Though she doesn't tell hardly anyone, the reason for the divorce was that Riley's father was very abusive towards her and her mother. Because of this she's become somewhat of a loner and doesn't trust people easily, mostly because of her fear of being hurt like she was before.

"Great....is this schoolyear ever going to end?" Moaned Riley to herself as she walked down the nearly deserted street. By this time of the year she was pure sick of school, and she'd be perfectly happy if she never had to set foot in any school building again. However, that was a bit of an impossible wish so all she could do was continue to tolerate the crowds that seemed to have it in for her one way or another.

"Dang the sun is up again?" He winsed his eyes and sat up shirtless in his bed, "Stupid sun," he looks at his clock and gets up, "Time for work." He sighs and puts on his work clothes and heads out the door.

Just as she passed a store window, Riley stopped long enough to glance at what was inside. True she wasn't much of a shopper but looking in the windows every now and then wasn't to much trouble, plus it kept the walk home a bit interesting sometimes.

When he reaches his office he throws hiself into his chair and props his feet on his desk, I hate this job he thinks to himself staring out the window.

Once she was done with her window shopping, Riley stole a quick glance at her watch. "Oh crap I'm going to be so late!" She almost shrieked as she began running as fast as possible, while trying to avoid the many people now walking along the sidewalk. She was suppose to be meeting her mother at the small florist shop she ran at 4:30, and it was already 4:20 by the time she started running at full speed towards the store.
However she was quite good at being a fast runner as she shot past the office building where Andrew was currently working, not even bothering to pay any attention to anyone as she raced past the building.

"Whoa was that?" He got up and looked down the street. "Nah.."he sat back in his seat and looked out the window again.

Zillah sighed and walked up to the chik-fil-a counter and ordered a large sweet ice-tea. she knew it wasn't normal for vampires to like that kind of stuff but she couldn't help it! once she had paid for the drink she walked around the mall and stoped infront of one of the stores staring in.

"Made it! Wow I actually broke my record." Said Riley to herself as she glanced at her watch again before walking inside her mother's store. As usual the front was somewhat devoid of life, save for the plants, but Riley didn't pay that much attention as she threw her backpack behind the counter before sitting on a stool near the cash register. True there wasn't much of a chance that anyone would be coming in here this time of day, but you could never tell what would happen.

When Andrew finally reached home he dropped his box on the floor next to his bed and flopped onto his bed closing the blinds. "It feels good to be out of there," He changed out of his old work clothes into just a jeans and a t-shirt, and walked downtown to the town.
He soon reached downtown and it all felt new to him, he passed a flowershop and saw Riley, he stepped inside to say hi.

After connecting to the Internet she quickly brought up her Myspace account and checked for any emails from her online friend. "Nothing new, darn! Oh well guess I'll see what they've been up to." Said Riley as she typed out a quick email and hit send before clicking out and hoping that she'd get a reply sometime soon. Then again, sitting here waiting wasn't helping much so she clicked on her solitare game while keeping an eye out for any potential customers.

Riley glanced at the clock in irritation, but at least the one good thing was that she didn't really have to stay put until closing. Still she didn't have much of anything else to do this time of day so either way she always ended up stuck here.

"Sorry about your luck, well I just quit my job, anyway I could get one here? Men can work with flowers too and still be manly." he protested flexing his musles.

Riley quickly stifled a giggle behind her hand before she finally answered Andrew. "I don't see why not, though I will warn you this place can be pretty slow at times."

"Eh..thats ok as long theres a computer in arms reach and enterent on it, its cool with me." Andrew sees and apron and puts it on. "How do I look? It doesn't make my butt look big does it."

This time Riley didn't even bother hiding her laughter as she held onto the counter to keep from falling off of her seat. "Yes there's a computer here and it does have a internet connection. As for how you look in that apron, you don't look horrible if that's what you're asking." Said Riley once she was able to talk without laughing.

He chuckeld, "Thanks now I feel fat!" Andrew pouted, putting his elbows onto the counter. "Now seriously I can really get a job here?"

"Yes I'm serious, in all honesty we've been looking for someone to hire so you pretty much came in at the perfect time."
Riley propped her head on her hands but still kept a bit of distance between her and Andrew.

"I'm bored scooch over!" Andrew pushed Riley onto the floor, and went to his myspace account.

"Hey! That was my seat thank you very much!" Riley stated irritably as she grabbed another stool and placed it next to Andrew's. "By the way, you haven't told me your name yet."

