Chachi leaned over, and wrapped his arms around Raffy, and rested his chin lightly on Raffy's shoulder, or head, whichever doesn't make him break his back from leaning over too much.

Mizuki looked at Raffeal then said,"He went looking for Kya...He's in the woods &...I have to be going now to go look for him.".Mizuki got to her feet then walked outside & headed to the woods to try one more time

The heavy door swung open easily, though Kya choked on the stale air laden with dust inside. A table scattered with papers sat in the middle of the dimly lit room. A set of stairs to the right lead up to a balcony lined with dirty and cracked windows. The building appeared empty.

Lucky for her, Kya didn't take looks for granted.

Mizuki took a deep breath then looked up at the full moon then nodded & looked forward then walked into the woods,pushing her way past all the branches & dodging the high ones

Kya had never really thought about killing before. She was glad her brain was turned off now. Already three were dead at her hands, bones broken, bodies singed.

Of course, they'd recognized her right away.

"You like just like your mother," came the first voice from behind her as a cord was wrapped aroun her neck and pulled tight.

A second a panic, a moment of realization, an instant of heat, and the cord was a pile of ashes. The man backed away, cursing his burned finger tips.

Kya whirled on him, her eyes blazing. He stared at her in surprise, though he never got a word out before the fire hit him full force i the chest, and he dropped. Dead.

Mizuki pushed a branch out of her way then another one beside it scratched her face & she put her hand over her cut."I'm getting all scratched up...",she said then put her hand on a tree so she could try & make-out what was ahead of her

Raffaels happy face turned sad quickly.

''She died? I'm so sorry I wasn't here! What happened?'' he hugged Chachi, his eyes were wide and sympathetic.

"It's ok... she'd been sick for a while... all the girls on her side of the family seemed to do that... get sick easily..." Chachi said, resting his forehead on Raffy's shoulder.

There was another one behind her. She knew it. She hadn't spent the past three weeks training to be killed by some idiot who thought he was sneaky. She feigned a left turn, then spun right, knocking his feet out from beneath him. She leapt on top of him, pinning him to the floor, her eyes glowing dangerously.

"What do you want from me?" she asked, panting slightly. "Why won't you leave me alone? I was only a child? What could I have done?"

The man sneered at her, though she could see fear in his eyes. "I'll never tell you a thing, girl. You'd best kill me now and set to take care of the others."

Kya slowly pushed one flaming hand into his throat. It wouldn't kill him, she knew, but he cried out in agony. "Did you kill my parents?" she asked coldly.

But before he could answer, a searing pain tore through her right shoulder. She screamed and jumped away. The man on the floor was dead-a bullet through his heart. Touching her shoulder, her own hand came away red and sticky. She turned around slowly, to see...

Step by step, paw by paw, Sai neared the boy's voice, cursing himself for letting the three of them get seperated. IF something had happened to either of the two kids, he'd.......

Kya stood slowly, hands up, unable to take her eyes of the barrel of the gun inches in front of her nose. Dead bodies lay all around her-all that remained of the assassins who'd killed her parents. Or so she thought.

But no. A single man stood in front of her, a casual smirk on his face. He stood about six foot four, with steel gray eyes and short cropped hair to match. For someone pointing a gun at a teenage girl, he seemed incredibly nonchalant. He sneered at her.

"You called?"

Mavrick quickly and gracefully ran over to Mizuki and held her up.

''You ok Shug?'' he asked.

*Are you guys alright? Should I take you back?* he asked.

But this man was the reason she'd been alone and on the run since the age of two. This man was why she had no family, and why she was running away from her new friends. This man was the reason she would never see Sai again. Hot hatred boiled inside her.

However, this man had killed her parents. The two most powerful fire mages in this whole world, if their tombstones were correct. What chance did she, a lonely teenage girl, stand against him?

"I expect you want to learn about your parents?" he said in a cold voice.

She didn't answer. She knew he knew what she wanted.

The man shrugged. "Just like your mother. Stubborn and stupid. You don't have to die, you know. I don't have to kill you. I'm sure we could work something out..." he finished, his eyes wandering.

Sai raised an eyebrow. Any other night, he'd have made a joke. But not tonight. Nothing seemed all that funny when you were missing someone like Kya...

Then, to Mavrick and Mizuki, he said, *Follow me. I think I know where she went.*

Kya sighed. "You're going to kill me anyway, right? I want to know about my parents. Why did you kill them? Why do you want to kill me?"

