"...I remember everything as if it happened yesterday... The scent of blood, the cries from the injured... And her look. Those eyes that bewitched me in a second, those eyes that made me think about someone else than me. the moment lasted only one second, but it was enough for me..."

This happened long ago, and this words were taken from the mouth of a man that was dying. During the war between the kingdoms of Esire and Drain, he fell in love, in love with the enemy. we do not know what happened, but... Do we want to know?

The world of Azarine is made up of two kingdoms, the kingdom of Esire, and the kingdom of Drain. Esire is known for its beauty and light, while Drain is known for its calm and never-ending night. These two separate kingdoms have never gotten along. Now a war has begun between them and chaos has been spreading like a deadly illness. For what their people do not know is that love is among the born enemies, and is between the lovely Lady Loraine and Lord Kane Born to hate one another, yet grown to adore one another. For what I’m about to tell you is the wondrous story of the two, and their tragic tale of death, love, and war.

World of Azarine:
Land of the light, Esire is a kingdom of day and has never seen a night, a moon, a brilliant blanket of stars. Its days are full of warmth and life, and light. The castle stands watch over the many towns and people. Its king and queen are kind and gentle, sweet and strong. Many flowing rivers surround Esire, one of them being the great Taiyou river.
Over to the Drain, a world of silence and peaceful night, and beautiful Star kissed skies. Unlike the Esire, Drain have the nights of the world of Azarine, they never to see a blissful sunrise. The people of this country are silent and wise, like their ruler, Feito. Many forests and mountains surround Drain, covering the many towns and cities. As the Esirians, the Drain also have a great river named, Tsuki.

The Azarine and the Esire have never gotten along, for both of them are very different. The Esire do not understand the serious ways of the Drain, and the Drain do not understand the foolish ways of the Esire. The Drain think that the Esire do not deserve the day, and plan to take over the whole kingdom, and merge them into one..

Bio: Born in the Kingdom of Esire, and raised to be the new queen, Loraine has had a long but loved life. After discovering she is the chosen one to hold the staff of Akira, she learned that her powers would increase under the sun's protective embrace, but if she were to go into the blanket of the night, her powers would weaken and over numerous problems would occur. She now is not permitted to leave the town of Ray, she must stay and never set ground in the forests that connect them with the other kingdom. Loraine also has a sneaky personality on some days where she is sure she is not amiss she would travel into the forest of Twilight, where the sun is low at the ground and breathtaking colors swirl the skies. She starts to go there often when the war starts. When the war started, Loraine has had less time to learn the ways of being a queen. Her mother Loretta and her father Light, are busy trying to keep their territories safe from being destroyed.
Loraine has yet to learn much of the other kingdom, all she knows is to despise and hate them. Yet something in her heart and mind keeps her from wanting to do so. As I child she had often dreamed of the beautiful night and the wise moon.
As the days keep getting worse for the kingdom of Esire, Loraine is losing hope and fast.

Tutored to be a wise and skilled leader and trained to be a powerful warrior by the best trainers and tutors in the land. He became skilled in many forms of fighting and very smart, but he was being robbed of the individual aspect of his life, slowly feeling himself grow colder inside. After completing his studies and training, he decided to go traveling, in order to find himself in this land of darkness, but was called back from his journey early when the war started. He did not believe in the war at first, but was placed as a major commander and, to protect his future subjects, fought with everything he had, eventually finding himself forgetting why he was fighting in the first place, only that the battle must be won.

Loraine smiled at the cool breeze that fluttered through the trees as she looked about the Twilight Forest. Her hair fluttering in the wind, her bright blue eyes watching the beautiful colors as the light and darkness met. She couldn't help but feel as if the kingdoms would at least try to join, that this twilight would be never ending. She sighed to herself knowing that it would never be. A sweet fragrance of lemon entered her nose, as she looked down to see a patch of Evening Primrose. Her quick fingers reached down to lift the herb from its roots. She knew it was a wonderful plant for fevers. Tucking a stay of brown hair from her eyes, she began to turn her back to the beautiful sunset. The staff of Akira was in her free hand. She reached out toward a tree to balance herself as she walked across the steep ridge toward the town of Ray. The birds seemed to sing for the princess as she came into their sight. Just another day...that never ends.

Kain looked up at the endless night sky and sighed. It seemed unending, the fighting, the struggle, the death. He was tired of fighting for no reason, but he could not stop fighting. He went for a walk to clear his head, his serves not needed at this moment and he would take it to clam himself down and recollect himself. He started to wonder, and ended up finding himself in the forest of Twilight. It was between battles, so the forest was very quiet. Kain liked the feeling of quiet, and piece that the twilight seemed to bring. Perhaps after the war, he would spend more time here.

It was then she felt an odd feeling, the staff that she held tightly in her grip seemed to pulse as if danger was close by. Her heart lurked in her chest, at a fast rate. She lifted the staff and it seemed to float in the air, levitating. It began to move in the direction of the danger, leaving Loraine to chase after it. She ran, snapping twigs and breaking flowers as her bare feet seemed to guild her across the dirty ground. It was then the staff stopped as if it would go no further. Loraine reached forward to grab it, while doing so she could feel her heart stop in her chest. Something unfimilar entered her system, her mind..her heart. It was like something cold was running up her spine, something whispering in her ear. It was then it hit her, where she had came. It was the edge of her kingdom..
She gulped back the never ending amounts of fear and reached forward where the staff had stopped, and felt something so alien that seemed to drown her in an aching pain. She snapped her hand back into the sunlight that glittered off her fingers. "The dark.." She whispered, and then the presence entered her again. She looked to see a form of a young man, a young Drainian. She carefully moved to the back of a tree trunk to hide, her body completely submerged in the darkness. She found her breathing was shaky and off, her body was in a sweat of fear. "Akira.." She whispered as her staff and it seemed to glow and she began to glow as well. "To Ray." She whispered and closed her eyes, but when she opened them, she found herself still cornered behind the tree trunk. "Akira, to Ray." She ordered, but yet again nothing. Was the staff broken..? She then remembered the story, that she must not go near darkness, or it would weaken the staff and thus weaken her. She whimpered slightly, wishing for home.

Kain stopped in his tracks. His blade was tugging at its sheath, which only increased his knowledge of what he already knew. He sensed something.. something unusual.. something he had never sensed before, and something which did not belong. He hesitated for the first time, an ominous feeling welling up from his bones. He looked around, unable to discern where it was coming from. He started to search the aria for the source of his odd feeling

Loraine held her breath, wanting to run. She took a hold of the staff and with a tightened grip, started to speak in the old tongue of the Esire. "Coma, dilucesco, inlucesco.." She started to repeat the words, her staff glowing brightly. A pain started in her chest from all this power, she'd never used before. She stepped out of the cover of the dark and stepped before the Drainian. Her eyes as bright as daylight. Her staff protectively in her gasp. She gulped unsure of what now to do, this was the only option. She could either run and insure her demise, or she could fight back. Her eyes looked darkly upon the man. She rose her staff in a sign that she was to attack. Her skin began to become more and more pale, a sign of weakened abilities.

(Those words she spoke was Latin. xD)

(woh, cool)

The bright lights from the opponent that appeared in front of Kain blinded him for a moment, and made it impossible for him to discern any details about them, but he knew one thing at least, whoever it was must have been an Esireite. He pulled his blade from the sheath behind his waist and The Blade of Night's Shadow began to glow with an eerie dark light that seemed to envelop the light in front of him and helped shield him from the strong light he was so unaccustomed to. He raised his sword in a defensive manner, waiting to see what his opponent would do before he acted

Loraine attacked with lack of strength in her spell. A light of pure energy went forward attacking the male in front of her. She jumped backwards in a flip to escape a falling tree that she had oddly knocked down. Seeing now that she had missed only caused her annoyance. "What is your name?" She called out, her voice hiding the fear that seemed to want to poison her actions. "Are you my enemy? Are you one of them?" She accused, and stood her ground, her white dress flowing down to her knees. Her long brown hair flipping in the breeze. Her staff stood tall, yet seemed to dim weakly with every second. Her breathing was getting off balance. The darkness becoming so much for her to take. She waited for him to reply, her expression dead and dark. Readying for anything he would throw at her.

"I am a Drainian, if thats what your asking." Kain answered, recognizing the voice of a strong woman in the voice of his opponent, who he still could not see fully. "I am Kain Yokai, that is my name. Now I have given you my name, please be so kind as to give me yours, and why you are here" Kain asked in a commanding tone, not dropping his guard. Either she had fired off a warning shot, or she was not at full strength, he still needed to see how his opponent would play there hand.

She cleared her throat and in a graceful manner replied to his questions, "I am Loraine Akira, the princess of the Esire. For what I am doing here is not your concern." She hissed the last words, not really being able to tell why she was actually there. The dust cleared and she could see him. Her sky light eyes watched him like a hawk. She readied her staff once more for another attack unsure if it would even be possible. She took a step backwards as she watched her staff flicker with little life. Its energy draining, and hers as well. She gasped softly, dazed and angry with her weakness. It was then his name hit her like a bullet. "You're.." She couldn't complete her sentence, being full of shock. "No..this cannot be.." She shook her head. She then shook off her weary feelings and used the staff as a fighting tool. "I must defeat you for my kingdom!" She ran at him charging.

Kain had a policy about hurting woman, even when they where the enemy, and especially her state, he would not kill her yet. "I know not why you are here, but I know for certain that you have made yourself my most recent enemy, however.." he posed as she drew near, and blocked staff with his sword, feeling the weakness in her body and power and easily repelling her weakened attack. "However, you are not in any condition to fight me, and as such, I will spare your life from a disgraceful death" he said, tripping her up with his legs, then offering her a hand up, though with stone cold eyes. "You are not well, so I-". His sentence trailed off as his words left his thoughts. He could now see his opponent clearly for the first time, the light from her staff weakened enough for him to see clearly, and everything else seemed to melt way. He no longer remembered this girl as his opponent, only that she entranced him completely, her beauty, even in anger and weakness, shinning threw, just like her eyes, which shone like the sky his people where fighting to claim dominion of. But that did not matter to the prince, who had thought for his own reasons before, now all that mattered was the beauty in front of him. "My appologies for treating you so rough, please, allow me to help you up" he offered again, this time with eyes filled with wonder, and sparkling like the stars above them

Loraine didn't take his hand she only got up on her own. Her stubbornness shining just like her rage. "I do not like defeat." Her voice was crisp like the hot sun. Her eyes locked onto him with hate, and disgust, but a shaking feeling started to well up in her heart. Those..eyes..she'd dreamed about those eyes. Her expression softened. "Listen here! You may be in line for your throne, but I command you show me some respect! Fight me! Fight me for the sake of your kingdom!" She seemed to scream in his face, her lips curling into a deep scowl, "Your to be damned kingdom has only caused us pain!" She balled her hands up into fists, heat soaring from her. "You've caused us nothing but pain, war, and hate! I hate you! I hate you!" She hollered at him, her body walking up close to him, in an overpowering manner. She reached forward to slap his cheek, but as she did so an amazing amount of dizziness plagued her actions and all that was due was a slight hit upon his cheek. Shaking it off she pushed him, she wanted to hurt him. Tears welled up into her skied eyes and pain rolled onto her features. Her staff nimbly slipped from her fingers and for a second the world went dark. Her long brown hair slung into her face as she looked to the ground, out of his sight was her crying eyes. Small droplets of tears began to fall and hit the dirt. "Fight me." She repeated her words, with an evil tone.

