I have a friend with Scottish origins. I THINK she's from the Gordon clan, but I'm not sure.

My last name is Scottish but I know very little about my dad's side's ancestory.

My last name is one that could be Irish or Scottish, but in my case it's technically Scottish. I think it was my great-grandfather on my father's side who came over from Scotland. Or it was his father. No one ever gives me an answer that makes any sense. In order to find out my clan association, I probably need to research for my family individually, especially since my last name is only very tenuously linked to the MacKay clan. People squabble over whether my last name is a variation of this other last name or not, so no one's entirely sure.

My nother's Maiden name is Hoog, which Scottish, and my great-grandmother's maiden name is Ross, which is scottish

Unless I'm mistaken, there's a Clan Ross, right? Which is neat. I bet Hoog is a lot more difficult to find information on, though...

My grandfather's mother's name was MacCurdy, which is from the clan MacKirdy. I think that's my only Scottish root. I'm one half miscellaneous Celt. :D

I meant Hogg, not Hoog.

Ata a local place they have hogg as being Scottish, and my real last name, Callanan, is Irish.
