Hello dollwizard friends! I'm at school right now, and I was wondering if you could give me a hand with something. I am currently doing a hero project on movie maker about a girl named Sadako Sasaki. For those who don’t know her by name, Sadako was a 12 year old girl who died of leukemia after the atomic bomb in Japan.
Her story is as follows.
Sadako grew up in a small town near ground zero, and her whole family survived the war except for her grandmother. Ten years later Sadako had grown into a happy, healthy little girl. But one day during a race she got dizzy and she passed out. At the hospital they told her she had leukemia. That saddened Sadako; because she could no longer run and play like she so loved. Instead she preoccupied herself another way. One of her friends came to visit Sadako in the hospital. That friend took a small sheet of paper, and folded it many times into a small paper crane.
She told Sadako of a story, "If you make 1000 paper cranes the gods will bestow a wish upon you" she then gave the little golden Crain to Sadako and said, "here this is your first one.
From then on Sadako folded many, many paper cranes. It wasn’t the playing that she wanted to do, but she hoped that she would get better. But before Sadako could finish her 1000 paper cranes, she dies, only 366 cranes short. Her classmates where so sad to hear the news of her death; they wanted to do something for their good friend Sadako. So they finished the cranes for her, and also raised enough money to build a memorial where people from around the world send paper cranes to wish for world peace.
So that little girl is the subject of my project. I think that she is the perfect hero!
Now what I need help with is I have to get a whole bunch of pictures to make my project fantabulious! So I was wondering if all of my dollwizard friends could post some pictures of things that you think would fit Sadako’s story. Like some pictures of cranes and stuff! It would really help me out a lot! And when I’m done, I will post my finished product here!
Thanks!