Kain looked down at the girl for a moment. She hatted his kingdom, but he no longer had any such feelings for her. "As you wish." he said, sheathing his sword, "But not here, and not now. You would not be satisfied fighting me like this, would you? You seem to be getting weaker the longer you stay here, so I propose something to you. Meet me in the neutral zone of the forest of twilight, where night and day meet equally, when you will not be in this kind of state. I will take you back to your world of light, and then wait to fight you there, how does that sound to you?" he offered. He would grant her request for a fight, because that is what she wanted, but he could not bring himself to fight an opponent who could not even stand up. He intended to do this with or without her consent, but he was willing to wait for her response before he did.

Loraine's eyes looked up at him, and then she sighed, "Fine then I accept the challenge." She turned away from him, bending over to pick up the staff. Her eyes looked forward and she found herself lost. She knew she hadn't gone that far into the dark forest, had she? She looked around lost and confused, "Where is the Twilight forest..?" She asked softly afraid of his answer. She looked back at him, a heart breaking sunset in her eyes now. It was only because she was getting weaker and weaker that this transformation was occurring. "Which way do..I go?" She held the staff in a tense manner afraid of losing it in anyway. A pulsation ran through her veins. She crippled in pain a low growl of frustration vexing her throat. I cannot be..here, I am unmeant to be here! She thought angry with herself. She sighed and her hands went to her hips, her foot tapping in agitation.

"I guess I can help you with that too" Kain said, suppressing a sight. In her current state, how could she have even thought about fighting him. He knew the aria around the twilight forest well enough, having studied it for many battle strategies, and so after a moment of thinking, he knew exactly how to get there. "Do you need my help to walk, or can you handle that in your currant state?" he asked, removing any amount of cynicism from his voice before he did. He knew he would be fighting her later, but he felt like he did not want to offend her for some reason.

"I shall not accept curtsy from a man such as yourself." she evened her eyes at him and used her staff as a walking instrument. "Thank you though." She added more softly then her first reply. "I will be well in the sunlight, this darkness of yours wounds me." She explained, yet she didn't know why she was explaining her one weakness to this person, it would be a danger would it not? "So we will fight as soon as I am healed." She commanded. "I promise not to go easy on you." She sealed her lips then not wishing to speak another word. As she reached the Twilight forest, her hand extended out to the warmth of the sun. Her skin started to sparkle with life as did her staff. Her eyes went closed at the soft like touches of the sun. Her lips opened softly at the feeling, being so pleasurable. Her entire form glittered at the rays. Her dress waving in the light breeze, and a very spaced look upon the woman's face. She did not speak, she listened to the numerous sounds of the beautiful forest.

Kain shook his head, not understanding her actions at all. He sighed, and walked to the neutral spot in the twilight forest, a place where light and darkness where at balance. This is where he said he would fight her. He allowed his eyes to adjust to the odd light in the forest, and waited calmly, collecting his thought. He had promised her a fight, and he would give it to her, but only if she could fight back.

Loraine sank to her knees kneeling, her staff sitting taller than her upward to the sun. A powerful vivid light shone down upon it, as if it were soaking up the sun's powerful rays. She sat there bowing to it, and let go, it float there on its own as if life surged through it. After a few minutes of such she finally stood once more, her eyes more alive then before. "Fight." She commanded taking the staff which was clearly glowing with life now. "I shall have politeness and let you go first, my sworn enemy." She bowed, a sinister smirk formed on her lips.

Kain drew his sword, and the shadow started to crawl out from it again. "As you wish" he said. He would give her what she wanted, as she requested. He charged her quickly, mostly to test her reflexes to make sure she was ready to fight, aiming his blade at her right shoulder.

Yet she wasn't there, she was already behind him. Her arm wrapped tightly around his waist, her eyes burning with rage but amused as well. She was feeling something she'd never experienced before.. it felt like flames. Like a raging heat soaring in her heart. She whispered another Latin phrase and the staff lifted in front of him. "This may hurt..a bit." She whispered darkly in his ear. A blinding light surrounded them, making it impossible to see. "I can also make it impossible to see just as darkness can." She laughed hotly. "Only in my own way of using the light against you." She held him tightly wondering if maybe his strength was stronger than hers.

Kain contemplated how to get out of his. He could not see, but he did not have to, and ignoring the burning in his skin that the light was started to inflict he thought. He could have easily slipped from her grasp, but he liked being held by her too much to do that, but then, he did promise to fight her.. "You talk to much" he said, spinning his upper half around with inhuman flexibility so he could face her. "Thats better" he said with a smug grin and smacked her in the pressure point of the right shoulder with the hilt of his blade to weaken her grip, although he did not slip out just yet. He wondered if he hit to hard, he might have knocker her shoulder out of its socket if he was too careless, but then, he also agreed not to hold back.

She winced at the pain that seemed to shock through her body, letting him go she gasped her shoulder and glared at him. She rose her right hand and the staff came flying to her. She spun on her toe and acted as if she was walking away, really not exactly. Her form disappeared in another flash of light and she was now blinking everywhere around him. Many forms of herself around him, she closed her eyes and they all closed their eyes. "Which one is the real one, hmm?" She asked and they all asked, her voice echoing around him. A strong heat started to form from them as they danced around in a circle about him.. "You better figure it out before the heat gets worse." She hissed echoing.

(Tis alright. I understand.)

Loraine gasped as the clones disappeared, her heart beating hard in her chest. She stood there unmoving a split second. She glared and sneered, "Your darkness is proved to be strong. How insulting, that you do not attack with you're full strength. Become the moon that your kingdom protects so carefully. Be one with your endless night. As I am with my endless light." Her eyes were getting lighter and lighter in hue. The sun soothed her back with its rays and she basked in it. She closed her eyes and her power faded for a second, rebooting with the sun. This being another one of her weaknesses. She had to actually hold the sun in her body or else it would fade. Her staff began to glow once more and she opened her eyes, this time charging him head on. "Ahh!" She screamed as she ran forward ramming him into the nearest tree. With a shake of the ground, she pressed one of her hands against his shoulder, her eyes burning fiercely into his. Her right hand holding on to the staff and pressing it against his neck.

"Your right, I have been holding back, and I am sorry" Kain said looking up at her. Energized with her great light, she almost seemed unearthly. "As you wish" he said, raising his sword. The tree he was pined up against was swallowed by darkness and he was able to flip back for a moment to compose himself. He raised his sword again, the Sword of Night's Shadow burned with the power of darkness. The shadows from his sword spun around his body like a vortex of water, and then solidified for an instant. "Full force, as you wished it. Black Dance Strike" He called, and rocketed forward at her with the force that would split a mountain in two, the shadows a blade in front of him and a shield on his sides and back.

Loraine squeezed her eyes shut, the wind fierce and cold on her face. Before actually hitting anything she actually switched places with him turning in the air, so when they made contact with an object he would take the blow. Yet something inside her clicked and she flipped back again, taking it all the way. A cry emitted from her lips as she felt pressure apply to her shoulders, hitting a large tree. Above them it made a cracking sound and threatened to fall. She was still to stunned to actually move, it was either the fact that she saved him, or..it was just the blow of the tree. Afraid to move, she looked at him, a lost look in her blue eyes. She didn't dare look down afraid to see any wounds from the blow, afraid to even know if she was really bleeding. A sick feeling came in her stomach and she felt dizzy. She gulped air and pushed him away from her. Yet she was stunned to not want to stand. She pursed her lips a moment and winced as she felt the tree fall behind her. "You'll pay for that." She said wickedly. Now struggling to her feet she wobbled off balance, a cut on the side of her head, bleeding scarlet waves down her hair and onto her neck.

She bit her lip not being able to explain, she limped roughly, her eyes dark and forlorn. "I have no reason to explain to the likes of you!" Her body shivered in waves of reasoning anger. Kain did not flinch when she held her weapon to him, he only continued to stand there, his blade sheathe and his eyes closed. "Then can you answer me this. Neither of us wants the other to be hurt, so why are we fighting?" he asked, not expecting any more of a satisfying answer to this question then the last. He fought because she asked him to, but why was it, if she couldn't manage to hurt him, was she so insistent in fighting.

She lowered her weapon, "Because it is my way of revenge for my people." Her voice was tainted in malice and hate. "You know nothing of us! You want to eliminate us! You want to destroy the one main thing thats keeping me alive!" Her eyes went to the burning ball of fire. We shall continue this weather you want to or not." Kain turned around to her, his eyes still closed. He did not understand why his people fought this war, but he still fought to be victorious, to prevent his kingdom from falling. "As. You. Wish" he said, drawing his blade with his uninjured arm and opening his eyes, them shinning like dark pools, the reflection of her fiery rage in his eyes shinning like the stars in the night sky. He forced her weapon deeper into his shoulder as he stepped closer to her until he was right in front of her, and then pinned her with his sword to the tree behind her by her dress. He reached to his wound in his shoulder, her weapon still in it, and stuck his fingers in it and pulled them out blood covered and made a rune in the air with those fingers. The rune of blood caught firer. "I will end this right here and now, if that is what you wish" he said coldly, as the rune began to spark wildly

She fought to free herself, struggling gasps rising from her throat. The staff reacted strangely to his actions, it unpierced itself from him and stood in the way of his path to her. If it were human it would seem like a protector.
Loraine's blue eyes seemed to be wide with shock and confusion, along with exhaustion. Her long strands of brown hair gathered in a wild dance with a strong wind passing by. Her staff grew brighter as the sun shined upon them all, a barrier grew around her and the Akira, full and pure with light. Loraine cried out something really not understandable. And a jagged heart beat, her world plunged into her own darkness, and she went unconscious. The staff still seemed to be acting with a will of its own. It's bright eye in the middle seemed to glare at him. His own sword went flying out of the shield and landed in front of him, a burning hiss coming from its shadow blade. Loraine's now unheld body slid down the tree. The staff seemed to gleam actually bribing Kain to come any closer. The grass beneath the staff seemed to be dying it's collected water being evaporated from the crazy amount of heat.

