Each think the other is trying to take over their continent, but little do they know, the two are meerly the puppets of rogue wyvern knights with the name Monte Cristo. Among them, there is a boy, who migth change the fate of these two continents, if only he was allowed. To do so though...he needs the help of another individual......

Bio: He grew up ina small poor, Rividian village. Since Rividia was generally known as a horrible place to grow up thanks to the rule of a black dragon, he was reduced to a street theif with his younger sister Mel. Soon, his sister was taken by the Monte Cristo and he was forced to join them or lose her forever. That brings us to presents days emotionless Akuri.

Bio: Rueh grew up on her own since her family was killed during the war between the two continents, but she was 'adopted' by a group of thieves who called themselves the Dusk Bandits. They'd steal anything just to make a living for themselves, and they became well known throughout both continents. However, after Rueh met her wyvern she's spent the past several years travelling and stealing whatever's necessary to survive. During one of her trips she met a young girl named Mel and the two have become close friends. However she knows Mel is in some kind of trouble and wants to help her somehow, but unless her friend tells her what's going on there's little she can do for her.

In the Monte Cristo head quarters, Akuri said quietly next to his wyvern Nemu. She was an affection thing she was, but it fell on a numb human. He was such an emotionless thing after the beatings he'd taken from the other members it was hard to tell what the young one was thinking except about saving his sibling. That must've been the main thing.

"Good grief where is that girl? I know she told me to meet her here." Rueh said to herself as she sat on a piece of broken wall near the Monte Cristo headquarters. She'd been here for the past thirty minutes waiting for Mel to show up, seeing as she came out here every night and had asked for Rueh to come whenever she could. So here she was waiting for her friend to show up while trying to look as inconspicious as possible.

Soon enough, Mel showed up in her white prisoner dress. There were cuts on her face as if someone had beaten her and bruises running along her arms. She smiled upon seeing Rueh's face. Stopping she tucked her arms in behind herself."Hello Rueh, was I late?"

While this was going on, Akuri was walking around the base. There was no interception mission tonight, so he would once again look for Mel's holding cell. Even if he was found walking along the halls, the worst they could do was send him on a mission all by himself.

"Hey Mel, but good gods look at you. You look like someone's beaten you to hell and back." Said Rueh as she looked Mel over with a worried expression on her face. She could tell someone was doing all this to Mel, but who? The younger girl wouldn't tell her anything and it was really starting to grate on her nerves a bit. Mainly because she wanted to help her, but she couldn't if she didn't tell her anything.

Mel giggled, grushing down her dress. She smiled happily, though it was somewhat faked and began talking to Rueh. Now, her voice was soft and queit, but it could still be heard, "Oh, I just tripped alot today, thats all."

And that was her usual excuse. Though sometimes it varied to things like she was walking through the woods-not true at all- or she`d been playing with the baby wyvern's. That last one never happened.

Akuri stared at Nemu who still followed him even in these tight corridors. She was a persistent thing, but he knew it would happen anyways. Tommorow, there was a mission- it had been posted on a bulletin board he'd passed by-and he had little time to use to get find his sister. Not that it mattered if he did. They find out a immediatly and move her elsewhere.

Rueh just looked at Mel like she didn't believe her, and she knew Mel was already aware that her quick lies weren't working very well.
"Mel tell me something, why is it that you think you have to hide things from me? I know something's going on, and if you won't tell me then I'll find out for myself one way or another." She told the young girl. She wasn't trying to sound threatening or anything, but she just wanted Mel to realize that she was serious about finding out what was going on. She had her methods and she wasn't above using them when necessary, and this looked like the perfect time to put that into action.

She shook her head gently, "No, no its fine...really...I'm sorry Rueh, I must go now"

Shrinking back into the darkeness, Mel could no longer be seen. Just as well to, for her morning meal had just arrived. They placed it out early to stretch her meals and make her desperate. It seemed to work, but only on some days.

Soon, Akuri stopped his search and hopped upon Nemu's back. The wyvern took this as enough incentive to bring him back to his room. Emotionless or not, he still got tired, and this was one of those times, though no doubt he wouldn't be allowed to sleep very long. That is, when you considered the fact that he was on the list of mission participants again.

Rueh just watched Mel walk off before glancing over her shoulder at Shade. "Well what do you think? Should I follow her?" She asked her Wyvern, but just from the look in the Shade's eye she already had her answer.
After a quick mental conversation with Shade, Rueh slid into the shadows and took off after Mel. It was high time she got some answers, and when she told her friend she was going to figure out what was going on she wasn't kidding.

Spoting her quickly as her eyes had adujusted to the darkness, Mel sighed. It was almost a worried huff, "You shouldn't be here Rueh...its not safe."

She moved over to one of the dark corners sitting down. Daybreak would soon come and a guard would check on her. If Rueh was found there was no telling what could happen. And really, she didn't want to know what would happen.

"As if I care whether it's safe or not, when I said I was gonna find a way to help you I wasn't kidding." Rueh said as she stepped up into Mel's full view. She wasn't afraid of any guards or anything like that, she could get by them easily. Especially since she'd dealt with memebers of Monte Cristo before and knew how they liked to work.

"Please Rueh...its alright. You should go.Besides...I should probably sleep now...."

Curling up, Mel attempted to sleep even though the floor was rather cold. She really didn't want Rueh to get hurt, so she was trying to get her to leave but...so far it wasn't working. If anything, the young girl wished it was.

"Alright fine, but I am coming back and I am getting you out of here. Whether you want me to or not." Said Rueh and now that her mind was made up on that account she vanished once again from sight. She was going to have to do some serious planning from this point on, but between her and Shade she was positive they could come up with something that would work.

Soon morning came and Mel was forced awake. A guard picked her up by the arm roughly and began dragging her out of the room. She looked at him pathetically, as if questioning why and the guard spoke without looking at her, "We're changing you room to the lower, underground level."

With that, she nodded her head.

Akuri sat atop his wyvern, shoulder and chest armor strapped to him at last. Stroking Nemu's long neck almost mechanically, he sighed. The mission was very soon, and other knights were still preparing. He continued to wait, until the others were ready, and being a captian, he led the group to the target, wyvern's giving them the lift to that place.

As the guard was dragging Mel away, neither even noticed they were being followed. Rueh had snuck in earlier that day and was now following them as they headed towards the underground prison cells. That area she knew like the back of her hand, so she didn't doubt she could get her plan into motion. She just had to catch them at a moment when the guards weren't around, and if her memory served her correctly that wouldn't be hard either.

Suddenly though, the guard turned a corner to an unfamiliar corridor that Mel knew absoulutely nothing about. It didn't lead to the underground cells. In fact, it led to a wyvern guarded area called Crisca Moa. These wyverns in particular were untamed and vicous. Knowing this, Mel whimpered.

Holding his lance tightly in hand, Akuri dived down upon a normal, Kanakanian village, Nemu grabbing small children and grown men up into her claws. Standing on her back, he moved towards those ensnared and stabbed the spear through them mercilessly. Nemu dropped them immediatly, the human on her back watching his 'comrades' do the same as he.

"Oh the Crisca Moa, this is gonna be more fun then I thought." Rueh thought to herself as she made sure her guns were in their holsters before continuing her pursuit of the guard and Mel. She knew Shade was flying around waiting for her signal to dive in and get them out, so now she just had to improvise until the opportunity presented itself.

The guard suddenly stopped and chucked Mel towards another, more bulky man. This man must've been a guard trained to get through the vicious wyverns, for he walked past them with ease, throwing her into a cell close by. Yelling at the creatures with orders that came in the form of dragon tongue, they shrinked back and stood in front of her cell menacingly.

Rueh just laughed to herself as the two guards walked away, but she was going to need to wait a while before attempting to approach the cell. It'd be better to wait because it'd give the guards more of a chance to get far away, meaning it would take longer for them to discover her little trick.

Mel watched the wyvern's carefully, crawling forward close to the bars. Opening her mouth, the young girl attempted to fluently talk to the wyvern's in the same tongue the man used. They ignored her, breaking the girl up a little. She curled up into a ball, and sat still, trying to ignore everything.

Soon, as the village was engulfed in flames and the mark of the Rividian army was left, he led the squad back mounted upon his wyvern. Staring at his lance, Akuri glared emotionlessly. He knew that these people were innocent, and this was their blood on his weapon. That truly disgusted him more then the fiends who took his sister.

