The Labyrinth 2: New Lessons Learned

Sarah has grown up now and has three children of her own; her eldest, Alice, has taken up in what her mother used to be interested in. Plays, Musicals, Operas, EVERYTHING, she's facinated by it all, especially the play: The Labyrinth.....she is so transfixed on it that she disreguards her mother's warnings of not trying her own magic to go to the 'forbidden land' of the goblin city.......

Jareth sighed. It had been years since Sarah had escaped from his grasp...but he hadn't forgotten her. In fact, he thought of her all the time. And of her dreadful parting words: 'You have no power over me!' Those damned words were the only ones he heard these days. They repeated themselves over and over in his head, and no matter how he tried, he could not erase them. "Dammit!" he yelled, throwing a crystal ball against the throne-room wall, watching it shatter. "I offered her the world, and she turned it all down!" he yelled, singling out a random goblin minion to take out his anger upon, and he profusely shook it as he spat insults.

Alice was getting fed up with her mother...'do this...' and 'do that'....'because i'm your mother' was always a retort. She sat out in her garden. "I wish that Jareth was real...that way he could take me away like he took uncle Toby...." she sat her mother's old book. She had heard stories when she was little about Jareth the Goblin King and she remembered what her mother said that made the goblins take Uncle Toby from her. "i wish the goblins would come take me away....right now.." she said with spite. This place wasn't for her, too many cliques and too much stereotypes.

Jareth's eyes widened as he heard familiar word spoken by an unfamiliar tongue. "Wha-?" He released the poor goblin and disappeared, reappearing in front of the girl whom spoke the words. "Hnn..." he said, looking her up and down. "So you're the one who spoke the words, are you?"

Alice gasped and stumbed backwards against her skirt. "w-who are you?..." She looked him up and down also...."y-your him aren't you.....the Goblin King...." She couldn't believe she was stuttering like a school girl but she couldn't move...her eyes were just so transfixed on his.

He narrowed his eyes. "Well of course I'm the Goblin King! You did call me, did you not!?" he snapped. Jareth sighed. "I don't know how you know, but I'm here to take you away to my Labyrinth. Are you willing?" He asked, offering her his hand.

"Most definitely..." Alice smiled and took his hand. "I know about you from my mother...Sarah...and that..." she pionted to to the small book that rested still on the stone bench...."I'm Alice.."

"S...Sarah?" Jareth asked, his eyes looking into Alice's. He shook it off. "No matter. Away we go." He said envoping them both in his large cape. When the cape dropped away, it revealed the inside of a large castle.

Alice ran to the window smiling. She felt the gentle breeze hit her face and she saw all the goblins down below. She giggled lightly; this was what she'd dreamed of. "i can't belive i'm finally here..." she whispered to herself. She turned to Jareth, still smiling, "thank you for this, i just couldn't stand my mother's pestering any longer...and i always wondered what it would be like to meet you.."

"What exactly...did Sarah say of me?" It was a stupid question, and stupid to hope that she had so much as kind friendship towards him...but that question had been nagging at the back of his mind for a while...wondering just what she thought of him.

"she said you were handsome, which i might add is an understatement, powerful, a bit of demon to be dealt with, but i'd say goblin's more like it....get it...like a goblin-goblin king..." Alice said....but sighed.."she said also that you were a real git to her when she tried to get Uncle Toby back...making time go faster, distracting her, sending her wrong ways.....but she always had told me i was like her, and i hated it....she didn't know what she'd have been missing....all the sights and sounds....it's more peaceful here than back home...." then she thought, 'and i never really fit in anywhere else...'

"Interesting..." Jareth mumbled. "Anyway, how do you like castle? You may explore it inside and out, and you may wander into the Labyrinth if you dare." He said, a smile upon his features.

"like hell i will...the way my luck runs...i'd get stuck into one of those eublietes...and i don't take it lightly if i get tricked if i mark a way i came..nice try though, but i'm sure you wouldn't want to get rid of me so quickly.." Alice said..."my mother told me stories of this place when i was a little girl. I had always wanted to come here."

"Well, now that you're here," Jareth smiled, "What do you wish to do?"

"sorry about this, but....would you be out of the question?.." Alice bit her lower lp nervously, anticipating the answer....

Jareth blushed. "Uh...w-what...?" He cleared his throat, regaining his composure. The Goblin King wasn't supposed to blush. He sighed. "I could, uhn...take you for a tour around the castle or...s-something."

"i guess i could settle for that..." Alice smiled and hugged him with a small contented sigh....

This was a little uncomfortable for the Goblin King, and he made that quite clear as he squirmed around. He sighed. "Where shall we go? The castle? The labyrinth, or the Goblin City?" 'She sure is different than her mother...much more straightforward...and she actually enjoys my company.' He thought. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad...

"i'd like to look at the castle first, if it's not any trouble for you.." Alice giggled lightly. She just loved this...her mother couldn't tell her no anymore..

Jareth nodded, heading to his throne room. As they walked into it, he noticed the broken crystal to the far wall. 'Forgot I threw that...' he thought, and hoped the girl wouldn't notice.

Alice looked around.."it's just as i dreamed...." she whispered and saw the broken crystal..."i take it that you were a little pissed off" she said picking up one of the pieces...

"Correct." He said, giving her only that as he silently reminisced about when she was. "It's been quite...lonely." He said, choking on the last word. He was the Goblin King, he had all of his subjects, why should HE of all people be lonely?

"alone in a crowd....my little sisters won't leave me alone and tell me how to be 'better'......my friends talk about me behind my back...." Alice said..."and my mother....has me do my sisters's chores because...'they're too young to understand'.....and if that isn't her answer it's...'because i'm your mother....' "

"well....i'm the eldest child.....and i knew knew mother longest....obviously.....but she said i was like her......and i hated it....." Alice said holding some of the glass and ended up pricking her finger..."yeouch!" she said dropping the pieces and sucked on her pointer finger, which had gotten cut...

((i say that almost all the time....'yeouch'....like yee and ouch......^^))

Jareth chuckled. "No need to appologize. You're not the only one around here..." He said, tearing a bit of cloth from his cape and wrapping it, like a bandage, around Alice's finger.
