Fern Tucker was someone the world knew nothing about. Martel Tucker, however, was known. The British government sought after him. He was on their top ten most wanted list. They never had enough information to pin him to a string of murders and military crimes so they kept track of where he lived.
A government funded project used average teenagers to talk to other people. It was in this way that the British government got a hold of a person called Guncarrier. Something about the person sparked an interest, so they kept an eye on them. After months of trying to get the person to talk, their hard work payed off. Guncarrier's real name was Ashlyn Tucker. She said her father's name was Martel Tucker.
This sent warning bells off in the government's mind. They went to check that Martel was still living where he was supposed to. According to Ashlyn, she and twenty-five other children lived deep within Red Rose Forest.
Martel dreamed of a army that didn't question orders and were perfect at what it did. He was dishonorably discharged from the military for trying to put his ideas into practice, but it didn't stop him. He took his wife and fled to Red Rose Forest setting up the beginning of his future empire. Three months later when his wife gave birth to a set of twins, he got rid of the oldest a son, so he wouldn't be a threat to his empire when he grew up. He kept the small girl.
At the age of four, Ashlyn watched her father beat her mother to death because she hand angered her father. From that point on Ashlyn went by Fern. Martel started kidnapping younh children and raising them along with his daughter to be fighting machines.
For twelve years this went on. When Martel was on a field mission, meaning to collect for kids, he sent all of the kids on a mission on field thirteen. The hardest one there was. It killed twenty-five of them including a eleven year old boy named Trevor who was close to Fern's heart.
She'd finally had enough and told the person she'd been talking to on the computer everything. It so happened that the person she had been talking to was her own twin, but neither of them know that, and another Trevor's older brother.
When her father returned, he had with him a group of teenagers, something he had never done. Three females and two males. He told her they were getting true training and then they were going to go in and destory London. Fern deemed this impossible but she didn't voice her options as she secretly planned her escape. Even as the governmentr planned to send in their own spys and agents to arrest Martel and rescue the children.

(Hope this is the sort of character you were looking for.)
Username: Guendolen_Sama
Character Name: Gwyneth Rafferty
Age: 17
Character Position: Girl 1
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 128
Personality: On some level, Gwyneth feels out of step with the world she lives in. She looks about her, and all around are people who just don’t look past their noses. Especially all those her own age. And then there are those who assume she’s just the same way, just because she’s young; something she very much resents. That means she’s got a bit of a prickly side. It just feels like people assume because she’s young, she doesn’t think; and when she does think, they want to push her down the road to conformity and conservatism, doing the same things everyone else does and has done, just because it’s what always has been done, and because she “shouldn‘t waste her good mind.” Gwyneth, on the other hand, wants to do things her own way. Even if it’s a bit unorthodox or unconventional, not neatly falling into line. A rebel who hasn’t yet homed in on her cause.
Bio: Gwyneth grew up in Little Hampton, a small town a ways from London. And yes, little indeed it was. A quiet country place; not a village, it had enough built up to go beyond that, but it was still one of those small places where everyone knows everyone else. And tends to all tread the same path, of small jobs and small businesses and little families all clustering in the same surrounding environs.
Gwyneth knew from a young age that she didn’t want this life. She’s not entirely certain what she wants, yet. Her family tries to nudge her in one direction or another; politics, perhaps, if she speaks of the world today, or maybe owning her own business. But that’s all too staid, too conservative. She knows whatever she does, it’s going to be in a big way. In the meantime, she defies convention in small ways; dressing in wacky color combinations, experimenting with fashion, and playing video games. In a world where those are the province of early-adolescent schoolboys, that makes many people roll their eyes in chagrin. But to Gwyneth, it’s something different and colorful, by which she bides her time until something big happens.
Well, something big has happened, and as a matter of fact that’s what she was biding her time with. She was in the one small local arcade, playing a first-person shooter game. It was a favorite of hers, and one she tended to rack up a big score on. After a while, she noticed a strange man watching her. He was a stranger, unique in her small town, but she figured he was just a visitor, someone’s relative or old friend, who had been wandering the town and, like everyone else, thought it was weird to see a teenage girl playing an arcade game geared towards those with less estrogen and more testosterone. Or rather, budding testosterone, anyway.
It was dark by the time Gwyneth left the arcade. Sure, she heard about it when she came home late, but in a small town like this there was hardly danger, now was there? The most you might meet was a stray dog- hardly worth worrying about getting home when the sun was still up for. Well, except for tonight. There were some ill-lit lanes on the way, and that was where she was abducted for this “training project.” They had to knock her out because she struggled and shouted so much; coming to, she found out she had essentially been press-ganged. And life had gotten bigger in a major way…. But defiant of authority or not, Gwyneth has no wish to be a terrorist. She’s biding her time for now, but her mind is working as she tries to come up with a means of getting out of this.

