In the countryside of Japan, there is a small town, by the name of Takehiko. Well, it's little more than a village, really. Yet humble Takehiko is home to, as well as ordinary residents, an orphanage. Yes, such instititions do still dot this island nation.... This particular orphanage, known as Sho House, is humble enough, though its owners do try to do their best by the children who live there.
This is the story of two of those children, a boy and a girl. The boy was a few years older than the girl, yet they were fast friends; almost like adopted siblings. However, when the boy turned eighteen, he had to leave the orphanage, for that was the law. Making his way out into the broader world, he promised the girl that someday they would meet again, after he made his fortune. In the meantime, the two would keep in touch via correspondence.
Ten years have passed since then. The letters thinned, for a while, yet the memories remained. Now, the two have finally decided to reuite. What will it be like? What things will have stayed the same, and what will have changed? Only time can tell us....

(That works for me. If you're having a hard time finding one- at least, one that's not doing the scene/emo thing- check a site called Inmagine. It's the one I pretty much always use, as it's all stock photography.)

(You're welcome! A bit of advice- when you select your picture, right-click on it and go to "Properties" to copy and paste the URL from there. It's the best way to guarantee your image link won't get messed up. Me, I'll be ready as soon as I figure out her back story; mainly, what she did with her life since leaving the orphanage.)

Name: Masami Orochi (first name, last)
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Appearance: http://images.inmagine.com/img/imagesource/is098q2lq/is098qv5d.jpg
Background: Masami, like many others, went into the orphanage as a very small child. She was the mere age of two, in fact. Subsequently, she really has no memory of her parents, nor of any other family. No pictures, no stories, nothing. Thus, the closest she has ever come to a family was the other children in the orphanage. There was one in particular, a boy by the name of Daisuke. He was a few years older than her, sure, but the two became special friends. He was almost like her big brother, and when he turned eighteen and had to leave, she was intensely sad. Writing letters just wasn’t the same.
However, Masami kept herself going with the idea that someday, she would leave this place too, and they would meet again. She had always been a dreamer, after all. In the five years until she herself came of age, Masami largely kept busy with the arts, dabbling in writing and music and finally settling on art. However, one can’t just walk out into the world and become an artist. So right now, Masami works as a waitress in a coffee shop, painting and drawing on her own when she can, in the hopes of finding a means of making it into the art world someday.

(All righty, then!)

Masami was on her way home from work. She often did the night shift at the coffee shop, which meant it was the wee hours of the morning. The streets were well lit, and largely safe, but she hurried to get home all the same. Just to be sure. Besides, at this time of night, the young lady found herself eager for sleep.
Still, she heaved a sigh of relief as she entered her apartment. It was a little box of place, modest, but it was home. As she walked through, dropping her bag on her chair, she rifled through her mail. Masami stopped dead at the last envelope. She knew that hand.... And the name. "Daisuke," she whispered, fingers touching the paper lightly. It had been so long.... No longer worrying about sleep, Masami hurriedly opened the envelope, eager to see the contents.

(You decide what the letter says; feel free to basixally summarize, if you like. ;)

((xD okey...then let me think about the letter xD))

Daisuke had free weekend right now. He worked for it almost five months so he was at home. It was about few minutes ago when he woke up and gazed at the ceiling. He was thinking about Masami and if she got his letter yet. It wasn't nothing special but he was still re-reading it in his mind all over again.

Hi Masami,
it has been a long time since I contacted you, right? Well, I had a lot of work few last months and the last thing I wanted to do when I came back home was sleep. Anyway, if I count correctly you're suppose to be out of orphanage for about five years now. It's amazing how the time flyes. I got an idea, little one. What about if we'll meet somewhere? I have got a free week right now so I have got a lot of time. Think about it.
Daisuke

He had to smile for himself. He wasn't able to help himself when he wrote the letter but he had to use the name he was calling Masami when she was younger. Daisuke always liked to call her 'little one'.

Guendolen_Sama

Masami ducked her head, giggling with a bubbling sort of delight. He had always called her "little one" when they had been orphans together. How she could still remember so clearly the twinkle in his eye as he said it, the way he'd always ruffled her hair....
And now he wanted to meet again! Unable to wait until the next morning, Masami scrambled around to tug out a lap desk and a sheet of stationary to write her response.

