I wrote these because I felt like writing. Criticism would be welcomed in the extreme, especially since I'm more of a prose-writer than a poet. :]
The first one is technically a song, but I have no way of recording it or posting the "sheet music" (which wouldn't help much anyway, as it's merely the rudimentary rhythm markings, not actual notes), so you'll have to read it as a poem. Deal.
"Graveyard of Trees"
A graveyard of trees
Burnt down and felled
A graveyard of trees
Where the living daren't tread
Nobody knows where
the souls all go
Nobody knows where
they all hide
No riches can replace
the gnarled and twisted
black shards
of the Earth's wisdom
A graveyard of trees
Burnt down and felled
A graveyard of trees
Where the living daren't tread
The next two were written as poems.
"Lightning Bug Faery"
Burning out.
Flash.
Night envelopes.
Flutter of light.
A hand thrust forth.
Snatch.
Faery.
"Farmland Hills"
Hazy shades of gold
painting the land
with a coat of gloss
dripping the world
with glistening rain.