Username: Caine-Ghest128
Character Name: Hale Shepard
Age: 17
Character Position: Boy Two
Height: 6'4"
Weight:174
Personality: Hale tends to be a quiet person, talking only when needing to speak up. He has a small temper problem with stupid and ignorant people, but it is something he can't help being a profound person who often zones out when thinking about the world and why he is who he is.
Bio: You could say that he was forced to join Martel, or that he forced Martel to take him; Regardless of how you tell the tale it is still the same thing in the end, he is a part of Martel's growing army. His past isn't something he is fond of, nothing truly shocking or exceedingly boring about it, his past was just plain. He lacked a lot of social interactions with people turning him into a thinker then a talker. When he was found by Martel he didn't put up much of a fuss over it, he saw it as a way to have something more to do in his life than just sit around all day and do nothing.

Character Name: Lyn Davidson
Age: 17
Character Position: Girl 2
Height: 5’
Weight: 115
Personality: Lyn has always been of a rather quiet and peaceful nature. She’s usually against fighting and violence and thinks it’s all rather pointless. She spends most of her time day dreaming of doing something different with her life, and often gets her mind stuck in her fantasies. She only really opens up to those she trusts and is loyal to those she cares about.
Bio: Lyn is the second oldest of 6 children. She didn’t really have a place in her house to get away to when she wanted to be alone, so she’d often go out for walks in the evening to escape the stresses of dealing with her siblings.
It was as she returned from one of these walks that she had seen a strange man following her. Feeling uncomfortable, she began to walk faster until she broke into a complete run, only to find that the man was still following her. Her house was in sight when the man caught up to her.
The next thing she knew, she had waken up to find some other teens around her.

{(That's where brainwashing comes in. If he doesn't believe his father is really his father then such things are easily avoidable. Brainwashing is simply telling someone something so many times that they believe it to be truth. That should be rather obvious to someone like Martel who wants an unquestioning army.)}

Here's my app for Ashlyn's twin. Hope you find it to your liking:
Username: Glyph Bellchime
Character Name: Ellis Cummings
Age: Sixteen
Character Position: Ashlyn's twin
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 140 lbs.
Personality: Known as 'Mr. Mood Swings' to his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Lyla, Ellis can be the class clown one day, and the next, snapping at everyone like a crazed bulldog. This has led his adoptive mother, Eloise Cummings, to take him to a psychiatrist, where he was diagnosed with bipolarism. Now, he takes medication to regulate his mood swings, although he's not totally happy with this arrangement, as it leaves him feeling like a zombie.
Bio: A four-day-old newborn was found on the outskirts of a small English farming village, close to Red Rose Forest. He was taking in by the town's constable, Warren Cummings. Ellis, as they named him, grew up in a happy and loving home, but as he approached adolescence, he began having severe mood swings. He would lash out at his parents, scream and rage, and destroy things. His parents sent him to anger management after he was suspended from school. He didn't do very well in that, and the counselor suggested a particular psychiatrist, who specialized in adolescent behavior issues. It was then discovered that Ellis had developed bipolarism stemming from being cast out into the elements as a newborn. It was then that his parents revealed how they had found him, that he was not their biological son. This devastated Ellis, who shut himself away inside his room, refusing to come out. His only outlet so far as been the computer in his bedroom, where he chats with a mysterious girl over IMs. He is also taking antidepressants, although as to what this may do to his mental state, only time can tell.
Appearance: Ellis is tall and rather skinny. He keeps the blinds drawn, so his skin is a sickly pale. Ellis's eyes are a shade of dark grey, and his hair is plain brown. He usually dresses in black or other dark colors.

Character Name: Dmitri Woulfe
Age: 17
Character Position: Trevor's Elder Brother
Height: 6'3
Weight: Almost two hundred pounds
Personality: What personality? I mean... Dmitri has been trained much to long to have any shreads of a personality. If you're beaten enough times you've eventually learn to stop doing what it is that gets you hit; right? He does enjoy his books, though... When he manages to get his hands on one; it's not easy, let me tell you.
Bio: Born to a half English, Half Russian family, Dmitri had already been raised with some semblence of a strict structure, but nothing like he was now. Pimlico "Grid" was where his family resided and was also where his unfortunate stealing took place. it was a little while after his younger brother had gone missing that it started. His parents were in a state of confused shock, not knowing which way to turn. Dmitri was a little older then a preteen at this time, about 14 or 15, so he could understand what his parents were going through, but they were slowly destorying themselves in the process.
Both had already lost their jobs and they'd stopped doing things to take care fo themseles, so sick with worry were they for their child. Dmitri tried to snap them out of it but eventually they had his Aunt and Uncle come pick him up. The rest was a piece of cake for the kidnapper, as while they were stopped at a gas station and the adults were getting some snack things from the store, Dmitri was sitting in the backseat of the car, reading and waiting. All he saw was the door open and a black shadow cover him before a clothe was pressed to his face.
When his Aunt and Uncle returned, the back door of the car was open and Dmitri was missing.

