The Dead Man's Hand

Thousands of years ago, a war erupted between the Shadeis Line of Psychics and the Darka Line of Shadowers. No one knows how or why the feud began, but the generations have still fought in secrecy. Now, the future Psychic elders, a group of fifteen and sixteen yearolds, have an infiltration at their high school from the Darkas. The outcome of the war and the fate of thousands rests on their shoulders. What to do?

PSYCHICS:
main powers:
The Normal mind abilities (telekineses, telepathy, ect. i'm sure u know the drill)
Increased inhuman strenth with each level (See levels)
can funnel magics if they wish

SHADOWERS:
main powers:
Bending the dark abilities to will (Basically, black magics.)
Control 94% of death.
increase dependencey with each level.

LEVELS:
THe levels are basically like the belts in karatie. you test, if you pass you gain a level.
Levels 1-10 1 being beginer, 10 being ready to be an elder (Highest and most powerful rank.)
Both clans learn and master different techniques with each new level.


Rules:
1. All powers must have limits!!!!! Nothing in this thread can give you anything you wish.
2. NO PLAYING GOD!!! most of us will be on the same side. play nice!
3. no one in our age group is above a level 6 YET!!! the psychics are prepairing to skip to levels 8 and 9 (fyi)
4. Don't make anyone else feel bad (specially me) Just remember, we mess up, we mess up together! Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
5. No more than 7 rpers. Please! I know in all of my threads two spots are already taken. me and my sisters.
6. Don't start applying or start the story untill i say go.

Bio: Amara's grandfather is one of the head elders of the clan, and also Amara's mentor.
No one knows at school who the inseperable pair really are. Except a close group of friends. in one weeks time, Amara is about to skip and test for level 9 so his grandpa, Arelis, is really pushing him. Not only in powers, but in hand to hand too! he has to be able to take down a shadower with bare hands before they use their minds.

Bio: Danika is a naturally quiet girl, almost always hidden in her shadows, playing weak and stupid. She is the exact oposite. She can kick a guy's butt that is four times her size within five minutes. She was extensivly trained in the body, her knowing every pressure point. That's what makes her strong. She is naturally drawn back and almost always has an opinon, just never vocalizing it. She was told she had an older brother, but she never found him. She always did wonder about him. She's about to skip a level and go to an 8, so her foster father is pushing her. Hard. Almost over her edge.

Amara jumped off the school bus on a paticularly cold morning. HE entered the high school and into the cafeteria. He took a seat and waited for his friends, floating random objects with his mind to keep from boredum. making sure noone realised what he could do.

Danika looked at the school. She walked in the doors, instantly regretting the fact she moved here. "Let me go, you hag!" was the first thing she heard. "Interesting," she told herself, walking to the office behind the teacher and struggling girl.

Cornelia walked down the hall looking nowere except forwards, she realy didnt like the cold, she nade her way to the lunch room

Amara appeared in the princapals office.
"Hey! Bit*h!" He shouted at the teacher.
She whipped around and released Rei.
Amara moved the hag with his mind and threw her into the front desk.
"Lets go to first bell shall we rei?" He asked whipping everyone's memories clean except for their own.

Danika followed the two with her cold blue eyes. "How very interesting," she whispered. A Psychic and a Shadow in the same school. This could turn out quite interesting. She smirked then walked to the desk. "Excuse me," she told softly.

The woman half asleep snapped awake.
"yes dear, how may i be of assisstance?" the secretary asked putting her glasses on.

"I'm new here. My name is Danika. D-a-n-i-k-a." she told. "I need my scedule."

THe woman typed on her keyboard.
"Last name?" she asked sipping her coffee.

Danika's eyes darkened. "Todd." she muttered.

THe secretary contiued typing and then pressed the print.
She pulled the paper off the tray.
"Here you go Miss Todd" THe secretary said suspicously aware, but still smiling.

"Thank you, Miss. Hueit." Danika thanked and walked out. Now, she had to wait until the woman realized that she wasnt wearing a name tag. Danika smiled. Oh, the perks of being a Shadow.

