Walking into the classroom, Ben kept his nose buried in his newest book, practically absorbing it. He was deeply interested in the plot line. A high school boy falls in love with his class mate? How ironic... he peeked up to see if Sei was there yet, looking back down quickly before stumbling over to his seat, pushing his glasses up his nose with his free hand.

"No, that's quite alright." Sei protested, trying to ignore the usual group of girls who, for the love of Patrick, kept freakin' petting him. They were less rabid today at least, he could actually get to class. With a small sigh of relief he took his usual seat near the window.

Ben sat down behind him, managing to keep his book in place the whole time. Practice does make perfect. He sighed and turned the page, licking his thumb lightly. "Morning Sei." he said quietly, pushing his glasses up again. "How are you today?"

Sei's ears twitched a little before he turned slightly, resting his elbow on the other's desk. "Morning Ben," he said with a soft smile. Good ol' Ben, not one of the idiots who taunted him, not a fangirl, just simply there and friendly. "I'm good, you?"

"I am well." he replied, not looking up. He turned another page carefully, peering over the edge to look at Sei with dark blue eyes. "How is your morning fairing so far?" he gave the closest thing to a smile he could manage. Leaning over, he dug around in his book bag until he pulled out a thermos. Opening it, he took a drink. "Would you like some coffee?"

"No thanks, new kind of diet actually." Sei said sheepishly. Damn Shiro, he wasn't actually even his older brother, more like a friend in college but apparently "coffee could somehow have the effects of catnip" so his precious coffee was no more. Well then again, catnip did have some nasty effects that one time......

He shrugged and took another drink. "More for me then." he said simply and turned back to his book. "Did you manage to finish the homework from last night?" he asked, pushing his hair back from his forehead. It really was getting to long...

He gave a small nod, ears twitching briefly. Sei gave an annoyed sigh. "Sorry." he muttered, "Can't control them." It bothered him to no end when they would twitch at everything for no reason at all. Apparently it was due to change in a pitch in the person's speakings voice. Try blending in when they kept doing that, not easy.

Ben looked up. "I don't mind it at all. I find it rather endearing." he gave a slight smirk. "In fact, I'm rather jealous that you have something so unique about you." he set the book down fully for the first time, closing it quickly. "They match your personality. Not that you're twitchy. You just seem to be very alert of everything around you."

Sei smiled softly. "Your pretty perceptive yourself." he said quietly, blushing faintly as he figured he sounded like such a girl. "Your probably the only one here who doesn't only care about them."

[HotokoHoshi]

"Then again I'm probably the only one with more than ten brain cells." he added, looking at Sei's ears. "It's not that I don't care about them...it's just I have the decency not to spend my whole time staring at them. Besides...you're more interesting than a pair of ears. I'd much rather just talk to you."

"I'm not all that interesting." Sei said bluntly. "But it seems to me that I tend to fascinate people rather easily, they always ask all of these random questions at random."

[HotokoHoshi]

"You're much more interesting than me." he said plainly, pushing his glasses up. "Most people tend to avoid me. In fact, you're the first person to actually talk to me outside of class assignments since elementary school." he moved and took another drink of his coffee.

[aerith-cullen]

"I don't see why, your interesting. Always reading, mysterious almost." he stated. "You ever think it's because they aren't interesting that they don't talk to you?"

[HotokoHoshi]

"Hm?" he asked. "Reading all the time makes me interesting?" he laughed and looked at him. "you are a strange one Sei. Saying things like that." he studied his face for a moment.

[aerith-cullen]

Sei gave a pout. "I'm not strange, I'm just me. And if accepting who I am makes me strange then I don't want to be normal......If that makes any sense at all."

[HotokoHoshi]

He laughed again and looked at him. "You're funny Sei." he moved and stood up, pulling his book bag over his shoulder. "I'll talk to you later. I gotta go do some stuff." he laughed softly.

He gave a small nod, turning back around. He wondered what he did do in the mornings, with himself being in advanced classes with the seniors he had his first period off. Maybe he'd follow....just this once.