Username: angelgirl1419
Character Name: Alex Durham
Age: 17
Character Position: Boy 1
Height: 5'10''
Weight: 175 lbs
Personality: Alex's whole persona is built around cynicism. Hes arrogant, stuck-up, and comes off as an a-hole. Alex does happen to have somewhat of a heart, despite his antagonistic nature, though it can rarely be displayed. His humor is rather sardonic most of the time, contrary to the fact he dislikes to be the butt of a joke. Alex is very articulate and intelligent, which leads to his snobbish nature. He also has a temper, which can be dangerous, and has in the past led to many a brawl and fight. Despite his cynical nature, Alex finds solace in music and literature, his two only escapes, which is most ironic
Bio: Alex grew up in London, born and raised under the roof and teachings of his mother. She was a most prudent and wretched woman, and whenever she wasn't doting on little Alex, she was taking out her frustration on the lad for her own shortcomings. A snob at heart (and with no merit), she refused to let her lack of fortune get the best of her.
Alex's father jumped ship when he was only a toddler (not that Alex ever blamed him), leaving only a coffee stained letter discussing the matters of his leaving, including a zero tolerance level for Alex's mother. The letter went on to include that Alex, whenever free of his mothers clutches, should seek out his father.
Alex grew up as if he were a Buckingham prince, though not from the looks of the dipilated flat he and his mother lived in. A simple factory worker, she wasn't able to afford a high-end home, but made sure she and her son dressed up in the nicest of fashions her paychecks could buy. She instilled in Alex that no body was better than him, which was a good lesson to teach a young boy. However, perhaps both took the lesson a little too far, which led to Alex's snobbery and demeaning of others to heighten his own ego.
Around the time Alex was ten, his mothers rants and raves began. She was essentially a work horse, spending almost no time with Alex, and whatever time was spent with him, it was always nagging and yelling. This continued, which created a severed relationship between mother and son. Alex resents his mother for her prudent and in-tolerable nature, and how no matter what he accomplishes, it will never be good enough for her.

Bio: Ana was raised in Cardiff by her anarchist father, Archie. What a name for an anarchist, right? Well, obviously Archie thought it was fun to have a first name that began with an 'A' when you are an anarchist, as Ana well knew. Growing up surrounded by her father's friends, she gained the nickname Ana Anarchist. Which she hated.
As she began going to school, Ana developed her own set of ideals, and her own passions. Ana was a 'skate kid', and not the chick who dates the 'skate kids' and becomes one. No. Ana was a real park rat. Her friends called her 'Thatch', a nickname that she felt suited her more, for, Ana wasn't a die-hard extremist like her father. She believed in authority- however she first needed to approve of the authority before she obeyed.
Her father taught her how to fight and how to shoot a gun- just incase his movement decided to do something. Which was not likely.
So, Ana grew up as normal of a life as she could. She only ever had one boyfriend, one of her skate rat buds, but he was far to afraid to even take her out. Ana could have cared less. though.
Then one day, her father mentioned something about taking over London. For once, Ana was intrigued. She had little certainty about what her political views were, but she knew this: Ana hated England and everything it stood for. Her father couldn't give her any more information, because it wasn't his operation. Ana would soon find out.
She was skating her way back home one night, hearing nothing over the roar of her board, when she was attacked from behind. When she awoke, she learned all she needed to know about the plot to destroy London, and it sounded like fun.

The sun was just appearing over the tree tops as Fern walked out of the bathroom. She was fully dressed, in a pair of brown slack pants, combat boots, and a shirt of similar material that had many pockets to hold things. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail and braided then wrapped into a bun. She knew her job well, first it was fix breakfast for the kids, then when her father came back, make his then she could eat.
When Martel finally did come in, Fern stood to attention before he let her relax. "There are a group of kids in the first shed, they need training. I'll tell you more after they're feed and dressed." He said as he sat down and started eating.
"Yes, sir!" Came Fern's reply. She took a bundle of clothing similar to hers and the key to the shed before walking through the forest for a half a mile before coming to the shed. She unlocked the pad lock and then opened the double doors.
"Hello?" She called excepting young kids like normal, but when she saw the five teens, her eyes widened. "No, way..."

That's how many holes were in the ceiling tiles in my bedroom. I should know, I've spent the last few days just laying here and staring up at them. Except for the hum of the fan oscillating and Mum's occasional knock to check up on me, there's been silence.
Inside myself, however, was a war of emotions. The shrink my parents had dragged me to a few weeks ago officially called me 'bipolar', but I refuse to acknowledge it. I'm a normal English teenage boy, goddammit! It doesn't matter how many 'specialists' Mum talks to, there's nothing wrong with me.
Of course, they don't believe me. Sometimes, neither do I.
It was only a few days ago, the day I shut myself here in my room, that Mum and Dad sat me down and told me the truth -- I wasn't their real child. Dad, who's the town constable, found a newborn while walking his beat near Red Rose Forest, a patch of thick woods that surrounds Hamptonshire. Everyone's pretty much freaked out by the woods, and no one ever really goes in.
I reacted just as they thought I'd might: disbelief, anger, confusion, frustration. I stomped up here and locked the door. I'm godawful hungry, but my stubborn pride won't let me unlock the door.
On a whim, I sit up. Dizziness takes over my head, and I shake it off. I pull back the thick curtains over my window, to reveal the lovely view of the forest from my bedroom. An unconcious shudder takes my body as I let the curtain drop. Who were my parents? Why did they abandon me?
Will I ever find answers?

