Quitting while you're ahead means giving your competition some time to catch up...to be fair. I think...?
I have no answer to the bedtime story thing. As for the white on rice...rice is white, so basically they'll be sticking very close to you. Usually a threat of unwanted company.
Something I've started wondering: "If practice makes perfect, and school is for practice, but nobody's perfect, then why do we need to practice?" *Cannot take credit for that*

Yesh it is. Found it while looking for AIM away messages.
I don't see why people use that threat. Someone could take it to be a racial comment and...well...it most likely wouldn't be pretty. It doesn't make any sense if used as a threat, but that's how it's used. White on rice would be good for friends...not threats.

quitting while your ahead is kinda like... gambling! if you just won a poker game, then you should just stop before you lose everything you just earned.
and a quitter never wins is just a saying people made up so sports players dont quit in the middle of the season (in my opinion)
white on rice, literally means like rice is white, so the surface of rice is white, so its white on rice
and the phrase means I'll get you in trouble really quick.

practice makes perfect doesnt mean perfect literally, it just means you can't get better without practice.

Ok, first thing first. Is the "I'll be on you like white on rice" is basically means if you don't do what your told, then I will be on you, and make sure you do it.
Secondly, all the time parents want to make sure that have "control" over their kids, while they are like in their early years, so they read a bed time story, while at the same time, the kid believes it puts them to sleep.
Thirdly, quitting while your ahead, is sometimes (NOT all the time) a good thing, like say, you said something to your friend, and you kept on and kept on, after they got the point, and you just wanted to see, if you can push them, and you do. You realize you should have stopped while you were ahead.

you dont need to explain the meaning dumbdumb, the point is that the two phrases conflict. They say no ones perfect, and yet they also say you never know until you try. Well, you never know that no ones perfect until you try to be perfect, right?