Kain ignored the pain in his shoulder. He picked his blade up from the ground and automatically the shadows emerged from the sword and wrapped around his wound. He took a few steps towards Loraine's fallen form and stopped, feeling the heat from the staff. "You wont stop me" Kain said, as if to the staff itself. The rune of blood flew next to Kain, fallowing him as he moved closer to Loraine. He wondered how difficult it would be to get threw the staffs barrier, but didn't care much. Whatever it took, he would go to her.. although, like fighting in this war, he did not know why.

The staff forced the barrier to become stronger the light pouring onto Loraine and she glowed like a holy angel. Her lips were twisted into a peaceful straight face. The barrier made a cracking sound as it felt Kain's entry. Like sting rays it attacked him hoping to force him backward.

Kain let the attacks land and so as they pleased to him, burning his flesh or pircing his body. The Sword of Night's Shadow protected his vitals, but other then that he showed no defense, he only slowly made his way over to Loraine. When he got to her, he knelt down and checked her vital signs to make sure she was alright, still ignoring the searing pain that continued to attack his body.

She whimpered something and the staff halted. Its powerful barrier taken down with just her word. She lightly opened her eyes, her vision blurring. "Your name is..Kain.." She whispered. Something in her mind told maybe he wouldn't harm her. "You're a prince of..darkness. I shouldn't even let you touch me." She said blushing softly. "I have failed in that feild as well as I now admit defeat. Please just end it." She begged him then for him to do her harm. "I'm sorry.." she said regretful. "I'm sorry I'm so weak." She bit back on her words. She probably sounded delirious, yet maybe it was the fact he didn't understand something that she did.

"Come now, your starting to sound like a Drainean" Kain said, dropping his sword and kneeling down next to her. "I thought you Esireites were supposed supposed to be all positive and happy, full of kind emotions and what not" he said with a soft smile on his face, his body starting to ache from the burns.

"I am like a Drainian." She muttered softly. "They've made me their source for their negativity." Her eyes watered softly, "I'm doing this all by myself. I have no one. My parents won't listen." She trembled softly. She needed to get home, they would be looking for her soon. "I'm nothing to them but a useless tool." She looked angry. "Me the "Great holder of the Akira." She said sarcastically. She twisted her gaze away from the man, wanting to double over because of the pain.

"I suppose you won't accept my advice or my help, so I won't even offer to heal you up." Kain said, spreading his hand out above her as black tendrils started began so weave there way down his arm and passed over her, sealing any cuts she had, "So I will do it without permission" he said when he was done. It was basic. She only looked like she had gotten a mild bruising now, although he couldn't vouch for any internal damage that she might have sustained. He then passed the tendrils over his own body to heal his burns. "My blade has a few useful tricks, but my use of this power is a way of saying that I have no more intention of fighting you" he said when he was done and then stood up to leave.

She scowled at the back of his head, glaring daggers. "Meet me here on the morrow." Her voice commanded. Her eyes blinked and she began to stand the only sound of injury was a small bruise on her shoulder. "Or I will come and get you." She smiled and took hold of her staff. Warmth rushed through her veins. She let out a satisfied sigh. "We shall not fight, we shall..immense in conversation." She declared to his retreating form. "No one is to know of our meeting, understand?"

Loraine sighed and started off in the opposite direction of him. Her blue eyes going happy, as she reached her home. She let a small smile form on her lips even though it was actually fake. People were running about, once one of them caught sight of her, they stopped and bowed,
"Thank the heavens!" He cried to her.
"What's wrong Zion?" She asked worried her eyes transfixed upon him only.
"We thought you'd been killed! Where in the world did you go?" He then realized who he was questioning. "I'm sorry Lady Loraine, forgive my rudeness." He bowed once more.
Loraine only nodded, "I'm sorry I can't seem to tell you the facts myself." She smiled softly and began to walk away. The news must have spread fast, everyone was calm now. As she walked the streets she could see the people bow in respect toward her, yet she could also see they were inspecting her and the staff for any harm.
When she arrived to the castle, her protector, Maria was waiting a deep scowl formed on her forehead. Loraine didn't like that look, it always meant she was in for a lecture. She sighed annoyed. "Yes?" She asked Maria.
"Where have you been we've been sick with worry----"
Loraine was half listening, her thoughts couldn't seem to leave the young Drainian..the prince...

As Kain walked back home, his thoughts could not leave the presence of Loraine. She was like nothing he had ever seen before, and he felt confusion bubbled up inside him when he tried to define what it was about her that fascinated him so much. He decided to leave it was it was until tomorrow. When he arrived at the palace of Drain he was greeted by the normal lot, but it was not uncommon for him to vanish for a few hours and turn up hurt, so it wasn't dealt with a great deal of concern. After being looked over by the finest medics in the land he was sent to his room to rest. He laid on his back and looked up at the roof of his room, enchanted to appear as the sky of night which stretched over his kingdom constantly. But rather then pondering the usual matters, he only found his mind returning to that girl from before. Tomorrow would not come soon enough for him

Loraine sighed as the usual her mother and father explained the dangers of leaving the city. She went to her room, took a bath in the hot springs and headed off to sleep. Kain's healing was working wonders but the bruise still hurt. She was lucky enough for anyone to not actually check her over for wounds. She laid in the comfort of the bed and in the darkness of her room. This was the only place really dark in the kingdom of Esire. She made sure the windows were sealed and no one bothered her. She looked up into the dark, her eyes glowing like stars. She turned onto her side and readied herself for the most restless night of her life.

With a moan, Kain got himself out of bed. He knew he had a few more things to do before bed. He started by washing himself off, he had blood and dirt all over, and he wouldn't want to deal with his parents in the morning without making sure he was in a presentable shape. Some of the scorch marks and burns were not completely healed, he had used most of his healing power to make sure that she was well treated, and the water stung on the burns. He dealt with the pain and cleaned himself up then changed and got back into bed, this time with the intention of going to sleep, although he did not expect much, thoughts of Loraine still dancing in his head.

Elsewhere the lord and lady of the castle where discussing there son's actions. The prince would be in for a rude awakening in the morning.

Dream~
Loraine's POV:
I stepped forward in the forest of Twilight. My feet bare, my skin glowed in the pink light of the sunset. My white dress wasn't in scraps like it was when the battle earlier on today. I looked forward and somehow I had walked all the way to the edge of the kingdom, my hand just inching to go to the darkness. My tears started forming in my eyes as I tried to gain control of my own body, yet I couldn't control anything but my own thoughts. My whole body was enveloped in the darkness. I waited for the sting and pain, but felt nothing but a numb feeling. Their moon glowed down upon me and seemed to be giving me strength. I heard a crackle of footsteps my attention shook upward to the darkened form. It was him. My heart seemed to ache a moment. My small hands trembled at my side, as if I was afraid or anxious. He kept walking toward me at a unbelievable pace, as if he enjoyed my now form. I closed my eyes to not look at him. My head low and my dark brown hair hung. I felt him draw closer and closer and when he reached me..he...

Loraine awoke in a cold sweat, her heart was pounding in her chest. She had taken a few gasps to control her shattered breathing. Her eyes scanned the room for him, but she found him not. A deep sighed formed at her lips. Lightly she laid her head back down and went back to sleep, dreaming nothing.

Kain did not sleep much, his head was full of thoughts. When he finally got to sleep, it was not a very restful one, plagued by nightmares as his always where. Shadows playing across his mind and dark images plagued him. He had long learned to force himself to keep sleeping during this, or he would have never gotten any sleep. Next to his bed, The Blade of Night's Shadow glowed with an eerie shadow, feeding on the mental turmoil of its owner.

Loraine awoke to someone being a disturbance by opening her door, letting the light pour in. She couldn't tell who it was, or the gender. Her eyes blinked to the on coming light and she stared, it was her mother. "Mother.." She said her voice not yet awake.
"Loraine, dearest.. I have a few things to discuss..." She seemed a bit distant.
Loraine nodded, "What time is it?"
"About quarter past Elvena (Eleven.)" Her mother smiled slightly, "You must have been exhausted."
Loraine smiled and nodded, "Yeah, I went searching for herbs." She told a half lie...
"I see well maybe we'll continue this conversation later when you're fully awoke." She rose and began to exit, leaving the door open.
Loraine swallowed a bit worried about the conversation to come. She sighed and swung her legs over the bed and rose to stretch. After brushing her hair, teeth, she began to dress. Her outfit consisted of a long red dress that flowed to her knees. Her hair was put up into a small lady-like bun. When she was finished she looked down upon herself and laughed. "I'm acting like I'm going to the sunball." She smiled, then slipped on white heels.

Kain awoke in the same manner he did every night. Someone came to force him up, since he had to force himself to sleep past the nightmares he would have continued to sleep until time ended if someone didn't waken him. "Time to get up sire" a voice called, raising him from his sleep. "How can you tell in this eternal night when the waking time is" Kain answered bitterly, he was not a morning person. "My lord is in a bad mood is he. Don't worry Kain, I here your parents have had a big breakfast waiting for you". When the person shifted from formal to informal Kain recognized there voice and rose. "Drek, I didn't get a chance to talk to you before I went to sleep" he said, getting up and walking over to his childhood friend, now turned servant. "You don't need to get up for your servant My Lord." Drek replied with a smile. "Perhaps, but one should always greet there friends properly" Kain laughed. Drek always cheered him up, reminding him of much younger days. The two friends talked for about a half hour before Drek had to cut them off. "Your parents, the lord and lady, want you down for breakfast soon" he said, getting up from the bed which they had both been sitting on, "I'll go down and tell them that your on the way." he finished. "Thanks Drek, I'll talk to you later" Kain said as his friend left the room and he returned to his normal state again, sighing and then getting up and going to his normal morning routine and finishing up by strapping his sword to his side. He looking into his bathroom mirror and sighed again, "I hope this doesn't take too long, I have other things to do" he mumbled, and then went down for breakfast.

