View Full Version : The Divide

Years ago, when I was a kid, our world was one… Everything was peaceful under the protection of the Guardians. Two of which, were my parents. They were among some of the greatest Guardians ever, their whole generation was… Each had a different skill to contribute, and those skills are passed down from generation to generation. Me and my little sister are the only two in our generation know to have both parents be Guardians. Oh, my little sister, she was once one of the most talkative, energetic children I’ve ever encountered. The only way my parents could get her to sleep was to sing to her. I remember those days fondly… They all ended when I was 13.
One night, while my little sister was sleeping, and I was supposed to be sleeping, I heard a noise coming from outside. Looking out the window into the garden courtyard, I watched as our world began to divide. I watched as my parents valiantly fought off dark figures, trying to keep our home and beyond it from being engulfed by the darkness. I ran outside to try to help them in anyway I could, as they both muttered a spell and gave up their energy to banish the shadows from our grounds.
My father had sensed my presence for he yelled to me. “Alucard! Get back inside and protec- Ahhh…”
I watched as one of the beasts grabbed him as it tried to resist the seal, and carried him into the forest.
My mother had taken a minor blow. Clutching her wound, she turned to me. “Alucard, my son… I’m sorry… Take care of your sister…” She then charged out of the grounds though the western gate…
I never saw her again… From what I’ve heard, all the Guardians vanished that night, leaving their husbands, wives, and children on there own.
Most of the families suffered, but none as much as my sister. She was only 3 and she had already lost both parents, and the thing is, she has no idea as to what happened… But, amazingly, she’s been strong, and quiet. I’ve not seen her cry but once, and that was the day after.
For 13 years, the seal has held up, but, just a few nights ago, something got through… Whatever it was, it took Yue. And now, I only fear for her life. I’ve sent a message to all the other Guardians of our generation, hoping they’ll be able to help me save one of our own, and possibly, restore the world to one.

Human or Night Shadow: Human
Name: Yue
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Guardian of: Love and Light
Personality: Yue has kept most of her emotions bottled up inside her for the past 13 years. She puts up a strong front for everybody she knows and often keeps quiet, but deep inside, she is suffering. She wants to let it all out, but she is afraid to. She has a gentle spirit and a caring heart.
Appearance: http://www.dollwizard.com/userimages/6c5f35796f4f6ada4903134b506d2ae5.jpg
Weapon: Magic
Bio: (Other than what I type when I started) Yue is a child of light, born to help in this time of darkness. She has the power to reunite the world, weather it be in darkness or light. It is for this reason, the King of the Night Shadows has ordered her be captured and brought to him. The longer she remains in the world of darkness, the closer she comes to becoming a Night Shadow.
Human or Night Shadow: Human, slowly being turned into a Night Shadow.
Night Shadows - Creatures of Darkness. They have always been able to be in the human world, but only at night, and they were never to be able to take on a true form. (Until the night half the world was engulfed in total darkness.) They are the shadows you see at night that seem to be cast by nothing, and when you hear things shifting a bit at night, it is caused by them. When a human remains in their world for long enough, them slowly become one themselves.

Gender: Female
Guardian of: Wisdom and the Moon
Personality: Runa is kind and cares for others but she doesn't speak with any emotion and doesn't talk much. She is smart and likes to think out battle plans instead of rushing blindly into them. If she cares for someone enough and sees them in any danger she might rush in blindly without another thought.

Though it seems weird she is the guardian of the moon, it is one of the only lights in the time of darkness. She had witnessed her parents death, as well as her older brother's. It was what made her talk without emotion. The night it had happened she had cried and cried, it seemed to have dried up all of her tears. Nothing can bring them, nothing at all. Now she doesn't know what to do, she is lost, though she knows perfectly well where she is.

