Growing up in the backstreets of Chicago sure isn't a picnic. One must harden themselves to cope, and do whatever it takes to get by. That includes, Nikki.

With a natural talent of melody, Nikki Monroe sings at the Blue Leaves club in downtown Chicago, to make a living. Along with her best friend, who plays guitar along with her, she pulls in a nice income. But nice isn't great. While trying to make a little extra money, Nikki hits a local casino, where she gets into some trouble with the owners. Now, she's dealing with a lot more than trying to make ends meet, now, she's got dirty gangsters on her back.

But, with great best friends as support, and a cute guitarist, life may not be so bad...mabye.

Biography: Nikki, despite were she grew up, didn't have a very turbulent or trouble child hood. She was an only child, and grew up in a generally loving family, with two supportive, and hard working parents. Nikki's father spent his days working construction, while her mother did various jobs cleaning houses on weekends. However, Nikki's real trouble came around when she graduated high school, and went off into the real world on her own. She had made the choice to wait for college, until she was satisfied that she had enough money. Now, she wishes she would have jumped right into college after high school, for things are certainly worse than she had notion of. Singing at a local club in downtown Chicago, Nikki make an earnest living, but not near as much that will be needed to pay her way through school. So, she resorted to attending a casino around the same area of the club she performs at. What started as innocent gambling turned into something that she lost complete control of.
Personality: Nikki tends to be loud, and voices her opinion. She can hardly remain quiet for little more than a few seconds, and her actions usually get her in trouble. She also has a quick temper, that often causes her misfortune.

Biography: Jess had a troubled childhood, his mother leaving his father, Jess, and his younger brother when he was only five. It was hard to get through these periods of his life, but he made it work. His father has always been very supportive of him, and that's what made it all easier. Jess and Nikki have known each other since preschool, and have been good friends ever since. Jess, much like Nikki, has always loved music, but he hasn't the drive to pursue that dream, and aspires to go to Medical School.
Personality: Jess may seem quiet, or stand-offish, but he actually is quite the jokester. It just may take time to warm up to him.

"I'll see you after the show, right?" Jess asked as he and Nikki stood affront the Blue Leaves club. Nikki gave a nod of her head, and smiled. "Yes, just like every other night." She laughed. "Is Faith coming?" Nikki asked.

Jess shrugged. "I'm not sure, I called her, but she didn't pick up."

Andrew was already inside setting everything up.

Faith hurried outside and started down the street, jogging. Her car was broke and the club wasn't that far.

"Well, I have to go inside to get ready." Nikki stated, lingering by the door before opening it, and going inside the club. "Are you going to wait for Faith?"

Jess nodded his head, sticking his hands into his pockets to generate some warmth. "Yeah, you go ahead inside. I'll wait." With a nod, Nikki let herself into the club, and made her way through the crowded capacity full of people, to back stage.

Andrew glanced up at her and smiled."Nice to see you made it." He teased and set his guitar down.

Faith sighed and finally made it outside the club, out of breath. She saw Jesse and smiled, walking over to him.

"You know Jess can't drive." Nikki sighed, pulling off her heavy coat to guard against the cold Chicago weather. "Did you see all the people out there? Looks like were playing for a full house tonight."

"Took you long enough." Jess laughed, walking towards Faith. "What took you so long?"

"Awesome." He grinned, he always liked playing for alot of people; he really just loved playing in her band, she was the greatest thing thats happened to him...

Nikki began to plug in the amp for Andrew's guitar when a hair raising though occurred to her. In a soft, whisper she asked Andrew, "You don't think those...guys are here? Do you?" The events that had occurred after the casino incident scared her speechless, and it would only be a matter of time before they came looking for her. And Nikki wouldn't be hard to find.

"You should have called me!" Jess stated with a cheeky laugh, pulling out a chair for her at the bar. He gave a wave to the bartender, before turning back to Faith. "Do you need a ride home?"

Andrew frowned and moved so he was looking out at the crowd of people."I dont see them." he murmured.

"I didn't want to be a bother!" She laughed and slid up onto the stool, watching him with her bright blue eyes."Sure, if you don't mind..."

"God, I hope their not here!" Nikki cried, pacing the floor in a nervous manner. "I mean...how would they know I'm here in the first place?"

"Its not problem at all!" Jess said nonchalantly. "I'll probably have to give Nikki a lift home too, depending on what she's doing after the performance tonight."

He frowned a bit and moved back over to her, pulling her into a hug."JUst calm down, I'm sure it will all be fine."

"Oh... Okay." She said and turned to face the bar.

Nikki sighed, and her breathing evened out. "Thanks..." She muttered. "I guess we better get out there, or else we won't get paid." She joked.

"You alright?" Jess asked, noticing how quiet she had become. "Is there something wrong?"

"Yeah." He chuckled and let her go, grabbing his guitar.

"Ready?" Nikki asked in a sigh before plugging in her mic. "Your guitar is tuned and everything?"

Jess looked at Faith, his eyebrow quirked. "I worry about you sometimes." He laughed, shaking his head.

Andrew blinked."No, just worried is all..." He said softly.

"Your confusing me." Jess said defectively with a laugh. "So never mind." He tossed up his hands, in a gesture that he was 'throwing in the towel'. "So, what are you doing after the show?"

"I know... I'm just woried about you." He smiled slightly.