"Oh dear me what do we have here, a couple of big ugly wyverns." Said Rueh in a taunting voice as she walked up in full view of the two dragonlike creatures. Both her guns were in her hands and she just eyed the wyverns with a smug look as she waited to see which would lunge at her first.

Neither moved and they continued to ignore her. Yes they were vicious, but the orders given by that man earlier seemed to fun to pass up. They stayed put, keeping a close eye on her, almost growling. If she attempted anything, they'd try and kill her for sure.

"Let me guess, you're waiting for me to make a move right? Well how about this?"

Rueh suddenly shot both Wyverns with multiple beams of purplish colored energy. For a few seconds neither Wyvern even moved before the first one fell followed closely by the second. However their eyes were still moving and they growled menacingly at Rueh, but it was like they couldn't do any more then that right then.

"Paralyze spells, you gotta love it." Said Rueh as she proceeded to pick the lock on Mel's cell.

"Please don't Rueh....they'll kill him...."

She moved to the back of the cell, curling up unhappily. If there was anything she didn't want, was for her brother Akuri who was still, in that village to be killed. He was probably in pain from not being able to stop them. There was no way she'd let him die.(remember, she's unaware of the fact he was forced to join them)

"Well then guess I'll have to save his butt to won't I?" Said Rueh with a reassuring smile once she finally broke through the lock and opened the door to Mel's cell. Once inside she walked over to the younger girl and pulled her into a makeshift hug.
"I promise I'll get you out of here and help your brother, and I don't make promises like that lightly either. All I'm asking is for you to trust me." Said Rueh as she pulled Mel up from off the ground.

"O-okay....just please...don't let them get him. He's no match for a wyvern."

Being stuck on the past, she wasn't even aware he was a wyvern knight. If she had been aware, these words would not have left her mouth, and the frail girl simply let Rueh take her away if she had to. There was no reason to struggle against a friend.

The squad and he were almost halfway back. The breeze was nice, and Akuri truly wished he could enjoy. But that could not be done. He couldn't enjoy it, and not just because he'd given up on feeling things. There was still blood on his lance after all...

"Alright, then lets get out of here first. Then we'll worry about grabbing that brother of yours." Said Rueh as she pulled Mel up onto her back and raced out of the prison cell. Already the paralyzing spell on those Wyverns would be wearing off so she needed to get out of here as quickly as possible. However she had one advantage in that Shade was waiting nearby so she just had to give one whistle and the wyvern would get down there as quickly as she possibly could go.

Soon enough, the spell on the two wyvern's came off and the one on th left clawed after them. Flying after wasn't an option for it in these tight quarters after all. The other watched from behind, knowing it would be unable to help in the small quarters unless it was close to the Crisca Moa cells.

Rueh just quickly glanced behind them as she ran, but luckily they had one advantage. The Wyvern couldn't fight very well in close quarters like this, so if she stuck to the tighter hallways there wouldn't be any possible way the wyvern could get its claws on them. So she adjusted her plan accordingly and started running down only the smaller hallways.

"You okay back there Mel?" Rueh called out over her shoulder as she continued running towards the nearest exit.

Soon enough, since the two were out of the Crisca Moa, the wyvern stopped chasing them and went back. There was no point going out further. Hearing Rueh's words though, Mel nodded quickly. Figuring Rueh might not have seen it though, she spoke up, "Yes, I'm fine."

"Good, now lets get the hell out of here." Said Rueh as she whistled, causing a large black Wyvern to dive down towards them and land nearby. Without any hesitation Rueh set Mel on Shade's back before climbing up behind her and once she was sure both girls were on her back Shade took off into the skies.

And just as they took off into the skies, they were spotted by Akuri's squad, who had just returned from the mission. Squinting he yelled to one of the members to check out the riders and wyvern. There wasn't normally two people on one wyvern. When that squad member reported it to be a prison escapie, and someone who wasn't identified as a member, he sighed. The boy really didn't want to, but with his blood stained lance he issued the order to surround and secure them.

"Mel get down!" Rueh ordered the younger girl as she stood up on Shade's back and began firing blasts of energy at the wyverns and their riders. Most she managed to take down with a few hits, but others were still on their trail so she quickly sat back down while continuing to fire at their pursuers.

"Shade take evasive action now!" Rueh yelled to her wyvern friend, and Shade just roared in agreement before she began weaving in and around the clouds using their dark color to help her blend in so it would be much harder for them to be seen.

Looking at the other squad members he realised he only had four men left. Glaring, Akuri stood ontop of his wyvern, holding onto the reins and his lance tightly. Yelling out loudly, he whipped the reins, "Nemu! Catch up to them now!"

Beating her wings faster at his command, she hyper jumped and caught up to Rueh and Mel easily. Noticing just who was on the back of that wyvern, he almost gave the signal to stop. But if the boy did that....they'd find Mel and kill her first, then him. But this was also a chance to retrieve his sister...The only question he had in mind now was how to do so without the others noticing as they'd just caught up, "Hand the prisoner over now!

"If you want her then come and get her!" Rueh yelled back at him before Shade warped ahead of them. Of course she had no idea that was Mel's brother she was talking to, so she thought she was just fighting against another Monte Cristo idiot who didn't know when to give up.

Looking back as Akuri began to catch up, Mel began to notice key features. Her older brothers features. Reaching a hand out towards him, she cried in an upset manner, "Akuri!!!"

Hearing her call his name, he told Nemu to catch up faster. The wyvern speeded, knowing how pained he was to have to do this. To have to drag her back to those bastards. Catching up, he stabbed his spear at Rueh's wyvern, "Give her back!!"

Hearing what Mel said and the note of distress that was in her voice, Rueh easily put two and two together. However, evidently Akuri didn't want these other guys getting their hands back on Mel so she would need to do this carefully.

"Like I said, if you want her then come get her!" Rueh yelled, but at the same time she motioned downwards while giving him a look that clearly said for him to follow her. Below them the clouds had grown much thicker then earlier, and if they could get below them it would offer them all the cover they needed for her to help them make a quick getaway, without being seen.

He only nodded, though the angry look on his face remained apparent. Following her, he watched Mel carefully. His little sister was crying and watching him straight back. Maybe it was because she had never known he precious brother was with those thugs. Or maybe it was because she had missed him so much it was unbearable. Either way, he knew he wished it was possible for him to cry to.

"Hang on Mel." Rueh said to the younger girl as she placed one arm around her and held onto Shade with the other. Suddenly, the large wyvern dove downwards in a straight dive, and she didn't even slow her descent until she had landed just underneath the cover of some trees and large rocks that towered over them.
However, it wasn't until she saw Akuri and Nemu land nearby that she helped Mel off of Shade's back and let her young friend race over to them as fast as she could go.

Sliding off his wyvern's back, he was soon rammed in the chest hard by Mel's head. She hugged him tightly and cried loudy. Stroking her hair, Akuri smiled for the first time in many, many long years. Since it had been so long to, it was a strange smile. One that looked almost sad and crooked.The guards will probably go report back to the commander...how long will this moment last?

Rueh just watched the two from where she was still sitting on Shade's back. She'd let them have their reunion without her interference, after all she had promised she'd get Mel back to her brother and she'd managed to do so rather quickly. Even if it had been by chance anyway.

"Well guess my job's done." Rueh thought to herself as she slid down off of Shade and moved to walk away, with her wyvern right beside her as normal.

Soon enough though, a strange man landed in front of the siblings. His hair was long and slicked back, and he wore the armour of the Monte Cristo's commanders. Smiling at them, he walked over to Akuri and Mel, motioning his own wyvern, Jaru, to keep guard. Laughing, he spoke in a sadistic tone, "Well hello you two. I'm glad you found your sister Akuri. Now lets go back to the headquarters, hmmmm?"

"Oh well well well who have we here? How long's it been again?" Asked Rueh as she stood on Shade's back while the large wyvern stood between the newcomer and the siblings. However, from appearances it seemed Rueh knew this man but how or from where she didn't say.

Pointedly ignoring her, he walked around the wyvern and stared Akuri in the face. He took on a defencive postion, pushing Mel behind him. There was no way in hell he was letting the commander touch her. The man laughed, "Calm down, calm down. I'm not going to do anything...unless you resist."

However, before he could say anything else Rueh managed to hit him from behind with another one of her paralyzing spells. "Hey when I talk to someone I'd like it very much if you'd listen!" She said to the commander as she slammed her foot down on the back of his neck from where he'd hit the ground.

"You two get going, I can handle this bastard." Said Rueh as she eyed Akuri and Mel as if daring them to argue with her.

