of bounty. I think that they will keep her alive long enough to take her to their village." Star Dancer nodded decisively.

[Death's_Soul]

Treestump choked over his voice, "They came across her is what they did. Look, see the blood, she killed one and maybe wounded more, but one must have gotten to her rear and beat her until she couldn't move. Then they took her to the village." He looked up at her. "Do you know what they do to wolves and elves they find? They kill them. They tie them up a a rock and kill them as a gift to their....God." He stood. "I'm going to go get the tribe ready. They're most likely wondering who screamed and why. Let's go Star." He broke off into a run towards the holt.

Skywise sat on a tree branch around the Tree of Life, sharpening a arrow head. He looked up to see Treestump's blotchy red face and Star Dancer looking distressed. "What happened? I felt a scream and then silance. Who was it? What's wrong? Are they okay?"

Treestump stopped infront of him and brust into tears. Skywise dropped his arrow head and knife then hugged the old grizzly elf. <Nightfall....> he Though Spoke. <It was Nightfall. Human's got her. We can't find her anywhere.> Skywise's face darkened and he nodded. "I see...I'll go round up some Hunters." he said and dashed off almost tripping in his haste.

The girl nodded, and followed after Treestump. Stopping for breath when Skywise and Treestump started talking. Moon Runner, stood right behind her and wimpered when Treestump started crying again.

Nightfall awoke with a groan to find herself tied to a wooden cross. Some human male was painting on her face. She snarled and bit his hand. He wailed in pain and jumped away. <Help me!> She sent the images of the camp to the tribe then added, <At nightfall! Come then! Hurry!> She moaned then was punched in the jaw and her world spiraled down from there.

"Isidar! Not yet wait till nightfall! Wait still New Moon and EmberaldFire come to help, not yet damn it!" That was the first time Treestump curse.

Skywise tackled Isidar from her wolf and said, "You are not to leave this place until the rest of us are ready. Don't you think I want to find her? I want to find my sister more than anything!" He snarled, "If you leave without us you will be disowned." he growled and looked at her, "Understand?"

"Shadowfell, take care of the pup." Skywise said and picked Isidar up and carried her over to the tree he tied her up and took her weapons. "Being disowned means your wolf is killed and you are baned from the tribe. Do you want that?"

koru back away growling his fur standing on it's ends and kloud glared at Skywise" you leave koru alone! don't you dare harm him or I will hurt you koru if they try to attack you or tie you up run understand don't look back I'll be fine" koru nodded and watched them carefully

"Then stop being a fool." Star Dancer snapped, uncharacteristically angry. "We all want her back. But we have to wait until the right moment."

Treestump nodded, "We won't hurt you wolf but if you go in there we'd loose two elves and a wolf. If you go in there they'll know the rest of us are coming and kill her then. You can't do. Don't you understand?" he begged.

Skywise nodded darkly.

Shadowfell and Timmian surrounded Kuro making sure he couldn't run but didn't threaten him.

isidar glared at Star Dancer then started to sniff and tears started rolling down he cheeks and koru's ears went against his head <now look what you've done isidar it's ok she didn't mean to snap at you I'm sure please stop crying> and she closed her eyes tightly and her body started shaking "I want my mommy!!!!!" koru covered his ears by putting his paws over his head <you made her cry so fix it!>

Skywise sighed. "If Nightfall was here she'd wrap her in a hug and rock her until she felt better....But she's not here....Damn." He covered his face and sighed.

Shadowfell and Timmian joined Isidar's tears by howling and barking.

isidar stopped crying for a second hearing them howl and bark as she cried but the tears continued to roll down her cheeks and her chin went against her chest and she sobbed "I want my mommy and my daddy and my big brother! it's not fair they shouldn't have died"

"Well, it's not going to happen just standing there!" EmeraldFire glared at Skywise -yeah, real wise- before he kneeled by Isidar and moved to take her into a hug. "I know it hurts, but everything will be all right." Inside, he was worrying over Nightfall; both SilverBringer, who sat some distance away, and he had heard her Mind Scream. "They're right though, you really ought to stay here...." He paused for a moment in thought, "I can't replace your family but I can be there, for you, if you'd like...?"

Nightfall awoke to the sounds of drums and heavy feet. She found herself tied to a rock. Her arms where tied above her head and here numb. The humans where chanting loudly and Nightfall watched them silently as night fell.