It was clear she hadn't fallen for Andrew's little joke, even if she had tried to keep that to herself.

"Oh I know you didn't look at my profile!" Hissed Riley as she dove for the computer before Andrew could read anything else.
Mainly her online journal which she didn't want ANYONE to read, considering what she'd saved there.

Riley's voice almost sounded frantic as she tried to keep Andrew from reading her journal. Most of it was just everyday stuff that happened but some of it was personal.
The earlier posts were about everything that had happened to her just a few months before and after her parents divorce, and the last thing she wanted was for anyone to find out about how her father had treated her. More or less it was something she never wanted to be brought up, ever.

Once she was certain he hadn't read anything she didn't want seen, she mentally sighed in relief.
"Sorry, I guess I did overreact there but I'm not a real fan of anyone trying to read what I typed in that journal. As for being one of your friends, that I think I can live with."
She had meant to fake being serious when she made that last comment, but it hadn't worked like she had planned because the joking sound of her voice wasn't very hard to catch.

Riley had been looking at the website Andrew had shown her and she had to admit, it was interesting. True she'd found plenty of websites similar to this but this one was definietly the best and she made sure to remember it. However her quizzical, and somewhat suspicious, glance turned back to Andrew when he'd asked her how old she was.

"You're really into this website aren't you?" Asked Riley with a slight laugh as she looked over Andrew's shoulder at the computer screen. Just seeing the way he enjoyed it so much made her that much more curious, though she wasn't about to admit that outloud.

Riley grinned as she moved a little bit closer to Andrew so that she was literally breathing down his neck, just to see if she could irritate him.

"OK really thats annoying!" he said standing up, he logged off the computer and closed it and sat back down looking at Riley with such distane.

"Calm down I'm just teasing." Said Riley as she moved away from Andrew and sat back down in her seat.

"No there's nothing about you! There's just some, well some 'things' that happened a long time ago that I don't want out in the open."

Riley quickly turned away from Andrew so he wouldn't see the look of both sadness and anger in her gaze. Those were memories she hadn't touched for years, and just thinking about it now brought back the old fears that she had tried for so long to hide.

He stood and tapped her on the shoulder, "Dark times of your past right? I feel your pain too," when she didn't respond he sat back down and sighed, "I understand if you hate me now." He turned away and turned on the computer again.

"I don't hate you Andrew, after all you're the first person who hasn't tried to pry into things when they asked that kind of question." Said Riley as she glanced at Andrew. She couldn't be certain, but when Andrew had smiled earlier she could have sworn two of his front teeth looked different. Almost as if they were fangs.
"Yeah right, now I have to be seeing things!" Thought Riley to herself as she shoved that thought aside before it could cause trouble.

Riley did a complete double take when she it hit her what Andrew had just said. She hadn't been seeing things? How did he know what she was thinking, or better yet what did he mean by that?

"Sorry for yelling like that but, what did you mean by I'm not seeing things?"

"Didn't you say that you must be seeing things? I know your talking about my teeth so..if there is anything you want to know let me know and I'll answer all your questions." He said glued to the computer screen.

"You mean you really....but that's.....okay you have officially hit me speechless." Said Riley as she sat up on the counter and watched Andrew.
"So if you have fangs then....does that mean anything?" Riley's voice was a bit guarded as she asked her question. True it sounded a bit stupid, but she'd rather ask then make up her own conclusions.

"Well if you must know..it started about 132 years ago, I was 18 I got bitten by a vampire wich made me one also now i'm 150...just brushing out the details..anything else?" his voice the same tone never changing and saying his words carfully

At first Riley didn't say anything, instead she just listened to what Andrew was telling her,
"So you're really a vampire? And you still want to be my friend?" Asked Riley, the surprise in her voice easy to hear.

"No i'm not going to suck your blood, man i hate that myth..but yes I would love to be your friend." He turned and smiled.

"Oh don't worry I'm not freaked out about the whole blood myth thing, and I'd like to still be friends. Seeing as you're the first real friend I've had in a long time."

"Ok so your fine having a friend thats a vampire?" He asked, has anyone ever told her shes beautiful? he thought.

"Hey, if you hadn't have told me for certain I'd have never even guessed you were a vampire. Actually I think it's kind of cool having a vampire for a friend."
"Okay why's he just staring at me like that?" Thought Riley to herself, but she just shrugged the question aside without even bothering to bring it up.