She rushed down to the table for breakfast and nearly choked on the food, trying to hurry. She didn't even seem to notice her parents worried glances to each other. It was only when her father made a noise by clearing his throat did she look up. Her bright blue eyes went fearful quickly.
Her mother gave a warm smile and this caused Loraine to flush. She nodded and folded her hands across her lap waiting for the discussion to begin.
"Loraine." Her father spoke in a male soft voice.
"Y-yes?" Loraine said a bit frightened.
"I know what..happened yesterday." He went on his eyes narrowing slightly.
"You..you do..?" She gulped.
"How could you disgrace your family name, and worst of all you put yourself in danger!" He seemed to glow red with irritation.
"Yes but-"
"No No buts! Loraine you are not allowed to enter the forest of Twilight again, from this day forward you are banned from that forest, do you hear me?" He looked absolutely burning with rage.
"But-"
"Loraine!"
"Yes..father." Loraine's heart seemed to grow in pain. She pushed away her food, and murmured, "May I be excused..? I'm not..hungry."
"Yes..dear." Her mother said looking away.
With that Loraine jumped to her feet and ran all the way upstairs, slamming the door and bursting into a large amount of tears.

Kain entered the dinning hall and went to the table, taking his set place at the large table with his father and mother. He did not speak or start to eat, just waited silently for them to start.
"Your wandering around to much. It isn't fitting for one who will inherit my post to wander around like a common person. You go off and get hurt, and then return, heal, and run off again, its unbecoming." His father started, ignoring formalities.
"What your father means, is that we are worried about you, and as long as you run around wildly, we wont be able to make sure your safe, so you wont be allowed to leave without an escort" His mother chimed in.
"If that is your decision, I suppose there is nothing I can do about it." Kain said, suppressing all emotion from his tone and face. "Is that all then?" he asked.
"Yes. If you want to leave, you must first come to us and then we will assign someone to accompany you, understand?" his father asked.
"Yes sir. May I be excused then?"
Kain's father nodded and Kain went to his room. Once the door was closed he drew his sword, and stabbed it deep into one of the walls angrily, and then punched the wall next to it, leaving a dent in the stone. He refused to show his emotion to his parents, but he was enraged. He would not be a prisoner in his own home and he did not need a baby sitter. He would find a way past his parents needless restraints, and go to the forest alone. He promised he would be there, and he would keep his word.

After Loraine calmed down from her struggle of tears, she looked up at the ceiling still a bit angry. Her hands clenched tensely. Then malice filled ideas played into her head, she could easily take out the guards. Yet she shook that away knowing how ignorant that would be and how..evil. She then began to wonder why her actions had been impurely as of late. Her eyes were white and she went agape, it was yesterday..
She glared at the walls surrounding her. Then another idea went into play..
she would visit her friend Alice..
She gathered herself off the bed, brushing her tangled hair again, and ran out the door of her room. Running frantically down the stairs she zoomed past her parents throne room and ran outside the castle gates ignoring the cries of the guards. She ran far in the city and found a small little cottage that was Alice's.
She knocked her the wooden yet..brightly colored door. She had to wait a moment as it sounded like she had just woken the soul. "Alice." She whispered to the door and she replied sleepy, "Yes?" Then after noticing who it was, she immediately opened the the locks and flung open the door. "Loraine!" She cried out and embraced her friend.
~
After discussing the story of yesterday and of today Alice's eyes were wide and curious. "Hmm I see. How..interesting. Yet you do know that this is a danger to you, right?" She said her forehead wrinkling in heighten worry.
"Yes." Loraine replied simply, and placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "I need a cover and quick, Alice come on I really wish to see him again." Sparkling hope dazzled in Loraine's eyes.
Alice seemed to think a moment, "Well..I could give you the swap spell..but I would have to swap places with you. And I'm sure you don't want that."
"No! No that's perfect!" Loraine attacked her friend into yet another hug. "You can pretend to be me here at the castle!" She smiled happily. "Do it Alice! Do it!" Alice laughed but then bit her lip her dazzling blue hair going into her face, "Well the only thing is he won't recognize you."
Loraine shook her head, "I'll take the staff. You just stay up in my room and don't leave until I return." Alice nodded, "But if your mother were to come up, or your father..."
Loraine shook her head, "Just have casual conversation. You can fill me in on the details when I get back."
"Oh..fine, just as long as you do the same." Alice laughed once more. "One thing though..." Alice looked up. "Hmm?"
"Can I borrow something else to wear?" Alice laughed again, "Sure."
"You get the spell ready..I'll go find something else for uh.. me in your form to wear." She smiled and walked off into the near bed room.
Alice sighed softly.

Kain would go, and his parents would not stop him. He drew his blade out from the wall and allowed a shadow to drip from it. The shadow quickly took his form and he ordered it into his bed. He drew the curtains around his bed so that only his outline, or that of the shadows, could be seen if someone was to enter the room. Then he used a spell to grant the shadow his speech. He had been taking spellcasting lesions and they where paying off, a trick like this was possible because his parents had given him so many resources, those fools. He locked the bedroom door, and instructed the shadow to give only the most basic responses should someone call in to him, and to be cross in manner. His parents would be expecting him to stay up in his room for a while after the infuriating news, so he wasn't to worried about that. All that was left now would be to get out of the castle. His parents would have increased the normal magical wards on the castle and guards to be sure he didn't sneak out, but he would find a way. He opened his bedroom window and left threw it onto the roof, and began the tactful proses of making his way past the guards and out of the aria of the castle.

Loraine came out holding an article of clothing and Alice ran to her bedroom to put it on. She waited a few minutes until her young friend returned. Wearing the beautiful outfit..
Loraine smiled at the lovely figure and nodded approvingly. "Is it ready?" She asked excited.
"Yes but I will tell you it might have some problems.." Alice looked worried.
"I don't care, lets just do this!" Loraine cheered. "Remember to go to the castle and straight to my room!" Alice nodded and then grabbed the huge glass mirror that was sitting against the back wall.
Loraine waited.
Alice brought it up to Loraine's figure and seeing that the other side of the mirror was also a mirror they both looked into it.
Alice murmured something ontological and a bright glow came from the crystal. "Touch the crystal." Alice said softly and Loraine did as Alice did and their bodies stayed but a bright transparent form of themselves emerged from the shells of their bodies. "Keep walking." Alice said her voice dancing like an echo across the room. Loraine did and found herself walking through the mirror and into Alice's body. Alice did the same and was now in Loraine's. Then they found the force of it all and were both thrown backwards into pillows of a couch or against a hard chair. Loraine hit the chair.
Both girls found balance and stood, Loraine looked at Alice's perfectly formed hands and smiled. "Thank You Alice." She smiled softly.
Alice (Loraine) nodded.
"I must go." Loraine stood and headed for the staff but as she tried to touch it, a spark of light hit the girl and Loraine flinched. "I..I cannot touch it." Loraine gasped sharply.
"It must be because you are not yourself. It doesn't recognize you." Alice informed bored.
"You're right but what do I use of a shield or a weapon encase something should happen?" Alice nodded to the silver sun on Loraine's neck. "It'll protect you for an amount of time. Now go." Alice said now nodding to the door and Loraine ran off toward the forest of Twilight.

Kain sensed someone enter the aira. To his sense, it seemed like the girl from earlier. He stood up and spun on his heel to face her, but did not see the girl he was expecting. Instead, it was a different girl from Esire, and he was very confused. The way she walked and held herself was the same, as was the look in her eyes, but the body, the smell, her appearence was not the same, was it the same person or a different one. Being from a land of darkness and night, Kain never relied to much on his eyesight to see, but he still could not be certain. This was something he could do. The time he spent in the forest of twilight had given him something to compare the night with. "It varies depending on the seasons allot." he started, after a few moments of thinking, "But mostly it is dark and cold. The light provided by the stars is little, and the light of the moon is often faded as it waxes and wanes. Darkness and shadows are all around, and one can not rely on there eyes very much. Night also brings fear, of the creatures living in the darkness. The night has made my people hard and cold, always in a state of guard so as not to be taken in a moment of weakness. But it is not without its beauty aswell. When the moon is full and the sky is clear, the night is bright and warm, and the stars sparkle in the sky above. A pleasant breeze coils around the land and it is peaceful. Those warm nights are brief though, and few and far between, but welcomed and cherished none the less, at least by those who are not too cold to feel feel its warmth"

His feelings where bobbling up like they never did before, and he couldn't suppress them.. or was it.. that he didn't want to suppress them. He found himself on his feet suddenly, slowly moving towards her. "I don't want this to be the last time we interact.. and I don't want it to be over yet." he found himself saying. Kain froze and looked away for a moment. "I..." he started unsure what to say. "... I don't know..." he tried to squeeze the explanation out of him, "Thats just the way I feel.." he finished, confusion running threw him more then the explanation seemed enlighten. He was just letting his body run no automatic at this point, his mind was totally overwhelmed, and all he could do is just go with it.

She sighed and let that wall that she always had up in front of him down a tiny bit. "Good because now I know I'm not the only one thats confused." Her heart lurked at that. Her mind was blank and she felt extremely dizzy, but it wasn't the sicking dizzy, it was a good dizzy. "I would like to get to know..you more." She eyed him innocently. "I'm sure you'd rather me be in my normal body though?" She asked him and stared at him, warm colors creeping over her usual cold eyes. How it was possible for warmth to even be in a cold color....

"Its you, thats what really matters" Kain said, moving a little closer to her. "Its true.. He felt another swell of emotion and accepted it, not wanting to withhold anything from her. "And I.. I would like to know you more aswell". He felt himself become flustered a bit, his pale cheeks glow a faint redness and his empty black pools spinning with his inner turmoil

"Do you have any question before..we part?" She eyed him, and noticed the flush, her body shivered slightly and her heart jumped into her throat. She couldn't speak another word just stare adored.

"Will we.. be able to see each other again?" he asked, her comment from before echoing in his mind. He didn't want this to be the last time they met, or spoke. This strange feeling that tingled all over his body, he release of his restraint, it only happened when he was around her. And there was more.. things he couldn't even begin to describe. He didn't want it to end, and he wouldn't let it.

