The world, a nexus of powerful emotion and flowing senses between the living beings that inhabit it. There are so many things that are questionable in this world, this vast open collection of lands and waters coming together to create this existence. Everyday the children go to school and learn what they will, within whichever area they were born. The lands have been separated into three Kingdoms, each with villages throughout their bounds that thrive on their own with a moderate amount of rule from their Lords. This land is called Auroan, and it’s power is originated from the insects of burning life; The Fireflies.
Every night the sky fills with the scattered lights of fireflies burning brightly at their bulbs. They fly from Kingdom to kingdom in an never ending cycle. Every month at the ceremony to the sky, these bright bodied insects are praised for their light, which leads travelers and merchants safely in the darkness of the night. Every traveler knows about the migration cycle of the fireflies.
But these events that are in motion were said to be set in the past a very long time ago. As legends says, back in the times of old when the three nations were at war, there was a band of seven mighty warriors that united the common folk under one banner and suppressed the war between the Lords. They also released the blessing of the Fireflies upon the land for all to use. Each Warrior was the wielder of a weapon forged in the depths of Burning Sky Mountain by the master weapon smith Honkuo.
With the blessing of the Lord of Fireflies, he was granted the power to decide the fate of the Kingdoms. Either he’d use the power to take over, or divide fate into the hands of seven brave warriors. Being the wise and honorable man he was, he chose to seek out the seven and create the weapons that would divide Fate and harness the power of the fireflies. This power was rooted in the mold of time, constantly revolving in the anchor of the universe. The Symbol of existence was in fact the Firefly. So each weapon would be created by a Memory of the Worlds life.
After finding his warriors and forging the weapons, he sent them out by his good will, and with the power of the fireflies they accomplished their task. Once they returned to Burning Sky Mountain they found that the Master Weapon Smith went missing and all that was left was the Crest of the Lord of Fireflies. Each laid their weapon upon the crest and left to live their lives peacefully. It’s been many years since these events became legend, and it seems that there is a sudden unrest in the kingdom. Outsiders have come by sea to the land of Auroan, with the intent to take over the rule of the three Kingdoms and will stop at nothing to take hold. The time has come to call upon seven more warriors and have them take upon themselves the Seven Weapons; The Seven Memories of the Fireflies. This way they can bring the nations together to stop this attack upon their homeland.
Information Regarding Several things:
The Fireflies: The Fireflies of Auroan are no normal insects. They hold the immense power of the world within themselves, and are the symbol for life and energy. They are the source of magic in this land, and this magic can be harnessed by several ways like praying, chanting, and even combining it with one’s inner force making it come into reality. The power of the Fireflies is everywhere but becomes more powerful on the nights when they migrate. Though casting such spells with this energy takes mental focus and energy, and other inputs to be able to wield such power
The Seven Memories: Each of the Seven Memories have a power related to a distinct time in the world’s history. For example, a Memory called the Tide Moon would have flowing characteristics and the ability to control water and gravity to an extent. Of course this Memory would be when the moon was bonded with the Worlds gravity. Each Memory has it’s own uniqueness, no two Memories are exactly alike.
Effects of the Seven Memories: As a warrior learns to wield one of the weapons, he or she will start to relive the past of one of the original Seven Heroes as well as become one with the world around them. As they progress with becoming one with their Memory, the power of their Memory becomes fuller and more mature, meaning more powerful.
The Task of the Seven Memories: (First of all, all the warriors must be chosen) To get all of the Kingdoms to renew the alliance of old, and to strike down the heart of the invasion.
Auroan: This is a vast land divided into the three Kingdoms; Arceola, Klau Mous and Rinbenki. Arceola is a nation built on stone, water and steel, they are a Kingdom that would look more or less like Mid evil Europe. They have many Farming villages as well as vast Castles and Bridges over the Rivers that flow from the mother city Aquaina. They have the most powerful Armored Knights in the land, though they are heavy. They have forests and plains in this land, and are proficient at laying siege and heavy enforcement.
Klau Mous is the nation of entertainment and spectacle. They have many casinos and other questionable areas that are more or less for leisure. Almost like a nation of Circus Performers, they are mostly a fun loving and acrobatic, if not a stern and heavily strong peoples who retain more to the Indian and Hindu like culture. Where Arceloa would have Halberds and Broad Swords Klau Mous would hand Scimitars and Throwing daggers as well as some gun powders (Crude to say the least). They are a nomadic people, only a few cities are built in stone and wood, but because Klou Mous is a wide desert area they use the sand as they’re cover.
Rinbenki is a nation of discipline and honor, one that has built it’s own tradition in training all citizens in some form of martial art or weapon wielding. They have buildings similar to that of Feudal Japan and Dynasty age China and Korea. They are a respectful and well taught people, the Sword Smith Hankuo was born in this kingdom, and this is the kingdom where Burning Sky Mountain creates the line between there and Klau Mous. They are diverse in there areas of training, but nothing to heavy in the armor aspect. Every last person here down to the very farmers of the villages know how to defend themselves, and hence with the discipline there is a low crime rate.
The Invaders: A massive armada of warships from another land has landed around the nation in several key points, and these invaders seem so diverse themselves. They come from a far away Kingdom called Lesterna, and the King of Lesterna; Lord Culbrin has sent out his son Prince Seneth to lead them to victory. These Lesternians are well rounded in there armaments and tactics as well as very diverse in race, size and color, quite literally. One would ask where they found all these different peoples. One could only respond that the world was most vast then they thought.
Passable Races and Examples from this world:
No futuristic things here, so no androids or robots. Duh. Go with mythical references if you wish, or just fantasy. But remember that humans are a big part of this world.
Make sure the racial traits are evened out.
A few examples:
Magus: Humans who are connected to the Lord of the Fireflies, they have the ability to call upon insect-like wings to carry them and they have direct access to casting spells instantly at the cost of more mental and physical energy.
Twilight Vampire: Vampires who dwell in the day as well as night, who can heal and give off energy during the day time as well as fight with dark power and speed at night. The only families left are Lioncrest and Ravenwing. (See my Sample character Ghalion)
Ghost Oni: A race of demon that has the ability to phase through objects, but only for a limited time. Their magic is based on the two flames of Spectral Phenomenon; The White Flame and the Black Flame. Usually Ghost Oni specialize in one of the two, but there are a few with the ability or potential to become one with both. These people are called ‘The Masked Ones’ due to the mask they seem to gain as they get stronger, almost like another part of their face (Which appears when they are using their power).