The woman played with her act. she picked up the fone after she had left.
It rang three times and then answered.
"Arelis, its Tantea. its happened. What do i do?
Understood. and do i have your athurity to strike?
YES! Thank you sir. and Amara? Will he be safe?
Alright, i've got to go. Bye." she completed her conversation and put the phone on the reciever.

Danika walked through the halls, aware she was watched by the camera. She looked at said camera, concentrating. One little push and it went off line. She smiled, whipping out her phone. "Father, I'm made." she told. "How do you know? he asked back. "I just do." she told. ".....Alright." "What do I do?" she asked. "Stay. Until they unleash an attack, then that's where you stop holding back and come home." he ordered. "Yes sir." Danika put her phone away and walked down the hall, the camera coming back online.

Amara and Rei entered their first period and awaited its start.
A girl they'd never seen before entered the room.
Whos that? Rei asked.
Like i know! Amara answered.
As the girl walked by, he felt a wave of dayjavou. then his nerves went tingly.
He knew her from somewhere.

Danika had her things in her bag already, and had pulled up a black, lacy fan to keep the sun out of her way. She hated it. Not only that, she had seen enough.

Danika sat on a bench outside of the school. Time for the fun to begin. At least until it hurt. She glared at the sun. Clouds moved over it, swiftly. Any psychic could feel her power, weak or not.

Danika now had her eyes closed. Her bag was next to her and she still had her umbrella up for kicks. Her legs were crossed, one gently shaking as she called her greatest power up, surrounding the school.

Danika giggled, switching legs. Psychic's, so fun to play with! More shadows surrounded the psychics. Everyone could feel it and they'd go into a panic. She giggled again.

rei fell onto the floorand sat her eyes wide she watched as other students ran by.......she didnt know why but this seemed familiar

Danika was outright laughing now. She was having so much fun. A boy formed from the shadow's behind her, leaning on the bench. "Dont use too much," he warned. "I wont. Go home." she told playfully. "Just a warning. Dont kill anyone!" he wared a second time. "I'm just f***ing around with them. They're fun." she admitted. The boy smirked and disappeared.

rei stood up in a daze leaving her locker open and her sketch book on the floor and walked towards the dooras though she was in a trance

Danika blinked. This psychic, she was different. She still smiled.

Danika looked at her, wide eyed. Only Shadows were supposed to know that. Danika smiled, standing. She put her bag on her arm, then held out her arm. "Miss. Rei," she politely asked.

Danika smiled. "Later." she told. For now, you are to come with me, Miss. Rei." Danika requested.

Danika put blue eyes on Rei's. Why are you standing out here, talking to me in a language only Shadow's know? Danika smiled.

Danika's smile widened. "You're not speaking english." she pointed out.

rei rose her eyebrow 'yes i am' she said in the laungage again

Danika looked at her. "No you're not." she sang, switching languages.

Danika shook her head. "Maybe a tad. But, with the Shadow language, it feels so natural that it is like English. I get confused all the time as well." she explained. "Somehow, you're connected to said Shadows." Danika said, offering her arm again.

"sorry but i dont think so.i may not remember my pastunder the age of 13 but uh there is no way i can be connected to the shadows" rei said annoyed in english

"Prove it," Danika dared, her arm still up for offer. "If you're a true blood psychic, the Shadow Accadamy will let you go. My word, and mine always goes above everyone elses."

Danika smiled. "Come." she requested again.

Danika sighed, sitting down again, crossing her legs. "Have I given you a reason not to? If I wished, I could have killed everyone while I was in the school." she stated. "But I didnt, did I?" She smiled again.

Danika smiled and stood. She offered her arm again. She was the only one on that spot that knew what she was doing.

Danika smiled. "Thatta girl." she told. The shadows on the school lifted and everything became sunny, birds chirping and so forth again.

From a distance, Amara saw rei with the girl. Using his mind he pushed the two apart and appeared infront of them.

Danika lowered her hand. This boy, he was not the one she wanted. "What do you want?" she asked, not sounding mean or anything.

"Well for one i know who you are now and i am not gonna let you take my best friend anywhere." Amara stated firmly, knowing that he was compramised.