Name: Marduk Wiater
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Guardian of: Free Will
Personality: Marduk is rebellious and free spirited as the Guardian of Free Will. He resents authority and will immediately balk if a request is not phrased as such. To top it off he's as stubborn as a mule. This can make him frustrating to be around as if you pick your words poorly he'll overreact. Along with obedience Marduk is also lacking in the virtues of patience and restraint. He's got a quick temper and will charge headlong into a lot of situations. That's not to say he's without virtue. Marduk is kind and will ignore any protests if he decides to be helpful and will stay dedicated to any cause until it has reached its conclusion.
Appearance: Marduk stands tall at 6'3" with sapphire blue eyes and weathered skin from training in all weather. His dirty blond hair is pulled back into a short ponytail at the base of his neck. He wears a cut down suit of armor, with most of the joints exposed to allow ease of movement. The majority of his armor is adorned with the appearance of scales and his helmet is shaped like the head of a dragon with two horns protruding from the back. His cloak is red and cut into two pointed oval shapes to imitate wings.
Weapon: Partisan (spear) and wind magic
Bio: Marduk almost resented being the son of a Guardian and destined to take over his father's role when he was young. The night he vanished they'd had yet another argument about his training. Marduk had stormed to his room but tried to sneak out almost immediately. He found himself face to face with a dozen Night Shadows. Shouting in terror he'd fled around to the front of his house, hoping his father could save him. His father did, banishing the shadows and sealing their house before being taken himself.
After that Marduk freely decided to take up his father's role and become the Guardian of Free Will. His mother was initially against it, fearing her son would be lost as well, but she has become proud of his decision as he has grown. Recently however, she was taken as well and Marduk has decided to join up with Alucard as his sister was also taken.

Alucard stood leaning against the western gate of Coshira Village, the wind blowing through his dark, brown hair. In the letter he sent out to all the other Guardians of his generation, he had requested that they meat him hear on this very day, if they wished to join him in saving his sister. So far, none had shown up. He stared off into the sky, thinking. "Just hold on, Yue. I'll be coming to find you soon..."
~~~~~~~~~~
Yue sat alone in a cold dark dungeon. She wasn't sure where she was or how she got there. She just knew she had waken up there what seemed like a few days ago. There was very little light where she was, just that given off the flame of a candle a few feet away. She looked at it, the light of it reflecting in her green eyes. It seemed to give her a bit of hope that she would not be stuck in this darkness forever.
Marduk walked briskly down the road to Coshira, his partisan slung over his shoulder, balanced by his wrist draped almost carelessly over the haft. He could get there much faster if he wanted to, however he would want to get going as soon as someone else arrived and walking saved both his strength and his patience. Of course, all that went out the window when the town finally came into sight.
"Finally. Hang on mom." He muttered to himself and broke into a run. He deftly flipped his weapon into a fighting grip before transferring it to his right hand. As soon as the weapon was safely in hand he leaped into the air, heedless of the weight of his armor as his wind magic swirled around him. He flew into the air, impossibly high for a human to jump, his red wing-cloak streaking out behind him. He came down again like a hammer, his toned legs easily handling the shock as the butt of his spear rapped lightly against the road before he took off again. Travelling like this he moved more swiftly than a mounted rider, he'd be in Cashira soon.
((K... people can join up until post 30. Oh, and I need someone to play the King of the Night Shadows.))
Alucard continued to look up at the sky, still lost in his thoughts. "Even if no one shows up, I'll still try to find you, Yue..." He then looked into the village. Still no other guardians in sight. As it was almost midday, the smell of fresh baked bread caught his nose as his stomach began to grumble. Hunger began to tempt him, but he knew to stay there encase one of the others did show.
Singing softly Zorie walked down a small path looking round. She hadn't really left anyone behind so she felt no regrets if she died while fighting for what she believed was right. She put her hand on her side where there was a scar from her past life. The one she knew nothing about. She sang a little louder just enough that if you were close by you would hear her.
Marduk's path became increasingly erratic as he neared Coshira and people began to litter the road. He began to weave from one side of the road to another, leaping high over people's heads with little care for their astonished looks. "Heh, this is fun." He thought as he landed near the wall, and leaped up on it to more alarmed murmurs.