"I-" She watched his expression hopeful and this made her harden inside, wanting to see him again. "yes. I'll make sure of it. Even if I have to go and get you myself." She grinned then, her cheeks pink. "I..promise." She whispered her breath hot. "I never break a promise." Her eyes lowered to the ground and she lost her footing and almost fell catching herself against the tree. "I'm so so sorry about how I acted yesterday." She then stumbled forward almost tripping again. She walked up to him as careful as she could and watched his dark eyes carefully trying to tell him she was sorry, but the words just seemed caught.

Kain closed his eyes for a bit longer then a standard blink, when he opened them, they where filled with understanding. "My people must make you very angry. Yesterday, you attacked what you thought to be the denizens of the darkness, in order to avenge the pain that they caused to your people. You are a very devoted ruler. You don't need to apologize for that. Besides, if you had not done what you did then we might not have ended up the way we are now. Never the less, I accept your apology, don't feel bad about it" he said, smiling warmly at her. It felt strange, the warmth in his expression, the smile on his face, it was strange to him, but it felt natural at the time.

The dark scared the heck out of me. I thought I was going to surely die." She muttered her words and looked down. "I want to meet here..tomorrow. I might have better questions. Yet I do have one now if you have the time?" She smiled softly back at his smile which was lovely on his face, she wish'd she could see it more.

The body was not hers, but her eyes still reflected her soul, and the small actions still reflected her movements, and the smile, was still hers, and it just filled him.

Her face was pink and she had the biggest grin on her face, everyone was quite alert when seeing Alice's body run to the castle gates, wondering what had taken place.
As usual she met with the guards and asked to go see Loraine. They let her pass and she ran up to her room..

Kain sighed lightly and laid back on the grass of the forest floor. He had no desire to run home now, and would allow himself to enjoy the events that just passed before hardening himself again. Here in the forest of twilight, he could walk the boundary and allow himself to be something other then what he normally was, away from the crushing chains of darkness. His blade felt lighter in the half light, and he felt happy as he laid there, watching time float by.

Loraine ran up the steps and she opened the door with a hard push. "Alice!" She smiled at the scene her friend laid upon her bed pretending to be asleep. Alice's eyes fluttered open at her voice.
"Loraine you made it!"
"Yes it was..so.." She couldn't put a finger on the word. "So fantastic and wonderful." Her eyes held life and happiness. "I enjoyed his company more than I thought I would. Yet tomorrow I'll have to go in my normal form, is it alright if we swap back now?" She asked a little uneasy.
Alice nodded and looked at the clock, "Its about up anyway, I give it 3 minutes." While waiting for time to pass, Loraine discussed the events of the afternoon, while Alice listened a wise expression plastered on her face as she was thinking really hard.
Loraine rose an eyebrow, "What's up?"
"Nothing, just been a long afternoon." She shrugged and glanced at the clock. "30 seconds." She noted.
Loraine and Alice were quiet for the rest of those seconds, waiting. It was then a bright flash erupted from both girls and switched through the air and back into both normal bodies. Loraine hit the pillow this time, while Alice hit the back of the bed.
"Ouch!" Alice said rubbing her head. "Great now I feel dizzy." She shook it off.
Loraine sighed and looked out the window, "How do I get passed my parent's tomorrow?"
"Invisibility?" Alice perked.
"I suppsoe..I should've collected the herbs for the potion today, darn it." She sighed.
"I've got them."
"Oh of course." Loraine said sarcastically.
Alice just smiled and nodded to the doorway, "I better be off. I'm tired."
She seemed in a hurry.
Loraine nodded goodbye to her friend, "Night Alice."
"Night Loraine." She gave a little curtsy and was out the door in a flash, leaving Loraine thinking something was wrong.

After a while, Kain sat up and brushed the leaves from his back. He reluctantly started back home, sneaking back in the same way he came out and then dispelled his shadow doppelganger which he had left as cover. He would need to make another one tomorrow, but for now he just wanted to be left alone to his thoughts, that was, until he noticed he was not alone in his room.
"Its about time you came back, Kain"
He turned towards the noise. It was Drek, sitting on the corner of his room, waiting for him. "Drek.. I can-"
Drek interrupted. "You don't need to explain yourself to your servant, but your friend wants to know where you were and what you were doing"
"Well, as your lord, I order you to never mention what has happened here, even to my parents." Kain started coldly, then soften a bit. "But as your long time friend, I suppose I should tell you about some of it" he finished, sitting down on the bed and sighing a little. Drek had been his long time friend, from when they where both very young, even though he was from nobility and Drek was of the lower class. When it was time for him to chose a servant, he could not think of anyone he would want as a companion more, but there relationship had declined from there as he slowly hardened over the years. Drek could feel his friend had softened again, and wanted to know what had happened to cause this sudden change. Kain started to retell the events of the other day, and of earlier. Drek sat on the floor and listened intently to his friends tale, smiling a little. He was not skilled in magic as his friend was, nor as skilled with a blade, but he knew allot for his years, and from what he had heard from stories, his childhood friend had grown allot in the last two day.

Loraine sighed and kicked back off the outfit she had chosen, and got into a nice house outfit. She headed downstairs only to interrupt a meeting. Loraine blushed and snuck away trying to be not noticed. Her father caught her shadow and smiled a little, while her mother was to busy discussing war problems and food supplies.
Loraine headed into the drawing room, which was like a living room, but not it was intended for library use. She went into the forbidden section searching up something. When she skimmed the books she noticed a small paper which had been old and torn. She slid it out and gasped slightly at what she saw. She folded it and placed it in her stocking and quickly grabbed the book of Drain, then she ran upstairs into her room locking the door.

When Kain finished retelling what it was he felt like retelling to his friend, Drek got up and patted him on the back. "Kain my friend, your growing up" he said nostalgically and then laughed a little. Kain didn't really understand what his friend meant by this, but he had given up on trying to understand him a long time ago. "Well, at least on of us seems to understand things" Kain responded with a slight chuckle. "Well, I've had a rough time, I think I would like to be left alone to my thoughts" he finished. "I understand. But your parents want you to get some training in later" Drek said, heading for the door. "Later." Kain assured him, laying back in his bead. "Oh, and of course, what we have spoken about here is not to be repeated, even in secret". Drek nodded and slipped out, and Kain laid down and let his thoughts spin out of control.

Her head ached and she remembered why, her finger slid through her brown delicate strands she winced in pain as she found the wound, the bruise. "At least I didn't bleed much." She muttered softly with a smile. Her attention rose to the dark figure standing against the bed, she realized it was a shadow, she grew anxious and then laughed at herself for being so foolish, it would be a deadly mistake if he were to come here. It was strange, she was safe and he wouldn't be..same with his home. She would never get to meet his parents..and he would never get to meet hers. At the same time, the outline of the shadow in Loraine's room began to grow and become more solid. Slowly, The Sword of Night's Shadow transported Kain across the border, threw the connection of the shadows, into the land of light, responding to the subconscious call Kain had been making to be with Loraine again soon.

When Kain finally fully emerged from the shadow, he looked around a little confused. The sword had done this once before when he was little, when it transported him into the carnival outside of city when he was a kid after his parents had told him he was never to go there. Sometimes, it seemed to have a mind of its own. When he finally realized where he was, which happened when he realized that Loraine was sitting a few feet away from him, the confusion only increased. She stood and walked over to him poking his arm to make sure he was who he was. She glared at him confused.

In answer, Kain held out his sword. While it was sheathed, The Blade of Night's Shadow hardly seemed like a demon sword at all. But the sword was alive, and made from some of the darkest darkness. "My sword has a mind of its own sometimes. It must have felt my desire to see you again, and decided to transport me here. Kain's face remained inscrutable for a moment. It was all very interesting and disturbing information, but only raised questions. How could The Sword of Night's Shadow, also known as Dusk Bane, be connected to her staff, they seemed to be opposites in every way, although admittedly he knew little about her weapon, or the origin of his, which brought up the questions of how they where created, and whatever story was behind that. But a more bombastic question was about the two kingdoms. If they really where once one, then why, when, and how were they separated. It was very interesting news indeed, but only made things more confusing. Kain pondered this silently, keeping his questions to himself for a moment, and the recalled the position he was presently in. "Thats... a rather.. interesting bit of information" he said, after a long moment of silence, "Although it seems to mainly bring up a lot of questions" he continued, still pondering. It was hard information to take in, and he had to turn it over in his mind repeatedly before accepting it and moving on the the questions they raised.

He only seemed to glare in annoyance. She waited for him to speak, the air in the more tense.

His voice seemed thick and acted as if it were to cover something, "I'm fine, Loraine, you needn't not worry." He whispered into her ear and stroked the brown strands. After a few minutes of nothing but silence he set her free. "We need to talk about..him." His voice turned cold as he nodded in the dirrection of the forest. Loraine tried to hold a steady face, and nodded once.
"What..were you thinking!? Are you trying to die?" He turned angry. Like father he had a very maddening temper. His strong hands grabbed her shoulders and shook her, "Are you?" He repeated.

There was a few moments of darkness, and an intense pressure, almost a crushing feeling, like being at the bottom of the ocean. The feeling only lasted a few moments thought, and soon, the pressure was relieved as they returned into a physical state again, emerging from the shadow of a very large tree in the forest of twilight.

Loraine gasped softly when they arrived under the tree, she was afraid to let go of him. "Don't leave me, please don't leave me." She whispered to him, her voice choked with hysteria. Fresh tears beamed down her cheeks her knuckles turning white from holding the staff to hard. A breeze ruffled her hair leaving the scent of tears in the air.

Now she was quiet thinking her actions over, she slowly gathered her strength, her eyes transfixed on the figure she held onto. "I think I .." She breathed, "This sounds stupid but I think I'm slowly starting to love you." She blushed softly at her own words, her body holding hardly a tremble. Her skin grew its color back and the panic attack was over.

((Congratulations ^^ ))

'Love'? Kain repeated in his head. Drainians did not put much stock in emotions like love, and was not something on principal Kain was brought up to consider, or understand. Yet here he was, sharing a feeling he did not understand with a woman he did not understand how he felt about, it was all very confusing to him. But while his mind was in turmoil, his heart was aflutter. It understood deep down about what she was saying, and what it meant she felt, and that it felt the same way, and while his mind was struggling to understand, his heart took over his actions. "I.. I think I feel the same way" he found himself saying, "..Although.. I find it difficult to understand"

Her face grew hot and pained, "Do you not know what love..is?" She watched him, her thoughts all jumbled. How is that a possibility? Its not..every being knows what love is..they have to or how do they live? She blinked slightly guessing it would be possible..but it would leave the one unknown to such a beautiful emotion, a cold and empty shell and it was obvious something he was not..or was he? "Love..is.." She found herself pondering just in fact what love was. "Love is.." She repeated, and a burst of life hit her. She slowly rose her chin, her gaze up to his eyes, they were burning, and one would wonder how such a word could describe something such as fire in cool color? Yet this wasn't hate..it was something else.. something passed the portray of emotion.

