Chapter 1
Check the Snake

“You’re useless.” A female voice mumbled, pulling her sword out of the pale man’s body. She had a bite wound on her neck from his teeth, but the curse mark had dissolved as the man died.
“You can’t even fetch me a simple Uchiha.” She wiped her blade off with a cloth, tossing it behind her toward the limp body of Orochimaru.
“You can keep that.” Her sword was placed back into its sheath on her back and she walked out, leaving the darkened cave. She stood out on the ledge, her black hair blowing out in the wind. Her eyes were covered with a blood red cloth.
She pulled a whistle from her bag and gave it a blow. No sound came out of it. She smiled, placed the whistle back into her bag and jumped down from the ledge.

“We have reports that Orochimaru is dead.” Sandaime said, leaning forward on his hands. In front of him, Sakura, Naruto, Sasuke, and of course Kakashi, stood there. The mark on Sasuke’s neck had vanished.
“We need you to go to Koi cave and check this statement.” Of course, he usually wouldn’t send such a new teams, but all the others were busy.
“I warn you, this is a very dangerous mission.” If he wasn’t dead, they’d probably be dead. He was silent for a few moments. “But, I suppose it can’t be helped.”
The three nodded. “Hai.”

“So. . . This is it?” The blonde asked, looking around the cave. It didn’t look like much and it was dark and pretty hard to see. He shivered as he thought he saw something pass him. Suddenly, Kakashi grabbed the back of his jacket and pulled him out of the way of fire.
Several kunai buried themselves where he had been standing moments before.
“Who are you?” The older man called, looking around for the figure. Where’d she go? She was there a moment ago. He blinked, and she wasn’t there anymore.
“Why are you in my cave?” A voice sounded behind them. Sakura, who was closest to the voice, jumped. She clung to Sasuke quickly. When no answer came, the voice sounded again.
“Why are you in my cave?” There stood a green haired figure. She had long hair that touched her ankles and wore baggy pants and a t shirt much too large for her. She didn’t seem to be armed. But then again, she had thrown the kunai.
“We’re here to look for Orochimaru.” Kakashi finally answered. “Who are you?” Now he wanted his question answered.
“Aka Shikyo.” Well, they all knew the meaning of that. Bloody Death. She continued, to speak. None dared to interrupt her. They weren’t quiet sure how dangerous she was. “And Orochimaru is dead.”
And with that, she tucked a stand of her hair behind her ear and vanished. She reappeared moments late. She was holding the pale, limp body by the back of his shirt.
“You killed him?” She nodded. “I did.” Kakashi gave a soft sigh. Well then, she must be on their side. No?
“You’ll have to come back with us and explain what happened.” Aka tilted her head to one side, her hair falling over.
“Very well.” She responded. Sakura, who had been dispatched from Sasuke after a few moments of struggling, gave a heavy huff. She had more hair than her. And who knew what was under that sweater. She was going to steal Sasuke from her! Well, she thought everyone was going to steal Sasuke from her.

“So you killed Orochimaru?” Aka nodded again. Yes! Yes! Yes! For the hundredth time yes! How many times did he have to explain that? Sandaime, once again leaning on his hands, gave a soft nod in response. That seemed very unlike.
Such a young girl killing someone like Orochimaru? It seemed practically impossible.
“What village are you from?” He had to ask. That could possibly explain how she did it, or how she lied about it.
“I don’t have a village. My parents died when I was born. My mother giving birth and my father by Orochimaru. I was raised by wolves.” As unbelievable as it sounded, it was true. Sandaime gave her a look. That look that said ‘you’ve gone too far’.
Aka sighed. Of course. She figured that. She pulled the rim of her sweatshirt up, slipping it over her head and dropping it to the floor. The shirt underneath had a furry innering. To keep her warm in the dark caves, most likely. That came off too.
Sandaime adverted his eyes away for a moment. Then back again. Well, she must have done it for a reason, right? The first thing he noticed was the scars. A lot of scars. Most of them were bite marks. That didn’t explain anything. So she got into a fight with a wolf? However, that wasn’t what she was showing him.
In the middle of her chest, there was a bran mark. Of course. Eventually, all animals in the forest were braned. Not by them, but by the people that lived in the forest for special purposes. She must have been marked on accident.
Before he could say anything about it, Naruto opened his mouth. Again.
“You’re flat chested!” And, though she’d never say it out loud, Sakura was thinking the same thing.
“So are you?” Aka pointed out, looking toward Naruto.
“I’m a guy.” He commented as if he were so smart for noticing.
“So am I.” The rooms vibe went from curious to embarrassed. Truthfully, they had all thought Aka was a female. Sakura, however, seemed the most embarrassed. She was jealous over a guy who happened to have longer hair than her.
Sandaime rubbed the bridge of his nose with his index finger. At least they hadn’t called him a girl. Then an apology would be in order. However, he hadn’t made that mistake, luckily.
For once, he was grateful to Naruto. Even if the way he found out was rude.
“Oh.” Naruto mouthed, He backed away behind Kakashi, his face flushing pink. Sasuke, though he didn’t seem physically affected, was also slightly embarrassed at himself, for, at one point, something in the back of his mind had hummed ‘here hair’s nice’. Of course, he’d brushed it away. But still, he should have known, of all people.
Aka glanced around at the others, sensing the sudden change of vibe.
“What’s wrong?” Was it his scars?
“N-nothing.” Sandaime mumbled before looking back toward her from his desk.
“It’s nothing.” He repeated unknowingly. Quickly, he moved on. “And by that mark, I say you’re telling the truth.” He said, motioning him he could redress.
“I suppose, since you don’t have a village, you may stay here.” He added as Aka pulled his shirt back on. He didn’t put his sweater back on, thou. It was too hot here. He also removed the furry layer from his shirt.
“Thank you.” He mumbled, curling a piece of his hair behind his ear. Sandaime was silent once more. Now where could he stay? Sakura’s parents wouldn’t be too happy about having ‘Bloody Death’ in their home. Naruto would drive him nuts. If he could kill Orochimaru he could kill Naruto. He sighed.
“You can stay with Sasuke until we know if you’re stay is permeated or not.” Aka glanced back at the four. That didn’t help him. Which one was Sasuke? Naruto pointed to the raven haired boy. Aka sighed. Of course.
“Very well.” He nodded. Sasuke also gave a nod. If he had to. He didn’t fancy sharing his home with another, but he didn’t have much of a choice, did he? He didn’t have to wonder why he wasn’t sharing with Sakura or Naruto. They were both annoying. And Kakashi was a pervert. Who knew what he had laying around the house.