"Now which gate was it again?" He paused and pulled out the request as he balanced precariously on a rampart. "West. Got it." He stuffed the letter back into his shirt pocket and began hopping across roofs with a variety of flips and acrobatic tricks from the south gate to the west.
(I'm with Wolfgang Hype on this... Sorry... Your character doesn't really seem to fit the rpg that well.)
Alucard heard the people of the village gasping and murmuring about something. He turned to see what it was and found that it was a man jumping across the roofs. Unsure if they were friend or foe, he drew his sword and readied himself just encase he was attacked. As the man drew closer, Alucard eased up a bit, for the aura he sensed was that of a guardian.
(The Guardians can sense aura, and have a different aura than a normal person, just so you know!)
Runa walked slowly on the grass. Her feet were bare and the grass was a dark green. The young woman sighed as she looked at the letter again. Should I go? she asked herself. I guess it would not hurt... I'm close anyways. Runa's black hair swayed behind her as she walked. Her pale skin shone softly in the sunlight and her eyes were a dark green. Runa wasn't that tall, in fact she was just under average. Her hair was just above her waist making it long but not as long as some.
{(Yay for intuition. I was going to include something about auras or in this post if he wasn't directly approached. =P )}
Marduk stopped next to a chimney near the west gate to survey the area around the grate. One downside to his particular mode of travel was it drew a crowd. For a moment he thought he might be early, then he felt a Guardian's aura. His head snapped to where he felt it coming from and he saw a man putting away a sword.
"That must be Alucard." Marduk said, and leaped from the roof doing a flip in mid air for show. He landed in the open space caused when people noticed Alucard drawing his sword. He straightened up and threw a quick salute. "Marduk Wiater, at your service."
Alucard sheathed his sword. "Good to see I did get a response. I am Alucard Lumen, Guardian of Loyalty and Truth." He then looked at the crowd of staring people. "I think it might be best to move outside the city wall for now, until this crowd dies down."
Runa stopped for a moment and bought bread with the rest of her money. From now on she would be forced to catch her own food. It was a small piece of bread, stale, and quite cold. Being the woman hadn’t eaten in awhile it tasted quite nice. Every bite was smaller than usual seeing as it was hard to bite. “Water dear?” the woman who had sold her the water asked. Runa just nodded and thanked her as she was given a ladle of water. She finished the stale bread and handed the ladle back to the woman. The woman went back to selling as Runa walked off to the meeting place. She was very close; in a few minutes she would probably meet them.
"I'm the Guardian of Free Will." Marduk said, leaning his partisan on his shoulder and looking around. "Your probably right, I think I got a little too excited." As they moved a pocket of space surrounded them, the people didn't really know what to think of Marduk and his companion by relation.
Another aura suddenly caught his attention and his head snapped around to scan the crowd again. He had to restrain himself from leaping up to a better vantage point, because it was so much harder to see people from the ground perspective. "It seems there's another one here." He said to Alucard as he looked around.
Aw... I'm here... Runa thought to herself. She pushed through the crowd without a word. Her dark green eyes looked at the two men who stayed away from the crowd. People looked at her angrily as she said nothing to them, not a word. She just pushed them out of the way. Once she was out of the crowd Runa just stared at them. The female didn’t approach them yet.
Marduk's eyes narrowed for a second as she ignored his offered hand then turned to face the aura. "No, I think he or she has the same idea as us." He said, taking a moment to pinpoint the aura then leaped to the wall. The crowd was stifling, and the space cushion they left around him somehow made it even more so.
He dropped down next to the woman the aura was emanating from. Slipping his partisan into the crook of his arm he folded them, leaning against the wall beside her with a clank as his armor connected with the stone. He sighed and said, "Too many people in one place." He looked up as he spoke, clanking again as he rearranged himself.
Name: Erebus
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Guardian of: Darkness
Personality: Erebus is not a maleficent being, instead he is devoted solely to his people and his ambition. He will do whatever it takes to get to where he feels he needs to be. He is cunning and will manipulate those who he can use, though he doesn't do it out of spite.
Appearance: His presence causes darkness and become nothing but shadow himself so his true appearance is hard to discern. He generally wears rich fabrics of dark colors.