Nodding, Akuri and his sister bolted towards Nemu, who wasn't impatiently a 3 meters behind them. Quickly though, a wall of fire blazed up to surround the area, cutting the siblings off from Nemu. Now, the wyvern could fly over fire, but it would take a while considering the height of the wall. The commander stood chuckling at Rueh's word, "Oh no, no, no missie!These two absolutly must come back with me."

Turning around to face Rueh, he smirked bringing out a dragon tooth spear.

"Oh I'm so scared, now how many times have you actually won any of our fights?" Said Rueh who wasn't even scared at the sight of her opponents spear. How did she know him you ask? Lets just say that the group of thieves she came from didn't forgive traitors very easily.

"Shade go help Mel, I can handle this." She mindspoke to her wyvern, and Shade nodded before taking off after the two siblings.

Nemu glared at the wall of fire, and hit the air with her wings, lifting herself up off the ground to make it to the top of the flames. Her rider was on the otherside ith an important person to him. There was no way she was going to let him down now.

Akuri and Mel on the otherhand stood together, brother in the front, sister in the back. He felt sort of helpless really. This girl had come out of nowhere, offering this kind of help and now, the commander was here to ruin everything. The commander on the otherhand was rather amused. He stared at Rueh hard, and chuckled once more, "Who said I was the same as I was last time. In fact, you should be so lucky if you make it out of this fight. Akuri!"

Snapping his fingures, the commander gained control over the the older brothers movements, "Fight her!"

Rueh snarled angrily at the commander. "You always did play dirty." She hissed before taking a defensive stance. She'd have to be careful in this fight, she didn't want to end up killing Akuri by any chance but if she figured this out right she might could get away with stopping him long enough for them to get away. So with a plan already forming in her mind she held her guns tightly in her hands while waiting to see who would make the first move.

At that same moment Shade stood in front of Mel as if daring anyone to try and approach the girl while she was there. Believe it or not Shade was not a wyvern you wanted to get mad, because it often ended badly for whoever was stupid enough to do so.

Soon enough, through all the stalling, Nemu made it over the wall, diving bombing to the ground. Akuri, under Monte Cristo control, looked at his wyvern once and spoke in a hollow, almost ghost-like voice, "Nemu!Take Mel and go to 1.BHY."

It was a code that only the Monte Cristo knew, and the wyver understood what it meant, though unsure as to why that would be her command. Making her way over to Shade and Mel, she attempted to coax the little sister over. While this was going on, the commander had shouted to Akuri to go for killing blows against Rueh. An order so hard to go against. Charging her swung the lance tip forward.

Rueh quickly dodged the attack using her almost unnatural speed to her advantage.
"Nemu don't! Akuri's under their control so don't let them get Mel!" She yelled out at Nemu. True the wyvern might not listen to her but she had to make an effort, and she knew Shade would try and get some sense into Nemu if necessary. Her only goal now was to try and find the best opportunity to hit Akuri then get him out of here before the commander could move in.

Nemu let out a helpless, wyvern moan. There was nothing she could do. An order was an order, especially from her rider. And even under the commander's control, she trusted him to the point of kill herself or removing her own wings.

"Nemu!"

The wyvern winced and continued to coax the slowly trusting Mel. Akuri on ther otherhand was now swing his spear in a deathblow aimed manner. It was apparently a style that was meant to becme an unpredictable pattern.

"Sorry about this Akuri." Rueh thought to herself before she dodged the next attack and then sent a blast of paralyzing energy straight at Akuri. It would only keep him from moving for a set amount of time and with him distracted she raced over towards Mel and grabbed her.

"If you want her you'll have to go through me first!" She said in a threatening tone of voice as she placed Mel behind her while aiming her guns at anyone that tried to approach.

From behind, an arm gripped her in a headlock, cutting off Rueh's air supply. This person was the commander, who had dissapeared the second Akuri had been paralyzed. Coming out of paralyzation, Akuri stood up, fumbling slightly. Still under control her turned and walked over to the scene, ordering Nemu, to pick up Mel at the first chance sighted. This was to prove more difficult then one would have wished....

However, the commander didn't count on Rueh kicking him in the face forcing him to release her. Now how did she do that? Well she's just really flexible, plus he made the mistake of having his face to close to her shoulder.

"If you want Mel you're going to have to do better then that." Hissed Rueh with a wicked smirk before she grabbed Mel and put her on Shade's back.
"Shade go! Get Mel somewhere safe." She commanded and the wyvern nodded before taking off at an amazingly fast speed.

Ah, but there was miscalculation Rueh probably hadn't seen. Mel had already been taken. She was in Akuri's hands now, and the thing on shade was physical illusion. The little sister cried, speaking to Akuri in a hiccupie voice. Her words fell on deaf ears though, and the elder sibling called Nemu over, hopping onto the wyvern's back. She took off reluctently at top speed.

The commander chuckled, "This is the way things will stay. I refuse to let the Boss' mission fail."

Shade however had already figured out what had happened and shot off after Nemu. Even if she couldn't stop the wyvern she could at least find out where they were going.

"So you're whole mission involves forcing people into your twisted game? You've really sunk low." Rueh snarled back angrily before she lunged at the commander while firing energy blasts at him. She was going to bring him down one way or another, no matter what it took to do so.

Laughing, he chucked the spear at her full forced. Of course, the thing about dragon tooth spears was, when chucked so powerfully, they multiplied into a many. A powerfuly combo when it came to this situation.

Nemu, watched Shade, and then focused, knowing Akuri wanted her to go faster to that particular point. Going down, the wyvern dived under the water-as they had reached the ocean- and dissapeared from view. This was neccasary to arrive at the promised destination.

However, Shade continued to follow them but with her dark coloring it was easy to keep herself out of view. She wasn't going to loose them now, and so help her she was going to help Mel and Akuri get out of there the same way her rider had done.

Rueh moved to dodge the spear as it flew towards her. However she misjudged her distance and as a result the spear tore into her side as it flew past, forcing her to her knees as blood began to drip onto the ground.
"You..........bastard!" She snarled angrily as she forced herself back to her feet. She wasn't going down that easily that was for sure.

The commander continued to smirk and the spear suddenly stopped in mid air. It floated for a few seconds before going over to his own wyvern. Changing shape into a large, attached arm blade the wyvern stepped towards the fight, swiping with his large claw at Rueh. The other man meerly watched.

Akuri held his breath tightly until Nemu reached an underwater dome. Going thorugh an open air duct, the wyvern found refuge for the humans inside. This was the correct place. An underwater Monte Cristo base. Mel slipped off the wyvern with her brother and stared at the Monte Cristo insignia on the door to the inside.

Rueh continued to dodge the wyvern's blade, but she knew she couldn't keep this up forever especially since she'd already been wounded. She'd have to think up something really really fast before things took a turn for the worst.


Shade just watched from her hiding place in the shadows. She would need to time this right if she was going to get Mel, and hopefully Akuri, out of a worse situation. However with Akuri under that man's control that could make it even tricker then usual.

Continueing with the swipe of its claws, the wyvern let out a loud roar that gave the commander his cue. Laughing he charged Rueh, an eerie glow appearing around his hand. Upon getting close enough, he sent a blazing black fire at her.

Still under a deep control, he opened the door, and led Mel inside only to be greeted by a superior. The man smiled and took Mel from his arms. This of course broke all control the commander had on him and he houted, "Wait! I'll take her to her cell, okay?"

"Can I trust you'll really do it?"

"Yes sir."

The next thing that was heard was a Rueh's scream as the black fire engulfed her body just as she dodged another hit that the wyvern had aimed at her. Because the fire had come at her immediately after she dodged another blow it was near impossible for her to get out of the way in time to avoid getting hit. So the flames hit her head on.


Sensing that Akuri was no longer under the commander's control, Shade decided that now it was time to move in.
"Akuri.....this is Shade. Rueh's wyvern." She mindspoke to him. Yes unlike most wyvern's she had that ability, even though it was rare among her kind.

The commander chuckled, figuring it was alright to leave now. He'd head back to Monte Cristo headquarters, and retrieve Akuri later. So for now, as he left on his wyvern's back, the commander was satisfied.

Akuri's head snapped back to the door as he held onto Mel, the higher up's glare on him. Yes, what do you want? He stood still, much to the confusion of Mel and the guard. If he didn't, he wouldn't be able to keep up the mindlink with the wyvern. The boy wasn't practiced in that sort of thing.