(Thanks its a boy. ^-^)

Kain slowly closed his eyes while he contemplated. "I have been raised only for the sake of best serving my land. Things like the warm emotions that the Esireites value so much where deemed unuseful in the fulfillments of my duties and was left out of my upbringing." he started, then posed for a moment. He slowly raised his left index finger and pointed towards his heart. "But I understand... I know what 'Love' is in here. Those feelings are still a dormant part of me.. I simply do not comprehend them with my mind. But it seems, another part of me does understand them.. and I think that is what I have been listening to for all this time." he tried to explain. It was hard, considering he did not understand it fully himself, but it was the clearest he could make it.

Loraine studied his movements, his expressions, and took them all into careful consideration. She then did something both of them probably wouldn't suspect and reached up on her toes and lightly kissed his lips. Then she pulled back a bit dizzy from her own action. She turned away quickly embarrassed, not even really sure what came over her to possess such an action. Her eyes were wide, her cheeks were as pink as a rose. She pursed her lips trying to think of an excuse.

But he didn't finish with a word, he finished with an action. He leaned in and returned her kiss with one of his own, closing his eyes and kissing her on the lips briefly. Her eyes were wide and open, her lips soft and lush. She smiled softly and then reached up once more and kissed his a little longer, her hands reaching for his hands, when she found them she stopped kissing him and squeezed them in a comforting embrace of their own. Loraine began her long journey to the cold caves, but she didn't care, she just needed to be alone, even if it wasn't what she truly wanted. Want and need are two different things.. She thought to herself and glanced around to make sure no royal guard was on the lookout. She glanced upward at the Twilight sky, her heart about stopping in her chest as the call of a bird was so loud it left a ringing sound in her ears. She winced slightly, her breathing heavy and lost. "A guardian?" The cloaked woman asked, "Yes" Kain answered her, handing her a sack of gold coins, "I need it to operate independently, and be unseen to the protectee." he repeated, to make sure he got the proper spell. "That is some complicated magic, trying to protect someone without there knowledge?" the woman asked. "She will most likely sense the magic in the aria, but I told her I would supply her with some additional magical defenses, I just don't want it's appearance to disconcert her."
"I understand. So that will be the guardian spell and the concealment spell, anything else?"
"No, that will be quite enough. Thank you Enlisa"
"You don't need to thank me young prince, your gold coins do that."
"And as usual, you cant mention to anyone I came here"
"Right, you are supposed to be confined to your room without an escort aren't you. Don't worry, client confidentiality is my specialty" She assured him, handing him the scrolls.
Enlisa was a witch, a master of dark magic, who was not above sharing her secrets for a price, and an old friend of the royal family. Kain knew he could always go to her if he needed a spell that he was unable to cast himself, still being a rather novice spellcaster himself. Kain took the scrolls from her and departed her shop, pulling his cloaks hood back up over his face so he would not be recognized as he made his way back to the hall of shadows where he would transport himself back into his room. Getting out was one thing, but the enchantments around the castle made it very hard to transport himself back into his room. He knew the sword would need the ancient powers of the hall to amplify its power to pass threw the defenses. He only hoped he had not been discovered while he was gone.

Loraine climbed up the rocks, her dress ripping in the process. Her fingers felt for the rocks, while her feet maintained the balance. The rough, chilling breeze from being high up, seemed to rattle her bones. As she made it to the mouth of the cave, she laid on the stone, catching her breath. The staff seemed to pulsate for her as a flashlight and she shined it on the darkness inside. As she saw nothing was living in it, she laid against the hard rock, and hugged her knees, her teeth seemed to chatter with a noise that would annoy anyone. She brought the staff closer and tried to pour the warmth from it for her body. She closed her eyes and drifted off into a restless sleep.

Kain emerged from the shadows back into his room. The castle seemed peaceful enough, so it was most likely that they did not notice he was gone. He quickly pulled out a small black mirror from the bag he had gotten, and touched his pinky to the mirror's face. He had left a part of his shadow inside of Loraine's so that he could use this to locate her. The mirror shone with a dark light and separated to show the image of her sitting in the cave. She seemed so full of sorrow and pain, he just had to find someplace better for her to rest and stay, but since she could not pass the boundary into his land without slowly loosing her power and strength, he couldn't even attempt it. He would search for a spell to help sustain her in the land with no sun, but in the mean time, these two would keep her safe. He placed the mirror down and pulled out the first scroll, the one that contained the spell of concealment and place it on the mirror's face as he began the preparations to cast it

Loraine eyes opened quickly when she felt a sense of magic aura. Her eyes had to adjust to the very dark cave. Then the words of before hit her and she curled back into her ball. She hugged the staff as if it were a comforting toy. Her long dark hair slung over her face, and she pressed her cheek against the hard ground.

Meanwhile at the Akira castle..

Xian paced the halls, "Where could she have gone! This is all my fault!" He growled with anger, his mother was trying to pursude him to calm down.
"Send the guards to the castle of Drain, have them search for any sign of Loraine!" King Light called down. Her mother's eyes were full of fear, "Go..my son, find our only hope." She whispered.

A group of solders passed the Twilight gates of the forest and entered the dark territory a stinging sensation ate at their chests.
Xian growled and took the secret passageway he had discovered once while scouting out the area. They arrived at the castle in less then 20 minutes.

Kain casted the first spell and a dull blue aura wrapped around the proximity of the cave for a moment. The spell would prevent anyone from using magic to locate Loraine and would keep the cave warmer aswell. Two birds with one stone, that was what Kain intended to do with these spells. He pulled the second scroll out when he was interrupted by a knock on the door. He quickly drew the curtain around his bed to conceal the magic he was working and then tuned to the door. "Who is there" he inquired.
A frantic voice responded. "Its me Lord" Drek called frantically threw the door. Kain recognized the voice and could tell something was wrong.
"Whats the matter?" he asked, not opening the door.
"My lord, we have detected solders from Esire approaching the castle." Drek answered.
"I see. Very well, deploy the guard but order no attack yet. I will be down shortly for negotiations before the battle start. He don't want my parents being swept into combat, so we must make sure that if we do fight it is not at our doorstep" Kain instructed, as he quickly donned the Dustcloak, a magical cloth that would act better then any armer would.
"Aye Lord Kain" Drek answered and ran off to deliver Kain's orders.
Kain sighed, having a good idea why this happened. He did not feel like spilling blood tonight but saw little choice. Soon, the castle guard, the elite warriors of Drain where standing in the way of the solders from Esire, with Kain as there general. They made perimeter between the invading solders and the castle, but did not make any other moves, only waited to see what there enemies would do.

Loraine shifted in her sleep and let out a groan at the hard rock. She sighed and tried to think of something else to maybe put her into a better mood for sleeping.

Xian glared at their army and stepped forward calling out, "I demand a search of the castle and its boundaries. My sister is missing. Lady Loraine." He said holding up a bright shining sword, "Let me explore or there will be blood in your hands, Lord Kain." His unbelievably dark eyes scanned his surroundings while focusing back to Kain and stepping backwards into the band of solders. "Unless you would like me to explain what has been going on with Lady Loraine and you, I'm sure she'd be pleased for your land to know of the problem." His eyes mocked his enemy and stood his ground.

Kain froze for a moment, keeping a composed face. To his solders, it seemed he was just thinking, but really he was in shock. Did Loraine tell her brother? If not, did he really know, or was he making things up? He decided it better to ignore the statement. "She is not here, I promise you that. However, if you insist on a search I suppose we can oblige that, if you will make it worth our while. For all we know, this could be some sort of excuse to scope out the enemy stronghold, and so we can not allow it lightly, even though your accusations are false. If you are to inspect the castle and surrounding aria, it will be a guarded search, three of our men to every one of yours that enters the aria, that way if you plan on attacking, it will most assuredly fail. Also, as I said before, you must compensate for the fact that we are allowing our enemy to search our stronghold. If you agree to these terms then you are welcome to search, although as I already said, she is not here and you are waisting your time with a search." Kain answered monotonally in his usual manner. As he did, the mirror and magical ingredients and spells that he had left lying on his bed slowly where swallowed up by the shadows around them, to make sure that they would not be found.

He didn't know much about Loraine's family, they had only just met, but there was something different about the two siblings. Kain himself had lost his older sister to disease when he was young and raised an only child, so he did not know much about siblings from first hand experience, but there was still something off about Loraine's brother. He smirked darkly and scowled turning a corner as if he knew the place. His black hair flowed longly down his back, placed in two ponytails. Yet the bangs of his hair was blond, a two toned color. His eyes were ruby red, and scowls seemed to be his favorite stare. One of his arms were an iron gantlet with sharp claws for fingers. Noted at his side was his weapon: Crimson Scourge, a sharp tipped samurai blade. Kindness wasn't his thing, that was for sure.

His red eyes grew even more tainted as the search came to nothing upon nothing. He turned to Kain and grabbed the prince by his shirt collar. "Where in the Esire, is she? I know you know, and you better tell me. You have no right what-so-ever to have any connections with my sister! She is not your blood, she is not your lover! She is mine! As is the staff! Now you little worm, tell me where she is or I'll tell them all, and they'll kill her..and my people won't stand and give a damn about it, because of the happenings between the two of you. Kain realized he could easily answer this question two ways, but denial would be useless at this point. "She does not wish to go home. She left on her own accord, and is where she is now not by my power or will, but her own. And so, if you are to discover her wear abouts, it will also not be by my power or will that you find her and force her to return. She would rather suffer a million discomforts and pains then return, you should leave her to be as she wishes" he answered, still keeping his tone clear of emotion, but narrowing his eyes just a little, to mask the pain he felt at the memory of her current discomfort. Then his detective like ears picked something up. "She is not your's and neither is the staff. And you can not execute her if you can not locate her. So I stand firm in saying that I shall have no hand in her execution, or her imprisonment back inside those stone halls that cause her so much pain." he said, raising his voice just a drop, but still keeping his face blank of emotions.

No matter what the consequences, it was not his place to return her to her home, unless she requested it personally. He could have easily killed the enemy prince right here, but that would have only caused the war to spike greatly and wouldn't accomplish anything at all. Alice felt a deep chill surround her body, she stood there shaken.