Skywise looked at the twilight. "We ride!" He called and charged off towards the human camp. Treestump rode on Shadowfell.

When Skywise told them at it was time to go, he got up from Isidar and hopped onto SilverBringer's back, "Your family will always be with you," he told the female before they, too, took off to rescue Nightfall.

Nightfall looked at the human Shamen as he held a club above her. "Hey no! What are you gonna do with that thing. Hey! Buddy! You-Oof!" He hit her in the stomach then beat her with it until her head hung and she hung heavily against the ropes.

Skywise kick Timmian to charge him faster. "EmeraldFire, scout ahead and Thought Send what is going on!" He yelled loudly.

[White Horse]

"Yes, sir!" SilverBringer and EmeraldFire moved up ahead, disappearing into the dense foliage.
When they heard the humans up ahead, they stopped, SilverBringer hiding in the bushes while EmeraldFire jumped up into the trees to get a better view.
Narrowing his green gaze on the human who had beaten Nightfall.
Skywise, the male Elf thought, Some human has harmed Nightfall greatly; she's tied up and I think they might be able to kill her...

Nightfall watched as the human tried to smear something on her lips. She let out a wolfish snarl and bit his hand. He screamed and Nightfall tasted her blood and his mix. She held on as he struggled to jerk away. "Aaaaaiiiiiieee!" he screamed and motioned for the club. Nightfall bit down harder but let go when he clubed her in the head.

Skywise let out a curse. He took a deep breath and howled towards the full moon. "Attack my brothers!" He screamed and the wolves charged towards the camp and into it. <EmeraldFire, get Nightfall out of here!> He Thought Spoke

[White Horse]

Ay', Ay'.
Hopping from the tree branch, he landed silently behind the human with the club and twisted his neck quickly before pulling out a self-made dagger. As he was cutting the ropes that bound Nightfall, EmerladFire spoke in a low voice, "Are you all right? Did he hurt you to badly? What was that he was trying to give you?"

SilverBringer, EmeraldFire's wolf-friend, swiftly and silently crawled toward them to help bring Nightfall back to their camp.

Nightfall's head lollied weakly and she sighed. It hurt to talk. She looked at him and leaned against him heavily.

"Kill those you can and fall back!" Skywise cried. He pulled his wolf into the shadows as the rested followed slowly.

[White Horse]

"Nightfall?" EmeraldFire asked worriedly, picking her up into his grasp and setting her on SilverBringer's back before moving up behind her to hold her on. "Make them hurt," he murmured, for Nightfall's sake, as they rode back toward the Elven village.

[Death's_Soul]

Skywise called the hunters back and left the humans to mourn over their loss, and the elves their own.

Treestump had been striked down with a spear through the heart and was not dead, as he rode Shadowfell, face brave and still strong. The elves carried him out to be barried while Skywise ran to call a healer for his sister.

Nightfall let out a pained noise as EmeraldFire lifted her. "Be gentale." She moaned as they raced along.

"Treestump!" Star Dancer shouted. "Nightfall!"
She tried to run forward but was held back by other elves. "Let me go! Please..." she wept.

Nightfall didn't say any thing more. It hurt way too much to talk.

Skywise looked at his sister and snatched her away from Emeraldfire. He ran up to the Tree of Life and called for the healer.

Nightfall let out a yelp of pain as she brother oh-so-gentally laid her down in a patch of clovers. She didn't know who was carrying her, why, or where, all she knew was that she was hurting and she could smell the musk of wolf and the tribe. She knew she was safe.

Skywise looked at Kloud with tear stained eyes, "Let her go." Two young elves cut the ropes then went over to look at Nightfall. The tribe and wolves touched and stroked and whispered and cooed. She simpley moaned with each touch and Shadowfell had to be tied or he'd have killed a few elves in his rage and worry for his mistress.

isidar went over to skywise "where's emeraldfire and what happend did you recue her?"

Skywise looked at Kloud, and snarled, "He is fine. He is your elder and you need not worry over him like some crush out yours. It shows your lack of confadance in him!"

Nightfall growled, a weak sickly growl but a growl enough. "Shut up Skywise...Kloud." She whispered and motioned her over.

isidar flinched hurt but then went over to nightfall "yeah?"