"Listen to me carefully, the minute I say so I need you to duck down and stay down until I say it's safe again. I'm going to get you and Mel both out of here while I have the chance." Shade answered Akuri, while preparing to fire her own attack straight at the guards. That would offer enough of a distraction that hopefully she could get the two out and get back to Rueh as fast as possible.

Alright, I'll be wait-The higher up watching him snapped his fingers. The Monte Cristo never did trust Akuri, as the boy was very likely to become traitor to them and steal his sister back. That was the only reason they came up with personel control. So, as the man snapped his fingers, the older brother was once more out of control. Orders were barked at him rudely, and he took Mel away with him.

"Damn looks like I'll have to be careful here." Shade thought, and once Akuri was out of harms way she sent a blast of blue colored flames straight at the guards. None of them were expecting it and each one was completely consumed by the fire. Now the benefits with this were that because she'd taken out the person controlling Akuri that should break whatever hold they had on him.

"Akuri! Quick come meet me at the end of the hallway with Mel." She commanded him, using a more powerful form of mind control that would ensure he would listen to her without question. True she hated controlling him like that but it was the only way to ensure she could get them both to safety.

It certainly did work though. Akuri did come as quickly as he could, Mel on his back, completly confused. He'd killed on the way to, and that in itself had nearly broken any control. Mel could tell, her brother had blood on his face, and it was killing him. The younger sister spoke up as they approached Shade, "Your Rueh's wyvern aren't you?"

"Yes I am, she asked me to come help the two of you while she took care of that commander. However I fear something very bad may have happened while we were gone so we must hurry!" Said Shade to both Mel and Akuri as they climbed up on her back, and once there she took off. Now she just had to make one more stop and that was to get Rueh before they made their final getaway.

It seemed like a rather fast ride to Mel, unlike Akuri who was used to it and she found herself shivering on the way there. Of course, the older of the siblings did hold onto her at some point upon realizing her cold-skinness, so all was well. Upon arriving of course, Mel was shocked to see Rueh very hurt, and dragged her brother over. The girl squirmed around and finally Akuri picked up Rueh, "The commander....probably cheated from the looks of it..."

"Oh he.....always cheats. That's nothing new." Rueh managed to say. How she could even still be awake after being injured as badly as she was could be anyone's guess, but then again she always was toughter then most took her for.

"So take them to the usual place?" Asked Shade as she waited for the three to climb back on her back.

"Yeah, you know....where to go from here." Said Rueh before she coughed, but she just wiped off the blood from around her mouth as if it were nothing to be concerned about.

Akuri tapped her forehead lightly wit his knuckles, and stared at her emotionlessly, "Stop talking."

A rather blunt way to mkae someone shut up so they could stay healthy. But the again....this was Akuri. The boy who was unable to feel anything unless it ws for his sister. Looking around, the wyvern rider gave a confused look, "Wheres...Nemu? Did she stay behind Mel...?"

"I'm not sure brother....."

"I already contacted Nemu and told her where to go, she should be meeting us there. Oh and I apologize for using a little mind control on you earlier Akuri, I had to outwit those guards to ensure I could get you and Mel out safely." Said Shade as she glanced back at her three riders. Although she felt a spark of worry shoot through her when she noticed that Rueh was already unconcious and she was still bleeding rather badly from the wound on her side. She'd need to get back home quickly or else who knew what would happen to her rider and her closest friend.

The male only nodded and shifted Rueh until she was on his back. Climbing onto Shade he helped up Mel as well. Akuri spoke up, rather calmly, if not without emotion, "We should go...."

Mel watched him carefully after that. It seemed to have finally occured to her that something was differant about her brother. He used to be a hot-head...where'd that go?Of course, under the current circumstances, this really wasn't the time to worry about that. She'd ask later.

"Alright then, hang on." Said Shade and once she was absolutely sure they were ready she jumped up into the air. Luckily it wasn't a very far flight to where they needed to go, and once they got there it would be extremely hard to find them.

Eventually, and thankfully without being sighted, Shade started flying towards a huge mountain range at the very edge of Rividia. Supposedly this particular area seperated the two kingdoms, and if that was the case it probably was no shock that Rueh lived out in this area. Not only that but the Monte Cristo avoided this area like the plague because if they were seen going from one side to the other it wouldn't be long before everyone figured out about their doublecross.

So in other words they'd be very hard to find around this area, and not only that but Shade landed right outside what looked like a cave entrance right in the middle of the mountains themselves. It was surrounded on all sides keeping it well hidden, and sure enough Nemu was standing outside waiting for them to arrive.

"Well I brought them as I promised Nemu." Shade told the other wyvern as she motioned towards the riders that were still on her back.

Nemu meerly gave a wyvern smile, being unable to do speak back to Shade without using wyvern tongue. Plopping her bottom down on rocky grond of the cave, she swished her tail and waited for Akuri. The boy came soon enough, gently placing Rueh down on a less rocky part of the cave. He walked over to Nemu momentarily with Mel and told the wyvern to keep her safe. There was a little more expression in that, but it dissapeared soon, and he turned back to Shade soon enough, "Are there herbs in these mountains?"

Of course, Akuri wouldn't know anything about this place, being with the Monte Cristo for a long time. It was an unerstandable queston, depending on your point of view.

"There should be, I can show you if you wish." Said Shade seeing as both she and Rueh knew these mountains inside and out. Hey when there wasn't much else to do but explore you end up learning plenty about the places you've been.

After some-strategic- thinking, the wyvern rider nodded. It was something that should be done. For if he were to get lost, there was no telling what would happen. On that note if he was found by the Monte Cristo, Mel would be once again without her brother, and would most likely leave Rueh in secret to look for him with Nemu, "That would be wise."

Shade just nodded in response before speaking to Nemu in the wyvern's own language. She was actually asking Nemu to guard both Mel and Rueh while she and Akuri were gone, and once she had made her request she took off into the nearby moutains with Akuri riding on her back.

Akuri sat straight up, not bothering to hold onto to Shade. Really, he didn't need to. The boy was used to it this way. Hopefully, there weren't monsters in this mountain range, or the herb gathering who take a while. It would definatly delay things more then he wanted as well. One reason he brought the spear....

Luckily it wasn't a far flight before they landed next to a rather large group of trees. How anything could grow out here was unknown, but at least there wasn't anything in there that was potentially dangerous.

"You should be able to find what you need here, and there shouldn't be anything dangerous there. It's hard enough getting up here without the ability to fly." Said Shade once she had finally landed.

He only nodded and bgan to scavenge the ground for herbs. Of course, he was looking for a certain kind that healed wounds from dragon spear's and things of the like. There was such a plant of course if you don't believe me, and it usually did grow in mountains. Continuing his search, Akuri soon found a little patch of the plants he was looking for mixed in with weeds. Tugging out the weeds first, he then proceeded to take only a few of them, cutting off the roots.

Using the connection that all wyverns shared with each other, Shade took the chance to contact Nemu to make sure things were still clear at the caven.

"Nemu, it's Shade. How are things down there?" She asked in the same wyvern language she had used earlier.

Fine I believe, but you may want to hurry... Nemu replied rather politely. She nodded Mel's head as the girl had laid down to sleep. Liftng her elongated head again, she spoke to Shade, Is Akuri almost done?

"I believe so, there hasn't been any trouble here so with any luck we should be back soon." Shade answered Nemu, while keeping Akuri in sight just to be safe.

Good..... After that Nemu cut the connection and retrned to watching over Mel and Rueh. At the sametime Akuri walked the wyvern and spoke up, holding the herbs gently in one hand so as not to smother them, "We can go back now."

"Alright then, climb on." Said Shade as she lowered herself closer to the ground, making it easier for Akuri to climb up on her back. She all of a sudden had the feeling that they needed to get back to the others as fast as possible, because the connection her and Rueh shared was starting to fade off little by little.
And Shade knew there was only one reason for that.

Giving another quick nod, he hopped on, and secured himself to Shade properly. The boy had a feeling this time might be faster then the other time. And if he was right, having good balance wasn't gonna help him too much. Experiance...maybe a little. But you can't always depend on those things alone.

This time Shade made extra sure Akuri was holding onto her tightly before taking off at a much faster speed then before. Believe it or not Shade could be very very fast when she wanted to, and it only took half the time to get back to the caves then it did leaving them.
But at least one good thing was that nothing had happened in their absence, which was just one of the benefits to living way out here.