Life was looking good for Ana. There was a new game to play. She loved the hijinks of her skate buds, but she felt she needed to do something important.
Which is what the was.
Ana and the group of other recruits were led to a shed, not unlike those you find in a backyard. There, they were told to wait for the person who was going to be in charge of them.
To deal with the boredom, Ana took out a ballpoint pen and began to scribble tattoos onto her skin. There would be plenty of time to socialize later.
The padlocks were opened, and in came their trainer. The girl looked like she couldn't be older than Ana. An interesting twist.

Things had gotten much... crazier for Gwyneth, the past day or two....
She'd spent a lot of the day at the local arcade. There had been some funny guy lurking about, someone she'd never seen before. A visitor? Didn't get many of those, in her small town; maybe an obscure relative of some sort or another. Either way, she finished her game- a first-person shooter- just as it was getting dark, and headed for home.
That's when it all went insane.
A dark shortcut; the street lights were spotty, in any case. This was one of those towns where you learned where things were early, due to there not being too much there. So she took a short-cut down an alley. Then...
Running footsteps. Shouting. In a small mote of light, the gleam off what could only be again. Hands grabbing. Gwyneth struggled- kicking, punching, even biting. A fist struck her the temple. Stars flashed behind her eyes, rainbow lights not normally seen in this spectrum.
Next thing she knew, she came to in this shed.
That had been not too long ago. There were a few others, two boys and two girls, about the same age as herself all present. They hadn't talked, really. It was just too strange.
Then the door opened. Gwyneth shaded her eyes, squinting; the sunlight streaming through, sharp contrast as it was with the dim light within, made her eyes hurt. There was a girl there, roundabout the same age as herself. Dressed in what looked like some sort of uniform; maybe even fatigues?
Gwyneth gulped. Her throat felt so dry.... When she spoke, her voice was almost a croak. "What's going on here?"

Time is just an illusion, a concept made up by your mind to keep you stuck thinking the world changing on you, when in all reality they are already dead and gone. Humans are born dying and by the time they reach adulthood they are already dead, but their body and mind don't realize that fact yet and they keep on working until they do.
That was the concept of time and life Hale had come up with while he was sitting in this shed surrounded by four others. Not one of them was the least bit interesting to Hale, nor would they be until they proved him otherwise.
The doors to the shed opened and the new girl caught his eye. 'So this is the one who will be in charge of us, boring.' He thought as he continued to sit, not caring about the girl and instead refocusing on his thoughts.

Well, it seemed like no one was happy about the new trainer, though Dmitri couldn't blame them. It's not like anyone wanted to be here, anyway, and certainly not told what to do by a mere child. Can't blame them, he was thinking as he studied Fern. Not only did she appear younger than he, but also so much shorter. Dmitri stood up, his joints cracking from the discontinued use he had gone through for several hours. Stretching his legs, he walked toward Fern and stopped a foot or two away; if he did as he was told than he could bide time and keep away from pain as he figured out how to escape. "Dmitri," he held his hand out to her.

Alex grimaced as the doors opened, shielding his eyes from the merciless light that flooded his pupils. How long had he been captive? In all honesty, he didn't know. Minutes, hours, days? Time was one continuous loop, now, with no beginning nor end, no breaks, just never ending.
Alex stretched out his legs, rubbing and pounding at them with his fists. They had fallen asleep again. He watched as a boy stood, approaching the damned girl that let in the damned light. What did he plan on doing? Making nice with his captor? Alex stayed put, concentrating on getting rid of the feeling of pins being pushed into his legs.
How did this all start? Alex tried not to think about it. Tried to push it far from his mind. There was no past, now. Only present, and future.

Fern took in a moment to watch everyone's expressions. When one of the males walked over, and stuck his hand out, she shoved a pair of clothes like she had on into his arms. From what she could see, he looked a lot like Trevor only older and that made her a lot harsher to him then the others. Staying where she was at, she threw the rest to the others. "Get changed and I'll bring you breakfast." Her voice was like a leader's was meant to be, but she couldn't wait until she didn't have to be harsh with them. She turned and shut the doors to the shed again and locked it before going back to the main house. The time it took her to get just enough food for them and make it back over the mile, she unlocked the padlock again and opened the door. She set the food down and moved back. There were no plates or silverware to eat with, but she knew they'd have to get used to it. She bowed her head slightly. "Training starts as soon as your done eating." She turned her back on them and started walking out of the door. She'd stand watch, but she didn't think any of them would be stupid enough to try and escape.