Ben walked out of the classroom, heading towards the library. He wondered if the new shipment of books had arrived yet. Opening the door, he paused for a moment, looking over his shoulder. He stepped inside and walked down the stairs into the deeper parts of the library, tucking his hands into his pockets. He felt relaxed when he was here, maybe it was all the books...

Sei followed silently, keeping his distance away from him as he ducked behind a nearby bookcase. What was he doing in here? He chewed his bottom lip slightly, glancing at the other male. Humans could be so strange.

He walked further and further into the library until he found a dark and comfortable corner, sitting down in one of the cushy chairs. Sighing, he pulled off his glasses and set them on the table, grinning. "Come on out Sei." he called quietly. "You may be a neko, but you suck at sneaking around."

Sei pouted, looking to him before emerging from his hiding place. "Sorry, I was curious." he said, sitting down in front of him, his tail swaying slightly.

[HotokoHoshi]

He pushed his glasses back on and actually managed to give the other male a smile. "I come here to take my naps when I have free time." he explained. "Satisfy your curiosity?"

[aerith-cullen]

"Not entirely." he stated, tail swishing across the carpet idly. "What were you reading earlier? I couldn't help but notice you blushing a little. Please tell me your not sneaking porn in." he said flatly.

[HotokoHoshi]

Ben laughed and shook his head, looking at Sei. "No it wasn't porn." he said. "It was a book about Nekos."

[aerith-cullen]

Sei's ears perked up slightly. "What about them?" He almost used the word 'us' but it didn't seem appropriate for the current situation.

[HotokoHoshi]

He opened his bag and pulled out the book, looking at him. "Read it if you like." he said, holding it out. "Right now...I'm on a chapter about...um...mating."

[aerith-cullen]

For once he was able to stifle his curiousity with a slight blush. "Why would you want to know about that?" he asked, almost nervously. Sure their were other neko's in school but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of suspiscion.

[HotokoHoshi]

"It's a book about Neko rituals. And this was one of the chapters." he explained slowly. "I was just wondering about you..."

[aerith-cullen]

"Well why didn't you just ask?" Sei asked, pouting slightly. "I wouldn't have minded unless you were really persistant about something I didn't want to talk about." Like sex for that matter.

[HotokoHoshi]

"These are more formal ones. I wanted to be able to actually talk to you about them without being totally lost." he replied, setting the heavy book aside.

[aerith-cullen]

Sei nodded in understanding. "Why so curious? I'm part cat, I have more of their instincts than that of a human's, there's not a whole lot of difference."

[HotokoHoshi]

Ben shrugged. "But the Nekos have developed a completely different culture that is so interesting. From what i read, your people spend years finding the right mate."

[aerith-cullen]

Sei shrugged. "There's a lot to look for, after all, a mother would want to know she picked someone not only that will give her children, but love and protection as well."

[HotokoHoshi]

"Not only that, most Nekos mate for life." he said, opening the book. "Child care...all of it is amazing."

[aerith-cullen]

He nodded. "We also can be a tad.....protective." he added, ears twitching slightly. "Of our mates and ourselves."

[HotokoHoshi]

Ben looked up at him. "How protective?"

[aerith-cullen]

"Like....." he trailed off, thinking about it. "We look after eachother, and don't have any eyes for else."

[HotokoHoshi]

"Oooh...so like soul mates?" he looked at Sei. "Do you have someone like that?"

[aerith-cullen]

"Er.....well no, but I can't honestly say I'm not looking." he said, blushing faintly. "Male mates are umm.....easier to find usually."

[HotokoHoshi]

Ben nodded. "So you're looking for a male mate?" he asked, sounding genuinely curious. "Have you found anyone?"

[aerith-cullen]

"Not yet, I'm still looking." he said with a shrug. "I'm picky."

[HotokoHoshi]

He nodded. "Let me know if you ever find anyone." he said, shrugging.

"Well......actually, I've had a few people in mind, none that would be as open as you are." Sei said, glancing to the floor.

"What do you mean? Are they not Nekos?" he blinked, sounding surprised.