Dear Daisuke:

I just got your letter today, big brother! It made me so very happy- more than you can possibly imagine. Yes, it has been such a long time! I would dearly love to see you sometime soon. Please, let me know what time is good for you, so we can arrange to meet. I can't wait to see your face again! You won't even recognize me after all this time, I'll bet. So I'll bring my favorite teddy bear- yes, believe it or not, I still have Kuma-chan! So tell me where you want to meet, and he'll be sitting next to me, so you'll know who I am. Thank you so much for writing, and I'll be counting the days until we meet again!

Affectionately,
Masami

Ever since she could talk, pretty much, Masami had called Daisuke "big brother." That's what he had been to her, in those lonesome years. The two had been thick as thieves, always together despite the gap in years. Thus, her excitement at meeting again filled her letter with effusive fervor. Granted, Daisuke knew her, and thus might well expect it. After all, that had always been Masami's way.
But now, letter written and addressed, Masami figured she had best get some sleep. She'd post the letter first thing in the morning, and then eagerly await the next response.

Daisuke got out of the bed and streched his body. He went over to the kitchen because he started to be hungry.
Maybe she got it already, he thought to himself with hope in his thoughts. He was curious how she looked like, how her face looked like when she read his letter. Daisuke had to admit that he missed Masami a lot. The little happy girl who was able to take away his sorrow and pain whenever she smiled or laughed.

Masami posted the letter almost as soon as she awoke the next morning, not even taking time to eat breakfast first. After all, she wanted to make absolutely certain he got it as soon as possible! Yes, she had awoken just as excited as she had been when she had finally succumbed to sleep the night before. Her shift was the afternoon one, today, so she had some time before work.
Masami figured she'd work on some art, to wile away her hours until then. As she worked, her mind wandered to Daisuke. The return address on the envelope had been pretty close, really. Meeting wouldn't be hard. Maybe he would even get it today! Masami giggled with delight at the thought. As she painted, her canvas was awash with bright splashes of vivid color, making a veritable rainbow. An illustration of her bright and joyous feelings.

Daisuke had his breakfast alread. After that he dressed to light blue trousers, black t-shirt with golden japanese dragon on it and leather jacket. Just in case it might start to rain so he won't get ill. And like this he left his house. Daisuke decided to have a little walk today since being closed in his own house was getting a bit boring.
Maybe she didn't get it yet or I used a wrong address, Daisuke was still thinking about the letter which he sent.

Masami heard the chiming of a clock, in the distance. Her window was open, and someone nearby had one.... She looked around at her own. Good heavens, she needed to get to work soon! Flying from her chair, Masami scrambled around, washing her hands (and, after a look in the mirror, face as well), throwing on her uniform, pulling her hair back.... Then she slung her bag over her shoulder and scrambled out the door, almost tripping down the stairs in her haste. If she hurried, she could make it right on time!

As Daisuke walked he was just passing some nice park so he decided to sit down and look around. The kids were happily playing together and their mums were looking after them. He knew this once. Just once and he couldn't get rid of this memory. The only thing his family left him. Daisuke sighed. Those kids were damn lucky and they didn't even know about it.

Guendolen_Sama

Masami ran past a park on the way to work. At the edge of hearing, the sound of small children playing after school registered. It was such a sweet essence, it made her smile. Even so, it was a bittersweet one. She'd never had such free, open innocence like that.... Innocence, to be sure, but when you were in an orphanage it was different. There was no parent to run to if you skinned your knee or another kid pushed you or whatever. Even staff who cared had too many other kids to focus on. Which was probably why kids often attached themselves to each other....
Masami smiled wider, at that thought. I hope he gets my letter today! She thought it was close enough to make it in one day. They didn't seem to be far apart at all, which in retrospect seemed strange. Why hadn't they reunited before?... Well, they were going to be together finally, and that was the important thing!

Daisuke watched the kids for a bit longer before his butt started to hurt so he got up. He was making a really good money in the club where he worked. He had his own house, fully-equipped and he planned on buying some car. Daisuke thought that he might buy one this week when he'll have a lots of time.
If I won't be with Masami, he thought happily and walked away from the park. He started to be a bit thirsty and he wanted to have a better rest than he had in the park. Probably in some coffee lounge?