Danika sighed, sitting down again. Dang it! She adjusted the black, lacy umbrella before looking at him with a smile. "Oh really? You know who I am, Mr. Amara Blackthorn?" she asked, crossing her legs.

"But i did not come here to fight."

Danika's smile wavered, but for a moment. She got up. Something told her not to associate with this boy. "Coinsidence. Neither did I." she told, walking by Rei, then stopping.

"Lets do this formally shall we? Amara Blackthorn." he said holding his hand out to Danika

Danika didnt take his hand. Instead, she just bowed like a lady would back in the old days. "Danika." she told. "Nice to meet you, psychic." she told, not meaning it as an insult. "Miss. Rei, my offer still stands." she told, smiling.

{When Danika started toying with the psychics, Rei came outside and spoke in a Shadow language. That's when Danika offered to take her to Shadow territory to check to make sure she was really psychic and if she was, and Danika was wrong, Danika would return her without a scratch. ^^}

Danika sighed. For some reason, a kind of love for this boy was forming inside her. She wanted to leave. Now. "I was sent for one, I shall return with one." she told, masking every emotion perfectly. "Miss. Rei, may we please go?" Danika asked again.

"Wait just one second, will you? I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me, promise me, that she;ll come back to my people." Amara told Danika

Danika got real voilent real fast. She shoved him out, hard and dove into his, protecting hers with the shadows. Dont you EVER do that to me again! I will not hesitate to snap your scrawny neck! she screamed, whipping around and almost draging Rei now.

Danika stopped. "Why are you trying to pull away? Its not like I hit you or anything." Danika said, turning to face her. "Or is it the psyco bable they teach you at psychic schools. 'Never trust a Shadow. They're like the shadows they contol: dark, unworthy and frighting. If faced with a Shadow, kill it.'" Danika quoted an actual lession. "I am not that type of girl. If you had said no, I would have continued to go to that school until you said yes. I am not the type to take those unwilling." she explained, keeping her blue eyes on Rei the entire time.

Amara returned home. all of the lights were off.
"Did she guess Blackthorn?" a familar voice asked, hidden in the dark.
"Yes." Amara replied.
"Good. they're still ignorant." Said Arelias, turning on the lights.
"Maybe but they took Rei." Amara told him.
"Yes i know."
"What should we do about it?" Amara begged.
Arelias stood, and approached Amara.
His grandfather took a deep breath in and exhaled.
"Nothing."
Amara looked down at his feet.
"Da*n."
"I understand Amara, but we can't interviene. if the shadowers say they will reliease her if she passes then, we have no choice but to hope that they will keep that promise."
"But couldn't you just.....i don't know, go there by mind, retreive her, and come back in an instant?"
"And what would that accomplish? A radically Pi*sed off shadower? A stalemate in the war that no one even remembers how it started? Yes, i could do as you have just said but it wouldn't change a thing. that girl, Danika, would keep hounding all of you at school. now, enough of this. lets go up to the sancutary shall we? its time for your prepartation." Arelias told Amara, leading him through the ENORMUS manshion, with an arm around his grandson's shoulder.

Danika went through a forest. Coming out, she bet Miss. Rei didnt even know that they traveled over 500 million miles just in the shadows. Upon coming out, a large, green land with a basic castle greeted them. "Welcome to Shadow Accademy, Miss. Rei." she told.

Danika walked, waving with a finger to her fellow Shadows, who looked happy. Some were preps, geeks, jocks and goth's. They could actually pass for normal people. They were doing all kinds of Shadow tricks. Some were levitating in a circle, others were passing a shadow ball back and forth and others were just running and playing tag. "Not what you thought, is it?" she asked, looking at Rei.

Danika giggled. She teleported to the main room. "Master, I bought her like you asked!" she called, giggling. She gently tugged Rei in front of her. "Good. Take this to Arelias." he demanded. Danika took the paper and bowed. She teleported out, standing in front of the mansion.

"I want to quadripple promote." Amara interuppted him.