Hale shook his head for a moment at the girls few words. None of this really mattered to him, it was merely something interesting to do for now, if he got bored with it he could formulate a plan to get out of there.
Without a word He donned the new outfit, little concern for the others in the room watching him, it didn't matter to him who saw him in nothing more than his under clothes.
When the girl returned he grabbed some of the food and ate it without a second thought. Food was food and he doubted it would be poisoned, or at least not yet.

Well then! If she was going to be rude about it than Dmitri would be as sweet as he possibly could... While trying to terrorize her. He looked down at the clothes; how did they know his size? He shrugged and stepped back to where he'd been siting, waiting for Fern to come back with their breakfast, like she said she would. He watched her watch them before he started to pull his clothes off, slowly removing his shirt and leaving the large expanse of tanned muscle to glimmer in the light before he unbuttoned his pants and dropped them; if this didn't effect her than he'd just have to try harder. He started to pull on the new clothes that had been given to him.

Gwyneth wasn't so complacent about this as the two boys. "Training? What the bloody heck?..." She went to the door, trying it. Locked. She kicked the thing, swearing under her breath. And there was no way in heck she was taking off her clothes in front of a couple of boys, and that was a fact! You could turn your back all you wanted, but you sure couldn't trust them to return the favor. At least, not in any past experiences she'd had.

Ana wore the uniform of no man! Then again, if one was pledging one's loyalty to a cause, then one had no room to complain. Still, ever fiber of her being screamed as Ana touched the clothes. Why was everyone else so willing to conform? Because they were, once again, pledging themselves to a cause which required a militaristic bond. So Ana knew why. She just didn't know it would be to hard to accept.
Instead, Ana decided to eat first. She could get dressed quickly if anything was said about it.
Ana ate her rather tasteless meal, as she looked around at her fellows with disdain. There were some people that Ana approved of, or at least she didn't foresee having issues with. Then there was that one guy, obviously showing off for their new leader's attention. Ana had met the type before. Such creeps.
But the girl who was throwing a fit, Ana liked.

Hale was truly a man of few words, but he still didn't see a point in kicking an object that obviously wouldn't move.
'I think I will end up regretting this if they are all so against it.' Hale thought to himself before being drawn back into his deep thoughts about life, the universe and everything...

Gwyneth gave him a dark look past a trailing lock of her copper-colored hair. "Thank you, Captain Obvious," she said, words laden with dry sarcasm. So it hadn't been sensible. So what? May as well go see if any of the food they'd been presented with was edible.... One thing she wasn't going to deny herself was a meal. That would just be stupid.

Seems like they had a spitfire on their hands; that would just make things more difficult on the others. Dmitri wrapped his arms behind his head, cracking his shoulderblades and elbows. "Tell me if it's edible," he wasn't going to eat it if it had some sort of drug in it; he was sure it wasn't poisoned, though; keeping them there and than killing them off like that? That would be stupid.

Gwyneth took a bite, chewing; her expression turned into one of distaste. Not disgust, but it was plainly unappealing. "Ugh," she said. "It won't poison you, but you sure won't be coming back for seconds, either." Maybe that was the idea. Or maybe these people thought base-level sustenance was all that was required, and anything akin to palatability was a luxury.

Alex gave a dismal sigh, fingering the fabric of the uniform before tossing it aside with disdain. He lolled his head back against the metallic material that made up the shed, and watched his peers with little interest. There was no point getting himself worked up at this point. "Perhaps it's like school food," Dmitri suggested, venturing over to take a bite; it certainly wasn't good, that's for sure. "Yucky but holds a lot of vitamins and sh!t," he poked at it before picking up something that appeared to be... slimey. With a sigh, he held it over his tongue, letting it drip onto his tastebuds before he shuddered. "If they're going to take us away from the lap of luxury they could at least get us decent food."

Ana turned away from the 'witty' banter between the show-off and the kicker. It seems that they were not all informed about the mission. Perhaps that is for the better. It didn't seem likely that too many people would join by choice. For someone of Ana's anarchist leanings, she had a little dictator streak in her.
There was no way Sonia would go naked. She pulled on the shirt overtop of the one she was already wearing, before realizing the pants were a problem.
Too short.
Great.
For a Ana looked around to see if anyone else had gotten pants she could trade. Suddenly, Ana felt very shy. She felt like an idiot having to ask. So she didn't. Ana took a few steps out of everyone's direct line of vision, and put on the too=short pants. Now that that was done, Ana waited.
It would be fun to see those who were not privy to the mission's faces.

"In that case, you'll let me use you as a shield." She followed Ana's lead and pulled on the shirt over her own; but while she could don the pants and then drop the skirt, she couldn't do so without flashing her knickers at the room. And no matter whether anyone was interested or not, Gwyneth wasn't an exhibitionist. As she moved around to stand behind Monty and between him and the wall, she added, "Yes, give the fare to the kids. They need it." She agreed with him on that point.