Weapon: Darkness
Bio: Erebus' father was the one who discovered how to let the Night Shadows into the human world, the world of light. That act of ambition earned him respect from his kind, however it was also his undoing. The Guardians of the world of light were captured and brought to him. Though they blundered in the darkness of his presence they still managed to slay the King.
Erebus strode through the halls of his palace, the shadows from the pale moon-fire torches twisting and warping as he got near. Their endless dance halting for a second as they bowed before their king. His tall, dark form was draped with a long silk crimson coat without a shirt beneath it, revealing his impressive physic above straight legged black pants. His gaze didn't divert from his path as he passed the servants and guards, all who stepped quickly out of his way and bowed or saluted; barely distinguishable from the faint shadows cast by the torches. He paused briefly before a pair of guards to either side of a dungeon door. "How is she?"
"Quiet, my liege." Answered one of the guards, he didn't bother to think which.
"No tears?" He hadn't expected any, she had locked away most of her emotions along with her powers, powers he needed. "Fetch a maid. Tell her to bring fitting clothes for a court lady." He said sharply, then strode into the room, the long tail of his coat floating a bit in the gust of cool air from the room beyond.
He entered to find a young human girl, approximately 16 or 17 years old. "Hello, my pet." Erebus said in a gentle, soothing voice as he walked down a few steps to the floor. Inwardly he felt distaste for the plain-fire torch that cast golden shadows around the room but none of it showed on his face. He forced the shadows that clung to him and this very palace to withdraw from the room, allowing a little more light to emanate from the single torch and a little of his true form to show. "I'm sorry if my men caused you harm or discomfort. A maid will be here shortly with a change of clothes for you and to take you to more comfortable quarters."
Alucard made his way out of the crowd and back to the gate. There he saw Marduk standing by a young woman. He walked over to them and introduced himself to her. "I am Alucard Lumen, Guardian of Loyalty and Truth. And you Miss?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yue looked up as the door opened and a man entered. She could not see his face, but she could feel his aura. It had a darkness to it and seemed very powerful. And the words he spoke seemed to point even more to him being the King of night Shadows.
When he had finished speaking, she stood up. Looking at the man from the distance she was from him, she did not have to look up at him even though he was taller. "Why have you brought me here?" she asked firmly. "Why have you taken me from my home?" Her green and silver eyes glistened in the faint light of the moon-fire torches that came in from the door.

Runa looked at the new comer up and down. "Are you here to join us?" she asked in a cold voice. She really hadn't introduced herself to any of them, only her name. She didn't look very happy, but then again, she never looked happy. The other two seemed a bit joyful seeing as they needed who ever they could get and this new person was no exception.

"To aid us both." Erebus replied walking a bit closer to her and making the height ratio more noticeable. "I need your help, and I believe you could use mine." He reached out and gently brushed the back of a finger against her cheek as though wiping away a tear. "I'm afraid I couldn't bring your brother with you because he probably would have slew my people as they brought you or tried to kill me when he got here." He said in a comforting tone, withdrawing his hand. "Don't worry though, you'll probably see him again if he doesn't kill himself trying to rescue you.That would be most unfortunate; possibly as much for me as for you."

Yue looked at Erebus. She felt him touch her face gently. No one had ever touched her like that since her mother vanished. She could tell this man had no intention of harming her. "What is it that I can do that would help you? Even though I am the child of two of the greatest Guardians ever, I've very little power... My brother is the one with all the power..."

"Ah..." Erebus sighed the way a teacher might when confronted with a hopelessly confused student. "There you are wrong. You have more power in you than you could know." He went down almost to one knee so they were eye to eye. "However you've hidden it away within yourself. I can help you find it and I hope you would use some of that power to help me and my people."
Another Night Shadow appeared in the doorway of the cell and Erebus turned. "Ah, thank you for coming." He said gesturing to the maid to come forward. "If you would take this young lady to the room I had prepared earlier and give her a bath and that change of clothes. I'm sure she could use one after staying in this damp cell."