"An elder. thats the point." Amara told him, now sitting crossleged in the BEAUTIFULLY polished wood santuary.
"Amara," he said taking a seat infront of him.
"No-no person or psychic has on taken on that many levels at a time, nor has anyone become that younge of an elder."
"I know that grandpa, but you told me youself along time ago,
theres a first time for everything."
Arelias looked at his grandson and grinned.
"IF youre sure,"
"Positive."
Arelias stood, popping his knuckles, cracking his back, and twinking his neck.
"Alright then." He said. Arelias threw his hand up and lifted Amara high into the air with his mind.

Danika knocked on the door, smiling.

A bunch of Shadow elders went up to Rei. "What's your name?" one asked.

Amara looked down at the floor.
"You have to concentrate." Arelias told Amara, looking up at him.
"How is this going to help my mind abilities?"
"There are several aspects of the mind, Amara, one of them is consintration. If you consintrate on getting down from there, it compinsates for the fact that you fear of falling."
As his grandpa continued, Amara noticed the huge throw rug he was pacing on. and idea formulated.
"YOu see, this is a tecknech used by our kind for a long time, it helps you focus on what you have to do, and eliminates distractions. you see-"
Amara wrapped his mind around the rug and pulled it right out from underneath Arelias, who fell to the floor.
Amara soared down from the ceiling, stradled Arelias and drew in an energy ball, threatinging to smash him with it.
"Resourefullness and point blank power. you truely are my grandson." Arelias said standing.
It was then he heard a knock at the door.
Both amara and arelias felt her presence from 1000 feet below them.
"Its them."

Danika smiled, serenly as she lost herself in the piano music. This felt so much like home. Her bag and umbrella was next to her as her fingers created the magic. She sang the japanese lyrics after a while and it sounded pretty.

"Wait here will you?" Arelias told amara, moving downstairs.
Keeping well hidden, he thrusted the doors open with his mind.

Immediatly, piano music and gentle, but sweet, singing reached his ears. It flowed around the room. Danika had her blue eyes closed and a smile on her lips. She knew he was there.

Arelias was there but he didn't wish to be seen. He pulled the her inside and slammed the door, stopping that racket.
"Why are you here Danika, knowing that its a possibilty that i would kill you on sight? Arelias said taking hold of the girl with his mind; showing off just a bit to his grandson, who was watching with his own mind.

Danika's piano playing halted. "Hello Mr. Amara, Mr. Arelias. I am sorry I intruded like I did. It was rude. I saw the piano and couldnt resist." she admitted, picking up the piece of paper. "Its for you." she told, walking over. She handed it to him before sitting back down, facing him and not touching the piano.

Arelias appeared and forced the girl to the wall in a choke.

"Dont act as if you know me! I havent touched anyone in a voilent way. You went into my mind. No wonder psychics hate us. You teach them to. Us 'Shadow's. Once you say it, you think of destruction, shadows, pain, suffering and everything inbetween! We're not like that! If anything, we're like you. Only with darker abilites!" Her eyes had been blue for a long time.
"You think this is fun?!! Being looked at as if you're a killer?! When you're innocent! I hate it! I've wanted to leave so much for so long! To get away from this f***ing war!" she shouted.
"I HATE IT! I'm not a killer! I'm just a teenager! A teenager who doesnt deserve to do this s**t!!" she shouted. She knew it wouldnt get through. They'd think she was lying. Her face told all of her emotions.
"LADY DANIKA!" a voice shouted.

The only thing on that land that belonged to me was my mind and he voilated that. We havent killed a psychic in years. 1,550 to be exact. Ever since the new leader took over. Killing: its pointless." Danika looked down. "'Your kind'? Am I really that much different than you?" Danika was quiet, tears falling. She leaned her head back. She sighed, smiling bitterly. "Can you please let me go? I want to go..... back. This place, it feels like home yet I know I belong back there. Psychics, they'd kill me if I stay. Forgive me, I'm rambling." she told.

"1550? My wife was murdered by one of your people not FIVE YEARS AGO! i've never found the killer, so i kill as many as i can, hoping one day i just might get the right one! For all i know, it could have been you who krept room to room that night and murdered Scarlet Shoktua Black Shadeis. BUt wait," he said holding a finger up to her forehead,
"I can find out can't i? Ha ha , why didn't i think of this earlier?" Arelias dove easily into the girls mind, the memory wasn't there.
He pulled himself out.
"Ok, not you. but someone in your clan is defying the rules and double crossing you." He said, still holding his grip.