With immense disinterest, Alex slid the bowl across the slick floor, where it stopped affront the captors feet. There was no way in hell he was going to eat it, might as well give it to another life form stupid enough to.
Alex then reluctantly retrieved the cloths he rebelliously discarded moments before, and jerked them on with sharp, deliberate movements. He sat back down, though his lower spine protested. Dmitri didn't have any problem being a shield; it wasn't a bother to him and it wasn't like he was going anywhere. "Do you mean showering in front of each other?" Not that he had a problem with that, either; he had often showered with his little brother when it was his turn to bathe the boy, but if she meant all of that then she might mean using the bathroom, too, and if that was the case he would wait until he exploded. Maybe console wasn't the right word. English wasn't Ana's forte. Anyway, even with a cover, the creep couldn't cover all of her from every angle.
Hell, underwear was just like a bathing suit right?
Ana took of the too-short pants with a little difficulty, before handing them to the kicker. Ana didn't care that she was exposed. It was only going to get worse once she needed to shower.

"Thanks for the cover," Gwyneth muttered. At least Mr. "show off my torso" was being decent to her. And he didn't want to be here any more than she did; unlike these two weirdos, who seemed to think being here was some sort of twisted privilege. Maybe she could get this guy to plot an escape with her.... For now, she tried to maneuver herself between him and accompanying foliage and other protrusions, making the switch in near-record time. Who'd have thought you could get anything out of having to quick-change after gym class? Turned out it was good for something after all.

Fingering the Celtic cross around her neck lightly. It had once been Trevor's before he died, but he gave it to her shortly before he died on Field Thirteen. She turned and started walked back towards the house. The main shed where the last remaining twenty something kids were left was only a good thirty feet from the house. A few of them were outside playing the rest, the slightly older ones were taking watch and conversing their energy. "Marcus!" A boy's head poked out of the shed door and came running over. He eyed the teens behind him before turning to look at Fern.
"What are they doing here?" Bending down to his level, which wasn't much, she handed him the bowl.
"Give it to the young ones. I'll explain everything later, all right?" The male nodded his head and ran off. Fern sighed and turned back to face the others.
"Let's go and try to keep up." She turned and started running. It was only a mile to the training field and would only take Fern a few minutes to get there, but she had to test the others and see where they needed the most work.

Gwyneth didn't say another word. It was plain she was going to have to go along with things, for the moment. She hated conformity, but she seemed to have been dragged into a world where someone would hit you as soon as look at you. Go along with it for now, make plans to get away later. Take this time to learn the lay of the land, find out where any weak- or at least lax- points might be. And see whether or not her potential ally might continue to be one of those....
But keep up? She was active enough, she could do that without much problem. Still, she made a mental note to be careful what she said around who. Just like at school. Ugh. Except with much stronger ramifications if the wrong person overheard the wrong thing.

Hale said nothing after Fern said that she would take him to Martel later that night. 'These people are annoying, I hope most of them are killed soon enough.' He thought to himself as he followed Fern without question. He was hand selected for this job, what did he have to complain about other than some bad food and having to deal with some stupid people.

After two and a half miles, Fern stopped running and looked back at the others. It was clear, she was going to have to start them out running. If they couldn't handle this, then they were in trouble. Though, I hope they never have to truly do this. I don't want to lead them to their deaths like I've done so many others... "Hurry up, this isn't a picnic!" She yelled disappearing behind a few bushes. On the other side was a clearing with targets and a small shed that had guns to use in practice. She'd be teaching them aim first and how to break down a gun without their eyes, but everything would take time and Martel wanted it soon.

This was like gym class, only worse.... Sure, Gwyneth had had her share of lively activity. She'd made sure she could keep up with the kids around her. It was a way of blowing off steam, in a confining small town like the one she'd grown up in. But now, running laps. What next, doing chin-ups on a bar? Taking sill exams of some kind?
The former might be closer than you think, she reminded herself dryly as she ran, doing her best to keep up. Seeing as this seemed to be like some sort of imprisonment boot camp.... I've got to find a way out of here. Which meant getting the lay of the land... and not giving them any reason to be suspicious of her.

Should he run? Or just jog at his own pace? Dmitri was struck with a brilliant idea. He started out running, keeping himself a the middle of the group before he started to slow down, letting everyone passed him before he promptly turned around and ran the other way; fu.ck this; he had better things to do with his time than spend it wallowing away at Boot Camp B!tch, which is what Fern had been to all of them since the very beginning, though he was starting to think a lot of it was aimed at him moreso than others. But whatever; he was hightailing his perfectlly tight ass out of there; she was the idiot who didn't keep an eye on them.

Doing a quick head count, Fern cursed. "Martel's going to kill me. You," she pointed to the male and female who both didn't mind being there. "Watch them." She turned and started running back the way she came, loading the gun as she went. It didn't take her long to catch onto Dmitri's trail. She gulped as she noticed it was going to go right past her window and probably right next to Trevor's grave. His name was craved onto the stone she'd place over it by her unbroken hand. The thoughts of the male going anywhere near Trevor's grave pushed her legs harder until she caught sight of him and the grave.