A small ball of black light danced form his fingertips and into the mirror's face, The spell was cast, but the magical aura from the spell was hidden by the first spell of concealment. Now she would be safe. He packed the rest of the magical supplies in the bag and put them in a dresser, which he had designated for his magical supplies for his studies. Then he turned back to the mirror. The spell he had placed for her would prevent even his blade from teliporting him to her, but he had a much older and more powerful way to get him to her. He placed the mirror on the ground and stepped into it. Space twisting in on itself until with a flash, he appeared as close as he could to Loraine, a single spot he had left open for only a very specific magic to penetrate. Only the twin mirror's of shadow would be able to teliport in and out of this spell and that is why he brought her the second one. She seemed a little traumatized and weak. The staff still laid on the ground a light glimmer coming from its eye. "I'm sorry I'm such a burden! I'm sorry." she said rushed and her voice cracking, as if tears were about to be spilled once again. She took in his scent, she took in his comfort and just stood there, unable to move. "Take me..somewhere we're the war can be ended..where we can be together.." She closed her eyes, a deep pink brushing upon her features.

"I am sorry that you have felt so much pain." Kain said, holding her close to him to comfort her and shield her from the cave itself. "I have been working on a solution for a way to help you cross into my land, but until that is solved I have brought a way for us to be together always, or as close to it as we can get." he said, then, keeping one hand tightly wrapped around her, he reached the other one out, and a black tendril came from his shadow and put a small silver mirror in his hand. "A gift. This mirror is one of a set. The two mirror's faces reflect what reflects in the other one, and I have the other one, which I will always keep in my shadow. I have placed an enchantment on the mirrors so that you can, by walking onto one, be transported between the two, and so I will always be able to watch over you, and no matter where you are we will be able to reach each other" he explained, setting the second mirror down next to where they stood. He thought for a moment, this was only a temporary solution, and wouldn't be good enough. "I don't know how much longer the war will go on for. It seems neither side remembers why it has happened, but neither side is willing to make peace." he said slowly, running what he knew threw his mind for a moment, "However, if we where able to figure out how the two lands where separated and why, we might be able to unite them again, and then perhaps the war will end" he suggested, remembering what she told him earlier about the two lands. It was the only answer he could think of for her pain, but he didn't know where to start on it. Everything else didn't matter when he was with her like this. He rarely spoke, but found his tung loosen when he wanted to say things to her, and all the foolish things she was apologizing for matter so little. She was not a burden, but a blessing to him, and he would do whatever he had to in order to make her happy.

Loraine's sky blue eyes observed the mirror, her gaze transfixed. Her lips twisted into an oval and she stared at it, bewitched. The mirror started to shimmer with a bright light and great radiance. Loraine's eyes molded into a deep gold, like the sun itself. Her skin turned into a light tan, and her dress shimmered into that of a white goddess. The staff seemed to react to the new transformation, flying toward the new Loraine. A gasp came from the young girl's throat. She looked up at Kain, life burning in her sun-kissed eyes. "You look like him." She whispered, "Why?" The mirror seemed to move into her hands and in the reflection was a man, no a God, that looked just as Kain did, yet a bit of different features, like Loraine's. "My name is Esire." She granted him the knowledge of her name, "Tell me where he is?" She looked to the mirror, a puzzled expression plastered on the woman's face. "Where is my beloved?" The Akira staff seemed to shake with excitement as if trying to speak, as if it knew the answers the woman searched for.

((Then I guess I'll play around))

Kain looked puzzled for a moment, then decided to just go with it for now. Whatever happened to Loraine would probably be temporary, and it seemed like answering her now would be the best course. "That mirror shows what its twin is reflecting. Its twin is in my shadow currently, and is facing to reflect an image of myself.. or at least it should be." Kain said with a bit of a puzzled expression as he examined the image in the mirror. It looked similar to him, but it wasn't his reflection, that was sure of. He summoned the other mirror from his shadow so he could check it to be sure, not turning it from reflecting from upon him as he did.

Esire seemed to go cold and worried, her face traced with hints of fear. "Bring him forth! Bring the God of Darkness to me!" She grabbed Kain's shirt, fire burning in her hands, her skin, her veins. The woman seemed to be the lost soul of the kingdom of Esire, the Goddess of the Sun, the purity of light. She then freed him and stared into the shining mirror in her hands, "In thy's shadow he remains?" She whispered, a troubled expression still on her. "Is he in pain? Does he remember me, Esire?" She looked up hopeful, the sun glittered in her eyes.

Kain slowly looked from her to the mirror and he looked at it oddly. His mirror reflected her as she was, but her mirror was still reflecting the him that was not him. He thought for a moment, and then his sword pulsated, and began to shake around in its sheath. ".. I don't know.. but I believe I can bring him too you" he said, drawing his sword. "If he is connected to me threw my shadow.. then perhaps becoming one with my shadow will bring him out" he muttered, then hesitated for a moment, but realizing there was no answers without it, plunged his sword into his torso. He doubled over for a moment, as the black energy spun from the blade and seemed to pull his shadow into him. He grasped the blade tight as he felt another entity enter his body. His body becoming more pail, and lighter in some ways, but his hair turned jet black like the night sky and his eyes filled with the sparkle of the stars. His eyes fluttered open and he looked confused for a moment, then smiled a bit. "Well played my young friend" He mermered as the blade seemed to vanish from his side and the wound with it, not a trace of blood from it. He then looked up, the night sky in his eyes, filling with the image of the woman in front of him. "You always did ask the most foolish questions my love. Never once have I forgotten you" he answered, straightening out and smiling at her, a warm smile, filled with the warmth of a summer nights breeze.

Esire smiled at him, her heart swelling to no end. "I may ask the foolish of questions, but you arrive at the latest of times. The kingdoms are in war, did you know that?" She asked. Her brown hair fluttered around her as if an imaginary wind was making them move. "I've been stored in that mirror for so long, I thought the prophecy would never come true. Generation after generation, and yet not one of them had enough power to actually bring me forth." She stared down at the tanned hands and clenched them, her gaze traveled to him once more and she gave her hand to him and brought him to his legs to stand. "How long has it been since we've truly saw one another?" Her eyes glittered with the most purest and warmest light for the man in front of her. The staff interrupted the answers and plunged in front of them, a rattling sound came from its eye. Esire blinked at the action and looked at it puzzled, "Its trying to tell us something..I wonder what..?" Her voice was puzzled and mostly confused.

"I don't know. I've never been able to understand that thing, it is yours after all" Drain said, shaking his head a bit. The god of the land of night had been observing the actions of his host for a while, and watched the lands in war, waiting for the prophecy just as his love had been, and probably didn't know much more about it then she did, and even less about the actions of her weapon. "Although if I had to guess, I would assume it is trying to warn us about some incoming danger"

Esire nodded at his explanations and guesses. "That makes perfect sense, Drain." She looked to the staff and it seemed to shudder in fear. "I think its warning us, on that foul man Xian." She said guessing. "Yet your guess is as good as mine." She sighed and the cave grew warmer quickly. "This body is hard to control." She muttered lowly, "I'm not quite sure how long I can maintain it. If I die out make sure you explain to Loraine calmly who you are, or she just might do something you don't want to see." She told him. Then a light blush could be seen on her tanned skin, her fingers danced on his cheek and she gazed before the darkness in his eyes, the light sparkling in hers. "We will bring the kingdoms into one, my love." She said hoping to convince not just him, but herself as well. "I will promise you that." The staff seemed to calm down at Esire's actions, knowing the goddess in front of it, very well.

"Yes, my dearest, we will. It is our responsibility to do so I suppose" Drain said with a short nod. He could feel his body strain at his presence in it aswell, but the dark sword inside of him helped to stabilized his form, so he would be able to fulfill her request. He wondered if Kain would remember any of what was spoken here, or if Loraine would need to fill him in as he would fill her in, not that it really mattered. "But must out time be cut so short? We only just reunited.. will it be the same isolation once we leave these forms?" he sighed. With all of the duties he knew he still had to attend, the deities concern was still that of his love.

"Even in isolation, our weapons will be with one another, and thus we'll be with one another. Always and forever my love.." She whispered and brushed a stray lock of his midnight black hair away from his starry eyes. "I fear Loraine is wanting her body back, so farewell be forever safe." She said with a slight bow and reached up and held his cheek in the palm of her hand, a very deep look in her eyes and, the form started to slowly slide back into that of Loraine.

She blinked seeing Drain, her first move was to move away from him, and that she did. She grabbed the floating staff and moved it in front of her as a sign of protection, "Where's Kain?" she cried softly, obviously she was more emotional and sensitive than Esire. She clamped her jaw shut and it trembled as if the fear was too much to hold.

Drain smiled a little. Although her reaction was different, her question was the same. She reminded him so much of his Esire. "He is still here" he said, pointing to himself. His voice was deeper and older then Kain's and much more rough, not nearly as hollow either. "I am Drain, it is a pleasure to meet you Loraine. Right now, Kain has lent me his body so that I could surface for a time, but fret not, your Kain will be reunited with you very soon" he finished. He felt the bodies being pulled apart, him being held in Kain's body only by the sword of night's shadow. Soon he would leave as his love did, but until then he had a few more answers to give

"Drain?" She tried the name out on her tongue and found it very alien to say as a name, unlike it was for the kingdom. "Why are you here, Drain? Tell me are you the God of the Night?.." She asked her bright eyes popping slightly. His words seemed to calm an ache that went on inside her throat, but she was sure she'd never met the guy. Yet from somewhere inside herself she could hear someone singing for joy. "Esire.." She whispered lowly, the voice was of Esire herself. Loraine looked very confused, and dumbfounded. "What's exactly going on here?" She took the staff away from guard and watched as it excitedly pulsed with different colors, the darkness around it seemed to give it a radiance almost the like sun and the moon together.

Drain remind silent for a moment. She had asked a lot of questions in a short amount of time. He decided he would answer her in the order she asked them in. "Yes.. I suppose that is what I am." he answered cryptically, he had a habit of doing that. The night never gave up its secrets easily. "As for why I am here.. You could say that I am here because I am supposed to be here. Esire and I appeared after all this time from the prophecy, and she left before I did, leaving me to be the one explaining things as best I can before I go". Drain fell silent for a moment after this answer and thought how best to answer her next question, but a tugging at the back of his mind interrupted him. "I'm afraid I will have to cut answers short. This body will not last much longer with my form in possession in it, and if I stay much longer it could damage Kain's body" he sighed, waving so much to he had to say with such little time remaining.