"Cause I think your beautiful is that an issue?" He said. "And I'm glad you think its cool, I feel special."

"You really think I'm beautiful?" Asked Riley, the shocked tone of her voice giving away her reaction. True she had no idea how Andrew knew what she was thinking, but hearing someone call her beautiful was something she'd never heard before. In fact she bordered on not believeing it at all.

"Yes, but i guess you don't belive me. So be it, I'm not going to force you to think so, but anything else you want me to share with you?"

"Well it's not that I don't believe you, it's just kind of hard to be convinced when I've never been told I was beautiful before."

"First time for everything right? Well, its kinda hard to belive that no one has ever told you that."

"But it's true, in fact I've always been told the complete opposite. That I'd never amount to anything, and I was worthless to anyone."
Riley fully realized that she was revealing things she had never told anyone, but for some reason she felt as if she could trust Andrew. That alone made it easier to tell him things she had never told anyone.

"Well they're lying I mean your stunning, your not worthless neither god put you on this earth for a reason."

For a few minutes Riley said nothing or made any move to reply, but as she thought about what Andrew had just told her she couldn't help the small smile that played on her face.
"Thanks, I guess it helps knowing someone thinks that."

"Your welcome, when is closing time? I'm hungry."

After Riley shot a glance at the clock she realized just how late it was getting. "Actually, I can close it down right now seeing as no one seems interesting in coming in at this time of day." Said Riley as she sauntered over to the door and flipped the sign to "CLOSED".

"Oh cool," he turned off the computer and stood up streching, he took off his aprin and hung it up. "You wanna grab a bite to eat?" He asked Riley leaning on the counter.

"Sure, but it's you're choice as to where." Said Riley with a smug grin as she stood with her arms crossed in front of her.

"Alright lil miss attitude, you like sushi?" he asked doing the same stance as her.

"I do actually, if you believe it."

Riley didn't bother hiding her laughter at Andrew's imitation of her own stance, cause it was pretty funny.

"I belive ya," Andrew opens the door and lets Riley go first, "Ladies first."

"Let me guess, you trying to impress me or something?" Asked Riley in a teasing voice as she stepped outside and stood waiting for Andrew to join her.

He smiled and joined her, "Annoy you yes, impress you..not really."

"Good, cause if you were trying to impress me it wasn't working."

Before Andrew could do anything to get in some payback for her comment, Riley raced up ahead of him with another one of her smug smiles curved on her face. "So what do you have to say to that?!"

"Not much but this!" he ran up to her extreamly fast and picked her up putting Riley over his shoulder. "Ha ha I win."

"Yeah cause you cheated!" Said Riley as she managed to somewhat haphazardly place her hands on her hips while glaring over her shoulder at Andrew. However, the joking sound of her voice easily showed that she wasn't as annoyed as she tried to sound.

"Yeah whatever! How I cheat?" He set her back down.

"Actually, that was just a trick so you'd put me back down on the ground." Said Riley as she tried to look as innocent as possible, but she wasn't doing a very good job of it as the mischevious glint was still visible in her eyes.

Andrew stuck his tounge out and picked her back up, "Ha! I'm not falling for anymore of your jokes!"

Riley shrieked as Andrew picked her back up again. "Okay okay I admit it you won!" She said as she shot Andrew an irritated look, but she wasn't really that annoyed. Still she wasn't going to tell him that!

"Ok good, and I know your really not irritated why do you think I did it again?" Cause i have a mad crush over you

"You tell me!" Demanded Riley as she tried to sound serious, but it wasn't working very well.

"Er...I rather not answer that, Anyway! Here we are," he put her down and smiled like the dork he is.

"Oh no you're not getting out of that easily! You were thinking something weren't you?!"
It was clear from the look in Riley's eyes that she wanted an answer, and she wasn't going to let the question go until she got one.

"Uh..I was thinking that you shouldn't be waiting to eat and starve!" He smiled again.

"Uh huh, I'm sure."
Just from that statement it was clear Riley didn't believe him, but she didn't press any furthur as they stepped into the building.
"I wonder if he said that because he likes me or something." thought Riley to herself and though she quickly dismissed the thought that didn't stop a faint blush from staining her face at the idea.

Andrew sat down at a booth, "You do know I can read your thoughts right? So no need to think anymore," He said smiling. "And maybe I said something about liking you..maybe."