Seeing that nothing had indeed happend, he slid off Shades back and found a sharp rock, and a flat one. Placing the herbs on it, he began to grind them between the two rocks. Now if this had happened a 5 or 6 years back, Akuri would have not known what to do, and would have been panicking, but now, he was a bit of a medical expert in a sense. The wyvern rider had to be. Otherwise, He and Nemu would have been in tons more trouble then usual. Finally it was grinded to the right amount, and somewhat mushy.Picking up the flat rock with the pounded, mushy herbs, he headed over to Rueh.

"Uh oh, that doesn't sound good." Said Shade as she glanced up at the sky once a sharp boom of thunder cut through the air. Storms up in this area could be downright violent sometimes, and from the sounds of it they were in for another big one. Well at least the mountains offered plenty of cover, and Shade motioned for Nemu to follow her inside as she stepped into the cool darkness of the cave itself.

Nemu did so, and pulled Mel along with her. At this time, Akuri had started spreading the now mushy herbs over Rueh's injuries. It would have stung badly had she been awake...but the girl was not. This of course proved advantageous to young wyvern rider. After all, it wasn't fun to put a hurt person in more pain they could actually feel.

"I know that look Mel, what has you so worried?" Asked Shade as she glanced down at the younger girl with a curious gaze in her eyes. She had to admit she'd also grown fond of the girl throughout this entire mess, and she could easily see how her and Rueh had become such good friends.

Mel pouted in an absolutely dreadful way. She'd been thinking so hard about it, she just had to pout when asked. After all, it was still an incredible mystery to her. One which she had yet to solve, and maybe she never would, "Akuri's changed so much...he's barely talking.....and he has no expression on his face or in his voice....is making me worried...."

As if to give some kind of reassurance to Mel, Shade lightly nuzzled the girl with her long nose.
"I think that is just something that happened from when the Monte Cristo held you captive. But now that both of you are no longer trapped in that situation, I think he may start to show some emotion again. Don't give up on that just yet." She told Mel, which would lead anyone to believe that Shade was much more observant then she looked.

"I hope so."

She stared after her brother as he went on with his job of fixing up Rueh in a rather riggid manner. It was a little like he didn't want to restrain himself from emotions, but couldn't help but leave them out of the mix. Couldn't help but discard them entirely. It would be a long tie before her brother showed much ever again.

"Well trust me, if he stays around Rueh long enough that'll change. If they don't end up irritating the living hell out of each other." Said Shade with a wyvern equivalent of a smirk. Oh she knew how hard-headed and stubborn Rueh could be and it wasn't uncommon for her to get into conflicts thanks to that. Oh well at least that'd make things interesting for a while.

A giggle escaped Mel's lips, and she meerly smiled. If that case, then she really didn't need to worry. But still, it would always be there. After all, she remembered her childhood very well. Though they may have been theives for a long while, it was still a good time back then. Back when h was the kindest soul you'd ever meet....

Well it seemed for now all they could do was wait and see what happened next. Not only that but they couldn't really go anywhere with the way the storm was going on outside, but at least it had waited until now to start the downpour since they were all inside.

Eventually, Akuri finished working on Rueh's injuries, walking back over to his sister. Sitting down beside her, he slung an arm over her shoulder. The action calmed his thoughts, if only sligtly, so for now, this was good. He'd just stay like that for a while, knowing full well it made Mel smile.

"Owch........damn if I ever get my hands on him!!!" Rueh mentally cursed that commander to the lowest pit of hell available when she finally woke up and realized how sore she was from getting hit like she did. Needless to say it was not a pleasant feeling but she ignored it as she shoved herself up off the ground.

"Damn I hate when stuff like this happens." She muttered under her breath before glancing outside and seeing the rain. From the looks of it they were stuck in another storm again, but oh well. At least that would keep those Monte Cristo thugs away from here.

Mel stared for a moment and then smiled widely, slipping out from underneath Akuri's protective arm. Walking over she grinned at Rueh, "Your up!"

It was pretty happy thought in her mind. pparently her brother was good with medical things. That in itself was rather sueful knowledge she'd have to keep in mind for later. The older sibling watched them from afar. He still didn't completly trust these people, even having helped the girl named Rueh.

"Yeah well I don't stay out long that's for sure." Said Rueh as Mel sat down beside her.

"Oh I don't know maybe a well placed hit to that hard head of yours would knock you out cold for a while." Said Shade with another rather sneaky look, which earned her a glare from Rueh.

"Oh shut up Shade, you're one to talk when you're just as hot-headed." Rueh shot back and the wyvern just laughed to herself since she couldn't deny that to begin with.

Smiling the younger sibling giggled, and returned to her brother. He'd probably been waiting, for Akuri pulled her onto his lap, which earned him a smile from his sister. Even with that blank look he continued to wear, he was still the sweet older brother she used to know and love. Just with a harder outer shell....No longer child-like either...Mel smiled at Rueh, "You two are great partners."

"Well considering all the hell we've been through together that's no surprise." Said Shade with a smirk as she lowered her head so it was resting on Rueh's shoulder.

"Hey look I can't help it if I have a thing for getting into trouble, blame it on those thieveing friends of mine." Said Rueh in a teasing tone of voice as she stroked Shade.

"Hee hee, but that wouldn't be fair."

Mel was having fun. It was very clear on her face. Nemu especially noticed it, nuzzling her elongated head against the female's smaller one. If the younger girl was happy the wyvern was happy. The wyvern might be even happier if Akuri smiled everyonce and a while to....

"But I do kind of wonder what those idiots are doing now, probably getting into trouble again." Rueh said more to herself as she leaned against Shade, and only a few minutes later she had fallen asleep again. Like it or not she was still injured but hopefully it wouldn't take long before she healed.
However, Shade decided to take the moment to explain a little into what Rueh had been talking about a few minutes ago.

"In case you're wondering, Rueh was referring to her family back in Rividia. Or more specifically her adoptive family." Said the black colored wyvern, and if they wanted to know more about what she meant then they would have to ask themselvs.

An expression of wonderment crossed Mel's face, but it soon changed into a huge grin, "So, Rueh's from Rividia? Just like me and Akuri!"

Leaning against her brother's shoulder she spoke to him. He of course, listened all the while, "Remeber all that time back then? You used to go around theiving food for us both and some of the old folk!"

"I remember it...it was...better then these current days..."

He was grateful to have Nemu, but war was not his favorite choice for meeting the wyvern.

"Yes she is, but now that I think about it that brings up something else. Did either of you ever hear of a group of thieves known as the Dusk Bandits while you lived in Rividia?" Asked Shade as a curious expression showed on her face. If either of them knew who she was talking about then that would make her explanation much easier, but if they hadn't then she might have to give some background on things.

Surprisingly enough, Akuri answered before his sister could even get to it, "They helped me out once...so I know a little bit about them."

That was the first time he'd ever seen kindness from the people who could live by themselves without any help. In fact, as a young boy, the older brother had kind of admired them. Mel had met them as well, and made quick friends with one of the members upon bringing Akuri back to her. She of course had wanted to go with them when they asked, but Akuri had politely declined.Thats probably what caused this mess....

"Well believe it or not, they're the ones that found Rueh when she was living on the streets and allowed her to join their group. She's been one of them even long before we met, which I guess could explain why it was so easy for her to sneak into the Monte Cristo base earlier." Said Shade in reference to the first time she had attempted to get Mel away from them.

Nodding, Akuri spoke queitly in a short setence, "I see."

Then again, that couldn't possibly be considered a sentence. Well, either way, atleast it meant he heard her. Mel smiled at the mention of that particular group. She really had grown attached to one of the members. Though, when she thought about it now, maybe tat was why he brother had declined. Well, whatever the case, with he mentioning of them again, they'd probably meet again sometime soon.

"I wonder, how long it will be before she tells them." Shade thought to herself as she glanced down at her sleeping rider. She had told all that she would for now, the rest would have to come from Rueh herself.

Mel glanced up at Akuri's sleepy face and she smiled, purring slightly, "Brother...can we go see them again sometime..?"

He looked at her slowly and shook his head. It was unlikely they would meet again in his mind. For that matter, it was even more unlikely that, even with his new found tracking training, Akuri would find them. She'd just have to deal with not seeing that guy for a while longer. Especially if they all went and died.

"They're not dead if that's what you're wondering, and Rueh could take you to their base with little trouble. That is if you ever wish to go there for yourselves." Shade told Akuri while lying streached out on the floor. At first it looked like she had been asleep but in reality she was keeping an eye on things. Well at least until Rueh woke up again, and then they could trade off if necessary.

"We're not going to visit them."

That made Mel pout deeply. She couldn't understand why he declined anything to do with them. It was totally beyond her, especially when she was little. Jealousy? Hate? Depression? It really left her wondering about whether it was really an emotion that made him say those things...