Sasuke lead the green haired male to his home and unlocked the door. He didn’t say anything the whole way there. Nor did he say much when they got there. “Bathroom’s at the end of the hall. You can sleep in the bedroom upstairs. It’s empty, besides a bed and a dresser.”
Aka looked around. It was pretty big for someone who lived alone. Once the door shut, a fluffy tail unrolled itself from behind him. Sasuke stared at him blankly for a moment. Tail? Two darkly colored eats poked out from his head. Ears?
“What are you staring at?” Aka mumbled, giving him a slight glare.
“No wonder you were mistaken for a wolf.” He answered. He was blunt, what else was he suppose to stay?
“My father was a wolf.” Sasuke shivered. That was an image he didn’t need. Aka’s tail moved back and forth, as if he were getting ready to attack the other. However, he didn’t. Instead, he headed up the stairs. A nap, then a bath.

Well, it wasn’t entirely bad. Aka was quiet at least. Sasuke leaned on the counter, eating an apple. He hadn’t heard a noise from the half wolf boy since he disappeared upstairs. At this point, he wasn’t sure whether he was sleeping or just plain quiet.
He tossed the apple core into the trash and headed for the bathroom. A quick wash up before bed. Like usual.
He struggled with the door for a moment. It was stuck. It didn’t take long to ply it open. He mumbled to himself, stepping into the bathroom. His face flustered pink. Once more, embarrassed.
Aka was laying in the bathtub, his head under the water so only his face was above water. Which explained why he hadn’t heard Sasuke coming in. The oddly colored green hair covered the top of the water, covering him.
And for that, Sasuke was grateful. He attempted to slip out the bathroom before he was noticed. However, that didn’t work. Aka sat up, running his hands through his hair. Sasuke remained perfectly still. Maybe he couldn’t see him. He read something about wolves not being able to see things that didn’t move.
He watched Aka detangle his hair and put it into braids. That was probably how his kept his hair looking so good. He hadn’t even noticed Sasuke, yet. His ears flickered back and forth, causing water to go flying. His tail hung out the side of the tube, wetting the floor.

Now was his chance to slip out before he was seen. Sasuke moved over a little. At once, Aka’s ears straightened out and perked up. He looked over toward Sasuke and the raven haired boy’s heart jumped.
“What are you doing?” Aka asked, looking slightly curious. Sasuke couldn’t understand why he wasn’t mad that he was in the bathroom. While he was taking a bath. He looked toward his ears. That explained it
Aka was part wolf. They didn’t wear cloths. So he was probably used to being seen naked. Which brought up the question, where did Aka get his clothes? And even more so, why was he dressed when they found him? Which trigged another question, where’d he get kunai’s from?
“Hello?” Sasuke blinked, pulling himself out of his head. He’d answer those questions later. He was rather cool and collected, but it wasn’t everyday that you saw a naked wolf boy in your bath tube. If anyone heard about this, he’d be a laughing stock.
At least no one had to know about this. It was between him and Aka.
“Uh. I was going to wash up and go to bed?” Aka gave a nod and went back to braiding his hair. Alright, he was really weird. Sasuke couldn’t think of any other word to describe him.
He walked over to the sink, keeping an eye on Aka as if he were suddenly going to change his mind and attack him for being in the bathroom. However, he didn’t. He barely glanced in his direction.
Sasuke wet his rag and quickly washed his face, neck, and arms. His eyes stayed attached to Aka. So the door wasn’t stuck. It was locked. Well, he just busted the lock on his door. Once he finished, he quickly slipped out of the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
Great. Now he had to knock before entering any room in his own home.

Aka glanced toward the door as Sasuke left. What a weirdo. He finished braiding his hair and got out of the tub of water. He shook himself off, wetting the entire bathroom before wrapping a towel around his waist. He held it up with his tail. He headed out of the bathroom and back up the stairs to his room.
On the bed, he had his cloths which he’d just taken off and his bag. Nothing seemed to be missing. Yet. He didn’t trust Sasuke too much. He placed his things aside, looking at his reflection on the dresser’s mirror. On the dresser top sat a white t shirt, several times too big.
He sighed. Well fine. If he had to sleep dressed. He had no doubt the Uchiha had place it there. After pulling on his boxers, tail swishing around happily, he pulled the shirt over his head and crawled into the white sheeted bed. He curled up into a ball, his head resting on his thigh, and drifted off into sleep.