Yue looked at Erebus. She was fixing to say something, but then a maid walked in. She still had a ton of questions to ask, but the thought of a nice warm bath and clean living place sounded great to her about this time. So, she went with the maid as she was supposed to. As she walked past the King of Night Shadows, she gave a small bow out of respect. She hoped to talk with him again soon.

"Ah..." Ezra muttered to himself, "Her we are." Ezra could sense their presence- they were guardians as well, and he was sure they could sense him. It was nice, he concluded. To be meeting other Guardians. But, not only that. They were Guardians of his own generation. Ezra stopped and smiled slightly. "Good afternoon," he said.

Marduk suddenly went from leaning against the wall, staring at the sky in an utterly bored fashion, to upright with his partisan pointed straight at Runa as his temper flared. "I'd stay civil. I have no qualms about fighting our own and I'd rather have her than you from our few moments together."
His gaze shifted as he sensed a new aura, but his attention was still focused mostly on Runa. He was young, Marduk thought, "Hopefully not too young, I don't want to babysit."

"Thanks..." Runa said in her usual voice, of course it was sarcastic though. "Do you want me to leave?" she asked, though she didn't care what he would answer. The young woman put her index and middle finger on top of the sword and pushed it down softly, then the female turned to face the new comer, her expression even colder. Great... someone else... how big is this thing going to get? Runa Meru thought to herself, staring at the man.

Eltherin was walking along a dirt path with a newly forged sword sheathed. Eltherin's family was killed off by the Night shadows and he set out to get revenge. he didn't mean to stop the Shadow king himself, but if he could kill at least one, no, five, Night Shadows, he would be happy.

Alucard looked at Runa, then at Marduk. This could possibly be the worst thing that could happen. He took a step between them, hoping to prevent them from fighting, not knowing the reason there might have been conflict between them. "What the heck is going on here? We're not supposed to be fighting like this. Just think of what our parents would think if they saw us like this!"

For some reason Runa clenched her fists after Alucard had talked about their parents but she didn't take it any further. Instead, she let out a long breath of air and said, "Alucard is correct..." and kept on looking at the boy who had just come.

Marduk returned his partisan to it's upright position and leaned back against the wall. He didn't trust Runa. She didn't seem to care for anyone else and so couldn't be depended on. Alucard looked at Zorie. "I'm sure things will feel better as we learn more about each other..." He then spoke to the whole group. "Shall we begin our journey?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yue was lead to a rather nice sized room. The walls were a deep, dark blue, like the night shy, upon them burned torches of the moon fire flame. To her right, just right against the wall was the head of a four post bed with a crimson velvet spread and a matching canopy. Near the left corner on the other side of the room was a small table with two chairs at it. Beside that was a large wardrobe and a changing screen. Opposite that, was a door, that Yue soon learned lead to the bathroom. It was like nothing she had ever seen.
She then went into the bathroom. It too, was of good size, about the same as her room back at her house. The tub, sink, and toilet were all made of black porcelain. The tub had already been filled with warm water mixed with some sort of sweet scented bubble bath.
"Even if Alucard doesn't come to get me, I think I'll be alright! I can really get used to this!" Yue thought as she prepared for her bath.
Alright then, that was fine. A yawn escaped Ezra's lips and he slumped at his desk. He was staying the night at an inn in town, and he was just finishing up his letter to his friend, Tsume. He'd promise he'd write every now and then. You don't just take off on a journey and don't write your friends do you?! Ezra smiled as he recalled Tsume bothering him about. The guy was troublesome, but still a good friend. Ezra would have to find other guardians then, he'd seen them in town today, though they hadn't really acknowledged him. Okay, another day, another oppurtunity.
As Alucard waited for the Runa and Marduk to respond, he began to check through his supplies and make sure he had everything he needed.
Yue was soon laying in the tub with the bubbles coming close to her chin. It felt nice to be able to relax like this, not having to worry about chores or training with her brother. Never before had she felt water this warm. Despite her being the daughter of two Guardians and being one herself, she had lived in what was close to poverty ever since her parents vanished.
