One Sky
Two peoples have been fighting for over three centuries now. The two peoples are the noble, religious, and barbaric Vikings and the native, farming, and beautiful Celts. But then something terrible happens to both sides that bring them together- the attack of the Voyrm. Then a group is formed to help destroy the Voyrm, but with clashing beliefs and other problems will they succeed and bring peace to the land?

Name: Iseult ni Kynderyn (literally means “Iseult, daughter of Kynderyn”)
Age: 24
Gender: female
Race: Human
People: Celts
Placement: Celtic Queen
History: Iseult is the daughter of the previous king of her tribe, Kynderyn. Her mother died birthing her, and since her father missed his wife too much to marry again, she was his only child. Thus, she was raised to be even stronger than many Celtic women already were. Her father wanted her to be queen after his time passed. Hence, she must be ready for the role. So while many common young women grew up knowing household duties of cooking, weaving, etc., instead, Iseult came of age on swords and shields, sitting in on war meetings, standing alongside her father's chair to absorb the arts of leadership. Above all, understanding the importance of defending her tribe.
Her father died three years ago, in a sally in response to a Viking raid. Iseult had no time to grieve, no matter how she may wish to, for they had a close bond as a result of her upbringing. But to take up the role he had intended for her, she must act with swift efficiency. After all, leader of the tribe was a highly coveted position, even with the danger involved. If Kynderyn had had a son, his inheritance would have been assured unless he was visibly unworthy. But there were those who felt even the best-trained woman was no match for a man.
Which meant Iseult had to prove otherwise. Three different men came forward laying claim to kingship; a cousin of her father's, another cousin of her own, and a tribesman who was not related but had good standing as a strong and dependable warrior. In the end, Iseult met them all in the combat of challenge, to settle the matter... and won. Thus proving herself to be worthy of the title of queen.
As yet, Iseult has not chosen a consort. She must be very careful in said choice, so as to find one who will stand alongside her without feeling jealousy; to support her as a strong warrior, and not resent her for being the leader. She still attaches her father's name after her own, both in remembrance of him and as a verbal reminder to the men of the tribe of whose daughter she is. It's an unconventional move, as most people don't extend their names in such a way, but Iseult is taking no chances. She'll do all she can to hold this position- and her tribe- secure.
Personality: As you've no doubt guessed, Iseult has an inherently serious nature. Her life hasn't left her much time for mirth, and subsequently she tends to be grave. At least in public- and there are very few times when she's not. She takes her role as leader and protector of her tribe very seriously. To Iseult, that's what she was made for. The tribe is her life, in a sense. Now, underneath this tight control and gravity is a fierce- or at least passionate- side. These days, that's typically only seen in battle or training. Then and only then does she let that side unfetter; and then, it's like a flame bursts to life within. Iseult does her utmost to be a reasonable, fair leader, making decisions rational but still with some aspect of kindness. She has to be ever mindful of balance, though; to not seem too yielding, for there may yet be someone who would call upon that as a sign of weakness. And above all, Iseult fears coming across as weak or uncertain. To do so would be to lose face in the tribe. Above all, she is staunchly, fiercely loyal, and will do all in her power to defend those associated with her.
Weaknesses: Well, there's the idea of being a woman leader. Yes, she earned it, and is respected. But she has to be on top of things at all times, or there's the chance that someone might try to exploit a slip as a chance to unseat her from her position. Not to mention that as a result of the life she's lead, Iseult knows little of basic feminine arts; household management and so forth. Then there's the pure and simple fact of the matter that she has to find a consort in order to create an heir. As of now, she has none.
Weapon: Mainly the sword, though Iseult is also skilled with bow and arrow, and can fight with a knife if necessary.

Name: Keira (Pronouned KEER-uh); goes by Keiran. Both mean "the dark one"; she is named for her dark hair and eyes.
Age: 19; says she is 21
Gender: Male/Female (See "placement")
Race: Human
People: Celt
Placement: Celtic warrior 3 (Female masquerading as a male)
History: Keira was born the youngest of three children and sole daughter of Connor and Biddy Driscol. Her mother and father were Celts with humble beginnings. Her father, Connor, had trained with his own father from childhood to become of soldier in the queen's army, and would have succeeded if not for partial blindness in his right eye. Distraught, but determined to serve his country in anyway he could, he began training his young sons, Aidan and Devlin to become soldiers. Day after day, little Keira would watch, wishing she could join and make her father proud. Often, she would pick up a long stick from the grass and mirror her father's movements, tricking her older brothers into training with her when their father's back was turned. she became very good very quickly, fueled by anger because she couldn't participate save for in secret.
Meanwhile, Keira's mother, Biddy, was a gentle woman, considered beautiful by most, with a singing voice to melt hearts of stone. Biddy, too, felt the unyielding hand of male superiority on the battle ground, and took her daughter aside for many secret archery lessons. Yes, Keira's young life was dotted with lies and plots, but their family was nonetheless a happy one.
Voyrm came on her sixteenth birthday. Her mother had shooed her out of the house, under the pretense of gathering berries for the night's supper. Keira used this opportunity to hunt and trap pheasant as well, just to please her mother, as she'd had a strange premonition only nights before.
When Keira returned from her prolonged stay in the woods, it was to a smoldering pile of wreckage where once her house had been. Her family, who had been preparing for Keira's journey into womanhood, had been trapped and killed inside the house. At that moment, Keira lost all sense of being.
When she came to herself again, it was dark. She was in a part of the forest she'd never seen before. There were burns on her hands and arms, and scorch marks on her clothing. Her mother's bow, and her father's sword lay at her feet, and her hair, once the pride of her mother and father alike, long, shining, and black as a raven's wing, was burned to the length of her shoulders. She knew then she wanted nothing more than revenge, and she was fairly certain she knew where to find it.
Two months later, she found herself joining the ranks of the queens army, under a new name, Keiran. She had become the son her father had always wanted.
Personality: Keira is typically a quiet and brooding girl. She is not prone to flights of fancy, or bouts of brash anger. She is a calm and rational thinker, especially under pressure, and rarely lets emotion overtake her. She is intelligent, level-headed, courageous, loyal, and determined, making her shine on the battlefield. She is also, however, stubborn, prideful, and independent, and occasionally pushes the boundaries of insubordination. She loves passionately, deeply, but rarely, and she trusts slowly. Her greatest passion is serving her dying family's memory, and it is this which drives her above all else.
Weaknesses: While Keira cannot afford to be prideful of her looks, nor can she boast extraordinary battle prowess, she is very intelligent, and she knows it. On occasion, a slight to her pride can distract and (rarely) enrage her. Furthermore, while she seldom shows any signs of desperate emotion, she tends to break down in the dark. It is the one thing she fears above all else. Finally, due to an injury when she was a child, Keira's right shoulder is significantly weaker than her left.
Weapon: Her longsword, named Ultor (Avenger) [melee], and her mother's bow [ranged]. Due to an old injury, she prefers to use the sword, as the bow is a heavy pull for her injured arm.[/QUOTE]
