You should try your best to make her feel comfortable about her weight. If she is really overweight this however won't work.
To physically help her, how about you suggest that you go to the gym together, or go on a healthy eating plan together.
Since her parents aren't their for her and you're all she's got, you've got to support her as best you can. Do healthy things together, don't just give her a salad and sit their with a bar of chocolate, that won't help her.

Um, that's a bit hard of a situation

Maybe you could talk to her about it, but very privately and carefully because you'll be touching an open wound, but perhaps you could ask her if she's like to lose a bit of weight to shut the fukers up and that you will do everthing with her. Tell her you love her just the way she is, but if it's important for her the other people stop picking on her, maybe you could do something about it, together, as friends. After all, is for her own good.

Well any idiot who has the nerve to make fun of her better shut their trap. I'd personally teach them a lesson, but I wouldn't suggest
that. You could try to get her to exercise more. If it's a medical condition where she is stuck overweight, explain that to the fools that make fun of her. Or you could tell them to put themselves in her situation. That's all I can think of, sorry.

Well, if you take my advice, you're taking your own risks. Okay? My advice would be to ask her if she would like to go exercising with you. Ask her if she would like to go on a jog, go play some tennis, or do a light workout at the gym. I did that with my friend, Olivia, and she's lost a bunch of weight, she's less depressed and we had fun doing it!

You should try to.

Well, honestly, I have a friend who's... um... over-weight...
BUT! GOD! She's BEAUTIFUL!
What I would do is make her feel beautiful...
This may sound incredibly girly... but...
Play with her hair, do her makeup, paint her nails, etc.
Then keep going, "Wow... You're so pretty."

There's this show called Meadowlands and there's this GORGEOUS girl on there named Jezebel, but she weighs 200 pounds...
BUT! Everyone tells her she's beautiful and SHE IS and that gives her confidence and she's REALLY PRETTY!
You've gotta make her feel pretty and get her to focus on things other than her weight.
Like hair styles, make-up, skin care, etc.

It's girly... BUT IT WORKS!
And, then, people will look past her weight and see how beautiful she is.
And with the boost in confidence it'll make her even more beautiful 'cuz it's been proven that people with good self-esteem tend to be prettier than others and some people think it's because they're stuck-up and preppy, but, really, it's because she's confident about herself.

"Confidence is the biggest turn-on." is something I heard once and it's TRUE!

Make her feel beautiful and make her consintrate on other things.
It works! Trust me!
I mean, I'm emo-girl skinny, but this is a true fact.

Oh, right... And with the boost of confidence, that often makes them get much more motivated and they tend to loose weight.
And you'll be amazed at the results, because it always work.

Maybe try a different approach.
Don't tell her you want to help her because she won't want to feel like she needs help. Suggest doing activities together such as playing a sport or going to the gym. Make it sound fun and hopefully she'll think of it as an activity you're doing together and not just to loose weight.