"I wonder how this is going to work. Are we going to kill those who escape?" Ana asked, no one really, as she watched Fern speed off after Dimitri. Honestly, Ana felt things might go better without his hot-head around.
Ana moved to the other side of the group from the other boy in charge. That way, it would be easier to catch someone who got any ideas.
The running was rough. Ana was a natural sprinter. She wasn't built for long distances. Or maybe that was a dwarf.

In the middle of his run, Dmitri did a sort of double-take, seeing the grave. His boots skidded in the dirt, kicking up dust and grime. His bi colored eyes splayed over the name carved into the tombstone. "Trevor?" He had completely forgotten about Fern by now. He walked toward the grave, reaching out a tanned hand. "Baby brother..." He whispered, feeling the prickles behind his eyes but unable to stop the tears. A while after Trevor had gone missing people assumed that he was dead, but Dmitri didn't believe it. He kept searching; even a few days ago, when he was still free, he was searching, but now... Now, after so long, the emotions came out and he found himself softly weeping, on his knees in front of the grave. "Baby brother!"

Fern stopped running and came up behind of him. She slipped the gun over her shoulder again. She tried keeping her own tears in check. "I tried to save him... He was my best friend. Only thirteen years old... He didn't deserve this none of them do..." She stopped right behind him. "He'd almost made it through field thirteen a second time... I don't understand how it happened..." She trailed off knowing nothing she could say or do now would bring her friend back. I understand why you remind me so much of him now... You are his older brother.

Alex stood motionless, arms crossed as he watched the scene unfold before his eyes. He didn't know what it was like to lose someone you actually cared about, since he didn't actually care about anyone. However, a sibling might have been nice. Someone else who could know and deal with his shrew of a mother.
After a few moments, Alex traveled a few paces away, his boots kicking up a top layer of dust on the ground. He felt as if all this were too weird; like a dream. Yes, it was all a dream. He would wake up soon to the smell of too strong coffee and burnt eggs and bacon. He would avoid eating and talking to his mother, jetting out the door and sprinting to school, lest he be late.
However, this wasn't a dream. It was reality, not matter how fictitious it seemed. And he was not sure how to escape it.

As Fern's words entered Dmitri's brain his anger grew stronger and sharper until he turned in a rage and pounced at Fern to try and beat the living sh!t out of her. "It's all your fault! My brother is dead because of you! Best friend? Shut your fat face; he was my blood relative! You are nothing to him but his murderer; I'll fu.cking kill you!" It didn't dawn on him that she was carrying a gun and could blast him to smithereenies at any moment.

Just like mothers and Jake and everyone else deaths were my fault. But if I was nothing to him, why did he give me his Celtic cross before he died then? He was the only one to call me by my true name... If you wish to kill me at least let me free all of you first..."

Alex resisted a snicker. Did she just say "Holy Heck"? Probably rather sheltered, not having the type of environment at her disposal to broaden her profanity.
This was more like a Soap Opera than anything, and Alex turned back to observe the scene again, this time from afar. What were they going on about? The Captor killing some one's brother? Rather dramatic, Alex thought, but he kept watching just the same.
He briefly considered taking a run for it, breaking off into a smooth and stealthy sprint while The Captor was vulnerable and distracted. However, Alex soon reasoned agaisnt it. There had to be guards everywhere. He was trapped.

(Okay, thanks Avenger.)
I pulled up the hood on my jacket to ward off the cold mist. Here it was April, nearly spring, and the damned misty weather that jolly old England was famous for wouldn't leave. Geez. I'm gonna move to Hawaii, one of these days.
I told Mum that I was going out for a walk. I wish I hadn't, because then she rushed over to me and hugged me and told me to be careful and not go far, and call if I needed anything. I assured her I would, although I hid my cell under the bed last night. Mum saw me out the door.
It was a bit creepy. It was almost like she knew I was running away.
The sun climbed over the trees and the roofs of the quaint houses. Nobody really out, except for a few tourists in garish clothes, snapping pictures and whispering about the lovely view of Red Rose Forest from this height.
Lovely on the outside, perhaps. Inside, though, it concealed something... something I needed to find out. I started down the weather-beaten road that ran beside the woods.

Even though Ana was emotional, she had little tolerance for tears. She wasn't exactly repulsed by the scene that was unfolding, but she wished it would just end already. There is no room for sadness when there are things that need to be done.
Ana had briefly forgotten to keep an eye on the group. They looked like they were either too taken in, or too hopeless about their situation to run. But it never hurt to be careful. Ana tried not to watch the emotional display, it was annoying her, and that made her feel like a terrible human being.

Dmitri's tear-stricken eyes turned to Fern's neck, searching for the cross. "You don't deserve anything of his, you mother-fu.cking, b!tch. I kill you right now and than we'll all just leave! We don't need your help," he honed in on her gun and snatched at it, ready to blow Fern's head away.... And than continue to shoot her body until not even dust was left. "He was just a CHILD! And you killed him! You took him away from his loving family and brutally murdered him! You took him-" Dmitri's throat closed up and his voice came out hoarse. "You took him from me. And just like that all the fight left him and his legs gave out, bringing him down to his ass in a weeping, sobbing mass of tanned flesh and white hair. "I'm all alone... " he held himself; mummy died of a broken heart not but a year ago, his father left him a few months ago, and now he found out his brother was dead. Every happy occasion that Dmitri and Trevor had shared passed through his mind like a slideshow.