"I'm here! I'm here!" Masami scrambled in the door of the coffee house, tripping a bit over the doorframe as she did so.
"Just in the nick of time!" one of her co-workers, Keiko, commented.
"Well, I got caught up in a painting!" And memories of the past....
Keiko grinned and shook her head. "You always do."
Masami swiped her card on the clock-in chart, then added her little apron and cap to her uniform dress before pinning on her name badge. "All right. Ready, set, wait!" Or waitress, rather.
Masami made her way over to the chart to see what tables she was assigned today, then set to work. It was a cute place, mostly coffee shop but with undertones of a cafe, serving food as well as a variety of beverages. It was mostly simply things, like sandwiches, soup, salad, and desserts, but it gave customers an additional option. The place was clean, with simple decorations that conveyed a homey atmosphere. All the waitresses wore cute dresses with little aprons and caps, to complete the atmosphere.
It wasn't a glamorous job, but Masami liked it. She liked seeing different people, talking to them, maybe getting little glimpses of who they were. Right now, the place wasn't that busy, but it would be so later. Either way, time to work!

((So is everything ok with you?))

After awhile Daisuke saw the cafe he was looking for. He liked it in there because waitresses in there were always nice and friendly. Not like in some other coffee lounges where an old waitress came to him and crossly hissed at him what he wanted to order. No, Daisuke definetely didn't like coffee lounges like this. But this one, where he was heading now, was really nice. He always liked the caps the women were wearing. And so he entered the place and then went to the cornor table where he used to sit all the time.

(As a whole, yes. Except that I need to go to bed in a few minutes. Sorry....)

Yes, business was definitely picking up. And Masami's energy seemed to be rubbing off on customers; she seemed to be leaving a line of smiles in her path. She'd always felt it was better to smile at the clientele, to make them feel welcome; but today, she felt especially bubbly, and it showed.
Oh, but there was a new customer! A solitary fellow at a corner table. Masami adjusted her little cap and bounced over, grinning from ear to ear. "Good afternoon!" she chirped. "My name is Masami, and I'll be taking care of you while you're here today. What would you like, sir?" After the introduction, she actually looked at him. And blinked. Wait. The shape of the eyes, the face.... It couldn't be. It simply couldn't.... But... it felt like.... "Daisuke?" she breathed, speaking out loud in spite of herself.

((Oh okey...I guess to see you tomorrow then :)))

Daisuke looked up at the girl who was just walking towards him and frowned. He knew her from somewhere. Maybe, she came to the club where he worked and he served her a drink. Maybe... But then when she introduced herself Daisuke felt like the whole world spinned around. His eyes went wide and he opened his mouth in a bit, in a surprise. When he found out how he probably looked like Daisuke shook his head and a wide smile appeared on his face. He hesitated for awhile before he got up and hugged Masami tightly and spinned around with her.
"My lovely, little one!" he said maybe a bit loudly, his voice full of happiness and he spinned around with her once more. "Oh god. I can't believe it's you. You've changed a lot," he added and stopped spinning around with but Daisuke was still holding Masami tight.

Masami let out a loud squeal of delight when the young man jumped up and hugged her. She laughed out loud, not caring about the stares of either her fellow workers or the rest of the customers. "It is you! It is, big brother!" she cried, hugging him back. "You've changed too, but I knew it was you all the same! Oh, I'm so happy to see you!" And she hugged him again, laughing with unfettered delight.

Daisuke wasn't laughing at all there was just a happy smirk on his face. He put every delight and joy into the hug. Daisuke hugged Masami for a bit longer before he pulled a bit away. He looked into her face. Oh, how he was happy to see those eyes again. He missed them so much. Then he made one step back.
"Oh god...make a turn for me Masami," he asked her and smiled. "You've changed a lot. You grew up into an adorable and irresistable young lady," he said and smiled even more. Yeah, Masami really changed a lot.