"Alright, just making a suggestion." Said Shade and that was all she said on the subject. If there was one thing she was good at, it was keeping quiet about something when no one wanted to talk.

Eventually, Akuri fell asleep as well, and his sister watched his face carefully. It was rather cute to seehim like this with the fact he'd seemed so adamant about being tough and emotionless earlier. Although she had detected a hint of anger when he'd said they would not visit those theives.

"Okay okay yes I'm up." Came Rueh's sleep filled voice from next to Shade, and after a few seconds she shoved herself up off the ground and dusted the dirt from off her pants. Thankfully she had healed enough already that she could move around with little trouble, but she kept quiet at the same time so she wouldn't wake up Akuri by any chance.

Mel smiled as she watched Rueh get up. Shifting slightly in Akuri's tight, sleeping grip she spoke up, "Your awake again Rueh. Have any dreams?"

Well, her brother hadn't woken yet, even through her shifting and speaking up. This of course meant her brother was still a heavy sleeper. When they were little, to her, that used to mean, 'paint his face red while he's still sleeping'.

"Nothing really interesting if that's what you're wondering." Said Rueh with her trademark smirk before she grabbed her cloak from off the ground.
"Well I'm heading out for guard duty, I'll yell if anything happens." She said and before Mel could object Rueh had pulled the hood of her cloak up over her face and headed outside into the rain.

Watching her go, Mel pouted once more. Turning her chidlish face towards her brother, she wondered vaguely if there was any paint around. Maybe if she could paint up his face, when he noticed, he would get mad. That would mean she'd succeeded in making him feel some emotion. Unfortunatly, she had no red paint...

"Dang it how long can a rainstorm last?" Rueh thought to herself as she sat on a large rock just outside the cave. Already it was almost pitch black out here, seeing as night had fallen while she was out so she was stuck staring out into pure blackness. Although she failed to see the point in that because if anything came up then they would be right on top of them before she could catch them, but at least she was doing something and that had to count. Well in her opinion it did but when did her opinion ever matter for much?

By this time Mel herself had fallen asleep, her head rolling to rest on Akuri's shoulder. By now though, he'd already woken up. A small smile crossed his face at the look of her face and he nuzzled her hair gently. She was still the same old her. Moving carefully, he rested her against Nemu, "Watch her carefully..."

The wyvern nodded, placing her tail in front of Mel protectively while Akuri headed out to the front of the cave. Looking at Rueh, he spoke up, "Would you like to be relieved of duty?"

Rueh almost fell off the rock when she jumped at hearing someone speak up next to her, but she caught herself when she realized it was only Akuri.
"Actually I'm alright with staying out here a little longer, but if you want to join me then feel free." She said as she moved over so he could sit if he wanted to. By now the rain had cleared somewhat and it was no longer thundering, which meant that the storm had to be almost over. However, now Rueh was soaking wet from the rain but she didn't care. She'd been out in storms like this before so once more wasn't going to bother her much.

He only nodded quietly and moved to stand next to the rock without making a sound. His face was certainly the same as ever, emotionless and uncaring. It seemed like that was the expression that would stay etched on his face for a while to come. Another thing that seemed apparent was the fact he looked extremely used to this. Then again, that was to be expected by someone in the Monte Cristo at some point

"So I take it Shade told you a little about me?" Asked Rueh after some time of silence had passed. Even though she already guessed Shade had told them a few things, she was curious as to how much they had been told. Not that it bothered her because she didn't really have anything to hide anyway.

Not really all that responsive, but it was an answer. So unless she really wanted details from him, Akuri would remain as an attentive guard. An emotionless one at that. This kind of personaility probably wouldn't be easy to crack. But maybe someday it would. The question was, how long until that day? Could his litte sister put up with it long enough?

"Sheesh talk about emotionless." Rueh thought to herself but she could overlook that. After all from what she knew of the Monte Cristo, Akuri was lucky they hadn't driven him insane yet. So she could deal with it like anything else, since she had known her share of emotionless people in the past. Although now she'd already made up her mind that somehow she was going to crack down that wall he seemed to have around him, but how she was going to pull that off she had no idea.

Something seemed to catch the former Monte Cristo's eyes for he called out for his wyvern, "Nemu, come here."

The great beast walked out, being careful not to awaken Mel and stood next to him, spreading her wings. She gave him a curious look, and he only nodded towards a very tall mountain east of them. Climbing onto her back, he pointed and she beat the air with her wings, taking off in that direction.

Rueh was about to ask what Akuri had seen but she didn't get the chance since he and Nemu took off without saying a word to her or anyone else. Now she could have gone after them but that would have left Mel alone and she was not about to do that. So it looked like she was stuck here until they came back and decided to explain things.

Akuri took his spear from Nemu's claws and swung himself back onto her large back properly. Clutching the weapon within his strong hands, they stopped to hover above an area, slowly lowering so Akuri could get a better few out of the thing he'd seen. It was a dragon. Squinting his eyes, he realized he'd seen the thing swoop down to land at the mountains base, telling Nemu to lower herself further, the wyvern did just that. Soon he could see everything that was going on down on the ground, and several people stood in a circle conversing about something. The dragon appeared to be their form of transport, "Go back Nemu. We must report."

"Something's here, but I can't tell if it's hostile or not." Said Shade as she stepped out and stood near Rueh.

"What do you mean Shade?" Asked Rueh but right after she asked that they both spotted Nemu heading back in their direction. So it looked as if either way Rueh was going to get some kind of answer to her question.

Nemu landed swiftly, Akuri dismounting just as quick. Handing the spear to his wyvern, he walked near to Rueh. The emotionless face remained as he spoke, sort of like a soldier really, "Several people and a dragon landed east of here. What do you make of it?"

Depending on the answer he was given, Akuri would decide whether or not he would need to pick up the spear again. If he did need it, the boy would not hesitate.

"Were you able to tell whether they were looking for something or not?" Asked Shade and Rueh easily caught on to what Shade was doing. If it looked as if these people were searching for something up here, then chances were they could be hostile if they found them. However if that wasn't the case then they may still be safe for the time being.

He looked down, "I'm not sure. They seemed to be discussing something. Other then that I couldn't tell."

Nemu rested her head on his shoulder. It was kind of like she was telling him he wasn't perfect, so it was alright if he missed something. Of course, the older siblings seemed to understand and nodded, stroking the wyvern's long nose. Nothing on his face coul tell anyone that he was ashamed of not being able to tell, so it meant Nemu and Akuri's bond as strong.

"Hey it's no big deal, we'll just have to keep our eyes open and make sure they don't figure out we're here. That is at least until we figure out what these people are doing here." Said Rueh, and it would probably catch them all a little off guard that she was able to catch on to how Akuri probably felt right then. For some reason despite his emotionless look, he was still fairly easy for her to read now that she'd been around him longer but how she could pull that off was anyone's guess.

At her words, Akuri flinched, a glare almost automatically controling his features. It dissapeared in half a second though as he controlled his emotions just as quickly as they'd been brought on. It was almost as though he didn't like being read by those he barely knew. Akuri soon nodded though and headed back out with Nemu, "I'm going out to spy on them."

((He cracked slightly! It was just for a second, but he did *points at Akuri accusingly*))

"Hold up a sec!" Called out Rueh as she raced up to Nemu before they could take off. However what she said next was probably going to really catch Akuri off guard.
"Be careful alright? There's no telling what these people are doing out here." She told him before she moved back to stand beside Shade.

He stared at her for a moment, but then turned his gaze away quickly, hopping onto the wyverns back. Akuri was heading out for only one reason. Find out why these people were here. Or at least who they were. That was the least he could figure out now.

"Darn you think that would have gotten some reaction out of him." Rueh said under her breath but that didn't stop that rather mischevious smile from showing on her face. Then again she had been serious when she told him to be careful, cause she knew it would hurt Mel if something happened to him. Needless to say it was an understatment to say that Rueh was rather protective over her friend, she just had a different way of showing it most of the time.

Well, even though he said he was going to spy, this was the exact opposite. Lance in hand, he balanced himself on the bridge of Nemu's neck, the wyvern clutching the rocky mountain side with her claws, tail swishing back and forth in the air. Positioning her neck so that Akuri would not fall to the ground from this precarious position, she let out a roar. This quickly caught the attention of the dragon and the people below them. Akuri pointed his lance towards them, speaking in a threatening monotone, "Who are you?!"