Danika slammed her foot into his stomach, then kicked his jaw. "I TOLD YOU TO STAY OUT OF MY F***ING HEAD!" she screamed at him. "AND YOU, OLD MAN, JUST F***ING KILL ME! LIKE I WANT TO LIVE ANYMORE! Not after what I've been through, and trust me, suicide for a Shadow doesnt work out too well." she growled.

Arelias hadn't even been remotely hurt by the little screaming girl, but still slapped her across the face in punishment.

"You should have tought him better! Stay out of my mind! And I thought I asked you to kill me." she growled. "If you're not gonna, then beat me and let me go back to that hell hole I'm forced to call a home!"

"Now, if you don't want to go back to where you came from, whould you like to stay here?" Amara offered, his grandfather stepping back.

Danika appeared in the same place she was not 5 seconds before.

She resisted the urge to throw something. Hard. She breathed, calming herself down. "You're kidding. I'M STUCK HERE?!!! D**N YOU FRECKING PSYCHICS TO H**L!!" she vented. "Breathe, Danika, breathe." she muttered over and over. Great. She was stuck in a Psychic's house. A psychic who's grandfather just tried to kill her and he did succed in hitting her. She sighed. "Peachy."

Amara lead Danika through the halls of his family's manshion, TEN times the size of Bukingham Palace. He turned into one of the more remodeled areas of the wing; but its age, beyond his by at least 300 years.

Amara stopped at a pair of double doors, and pushed them open and walked inside.

"This should be suitable for you, it was my mothers after all.......when she was six." Amara told her, leading her in the almost hotel sweet.

"Its pink." Danika stated, horrified. "Pink!" she squealed, looking around, positivly horrified. "Dont you have anything... black?" she asked.

"Black? k,Boris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Amara hollared. The wind picked up from inside the room itself, the doors flew open, and the unseen spectrum entered. the sheets of the bed, comforter, pillows, mattress, head dressing, all bled from a more of a dark pink, into a lavish raven midnight. the walls, curtains, window panes, rugs, candles, painting and mirror frames, and even the flames of the fire swept into a pure black that matched the night.
"Better?" Amara asked, turning to Danika.

Danika was happy. "Can I go get my things now?" she begged, despite for her Evanescence, raido, sketch book and laptop.

Amara pointed to the king sized, and there atop, sat Danikas belongings. All accounted for: Evanescence, raido, sketch book and laptop.
"This house has more personallity than we ever anticipated," Amara told her, moving towards the rooms kitchen area, not separated from the bedroom, and flipped the coffee on.
"Want some?"

Danika punched the doorframe, growling quietly. Her fists tightened. "LET ME OUT, YOU STUPID HOUSE! Its not like I wont come back!!" she screamed.

"i don't think it heard you, why dont you try a little louder."
Amara breezed sarcastically, poring himself a cup of french brewed.

Danika turned to him, twitching. "How do I get out of here?! For an hour, at least?" she stated through clentched teeth. "If the old man doesnt let me play his, I want MY piano!" she stated again.

"You cant exactly get out of the house to go get things,....but things can come to you. look" amara told her pointing to the corner where a 1950's styled Grand appeared, polished to the brink of too much shine.
"Yours i presume?" He asked her leaning onto the bed.

Danika resisted, heavily, the urge to just kill herself. Not like she didnt try that. "I have something I want to get PERSONALLY! Why wont this stupid house let me out?!" she yelled again, ready to just quit and lock herself in the room. But, then again, her shadow binds didnt work here. The old man or Amara could walk in at any moment.

"When Danika get's back, she'll explain EVERYTHING. Until then, how about you go see your room? We fixed it up a little." they told.

"we honestly don't know why the house acts on its own. we can't exactly ask William Blacthorn Shadeis II. hes sorta in the backyard cemetary,......................not too far from my father." Amara told her, hushing the last part.