Nightfall sat up ignoring the protests of her body and the people around her. She wrapped her arms around Kloud's neck and hugged her tightly. "I'm sorry I left you. I'm sorry..." She said.

All the cubs that didn't have parents she had claimed as her own. So she felt bad for leaving them. She hugged Kloud tightly and struggled not to cry.

"Skywise!" EmeraldFire growled as he stomped after him, "Don't yell at Isidar for being worried; that doesn't show 'lack of confidence' it means she cares about others." And he wasn't that old...
As he watched Isidar and Nightfall, EmeraldFire spoke to Skywise, in a calmer voice, lower, then before, "How is she? Did the healer fix Nightfall?" Who knows what else those putrid humans had done to her before they found her.

[Death's_Soul]

Skywise scowled then his face fell as he watched Nightfall release Kloud and laid back her face sweating from the effort not to scream or cry. "The healer tried but the.....Thing they put on her lips, was to prevent the healer from healing her." He sighed shaking his head.

Nightfall's ears twiched. "Don't talk about me..." she growled but it was pained.

New moon sat in a tree in the woods looking down at about three human men,they had these weird long weapons that made a loud noise,she sat motionless...." I hope the others are ok.." she thought "she was out of arrows by now and she had dropped

"How could we not? You're so adorable," EmeraldFire grinned at Nightfall before turning back to Skywise, serious again.
"The healer doesn't know a way to get rid of it? Should we capture one of the human and se if we can get the information of it out of them?"

EmeraldFire glanced toward Isidar at her self-degrading words, "Don't worry over what happened; no one could have known that the humans would attac; I didn't even know," and he was the spy.

Nightfall's vision wavered and she yelped. She struggled to sit up but couldn't move. She felt like she was floating on a boat. She let out a soft cry of pain and fear.

Shadowfell snarled and lept towards his Mistress. He collasped next to her as the other elves freaked and tried to pull him away. He stubornly held by her side.

"Posion. They've posioned her." Skywise said awed. "How....How can we help her?!" He snarled. "First Treestump dies then my sister is next in line. I won't allow it!" He growled and looked at EmderaldFire. "Take a woman from their tribe. Women mix this damned stuff." He let out an oath that would have made the foulest troll gasp.

[White Horse]

"Yes, sir!" EmeraldFire called for SilverBringer and quickl rode back toward the camp of the humans, wanting to help Nightfall quickly and get away from Skywise before he did something that might harm the Elves in his anger.

SilverBringer, understanding the urgency, was quick to bring them both back to the camp of the humans. Hiding, waiting for the opportune moment, EmeraldFire snuck of after a women who went to wash clothes in a nearby river.

While she was leaned over the water, washing the clothes, EmeraldFire wrpaped his arms around her waist, holding ehr own arms down and keeping her against him, and around her mouth to kep her from making noise.

When SilverBringer arrived, her muffled screams only intensified, even after he had climbed atop the large wolf and they were making their way back toward the Elven Village.

"What do you want?!" She screamed when he had arrived and threw her to the ground beside Skywise.

Skywise snarled and crouched next to her. Normally Skywise was the jokester. The silly laid back one. But now that his sister was withering on the ground moaning and crying, he was peeved. He pressed a knife to her throat and said, "The She-Elf you took from us. Her." He pointed at Nightfall as the human looked, "She's posioned, and your going to help her, or die. Do you want to die?" He smiled evilly. The moon light shined on his teeth and made him look very evil.

Shadowfell crept towards the human growling and showing his teeth.

kloud looked between them helpless she wanted to help her kind but she also wantded to keep the human safe koru sniffed the human ignoring the growls around him

New Moon was froxen with fear,then worst of all,they looked up...and saw here. "lookey there ted,said one of them." "A girl elf" the one called Ted said. "hey pertty whay don'tcha come down here with us?...we won't bite...hard" said the other. ans they both rared with laughter which New moon or eclipse ,which they didn't see. found funny. "c'mon " he said as if he wwre calling a puppy. New Moon shook her head. they frowned "now c'mon and get that tight lil' ass of yours down here or we'll shoot cha down" said Ted.

She was dancing in front of the Tree of Life. She was dancing for peace and healing for the tribe. It was a very complex dance, and all her concentration was focused on moving her feet to the rhythm in her head.