"Well seems they weren't going for the silent approach." Said Shade when she heard the loud roar, but for some reason that did not surprise her. Neither Nemu or Akuri seemed like the type to use the sneak attack route, but oh well that was there choice. As long as they didn't go and get themselves killed in the process.

A c.ocky reply came his way and it seemed to be coming from the runt of the group. He probably wasn't the leader, but he ran his mouth like he might have been, "Think yer awful tough don't ya? I think 'ta better question is, who are you?"

Akuri almost glared again but sat on Nemu's neck and took it easy. Making sure his spear was still pointed towards them, he hissed slightly, "Who I am is no concern of yours. I'll ask once more, who are you?"

((I think we've run into a certain group of bandits...))

"You know you keep running your mouth off like that and you're gonna get yourself beat up one of these days."

That had come from none other then Rueh as she and Mel sat on Shade's back. They had snuck after Akuri when they all heard Nemu's roar, and thanks to Shade having the ability to camoflauge herself and others no one would have seen them if they didn't want to be seen. However once Rueh recognized the group there was no need to stay hidden.

Well, seeing as Rueh appered to know them, he would retract his spear for now. Nemu took it into her claws as he sat back, now ignoring the ones below. It wasn't like he needed to go any further after all. The runt stared at Rueh in surprise, but then a smirk captured his features. He laughed loudly, "Am I now? So, what are ya doin' with a Monte Cristo brat anyways?"

Mel scowled at the name, as she'd woken up of course, but ignored it. For now anyways.

Rueh just rolled her eyes at that before climbing down off Shade once they had landed.
"Well first off he's not with the Monte Cristo, and as for what we're doing out here well we're trying not to get caught. If you catch what I mean." She said with a mischevious smirk and she knew they'd catch on easily.

"Oh I get s'right. Them spicy tuna's after ya? Whatcha do?"

By spicy tuna, he of course meant meant the Monte Cristo. Whoever this kid was, he had a lot of spunk. And a really weird way of speaking. Mel to climbed off of Shade and went over to where her brother was on the mountain side. Waving him down, Nemu lowered her head so Akuri could slide down to her. He did just tha and listened to her words as she spoke, "I think I know who they are Akuri."

"Oh you know the usual. Busted into their base and hit them where it hurt. The traitor just lost his leverage." Said Rueh with a shrug of her shoulders as she pointed over her shoulder to Mel. They had all known about her being a Monte Cristo prisoner but they lacked the rest of the details. As for that well she'd only tell as much as Akuri wanted them to know. Also the traitor she was referring to was that same commander that had almost killed her, but that was another story altogether.

Akuri stared at her face and waited for her thoughts. Of course, both were listening to the other conversation, but not with any particular liking for the topic. She smiled widely, "Its the bandits we met when we were little."

He stared at her blankly for a few seconds. Looking up at the group, he stared blankly for a few moments before looking down at Mell again. Apparently the fact was a bit too much for him to handle, because he was wishing he'd realized it as soon as she had."Hmph..."

The runt hissed, "I see..." He looked over to Mel after hearing her words, "So we know you two?"

"Hey I promise they're good." Said Rueh as she playfully ruffled Mel's hair and shot a smile in Akuri's direction. Hey if she trusted them then that had to say something because Rueh was a very good judge of people. Although she didn't elaborate on how that was possible.

"But anyway what are you guys doing out this way? Something happen back at HQ?" She asked as she turned her gaze back on the shorter thief.

Noticing the look he'd been given he ignored it and turned his attentions to the runt of the group. After all it was his turn to talk now. The short theif gave a grunt, glaring at a random tree, "Ta boss got em self in a tight zich. He sent us off, and e've just recently reached this place. Course your spicy tuna over there already knew that part."

Akuri was getting erked at the nickname, but he was ignoring it for now. After all, his little sister was in front of him.

"Don't tell me the boss went and pissed off the wrong person again?" Said Rueh with a slightly irritated sigh. If there was one thing their boss was good for it was getting into more trouble, and it looked like the Monte Cristo were involved somehow. Although Rueh almost hated to ask what exactly had happened in the first place.


((Well I got to thinking that since that Commander guy, who I would really love to see get beaten up, was suppose to be the traitor out of this group of thieves right? So what if there was more going on between him and Rueh then she originally tells. Not like a love thing, maybe they were related or close friends or something like that and that could have been one of her reasons for helping Mel and Akuri get out of the Monte Cristo. Kind of like she didn't want them to get hit with the same thing she did, and am I making any sense?))

Ruffling his hair out of irritation, the short boy grumbled, "Yea, he pissed of some noble pup. Stole some 'tuff dat woulda been better off left alone."

And boy had the noble been pissed. A little gold here, a dragon there, some knight armor, the royal sword...Seriously, the guy was to uptight about all that stuff. Or at least, that was what the boss had probably been thinking at the time.

"Ah jeez, why does that not surprise me." Said Rueh and she had all ideas that meant more trouble for them until things cooled down. Which could take a while depending on how mad this noble had been to begin with, and from the sounds of it he'd been beyond furious.

A laugh came out of short theif's mouth. He looked at the dragon and grinned, "Well, 'least he got us some snazy form o' transport. This dragon's got its uses."

Patting it side he jolted a way when it growled. Apparently the beast did not appreciate petting. Maybe it wasn't his mouth that'd kill him after all. The theif seemed perfectly capable of dieing because of his hands.

"And from the sounds of it you're lucky that dragon hasn't snapped your hand off yet, or worse." Said Rueh with a smug smirk before she walked up to the huge dragon to get a closer look. At the same time she kept her stance as non-threatening as possible so it would know that she wasn't going to attack or anything like that. Having been with Shade as long as she had she knew a thing or two about how dragons thought, mainly because they were similar to wyverns in that respect.

He just turned his head with a small 'hmph' and shut up. The short theif wasn't good with animals. Especially not large, winged ones. They just didn't like him. Mel giggled, this was certainly an amusing event. Akuri looked down at her and then hopped back onto Nemu's back, "Should we leave soon...?"

"Hey you two aren't running off on me are you?" Asked Rueh when she saw Akuri climb up on Nemu's back. Not only was she uneasy with them leaving, but she rather liked the two of them and hated to see them disappear on her again.

"No..just wondering if we should head back."

He was speaking soldier again. Or at least, he was trying not to, but was. At this point Mel had climbed up onto Nemu just incase her brother took off. She didn't want that to happen. Not liek he'd leave without her that is.

"Yeah I guess so, hey are you guys going to be hanging around here for a while?" Asked Rueh as she glanced at the group of thieves. If they were going to be here for a while then that would give them more eyes to keep a lookout, at least it'd give them a better chance of catching trouble before it caught them off guard.

The short theif nodded, grinning, "Yea, we will. Got nothin' better ta do till boss gets back."

Oh yes, they'd definatly be here. God knows when the boss would get here anyways. The guy not only didn't have a sense of direction, he took forever when toying with the enemy. For that matter, eh was dealing with an eraged noble this time.

"Well would you guys mind keeping a lookout for any of those Monte Cristo idiots? We're on the lookout to but this way it'll be easier to run for cover if there are more eyes watching." Asked Rueh and hopefully they wouldn't mind helping them out. After all they all disliked the Monte Cristo so what better way to get the advantage then to have everyone on guard against them.

The runt gave a thumbs up and a grin, "Well o' course we will. Don't worry 'bout a thing. E're great lookouts."

They dissapeared into the mountain wood after that with the dragon. Obviously the group were trying to keep a low profile themselves. Otherwise thy'd have probably stayed put. With that as his cue, Akuri told Nemu to head back. Pushing on the air with her great wings she headed off.

"Thanks guys I owe you one!" Rueh called out after the thieves as she gave them a quick wave before they disappeared. Once they were out of sight she climbed back up on Shade's back and headed towards the cave right beside Nemu.

They soon landed and Nemu laided herself down carefully, allowing the siblings to get down from her back. Making their way into the cave, Mel looked up at her brother, "Akuri....can I go visit them?"

By them, he knew she meant that she wanted to go and find that boy she'd met so long ago. Akuri himself knew the boy was not among them right then. That boy was had emerald hair, unlike the other theives. She however probably couldn't remember him if she wanted to go visit. Nevertheless his response remained as , "No, Mel."

By then Shade and Rueh had joined them, but the two of them were caught up in their own conversation. However, from the way it looked they were arguing somewhat over whatever they were talking about.
"You know they're going to find out eventually." Said Shade as she glanced down at Rueh with a knowing look in her eyes.
"Maybe so but that doesn't mean I have to tell everything now, better to leave that lying where it is." Rueh shot back as she glared up at Shade. That wyvern was coming very close to bringing up an old memory that she didn't want to remember, and in her opinion it was better to leave it locked away like it was.