The man stared back at her for a moment then smiled. "Smart, too," he said. "Don't get me wrong. You're parents were great people. But, you know what power does to people. I figured, hey, if they could do it, why couldn't I? They weren't easy to kill, you know. Especially not your mother. She was strong. Very strong. All about getting you to safety, she was. She'd just sent you and that damn cat off somewhere when I reached her. That was the only reason I even managed to sneak up on her."

Kya snorted. "You killed her from the back? Coward. You're nothing but a weak coward." Suddenly, she found herself on the ground, her head bleeing now as well as her shoulder.

"You're in no position to judge, Missy," the man snarled. His smirk was gone, replaced with cold anger.

Missy, thought Kya, thinking of Mavrick. Her eyes welled with tears, but she blinked them away. You're doing it for him, she thought. Don't go soft now, or he dies. Him and Sai and Mizuki, and everyone else. You owe this to them, if not to your parents.

Sai somehow reached the clearing, his heart pounding faster with each step. He didn't want to believe it, but she knew she'd gone back. He could see her footprints straight up the the still-smoking hole in the ground. He walked to the edge of the hole and sat, stock still for a moment, considering the magnitude of the situation. Surely she would die on the other side. She'd be ambushed and killed and...

Somewhere inside of him, Sai was aware is brain had shut off, and there were two kids behind him, waiting for orders. But he couldn't make his body obey. He just sat there, staring at the Gate, still as a statue.

"Yes, I killed her. She begged for mercy, too, the b*tch." The man sneered down at her, his voice ragged with hatred and anger. "but nothing, compared to your father. You should have heard him cry, begging with me. PLEADING for his own life. He was no man."

Kya was shaking with anger. Suddenly, it didn't matter that the man held a gun to her head. "You're lying," she whispered. "I don't believe you. You're lying!" Her voice shook with rage.

The man laughed coldly. "Believe what you want, my dear. But the truth is your parents were nothing but gutless cowards."

Without even realizing it, Kya had stood, knocked the gun out the the man's hand, and pressing him against the wall within seconds. Hot pwoer coursed through her body. She'd never felt like this before. As if through someone else's eyes, she looked at the Killer. He look terrified. She could only imagine what she must've looked like just then. Somehow, the thought that she was caring this man, that she could easily kill him, made her happy.

It scared her.

Mavrick blinked. He couldn't imagine what Raffael had to say. He wondered what the meeting was about and why he couldn't go. He wondered why Raffael hadn't seeked him out, or ever called back, and he wondered what was happening to Kya.

This time, it was the man who shook with fear. Kya could see it through the stranger's eyes.

"Look," he pleaded. "I'll...I'll do anything. Your parents really were reat people. And you're right. I was lying. I am a coward. Please, let me go."

"Let you go?!" screamed Kya. "Let you go? You killed my family, sent me away, called my parents cowards, lied to my face and SHOT me, and you want me to let you go? What do I owe to you? You think I'm afraid to kill you, even after I've killed all your men? No! You've just made it easier for me." Her grip on his neck tightened.

"Please!" cried the man, tears flowing down his face. "I'll leave you alone! No one will ever come after you again, I can promise you that! I'll leave, and no one will ever here from me. I'll change my name, move to a different world-"

"Stop it!" screamed Kya. "You! You're the coward! You always were! It was you're weapons that gave you power! You are weak!"

"YES!" sobbed the man, willing to agree to anything, if only to live. "Yes, I am weak! I am a weak coward! I can do nothing to harm you! Please! Let me go!"

Suddenly, Kya's dual personality dissapeared, the rage and anger with it, at least for the moment, and replaced with disgust. She dropped the man, staring down at him with cold eyes. "No. You're not worth it. Go. Leave now and never return. If I EVER see you again, I will kill you, no question asked."

"Thank you!" he sobbed, grovelling. "You are truly merciful! Thank you, thank you. You will never see me again, I promise."

Kya turned her back on him, digusted by his whining.

And that was her mistake.

Mizuki stared at the black hole with curiousity."What is that?",she asked.*I don't remember a hole like that here when I was a kid...And I knew these woods like the back of my hand then...*she thought to herself

Ratori sat on the window sill, dangling his feet over the edge, carelessly. He leaned back on BOTH his arms, and sighed. He was quite happy about the abscence it the apartments. Though both he, and Seria were curious as to where everyone had gone. But Ratori stopped caring after a while.


He began to wish he was back in his world. He relived many memories of war-fare and conquests. Most of which he enjoyed, some were painful to relive.