Guendolen_Sama
08-05-2009, 01:43 AM
Masami, by contrast, couldn't stop giggling. It was like a valve had opened inside, and unfettered joy was spilling forth. "As you say, big brother!" she said, and, giggling more, turned in a little circle for him. "Since you last saw me when I was thirteen, I'd imagine I'd have changed! I've gotten taller." She giggled again. Nor was that the only aspect of her that had developed. When they had last seen each other, Masami had been a young girl teetering on the cusp of adolescence. Now she was a woman grown, even if her energy was just as irrepressible. "Now you do one for me!" she said. "You haven't changed as much, but still...." He'd filled out. An eighteen year old was whipcord lean. Daisuke was definitely a man in full flower, now.

"As you wish," he said and made a round like some topmodel and then burst out laughing.
"Oh god. I can't believe that you're working here. I've been here for so many times and I didn't meet you," he said and his eyes were just happily sparkling. Masami was really beautiful woman. One of those Daisuke would remember if they'd stepped in his club.

Guendolen_Sama
08-05-2009, 04:00 AM
Masami laughed again. "You look like you'd fit right in on the catwalk!" she exclaimed. "But you've been here before? For real? I've worked here close to a year, but I've never seen you! Then again, I work more nights than anything else. Do you usually come in about this time?..." At that note, a voice cleared conspicuously behind her. Masami looked around and then fidgeted with her little cap, a slightly guilty look on her face. "Ooo. I need to get back to work.... But look, I get off in a couple hours. Want to get together after that? And I promise I'll take extra-special care of you while you're here!" She was also going to give him his order on the house, though he wasn't to know that just yet.

(Sorry, you got me just as I'm about to go to bed. I'll have to see you tomorrow....)

Daisuke was about to answer when someone decently cleared his throat to gain the attention. He looked back at Masami and nodded.
"I sure will be here. I am not going to lose you when I've found after all those years," he said to her sincerely and returned back to his seat, rubbing the back of his head.
"Ok, young lady. I would like one Latte Vanilla, please," he said like a guest would say it to a waitress but his smile was more than knowing.

Guendolen_Sama

Masami ducked her head a bit, positively glowing with joy. It had been so long, and then to finally find her old frind this way? It was like something out of a movie. "One latte vanilla it is! Will there be anything else? We have a special today on apple pies." Always good to share treat specials, right? Best at least try to be by the book, given how the manager was watching her.

"Not now. Maybe later," he replied still smiling. It was good to see Masami again. Daisuke was so much looking forward to the end of her work. They will probably take a walk and then they might go to his or hers home and talk about what they did all those years.

((I am really sorry for not letting you know but I had a lot of work and some problems...so I really wasn't able to be on))

Daisuke was waiting in front of the coffee lounge. And yes, he had an apple pie in about ten minutes later. It was delicious. Actually, Daisuke was more excited by the near future which he will spend with Masami. He looked at his watch to check the time. It wasn't really late at all.

Guendolen_Sama
08-29-2009, 03:35 PM
(I understand that. Glad you're back now, though!)

Time passed, as did Masami's shift. She got Daisuke his apple pie- on her tab. She wanted to do something special for him; a welcome-back treat, as it were. All the rest of her time in the shop, she was bubbly, buoyant, glowing with joy and excitement. All right, so Masami was naturally a happy person. But today she was brimming over.
Masami could barely maintain any sort of composure when it was time to clock out. She did so, then barely took the time to whip off her apron and little cap before fairly running to meet Daisuke. "Here I am!"

(I'm okay.)

Masami squealed with giggles at the hug, squeezing back. It just felt too good, too natural. Almost like no time had passed. Except that well... they were both grown up, now. "Let's walk until we see someplace we'd like to go," Masami suggested. "I love taking long walks.... No reason to hurry- unless you have somewhere you have to be later, of course."

Soul_Hunter

"That's really good idea," agreed Daisuke and started to walk.
"Well, I have got nothing to do this week so I'm free," he said after a while and was smiling for himself. "What about if we'll go to cinema some time when you'll be done with your work?" he asked Masami. It really felt normal talking to her, offering her to join him some of the evenings.

"You're free? Oh, I can have you all to myself, then!" Masami giggled as she said that, clearly not be entirly serious on the subject. Instinctively, she hooked her arms through one of his, snugging it, just like she had when she was a little girl. "I'd love to go see a movie with you sometime, though. What sort do you like? I like many kinds. I like comedies, and romances, and art films...."