((And yes they are discussing the eventual twist we decided to throw in. LOL!))

Of course, the two didn't seem to notice. Well, Akuri did, but Mel was completly focused on him. Giving her older brother a deep pout, she looked up to him, "Oh pleaseee....? Why not?"

He shook his head, face remaining expressionless. There was no way he was giving in. Not yet, especially when she might end up dissapointed. Or worse, heartbroken or something, "No. Your not changing my mind Mel."

Once she saw the pout on Mel's face, Rueh had to quickly look away to hide the smirk on her face. She could tell it wasn't easy for Akuri to resist that look, despite his usual emotionless look.

"Boy does that remind me of something." Rueh thought to herself, but that was the only thing she said about the past for now.

Crying crocodile tears she'd use to make the more sympathetic of Monte Cristo give her good food, she frowned even deeper. Maybe it wouldn't work on Akuri anymore, but there was still a chance. Even if it was a slimmer then usual one, "B-but why...? T-their n-not bad people...!"

He contined to shake his head, "There's no reason you shouldn't have already figured out. No means no Mel."

Rueh was about to walk over to Mel but something suddenly stopped her. Without telling anyone she quickly raced out of the cave and climbed up to a nearby cliff so she would have a better view of the area.

"What was that just now?" She thought to herself. She couldn't shake the sudden sense of danger that was shooting through her like electricity, but at the same time she couldn't seen anything threatening nearby. That alone had her edgy, because her sixth sense thing was rarely wrong.

Akuri watched her go, a stern look about his face. He to had noticed what she had, but not as well. After all, the 'spicy tuna' had been focused on his sister. Half tempted to go and follow her he meerly decided on walking over to Nemu. Mel looked at him confused but did not speak. Obviously something made him want his spear as he'd taken it from her claws.

"Shade stay there with Akuri and Nemu, I'm going to do some investigating." Rueh told Shade, and she could sense her agreement while she continued climbing higher up the mountain side. She didn't know why but something was almost calling to her, and she needed to find out what it was. However she was prepared for anything as both her guns were still on her and ready for use should they be needed.

Picking up a sharp rock, he grinded his spear tip against it, sharpening the weapon. He vaguely wondered if Rueh would need some help. Then again, the girl had outsmarted the Monte Cristo, so maybe not. Placing the spear back in Nemu's great claws, he returned to his sister. Mel frowned again, "Whats going on?

"Okay I know you're out here so cut with the hiding!" Rueh called out as she held her guns in her hand while glancing around at the area she was currently standing. She knew someone was there, but where she could not pinpoint and that had her edgy. However she didn't let that show as she looked around for any sign of whoever it was out there.

Akuri stared at her, unsure of how to answer. Pulling her down onto his lap as he sat down himself, he stroked her head kindly. He didn't respond to her, just continued to show his little sister affection. In a way, that frightened her, but it also made her happy that he was showing anything.

After a few minutes, Rueh lowered her guns but she still had a miffed expression on her face. She knew what she had felt hadn't been imagined, but what had caused it? Now she was beyond confused and that really really irritated her.

A dark, cloaked figure sauntered out from the bushes behind Rueh, and chilling voice sounding, "So you came..?"

The figure smirked under the dark of their cloak. There a temptation to laugh in that tone of voice, as well as a silent mocking. It was almost clear that this may have been the source.

Rueh whirled around while pointing her guns straight at the cloaked figure.
"Alright who are you and what do you want?" She demanded as she glared at this newcomer with a rather evil look on her face.

This time a velvet laugh rang through the air, and cold, pale hands reached out to the hood, pulling it down. Longish, jet black hair, crimson eyes, and mocking smirk were revealed on the handsome face of the man across from Rueh, "What do I want..? Oh nothing child. Nothing at all."

"Okay definitely creepy." Rueh thought to herself as she kept her guns aimed at him, but apparently his answer confused her somewhat.
"If you don't want anything, then why the hell am I here?" She demanded. He had to have a reason for dragging her up here, but she had no idea as to what that reason was.

A second after she said those words he was in front of her. Placing his hand gently on the side of her face, barely touching her, he smiled in a somewhat evil way. Her words must have amused him for a dark chuckle slipped through his lips, "Your here because I wanted you to be. Your here...because you have to be. Your here, because my plan would not work if you weren't."

Needless to say Rueh did not like him being that close and she quickly jumped back away from him.
"What do you mean by that?" She said as she kept her distance from him. She certainly didn't like the direction this conversation was going, especially the whole his plan not working without her thing.

He meerly smiled and stepped back into the shadows. Dissapearing, his voice echod throughout the forested area, "It wouldn't be fun if I told you that now would it?"

Back at the cave Akuri had mounted Nemu upon sensing something was horribly wrong. Taking his spear from her claws, she whipped the air with her wings and flew out. Upon doing so though the older brother discovered Monte Cristo wyvern riders were waiting fo them outside, "Damnit!"

"Damn where did they come from?!" Said Rueh as she raced back down to the cave. True what that man had said had her uneasy but once she saw all the Monte Cristo riders approaching well that past conversation was shoved to the back of her mind.

Akuri had already begun to deal with the slew of Monte Cristo. Though just one wyvern rider wasn't enough to take out this many skilled riders. His spear wasn't enough it seemed and Akuri had nearly been knocked off Nemu 3 times now. Being in the center of the enemies formation was definatly a plan without tact.

However, a few blasts of energy shot through the air taking out several Monte Cristo with that one hit.

"You alright Akuri?" Called out Rueh from where she was standing on Shade's back, and the two had quickly caught up to Nemu before even more fighting broke out.

He gave her a quick nod, "I'm fine. Thank you."

He chucked his spear into a wyvern's side, Nemu quickly fetching it with her claws and tossing it back. Clamping her jaws around the rider, she chucked him off, letting the human plummet to the ground. There was no guilt felt here. Akuri had been trained not to feel it. So, stabbing a spear through aother rider, he continued on.

At the same time Rueh was picking off riders one by one with her guns. Apparently she felt just as guiltless about killing Monte Cristo members as Akuri, but then again she'd spent much of her life learning how to kill when necessary. True she may not like it but in a case like this it was definitely necessary, so she surpressed her dislike and continued on fighting.

There was a lucky soldier among the ranks. The boy had managed to impale Akuri's arm, but the lad, probably no older then 15, was killed instantly by a stab of his spear. Ripping out the Monte Cristo's weapon, he chucked it from himself and Nemu. Roaring in response to his wound, startling several soliders at the sametime, she ripped through three close by wyvern riders with her claws.

"Where's he at I know he's here somewhere!" Rueh thought to herself as she continued shooting at riders while looking for any sign of either the commander or that creepy guy she had seen earlier. Either one she knew she would aim for without hesitation, but the real question was were they there and if so where were they?

Neither were around though. So, Rueh could probably determine for herself whether that was good or bad. Eventually, the numbers of the Monte Cristo thinned out until there was only three or four left. Akuri slashed at the remaining riders and headed back. His shoulder would need tending to.

"Damn, figures they wouldn't show up." Rueh hissed under her breath before she placed her guns back on her belt and let Shade fly back down to the cave. At least they'd managed to get rid of a large part of the Monte Cristo's wyvern riders, and that would certainly put a slight strain on them in the long run.

Sliding off Nemu's back, the older brother leaned against the wyvern's side for support. He didn't want to strain himself more then needed. Upon noticing her brother Mel rushed, over touching his shoulder lightly, "Akuri! What did you do..?!"

"Lets just say we got caught in a fight on our way in." Said Rueh once she had jumped down from Shade's back. However she didn't elaborate more then that as she saw no reason to do so.

Mel frowned deeply. Her brother had gotten into a fight? It must've been the Monte Cristo but... Akuri was a great fighter now, she could feel it. She held his arm lightly, making sure not to touch the shoulder wound, "We should patch it up real soon!"

"I'll be outside keeping a lookout, if you need me just yell." Said Rueh and before anyone could object she had raced outside. She couldn't figure out why but something about what that man had said earlier really creeped her out, mainly because she couldn't shake the feeling that she should know him from somewhere. However he didn't look familiar, so why was she feeling like this to begin with.
This had her way confused and she really needed to think this out, and the best way to do that was to get outside away from everyone. At least this way she was standing guard as well so this served a dual purpose.
