She thought she was the only one until she found him.
Appearance:: Ana has dark brown hair, that's a bit wavy, that goes down to her shoulder-blades. Her eyes are blue, and her skin is fairly pale. She's a looks frail and is very tiny in size due to her sickness and the fact that there's not much food around anymore hasn't helped. She stands at about 5'3" and weighs about 105 pounds. When the epidemic hit, Ezra was somehow immune to it, and he didn't even know how. {Later to find out!} He's quite saddened because all his family and friends, and his fiancee died. {Alright! Let's start on the day they meet.}
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
Ezra dragged the baseball behind him as he walked. It was about noon, luckily clocks hadn't stopped working. He was across the parking lot, of Fred Meyer. He got to the door and picked the bat up, holding it upright.
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
He got a good grip, then swung at the glass, shattering it.
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
He sung loudly as he stepped over the glass and into the store. He just hoped to find some good stuff, his food supply was getting low.
So I just did me some talkin to the sun
And I said I didnt like the way he got things done
Sleepin on the job
Those raindrops are falling on my, head they keep falling
He grabbed a cart and began browsing down the aisles, steering clear of the meat section, however. Ew, rotting meat stunk way too much!

Ana hopped along on the car tops, finding it refreshing to get some excersize, not only that but it was a little bit of a game, too. But when she attempted a cart-wheel, things went downwards. Her hands slipped on the car and she landed hard on the next car on her right hip, producing a very loud noise. Cursing loudly, she rubbed her hip and bit her lip. It would definitly be sore in the morning, and at that thought she groaned.

Ezra gingerly pushed the cart around the store, grabbing everything and anything in a can and that hadn't expired yet. The cart he was pushing was already full to the brim. Ahh, he'd have to come back! Ezra's voice rang out in the emptiness of the store as he left. "Ahh! I feel like singing something else~" he called to no one. "How about some Coldplay?" And he begun.
I used to rule the world~
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the mornin' I sweep aloooone
Sweep the streets I used to own~

Ana pushed herself off of the cold car top and opted for walking on the road inbetween the cars in light of her recent injury. She tested the weight of her red back-pack, she had enough food for about a week from what it felt like but she knew that she was down to three water bottles. Just incase she had to walk through country-space again. She shuddered at that thought, the country-space was terrible.

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
Now the old King is dead
Long live the King
Ezra left the store, pushing his full cart across the empty parking lot. Where to next? Well, first he had to get this stuff back to his place. Then, his usual raiding of the city's stores would begin, looking for anything that was still good. He'd probably hit the music store first.

Ana shuffled along, her blue eyes scanning the desolate world around her. She'd been there, and that was always very depressing. Seeing a city that was once always so full of life and lights, and seeing it now in a time that it was void of all life and spirit was crushing. It was times like these she lost her hope that she was not the last human on Earth, and taking in a shuddering breath, she shivered and kept walking.

Ezra could bare it better, if he didn't think about it. He wasn't strong enough to think about the past yet. It took Ezra about an hour to wheel the cart by to where he stayed, the vacant town house that had been his before everything had happened. He'd lived with his brother, they were room mates. He went inside and emptied the cart, putting away all the food into the cabinets and ice box(his fridgerator no longer worked), then wheeled the cart back outside.

Outside, it was growing dark, but that didn't bother Ana, anymore. It wasn't like there was any crimes anymore. Except maybe her stealing, but that was all. Sighing again, she found a building, that had lights on in it, and decided that she'd stay there for the night. She jogged up the stairs and opened the door, setting down her backpack and yawning. Something was moving in the other room, a wild animal, was her first guess. Boy was she wrong...

Ezra grinned as he pushed a CD into his stereo and music blared out. Wait! "What would go great with this?" Ezra wondered aloud, then raced up the stairs to his room, where the door was slightly ajar, but Ezra was sure he'd closed it. He shrugged and pushed the door open.