Fern sat up and brushed a few leaves from her hair. She gulped as she watched him. She wasn't used to emotional breakdowns. They just weren't something that came with the territory of being raised the way she was. Taking a deep breath, she crawled the short distance between them and wrapped her arms around Dmitri. "I know nothing I say.... will bring him back... no matter how much I wish it... But he... Trevor... died with friends... You don't understand that yet... And I didn't kill them.... My father... and his stupid moose...." She couldn't take it. It hadn't been to long since Trevor had died. If his brother were to dig him up, he'd still be fairly intact with only a few bugs on him. The thought made Fern sick to her stomach, but she held it down. One thing she would never give the boy would be Trevor's necklace. Had Trevor's dying wish been to give it to his sibling then she would have, but the boy had wanted her to have it.

Dmitri accepted the hug, unable to think of anything else. He had no idea what was going on around him; all he knew was that his brother was happy inside of his head.
Another strand broke.
And anger reared its ugly head again. Dmitri pushed Fern away from him and stood, spitting at the ground like she left an awful taste in his mouth. "B!tch, you stay the fu.ck away from me. I'm going to mangle your body until not even the worms will want to feast on your remains." But he wouldn't tell her when; in fact, he turned right around and started for the training area. He was going to allow them to turn him into a heartless killing machine and than he was going to kill every single one of them, and just to spite the witch he was going to take the necklace from her and eat it. Then he'd dig up his brother's body and hide it under his bed, proving that Trevor truly was dead and that he wasn't insane.

"All right. I'm going to assume none of you have ever shot a gun. If you have keep your trap shut." It was as if the scene with Dmitri had never happened. "We'll start with the basics learning the parts of the gun." She tossed a key over to Hale. "Go get enough guns from that shed out for everyone." She ordered pointing to the shed before turning back to the group.

I guess this isn't the time to mention first-person shooter games. No doubt that "experience" would be met with derision; besides, Gwyneth knew quite readily that the plastic "guns" on the games were like the real thing only in basic shape and having something akin to a trigger. It was the aim that mattered, in the games, not the parts....
In the meantime, she slanted a glance at Dmitri. So much for drawing on him as a potential ally for escape.... Given how volatile he seemed. Even if, with what she could tell from the circumstances, he appeared to have some good reason for having an outburst. Part of her wondered if she should offer some sort of companionship, in fact. But perhaps it would be best to give him space, for now. Just focus on lasting in this mess until she could find a means of getting away from it.

(Okay! I think I know where I am.)
This is it. This is Red Rose Forest.
Truth be told, it wasn't quite as menacing as I had pictured it. I had seen the forest from a distance, in my bedroom, but never up close. I was always too... frightened, I guess.
I stood at the edge of the tree line, my hands in my pockets to ward off the chill. I looked around. To my left and right, various, unassuming trees stretched as far as I could see. Behind me was the wall surrounding our village. I had always thought the wall a bit odd; no other village I'd visited had one. It was almost like the town was trying to keep something out. The forest, perhaps? Or, something inside it?
I looked at the rooftops peeking over the wall. Last chance. I could walk into these woods, where people are (supposedly) said to have never returned, or I could just go back home and have some of mum's soup.
I stepped into the forest. After all, mum made some lousy soup.
***
About fifteen minutes into my nature walk, and not seeing anything more interesting than a big fuzzy caterpillar, I was beginning to harbor doubts. What if this was just some normal woods, it was all some stupid urban legend? But, in that case, who dumped me here, when I was four days old? And why?
A heard a sound, a sound animal-like, but I knew it didn't come from an animal. It sounded like a scream. A human scream, mixed with anger and dispair.
I froze. Maybe this wasn't as good of an idea as I thought. Hearing nothing else, I cautiously edged forward.

It was a good thing her father'd taught her how to shoot. But not being able to brag about it sucked. Oh well, it would be fun to see people who haven't shot before try, hell, it would be entertaining to see the people better than her fire as well. Anything would be more fun than watching some emotional scene that doesn't involve you, or staring at rocks when you are avoiding the display. Boy, Ana wished they were allowed to talk. She wasn't that chatty or friendly of a person, but it was something to do while they waited for guns.
When she thought about it, Ana really didn't like guns. They were unsportsmanlike. The way problems should be solved is a no-holds-bar fist fight to the death between leaders of causes. Or a gentlemanly duel. When was dueling outlawed anyway? In France it was around the time of Louie the... 14th? Hell. Not like any of this unspoken conversation mattered anyway. She didn't have to get her facts right.
Interesting how this operation was conducted out of a series of sheds. Quite shanty-like.