"Good thing I wasn't thinking something rather unpleasant then." Said Riley as she slid into the booth right across from Andrew.
"And as for liking me, that I might find surprising."
Riley almost let her thoughts slip to what she wanted to say, but she quickly blocked that thought from her mind. There was no way she was going to let Andrew know what she'd been about to think right then. Because she found it rather hard to believe that she was beginning to like Andrew herself.

He smiled, "You like me don't you? Don't lie, cause I know ya do!"

"Hey I didn't say or think anything like that!" Said Riley as she attempted to keep up a serious facade, while trying to hide the blush that once again stained her face.

"Ok..sure I'll find out," he smiled and looked at the menu.

"Maybe but that doesn't mean I'll make it easy for you to find out."

He puts the menu down and looks at her, "So you do like me?"

"Maybe, maybe not it'll take more then that to get an answer out of me."

"Would a huge hug help? Or a free lunch? A puppy? Anything I can't handel the saspance!"

"You know you sound so cute when you're desperate." Laughed Riley in amusement. So maybe she was enjoying herself a bit more then she planned, but at this point she was having to much fun to really care.

"Welll....maybe I do." Said Riley as she glanced down in an attempt to hide the fact that she hadn't completely told the truth. Okay so yes she did like Andrew, but at the same time she was a bit hesitant to get close to anyone. As for reasons why, those were known only to Riley herself.

Riley shot Andrew a glare that cleary told him to cut with the singing before she decided to use him for target pratice.
"And as for what I'm planning on getting, I normally just go for a combination. Makes things more interesting, especially if you know anyone who hates sushi."

"Ok, fine don't enjoy my singing...fine. So," He said streching, "Is there anything at all you want to get off your chest that you can trust me with?"

"There is actually, but I can't really tell you as much as show you."

She couldn't believe she was doing this, and even now she still felt some resignation about what she was deciding to do. Still she felt as if she had to show him what she'd been hiding for so many years, she just hoped her decision didn't come back to haunt her later.

"Well besides talking to people on Myspace I do read alot, but only if I happen to like the book, and I have done some painting before. Though I'm not exactly the best artist in the world."

"On who? You got any older siblings or something?"

"Actually no, I've never had any brothers or sisters. I just keep to myself much of the time because every person I've ever met only wanted to pry more into things I didn't trust telling them."

Just from the tone of her voice it was clear there was more to the story then she was telling, but what exactly was unknown.

"Oh trust me, you keep working with me and you will cause she owns the store. That's why I pretty much have free reign there." Said Riley with a matter-of-fact tone to her voice.

"Oh cool then, should I tell her I'm a vampire too?"

"You may not want to say anything just yet about that, at least not for the time being. I know it's a bit strange asking that but just trust me alright?"

He looked at her, "Ok, I trust you. So..about your dad are you in with any contact of him?"

"No, and I don't want anything to do with him either."

"Oh sorry for asking..had a dark pass with him I'm guessing,well hmmm..whats your favorite color..i'm a big huge fan of pink!" he said trying to cheer her up.

For a few minutes, Riley said nothing until she suddenly started laughing.
"You have got to be kidding! I mean yes I have a favorite color, actually I like both blue and purple pretty much equally."

"No i'm not kidding! Pink is also a very manly color," he smiled.

"Do you know how funny that sounds coming from you?"

"As funny as saying do these pants make me look fat?"

"Or the whole apron incident earlier, now that was hilarious!"
Riley couldn't help but start laughing at that memory cause it had been pretty funny.

"That means you found it just as funny as I did!" Said Riley, looking equally as smug.

"But making fun of a mans figure isn't funny."

"Did you just hear what I said? I wasn't making fun of you cause if I was, you'd know it!"

"I was joking but..now that we are on this subject.." he said pulling out some chopsticks, "I challenge you to a chopstick war!"

"A chopstick war? Well that's something I've never done before." Said Riley as she eagerly grabbed her own pair of chopsticks.

"Ok its kinda like star wars right? So you just try to stab me and I'll try to stab you, first person with 3 stabs wins ok?"

"You're on my friend!" Said Riley as she smiled in anticipation.

"I warn you I'm a black belt in ass kicking," He laughed trying to stab her.

"Oh really? Well just so you know, I'm no novice either!" Said Riley as she dodged then moved to stab Andrew.

"Ahh! Cheater!" he said moving out of the way. "Hiya!" he cried trying to stab her once more.