Ana turned so quickly she was amazed she didn't get whiplash. It was... someone. Her mind rejoiced, cheering and screaming, but her body and voice stayed completely still, unable to say anything. She was shocked. Her mouth moved to speak, but nothing came out. Finally, she took a step forward and reached out her arm, to touch his face. When her hand didn't got through his face, it was official, he wasn't simply an illusion produced from months of lonliness, he was real, and alive, and right in front of her.

Ezra gaped, shocked. Seriously, his mouth could've dropped to the floor. He was speechless. How could this be possible? Another person! But...but...how!? He hardly even registered her touching his face. In his reverie, he leaned into her, staring hard into her eyes, their noses touching. "...a-are you here?" he choked out. This could be a dream! Just, a really vivid one.

Ana moved to nod her head, but she felt their noses rub up against eachother, and ceased the movement. "Y-yeah... Are you?" She asked in a half hearted attempt to add some humor or light-heartednes into the odd and shocking situation she never even dreamed she'd be in. She brought her other hand up to his face, and stood completely still.

"Yeah. I am." Or at least that's what he thought. But, how could he really be sure if there was no one else around, or so he thought. "Who are you?" he asked, his voice dropping to a whisper.

Ana took a healthy step back, "M-My name is Ana Jacques... And... And you?" She asked. It was hard to try and form a conversation, seeing as it had been a very long time since she had talked to someone. Her mind tried to access previous conversations she'd had before the plauge came and killed off everyone. She remembered how to talk, but the hard thing was the naturality. It would be an awkward conversation, if it even became one.

"Ezra...Ezra Hale." Definetly. Ezra had so many questions surging through his head it was hard to figure out where to start. She was obviously older and was there four years ago, but how did she survive the epidemic? Where was she all this time, too? Ezra had searched the city inside and out and he hadn't found a single person!

"Do you think... we're the last two...?" Ana asked, uncertainly. It was not her favorite question to ask, but it was a nessicary one. Maybe if he had some hope left, she could have some of his. Or if not, then she would at least have someone to discuss it with, which made her also happy. Rubbing her neck, she shifted her eyes to the ground for a moment.

Ezra blinked. "I-I don't know." he admitted. "I hardly even know how you're here! I thought....I didn't think that there was much possibilty of someone...." he trailed off.

Ana nods, "I know what you mean." She cracked a small, sad, smile. "Well, have you been here since..." She grimaced, "Then.", mentally scolding herself for her terrible choice of words. She clasped her hands behind her back, entertwining her fingers. She figured she was right, the conversation was going to be awkward.

"Yeah," Ezra said with a nod. "I have. But, I don't get it." he placed his hands on his hips, his eyes watching her carefully. "Ever since I've been looking through this whole city, and I haven't found a soul!" he exclaimed. "Where have you been? How come we're only just meeting now, four years later?"

Ana ran a hand through her hair. "I've been traveling. I was in Texas when the epidemic hit." She sighed, "Away from my family and friends. But I think it was better that way." She claimed, wistfully. "I just got here about four days ago, and this is the biggest city I've been in since Houston. Well, after the outbreak." Her mind wandered to whether or not her accent was showing through.

Ezra nodded, taking it all in. "I'm sorry," he told her, "I heard...it was worse in Texas..."

Ana gave a one-shoulder shrug, and slightly winced, "I'd rather not talk about it. It's over now." She said, the last part with a definite and slightly cold tone. "So, you've been here the entire time?" She asked, her mouth quirking slightly with the ghost of a smile. "And you haven't gotten bored, or seen every place at least twice? Or even ran out of food?"

"It's a big city..." Ezra said after a pause. "My time...get's occupied."

Ana raised an eyebrow, "What do you do for fun?" She asked. Often, what she did, was just think, and for fun, there were plenty of books around; empty Borders, town libraries, and such. Of course, she had to make sure that there weren't any... dead bodies in the vicinity, first, but when she found a good one, she picked up a couple books to occupy her time.