If you seek to reunite the lands, you must remove what keeps them separated. For the two lands to be one again, the three must become one again, and you two must work together. But be warned, both the light and darkness hide great enemies. Good luck daughter of the sun. Good luck, Loraine" With that, he reached his hand into his lower torso, his hand phasing threw it, and pulled the black sword out, removing the tie that kept him inside Kain's body longer then he should have. With a faiding smile, Drain's shape slowly started to meld back into Kain, his hair changing back to its dark blue/dull gray, and his eyes emptying back into there dark pools, and his tone becoming more pail again. Slowly but surely, he changed back into Kain.

"Kain.." She pouted her upper lip at him, "That's not fair!" She crossed her arms, childishly. Her head turned away from him, "Fine." She stomped her foot, "I just don't like this idea." Her cheeks flushed pink for a moment and she was forced to look away completely. ><'

"Does the floor really look that much better? I know black isn't your color but its still rather comfortable" Kain said with a warm smile, then shifted expressions a bit to that of a curious interest. "But seriously, why does it seem you have a such a problem with it?" he asked her

"Oh its not that I like the way it looks. I don't know it would just feel strange..sleeping in your bed." She blushed once more and moved to the side by the wall, her fingers lancing at the hard stone. It was just like a med-evil room. She blinked and refused to turn to him, "I'm just strange, thats all." She paused a moment before continuing her explanation. "You'll get used to it." told the wall rather than him, her cheeks were still tickled pink. She laid her head against the cool stone, and sighed in comfort, it felt good... something this cold..she didn't mind it, like the cave. Her eyes looked to him, then a calm expression, "Do whatever you wish, my prince." She gave a little smirk and walked over to the bookshelf skimming at the books.

(She forgot that he doesn't like being called..prince.)

The book case was well organized, split into category of book by shelf, with magic books being at the bottom two shelves, then war books in the middle two, and the top was full of books on Drain's history. The books where all alphabetically ordered and neatly stacked on the shelf, with one exception. One book stuck out of place, on the second shelf down from the top. It was a small red book, that was slid on top of two others, a fictional book of old stories and fairy tales called 'Spinning the cloths of dusk', and the only one of its kind among the shelves, catching the eye by its bright red cover among the brown tomes surrounding it.

Kain flinched for a moment at being called 'prince' again but only a little out of expectation for the feeling he thought would come up when she said it.. but it didn't. For some reason it seemed different when she said it like that. He shook that aside and focused at the matter at hand. "I understand." he said, nodding a bit, "I wouldn't want to put you in an uncomfortable position... well then, would you like a futon or something to sleep on between you and the floor, or a blanket, or is that one pillow really going to be enough for you" he asked, not wanting to force her any more now that he understood why she was declining the bed. "I have some old things in the closet I could pull out for you to use, so its no trouble getting whatever you need"

(Theres a half story behind that, I guess it will reveal itself it time ^^)

"Thank you for your concern, I'll take the clothes, but the pillow the staff and me are just fine." She laughed a little. Her eyes wavering over the red book, her eyes stayed on it for only a minute until she pushed herself to look away. She turned to him and bowed slightly, "You sure are sweet." She noted. "Your the not the prince I thought you were. You worry impresses me deeply, Kain." she winked and sat down upon the floor for a moment, and closed her eyes. "Thank you for everything."

She couldn't help but realize she could get into deep trouble for this being, Oh Esire! She was actually sleeping in the Enemy price's room! If anyone was to find out, trouble would only be. She tried not to think of the bad things and tried to think of the good. She opened one eye at him peaking a little, and then she grinned to herself, her mind in a slaphappy state.
"How lucky I am to know you."

(Yes. I suppose it is!)

((was that last thing said in her mind or out loud?))

Kain blushed deeply and could only respond with a short, "welcome". After he muttered that he got up and went to his closet, and came back a bit later with a change of clothes for her. "Before you ask, they were my sister's, thats why I have them" he said, not looking directly at her, "That door over there is a bathroom for when you want to change, or if you need it." He set the spare cloths down next to where she was laying and went silent for a moment then spoke again, "Don't worry. I'll lock the door, and the only person who ever comes up here besides myself anyway is a very loyal servant. Even if you are seen, he wouldn't mention it to anyone." he said, having a feeling the thought of being discovered there might have been bothering her

(Out loud. ^_^)

Loraine looked down and up at the him and then the clothes, "You have a sister?" She asked, then went on to the loyal servant, "Ah..what's their name? Are you positive that they won't tell? I really can't risk it Kain." She hugged her knees, "It would be total chaos if anyone found out." She stared at the hard ground with an expression hard to read. "I would be killed." Her voice was dark, mysterious and proved the fact that she was afraid. "You would lose me." Her forehead leaned against her kneecap, "Drain would loose his only connection to Esire."
She continued on her list of things to happen if she'd ever be noticed.

"Had" Kain couldn't help but say to correct her about his sister, then moved on to the more important part. "Drek is a friend first and a servant second. Our friendship is as old as I can remember, and he would never tell anything without talking to me first at the least." Kain tried to assure her, then realized she needed a little more. He knelt down in front of her and gently placed his hand under her chin, lifting her eyes to meet his, and then brushed the hair from in front of her face. "I won't loose you.. I won't let you die... I swear to that" he said to her, a combination of stern and warm look in his eyes and face.

((I'm really sleepy, so I'm off to bed. Goodnight.))

Loraine met his perfect eyes, and felt like she was being pulled into him. She had to blink to loose the trance. "Yes, Kain." She responded not an emotion in her voice, her fingers brushed his lightly and she began to stand, her breathing skittish from the electric feeling she always got when he touched her. "I'll..go change now." She told him; sweeping up the clothes and heading toward the bathroom, "If you..don't mind?" she glanced back and felt her breathing become rigged again.

"Of course not, go right ahead" Kain answered. He gave a short sigh to try collect himself. She pulled out the emotions that he had buried for so long and made his stone casing melt away so easily. It was strange to express these feelings again, after being denied them for so long, but it wasn't an all together bad sensation. He leaned against the bed post and watched her leave to change

Loraine walked into the bath room, a sweet low hum tingling on her lips as she dressed. Her fingers felt the strong stone counter, her eyes peering up into the normal mirror, yet what was there was not what she thought it would be. She jumped back about 2 feet, and stared at what she was seeing. It wasn't herself, it was Esire and her expression was a bit of an angry goddess.
"Loraine Akira."
Loraine was only able to nod.
"You mustn't allow such emotions to pass of your brother, for he is not himself. He is a wanderer in his own body, his soul cannot be free."
"What..are you saying, Lady Esire?"
"There is an evil demon lurking within." Esire replied a sad expression tormenting the beauty's beautiful face.
"A..a demon?" Loraine clenched her teeth, as if this was the worst news of all. "Are you sure there isn't a way for my brother to be free?"
"No Loraine, it has been too long. Xian the man you knew is fading away, and soon the evil will grow stronger, stronger than anything you've ever faced."
Loraine could feel the cold, horrible feeling ache in her back, her throat, her every limb, organ and hair. "Thank you..lady Esire.."
With that Loraine stood there, her fingers yet again held onto the hard stone, her mind trying to contemplate of what she had just been told.
"Blessed be, lady Loraine."

Kain sighed heavily and laid back on his bed, waiting. The roof of his bed had been enchanted to look like the night sky, his one decoration in the room. He just felt better sleeping under the stars then a roof of stone. For a moment, he thought he heard the voice of Drain arrogantly laughing 'Do you like them, theres a story behind every one' but he shook off the phantom in his mind, playing it off as just a trick of thought, remembering his sister telling him something very similar.. one of his only memories of her.

Loraine sighed and washed her face under the cool running water of the sink and then brushed her hair quickly, but with a delicateness that proved she was a girl. She tried to walk out composed. "Thank you Kain, for letting me use these." She looked to his form and eyed the ceiling, she didn't really notice the stars before. Her eyes glittered in delight, her skin as wan as the moon. "Its beautiful!" She said looking up. "I've always wanted to see the stars." She said her troubles melting away, as her joy seemed to sweep them.

"I'm glad you like it so much" Kain said, sitting up and looking over at her. His sister's cloths fit her well and while she was wearing them she brought back a few short memories of her, and maybe that was why he was speaking about her. "My sister put it up, the spell that makes the ceiling look like that, as a present, a long time ago"

His way of speaking caught her attention, she sat down on the corner part of the bed and stared at him, "Kain.." She sounded very curious, "Will you please tell me about your sister? I'm very interested." She flashed a nervous smile toward his view and waited for the response.

Kain looked down in silence for a moment then back up at her. "I don't remember much.. she died when I was still very young." he started slowly, "But what I can tell I will tell you.". He blinked slowly, and took a deep breath before continuing. "My older sister's name was Serena, and she was a skilled spellcaster, aswell as a very kind person. She would have been a good ruler for this land, but royalty never really suited her, she was too nice to give anyone an order." As he spoke about what he remembered about his sister, his eyes started to shimmer like dark pools of water, tears forming deep inside them.

"She sounds beautiful." She whispered, "She sounds like the perfect sister." She lowered her head before him, her long silky brown hair falling into her face, "I'm sorry." She whispered slowly, "I'm sorry for you're loss." She took his hands, her's were shaking, "Don't cry; you'll only make it worse." She bit her lip in a struggle with herself to tell him about her brother.

Kain's eyes narrowed just a bit. "Maybe she only sounds perfect because I remember her that way. She died when I was still young and my memories may not be as complete as all that" he said, unsure his child's mind would have noticed any imperfections in his sister even if there were any. He wiped his eyes, pushing the tears away, he wouldn't cry in front of her. "It was an old loss, a dull pain. I wouldn't shed a tear for something from so long ago. You don't need to worry about me"

((sorry it took me so long to respond, I had some things I needed to take care of))

Loraine smiled softly, "I'm sure she was a wonderful person, I believe that Kain." She sighed maybe this would get his mind off of his sister for a second, even though it made her scared, "Kain. We need to talk..now." Her eyes narrowed very lowly and she looked down her fingers stressing with the cover. She then sighed and shook her head telling herself not to say it. "Uh..eh..never mind." She stood abruptly and walked to the bookcase once more. "I'm..just being..silly." She didn't sound like she was kidding at all, her voice was mysterious with a bit of fear.

(Its okay.)
