Zara Malone, a small girl of only 19, rolled her wrists under the tight knots snaking around her arms. She stood in a line of at least fifteen other people, varying from about ten to...well...old. They were all attached by the the wrists through the same thick rope that was slowly rubbing Zara's wrists raw. Everyone's ankles were also loosely bound, knots wrapped around each ankle with about one foot of rope between to allow walking.

At the front of the line, a figure stood, tall and slender, though Zara could not see him clearly. Screwing up her face, her pretty features contorted, her thin drawn on eyebrows furrowing, her dull blue eyes focusing with all her might.

All around her there was noise, people. It was like some horrible carnival. There were people of all ages, dressed anywhere from a thin loin cloth to dresses right out of the Gregorian era. Never in her young life had she seen anything like this. The line of people she was forcibly a part of led up to a makeshift stage, a few wooden planks surrounded by people.

It was night, she could tell because the sky was dark, but Zara had no idea how late it was. The world was illuminated by a multitude of lights coming from giant stands high over head.

There were so many voices coming from everywhere, it was all Zara could do not to panic and start crying.

A pull on the rope around her wrists sent her spilling forward, tripping over the rope and landing on her knee on the stage. Looking up through her bright pink hair, she squinted up at the tall figure.

He was slender and had a tall hat, and a jacket with tails. Far too fancy for a place like this. The smile on his face was sickly sweet as he reached down and untied Zara from the others. Pulling her roughly to her feet, he ushered the girl to the center of the stage.

He held her by the shoulders, his thin hands freakishly strong, and Zara felt some sort of terror fill through her.

"This fine specimen," he paused, looking down at Zara's right arm, and read off the sharpie written on her arm, "Zara Malone, item 54742, is one of a kind."

She could feel his smile behind her, and she tried to focus around her. Her mind was pulled in too many directions, trying to figure out where she was, how she got here, and who the man was that was speaking about her.

"A young woman of 19, the prime of her mortal life. She has one minor imperfection, being that she is nearly blind. Do I have any takers?" The man's voice bellowed over the bubbling crowd.

A young man squinted. He wore no shirt and had just come back from a war. Large black and red tatooed wings covered the top of his back. He was well built. His dark hair covered one eye and the emerald eye that wasnt covered by his hair sparkled. He looked at this pink haired blind girl on the rugged wooden stage. He looked around at the crowd. Only one man raised his hand for this girl. October knew this man had many slaves and all were for sex. This pervert was going to use this girl then kill her most likely. October didnt like this man, he hated that vile smirk or those dark destructive eyes. October hated how he treated these poor unfortunate humans. October called out to the seller "I'll take her and I will top any price." Everyone turned to look at him. But no one challenged. He was well know by the people here and all around as a ruthless fighter and a 'war hero' to some. He smirked baring his pure white razor sharp fangs. when the pervert was about to challenged him. The man stopped and declined the bid.

Zara jumped at the strong voice. She couldn't see who it came from. Some figure just past where she could see.

The tall man shouted some more, but by now she was too distracted by getting shuffled off stage as the next moved on to listen to more. Stumbling over her ties again, Zara was moved to a bench on the side, where a dark and slender man waited to trade her for the money.

Twisting her head to look up at him, she jumped when he snarled at her, a smirk on his face.

Zara snapped her attention to her feet, eyes watering, a small whimper coming from her throat.

"untie her and be nice" October growled at the man "or i'll snap your neck, understand me?" October knelt down and looked into her pale blue eyes "are you at least able to see my outline?" He asked gently.

The girl jumped again when she realized the gentle voice was aimed at her. Blinking a few times, she focused on him.

'I'll snap your neck,' Echoed through her head. Who was this man?

Nodding slowly, her face remained blank. "I-I can see most of your face in this l-l-light." She stammered. He was so close, so...strange, she didn't know what to do.

"I told you to untie her" he snarled up at the man, a low growl in his voice "and if you hurt her, heed my warning"

"are you hurt? in any way?" He asked again gently, not wanting to startle her again.

Zara squirmed out of the ropes, tucking her feet under her and holding her hands tight before her.

"N-no," she replied.

Not normally one to stutter and be this timid, it even surprised herself. She tried to focus harder on the man, trying to see all of his details. He had very dark hair, covering part of his face.

"Where am I?"

"you, dear, are at a slave auction, do you remember what happened before you were tied up?" he asked sweetly. He checked her over and pushed a little of her bright pink hair back, revealing a little patch of blood.

Zara focused her eyes on her toes.

A slave. Auction? This made no sense. She was just bought. As a slave, to this man apparently.

She furrowed her pink brows, making a slight face. She shook her head. This can't be happening, she thought to herself.

"I...I don't really remember," she said meekly, turning her eyes in his direction.

"most are kidnapped" he said as kind as he could "it'll be alright" he smiled. He took her hand and helped her stand up. "I was walking by, I just got back and then I see you and how they were treating you. Plus I knew that for a blind slave, they are either bought raped then killed, or no one wants them and they will be terminated" he led her through the crowd.