Thoughts of her parents began to flood her mind. As they did, emotion began to swell inside. Realizing this, she began to try to suppress her sorrow. "No Yue! There long gone and crying will get you know where. Your strong, don't give into it now." she said to herself, knowing no one could hear or see her. She took a deep breath and let it out, regaining her calm composer. "That's better..."
While Eltherin didn’t hear most of this intriguing talk, he did hear the part where their apparent leader said that they were going to start a journey. A journey? he thought. But what for? Eltherin was eager and listened in more closely. However, they talked no more. If they’re going on a ‘journey’ so they call it, he figured, then it must be pretty important! I mean, who uses the word ‘journey’ for a normal trip to the market? If they’re going somewhere important… Night Shadows are sure to appear and they’re going to need a Guardian! Guess who: Me! Without thinking anymore, he rushed from behind the wall, failing to realize that if they were going somewhere with Night Shadows, they would be Guardians themselves, and he used faulty logic anyway. “Anywhere important” doesn’t necessarily mean Night Shadows would be there. But then again, he was who he was. Eltherin is the Guardian of Courage, but he might as well be the Guardian of Arrogance. “Hey guys!” Eltherin yelled to the group, running to them. Eltherin then tripped on a pointed rock and fell into a nearby mud puddle. He remained motionless in the puddle for a few seconds, but soon, he rushed back up into a standing position with a ridiculously optimistic smile on his face, as if he never tripped in the first place, and as if his clothes weren’t soaked with the mud. “Hiya!” he greeted, holding out his hand for a shake. There was so much mud on him, that when he so hastily held out his hand, some mud splashed on their leader’s clothes. He didn’t seem too proud of that, so Eltherin put his hand away. “Name’s Eltherin Kinders!” he continued hastily. “And I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation about this journey you’re having. You see, I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but the Shadow King has already sent out his troops to take over the world and, in fact, some of them killed my family. It’s very dangerous outside those walls! You’ll need a Guardian to protect you! That is, a Guardian with a capital ‘G’! And guess what: you’re in luck! You have the Guardian of Courage standing right in front of you!” At that, he drew his sword, but the mud seeped into the sheath and covered the sword too and it splashed mud on the rest of the group. Hopefully they wouldn’t ask for proof. He was, indeed, a Guardian, but he had no way to prove it. He looked over and saw that one of the people was holding a partisan. “Woah!” He said in awe at the spear. “Cool partisan!” He sheathed his sword and rushed over to him. He took the Partisan from the man. “Can I try it??” he asked eagerly.
((Okay, I know the partisan was sitting on a wall a few minutes ago, but I’ll assume you picked it up. And by the way, is this detailed enough for you? No, it did not take me the whole week.))
EDIT: {( Try to avoid wall of text (lots of text without any breaks) as it looks intimidating to some and is more difficult to read. A new paragraph should come whenever you change topics or change speaker.)}
(Here is a tip that might help, act as though your writing it for school or something like that. You wouldn't want to turn in a big block of text to your Lit Teacher, would you?)
Alucard brushed the mud off of his armor, then looked at Eltherin. "That is kind offer, but as you are the Guardian of Courage, we too are Guardians. I am Alucard, Guardian of Truth and Loyalty. And yes, we do already know about the Night Shadow King and his army. He's abducted my younger sister and I am planing to rescue her with the help of other Guardians. They may have other motives for why they are helping me, and if you wish to know them, take it up with them."
He paused for a moment, then began to speak again. "You are welcome to join us if you wish, but if you do, please be more aware of your surroundings. A lack of attention in the Night Shadow Kingdom can quickly lead to trouble. And there will probably be enough of it as is."
Runa looked at the mud that Eltherin has splattered on her and the others. She brushed it off and sighed. She didn't think to mention her name or what she was guardian of. The female didn't feel comfortable enough to tell that information yet although if someone were to ask her, Runa would tell them, no use making things stranger than they already were.
Slowly, the woman backed away from the boy just in case he made any more movements that might cause more mud to fall on her.