"I was just going to rent some movies," She shrugged slightly,"your welcome to come over, since your taking me there anyways..." Faith said, smiling slightly and glancing at him.

"Aw, thanks." Nikki laughed. "But I'm sure we'll be fine...hopefully." She sighed, second thoughts replacing a vague hope that they had no notion of where she was. "We'll...be fine."

"Sure!" Jess agreed, a thin smile coming to his lips. "Should we invite Nikki and Andrew?"

Nikki sighed, and gave a swift nod of her head. "As I'll ever be." She laughed.

He smiled and the lights dimmed a bit except on the stage where the curtains drew back; Andrew started playing.

"Wait!" Nikki exclaimed, but in a hushed tone. "I can't go out there..." She stated, backing away from the stage. "I saw someone!" Her tone was urgent, and fearful. This was certainly not what she had wanted to happen, not at all. Now she had to pay for the travesties that went on at the casino.

"I hate it when you don't answer me, woman." Jess grumbled playfully, shrugging off the subject and turning to the stage as well.

"Erm, one second evertone, just hold on." Andrew said before following after Niki."Who did you see?" He whispered, walking her back stage.

Jess rolled his eyes playfully at Faith before looking up at the stage. "Whats going on up there?"

He frowned and looked out in the crowed."Wanna go?" He asked, looking at her seriously.

Nikki sighed, contemplating the obvious. Had they stayed, she and Andrew both would be payed handsomely. And heaven knows they both needed the money, but the thought of being in the same room with the gangsters that owned the casino made her skin crawl. "Lets sneak out the back." She whispered, coming to her decision. We'll call Faith and Jess once we get out."

"Do you think she's okay?" Jess asked. Nikki wasn't exactly one to get stage fright. "Whats going on?"

He sighed but nodded. Andrew grabbed they're things after closing the curtains and went out back with her, a bit worried.

Nikki held on to some of the equipment, after pulling her jacket tighter around her body as the left the club, the icy wind cutting and whipping around them. "Why don't you give Jess a call?" She suggested, knowing full and well how worried he and Faith would be.

Jess sighed, glancing around the club, which wasn't the easiest thing to do, due to the smoky and dark atmosphere. "Do those guys in the black suits look familiar?"

"Yeah." He said, pulling out his phone and calling Jess as they walked. He made sure he could see her though still, he had a bad feeling.

"Yeah. I've seen them at a few other shows." She frowned, looking at Jess again.

Something still didn't feel right, but the thought that Nikki was no longer in the same room as the owners of the casino, made her feel a bit more secure. Maybe it was just the night air that made her so...jumpy.

"Hold that thought." Jess said, slipping his hand into his pocket and pulling out his phone. "Yeah?" He asked, keeping his eyes on the shady characters at the back of the club.

"Hey, Nikki doesn't feel good so I'm taking her home." Andrew said to the other man, ushering Nikki to his car.

"What do you mean? Whats going on?" Jess asked, taking his eyes back to Faith. "Is she sick?"

Nikki sighed, stepping into the car, and shoving her hands into her pockets. Fear, and the icy chill of the city was not a good combination, and what she really longed for was home.

"Yeah, shes burning up and I dont want her home alone so I'll be staying the night there." He said, getting in his car. He felt bad about lieing but what else would he say?

Faith frowned a bit.

Jess sighed, putting a bill on the bar, to pay for the drinks. "Alright, call me tommarow, and tell her I said to feel better." He hung up the phone, and looked at Faith. "Andrew said Nikki sick, and he's taking her home." He explained, though he didn't feel so sure.

"You didn't have to lie." Nikki said, looking out of the window. "I'm just paranoid is all." And, with good right. But she didn't want to think about all of that now, she really just wanted to get home, and get some rest.

Jess let a sigh fall from his lips, and stood from he stool, stretching out his legs. "Well, I guess I can take you home, if you want." He offered.

"'I don't know..." Nikki sighed, nonchalantly shrugging her shoulders. "I guess it really doesnt matter. I just hate lieing to them, ya know? Especially under the circumstances."

"Do you still want to stay over for movies?" She asked softly, frowning a bit.

"Oh! Yeah, sure!" Jess said, uncomfortably itching the back of his neck. He had forgot all about that, and was now bashfully embarrassed. "Lets go, you know what movie store you want to go to?"

"You don't have to stay." Nikki told him, still keeping her eyes looking out the window. "Its not like the know where I live, and I'm not sure it was even them." She sighed, looking at Andrew this time. "Besides, you probably have other stuff to do."

Jess caught up with Faith, holding the door open for the both of them, and winced slightly as the cool air bit through him. "Ah, its colder out her than it was earlier." He said, pulling his coat closer around him. "Anyway, what movie place did you want to go to?" He asked, directing them to his car.

"I don't know." Nikki shruged, looking down at her gloved hands that were in her lap. "You just seem like your always doing something." She said with a laugh. "Am I not right? Your a pretty busy person."

Raising an eyebrow, Nikki giggled upon seeing what was in Andrew's trunk. "Carry that around with you, often?"

His laughter could be heard as he got dressed in a t-shirt and boxers, making his way back out to the couch.

He shook his head, pressing the buttons on the remote.

"What wrong with you?" Nikki asked, working out a tangle in her hair. She plopped down onto the couch, and reached for the remote, smiling. "Aw, sorry nothing is on TV." She teased.
