It's marching season again!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!! ^_______^ We just got our entire show tonight, all of the music. We haven't started learning drill yet. We start later in the year than a lot of bands around here. We're playing Carmen. I'm an alto sax and for once we actually have melody in two different parts. We get the final death scene reprise.

Charm, you're almost making me wish my sisters were in high school again. I have no talent whatsoever, or else I'd follow in their footsteps and join the band. I'm a chorus geek ^.^.

Well, I guess I'm excited but its a LOT of hard work really. *sighs* I'm in the Pit so I play pretty much anything to make the show sound prettier.

Our show this year is Medusa. And so far, the Pit's only been given the first movement (out of 4! >_<). We have it memorized though. LoL. However, the hardest thing we have to do is a four measure 16th note run at a speed of 170. O_o That's really fast and really hard to play on the vibes! T.T

Oh, and Band Camp's this Sunday... O_o Through Thursday. I'm going to die. *cringes*

Hello fellow band geek! the band got our music at the end of last year and guard and precussion(sp?) camp was last week and we just ended our full band camp to day. our theme this year is angels. I'm a pit person so I don't have to march. Our tunes are really nice. Its not as hard as last years peices.

And Gaara, choir takes talent! I'm sure you've got a lot of talent! Don't let any of the choir kids I know catch me saying that though. I like to keep a war going between us. It's fun.

Man, our pit SUCKED last year. I haven't even seen any pit kids around. That worries me hella' a lot. We usually get out pit from the middle schoolers and I have seen none around at all. Last year for two songs our entire percussion section just played in the pit and then at Outdoor Overture the high schoolers got on the field. But it sucked because we only had one upperclassman so there wasn't really anyone to show them the ropes. He wasn't even a true percussionist. He switched over (cause we needed it) from trumpet to snare.

And your guys shows sound really interesting. This is the first time since I've been in the band that our theme hasn't just been a composer. We did Robert Smith then Aaron Copland (I loooove Buckaroo Holiday/Hoedown..hard, but once you got it, way fun...Mmmm...BEEF). The Carmen Part One is pretty easy, but I'm a little worried about the rest of them. I fricken' hate low c. There's some toughy parts, but hopefully we'll get em' good.

I start band camp August 6th. We had to cut a day short though because our school year is starting earlier sooo...mmm. When I was a freshmen, we had our entire show done by camp, but when I was a sophmore, we didn't even have drill all done till after our first contest, but also our arranger didn't even get our music to us until a couple days before band camp.

What pieces you guys playing?

I think ours are the overature, the habenera, something like...agnoise?, and then the death scene one.

OMG I am also a fellow band geek, but i'm going to be a freshman so i have to go to Band camp! which I'm very excited for! it starts on the 30th! I play clairnet!
Our music to learn is 'The Machines' and i saw that for the first time and was like O.o! there is more black than there is white on there six pages!

I love our Pit cause we work REALLY hard and all seem to get along well! We have three upperclassmen including me! Oh, and all of our music is usually rewritten by the Percussion teacher/director, which is reaaally cool cause he's like a pro-drummer that plays on the Bears Official Drumline. ^.^ He sure knows his stuff.

Our arranger who rewrites all our music works at this private school in Washington D.C. He has mad skills on the sax and talks about his days playing with Aretha Franklin all the time and talks about his band too, which according to him, are amazing (I don't doubt it though). But...once he talked for three hours straight about such things...man, my butt was numb. He comes to camp every year to help us out with our music.

My director likes to talk a lot too..ABOUT THE SAME STUFF OVER AND OVER. About...being a team...and...it's great stuff...just..he sort of gets to ranting sometimes...then it gets horribly mind-numbing.

The alto sax section used to be the section that got along the best. We all liked each other. Now that the prior seniors (I'm just a junior) have moved on, we're still a family except for one. Our new freshmen just blatantly ignores all of us. Maybe he just needs to warm up to us...I never really got that homey with my upperclassmen (except one) but I still talked to them at least. He wouldn't even tell me his name. He just looked away.

Man, I feel like horrible upperclassmen..some of the freshmen already have parts of the overature memorized. I'm a lazy bum.

You should come be in our pit, twighlight...We could probably seriously use you. I think we have one girl in there and she used to be an alto like me. I still don't even know if we have a pit. Or what's going on with the percussion. It they're going to do pit or we're going to pull magical middle schoolers out of our arses...eh...I'm sure they have it figured out.

That sound diverse...the culinary school thing. And, dude, that would neats bank on. >__<

the only thing I don't like about our pit is this really old marimba. the lowest B flat sounds like a wood block as does the the high F#/Gb and I have to play it.

My camp starts Monday...dammit. I forgot about it and then started screaming when I realized it was only a few days away. I like band...but band camp..eh...tedious. Plus, we no longer have a band room due to rennovation sooooo...it's all outside...

Yeah, but we get the short end of the stick. Jackson plays sax and clarinet so we are expected to play our parts perfect because it comes easy to Jackson. Also the begining to part 3 is insane! It goes up so high for the clarinets I'm pretty sure that only dogs and dophins can hear it! O.o

He kicks ass on the sax, dude. He played for us one time..OMFG...AWESOME. He did that one thing I've always wanted to know how ya do. The like..sort of dying sound...but it's still so cool. WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO IT!

Is that Habenera...oh yeah it is...I just remembered Agnoise was second. Yeaah...sorry, guys. You guys always get the brunt of crap too...especially since you're on melody all the time too. We saxes get it pretty good actually...we're usually just supportive..I GET MELODY TWICE NYAH! Anyway, we can get the high notes...it's just remembering the palm key figuringers and hitting them correctly...which is going fine...it's our low notes that kill us. We have to do this scale in...I think the third or fourth movement and IT'S LOW AND CRAZY. We hates it so.

I hope so. Not to be mean but she's a little bipolar. I don't like it. She's only crying to get attention and when she gets it shes all perky. Not to mention that if you even look at a guy she likes she'll hunt you down and spread rumors behind your back no matter how close you are. So I don't know! ^^

Well, I usually sit by Brittany...Dunno if we're going to do that again this year...Did Janny and Tyler break up because if they did...she'll probably sit with Janny...then there's...you, heather, alicia, jessika, michael, danielle, reanna, and zak. That's even..Given that Danielle doesn't sit with Lindsay. Heather sits with Zak and Jessika doesn't sit with Scott. Okay, scratch that...you have to add me back in because Brit will prob. sit with Janny. >__< UNEVEN AGAIN, DARNIT!

I always remember Piqua. Sucha a unique name. Do you think we'll do better? I hope we do. I remember last year I was ranting to Jessika about how all marching bands should be a family and relate to each other and BE NICE TO EACH OTHER..then...this one band scoffed at me and said. "A family?" Bastards...We went to their contest on my birthday too.

Who planned this and hell yes..count me in. I AM SO UP FOR IT! Sounds hella fun. He can make us some damn pancakes...I heard he does that. >__< What would the seniors think though? They're spending the night at his house, right? Usually every year...oh well, they can get over it. I took that as A.M. so that's not an overnighter as his house...your house, not Miller's. I am already creeped out by that for next year. Yet, I still want pancakes.

Well....concert season starts...about now.....crap I'm a hard core marching band student...I don't know aboutt concert bands...and honor band which i'm trying out for and going to fail miserably I hate auditions....they stress me out like really bad.
