Marilyn Writeenberg looked out the train's window.
"Fourteen months...." She said to herslef, letting her brunette hair fall into her face.
"Out there...in that battlefield.." She said.
She cluched her gun, her only weapon, tightly. Last month, she had gotten orders from the military to abandon her desk job and head out into battle. Marilyn sighed. She though of how stupid she had been, asking the military for a job two years ago. She had been young, at the age of 20, now 22, going on 23.
"Mary," A girl sitting beside her said kindly. It was Hannah Rockwell, Marilyn's good friend and neighbor, at 20 years of age, and also transfered.
Marilyn smiled at Hannah kindly and asked;
"Yeah, Hannah?"
"Mary, you need to calm down. The cheif would never let us out their as women." She stated.
Marilyn nodded and sat back, relaxing.
An older, 27-year-old woman named Janet Bland nodded.
"Hannah is right, my dear Marilyn."
Marilyn turned her attention to Janet and smiled.
"Of course..."
