Mavrick examined the food from every angle, then he took a bite, and tossed the food around in his mouth, his eys closed. Then he took another bite and another until it was soon finished.

Mizuki ran into her room then closed the door & threw off her clothes then changed into her costume.

Kya had been lying on her back staring at the ceiling for hours. She was pretty sure she'd picked out just about all of the shapes in the stucco by now. She looked around at her dark room. Her empty room. She shut her eyes, and opened them, glowing blue. It helped her see in the dark, but not much. Worried, she tried to form a flame in her palm--it was hardly more than that of a match.

She couldn't do ANYTHING without Sai.

She sat up slowly on her bed, wondering if it would be too far fetched to make "LOST" posters. Not that anyone's gonna find him if he doesn't want to be found, she thought, blinking away tears.

Mizuki woke to the sun shining in her face ((That's VERY bright in a completly white room!)).Mizuki stared at the ceiling for awhile then her alarm clock went off.She looked over at the red numbers then sighed."I beat you...",she said then sat up then put her face in her hands then yawned."A new day...",she whispered then got out of her bed then walked over to her closet & grabbed her school uniform then stopped before she pulled it out fully.

She stared at her uniform then placed it back & looked at the ground."I don't feel like school today....",Mizuki said then looked back into her closet."Something simple....",she said not really feeling like picking out an outfit then she closed her eyes & picked something out then pulled it off the hanger.She looked at the simple white dress then shrugged & walked over to her dresser then grabbed some white shorts to put under it then she changed into it.

It had been hours since she'd last eaten, but she didn't care. Somehow, she wasn't hungry. She wasn't even sure why she was down here. Perhaps she'd been vaguely hoping she'd find Sai...

She walked as if she were a zombie. If there were people speaking to her, she didn't hear them.

Sai, she thought. I want Sai-

Her thoughts were broken as she tripped over something on the floor. She almost ignored it, went back upstairs, but something compelled her to turn around. She looked and saw she'd tripped over.....Mavrick.

Kya blinked. It took her brain a moment to process this information. Then--

"Oh, my-Mavrick! What the h*ll are you doing?" She knelt and tried to shake him awake. He only groaned. Worried, she felt his forehead. He was burning up. Sh*t, she thought.

Running to the sink, she soaked a dish towel in cold water, all thoughts of Sai mercifully replaced with her sick neighbor. Kneeling next to him again, she squeezed the cold water over his face.

Kya walked back into the hotel, soaked to the bone and shaking. She had looked for hours in the driving rain...and still no Sai. She'd tortured herself with thoughts of him: of him shivering, soaked in the rain, lost, hurt, a whole number of terrible things. If something happened to him, she didn't know what she would do. He'd been her only friend since before she could remember. And he was more than that...a brother, a father....a family. She couldn't bear the thought that he was gone. It broke her heart.

She wandered into the empty lobby and sat on the couch, not caring if her sodden clothes ruined the material. She figured if Sai didn't come back soon, she'd leave anyways. Cold rain drops ran down her face and stung her eyes. Her wet hair dripped on her shoulders. She was still shaking, but she couldn't tell whether it was from the cold or crying.

Memory came flooding back to her, and with it, her nightmares from the previous night. She squeezed her eyes shut, not wanting to think about what she'd dreamt. For a moment, she didn't know what had woken her up and she was about to drag herself upstairs to get warm, when she heard it.

*Kya...* It was so faint she almost ignored it....until she realized where it was coming from.

"I've got to go find Sai," she told them, glancing out the window. It was still raining. She didn't care. She'd found Sai, and that was all that counted. "I'll be back."

With that, she turned and ran for the door. Sai had said he was in the somewhere in the forest about a mile from the apartment. ((If there wasn't one, there is now. I'll figure it out later.)) She ran the whole way there, choking on rain water.

She pushed her way through the sodden trees, wet branches whipping her in the face.

"Sai!" she screamed over the rain. "Where are you?" She stumbled through the forest for another ten minutes, calling his name desperately. She was beginning to lose hope when she heard a roar, and grinned. She'd know that roar anywhere.

*I heard you. I'm coming.* And as much as she knew Sai's voice, she could read it just as well (that wasn't a good sentence >.<). She knew he was hurting and tired. She ignored thoughts of what might've happened to him and ran faster. A moment later she entered a big clearing amidst the tall wet trees. It was a circle of burned tree stumps. Everything pointed to a recent fire, though not a natural one. There were patches of burned grass here and there, and smoke was still rising from a dark patch of earth where there was no grass left. The smoke was...red. But there was no time to worry about that. Sai was lying on his in the middle of the clearing, his fur sticking to him.

Kya ran to him and buried her face in his wet fur.