That small distraction was enough for Andrew to get in a hit, and from the look on Riley's face she was going to get some revenge for that.
"Alright, now you're in for it!" She said as she made another stab at Andrew.

"Woo hoo!" He cheered, "1 point andrew zip for Ri-lay!"

While Andrew was celebrating his small victory, Riley saw her opportunity and moved in for a stab.
"Now whose got the point!" She said smugly.

"You." He said frustrated. "But I got a point first!" He said poking her forhead. "Haha! Two points!"

Riley shot Andrew an annoyed look, but then another one of her sneaky ideas shot through her mind.
"Hey what's that?!" She exclaimed as she pointed over Andrew's shoulder, and once she saw her opportunity she stabbed him with her own chopstick.

"OoOoOoOoOoO you stole my own trick!" He said shocked, "Ok two to two..who will win?" Andrew waved a chopstick one way and poked her the other way. "And the croud goes wild!"

"You know i'm going to get you back for that don't you?" Asked Marisa as a she gave Andrew a look that clearly showed she would think up something rather unpleasant to pull on him if given the opportunity.

"Sorry, but I'm not that sneaky and that was waaay to funny sounding to be sane!" Said Riley as she once again broke out into a fit of laughter.

"Awww come on you know I'm not making fun of you!" Said Riley as she stood up from her seat and slid in next to Andrew while placing an arm around his shoulders.

"Thank you," He said sounding like he just finished crying. "I'll be okay.." he laughed.

Though Riley was trying to sound annoyed, the teasing tone to her voice didn't help the effect all that much.
"Now that I think about it, he is really cute....oh crap!!!" Riley immediately stopped her train of thought once she remembered that Andrew could read her thoughts, while hoping he hadn't caught on to what she had been thinking right then.

"Oh well that makes me feel better." Said Riley in a somewhat sarcastic tone, even though she was smiling slightly at the thought of Andrew thinking she was cute.

"Good, well this is nice." He said putting his arm around her, "Just us girls hanging out." he joked.

"Don't you mean just two best friends?" Asked Riley as she slid closer to Andrew once he placed his arm around her.

Though she tried her best to hide it, Riley couldn't help but cringe slightly when Andrew touched her hair. However, as he continued to stroke her hair, she felt herself growing more comfortable with the gesture.
"You know, you're the first person I've ever let touch my hair like this."

He suddenly snapped back to reality, "Huh? Oh, uh nothing, nothing at all.." He said looking down, blushing.

"Cause you caught me off guird when I was thinking about somthing.." he replied trying to stop himself from turning more red.

Riley gave him a pleading look while making it appear she was going to be upset if he didn't tell her. Considering how many times Riley had pulled this look, she could definietly be considered dangerous when she used it.

Andrew returned to his normal voice, "Well sheesh..I was just thinking about how beautiful you were ok?" He looked at the floor and turned red.

Riley couldn't help but laugh at the expression on Andrew's face, even though she tried her best not to laugh at all.

Instead of answering right then, Riley just burst out laughing.

This time it was Riley's turn to look rather surprised at the question. However, that didn't stop the smile that played on her face as she moved closer to Andrew.

Andrew was redder than ever, he looked at her and leaned down. There he gently held the side of her face and kissed her softly on the lips. YES!! WHOO HOO!!!! he cheered in his head.

"Why do I have the feeling you're reeeeally happy right now?" Thought Riley, knowing full well that Andrew would hear her thoughts. In all honesty she hadn't known what to think at first when Andrew kissed her, but that vanished just as quick when it hit her that she actually enjoyed it.

When andrew pulled away he wasn't red anymore, "Cause I realllly like you." He said smiling.

"You know, this may sound weird coming from me but I'm still a little surprised that you actually like me. I mean I never really pictured falling for a vampire, or anyone even likeing me."

"Wait whoa...rewind, no ones ever liked you? I find that hard to belive..I mean well for starters your beautiful,funny, a great person and stuff like that. Thats crazy if no one has ever liked you." He said with wide eyes.

"Well it's true, as hard as it is to believe."

"Wow..some people need to open there eyes," he said still amazed.

Riley laughed slightly at Andrew's comment.
"Maybe so, I was more or less the one girl that no one really wanted anything to do with because there were plenty of other prettier girls to go after. Plus I was never very social so that didn't help the popularity points much, but then again I never really cared about being at the top of the popularity chart."

"Ok stop there..one! There is no one more pretty than you, two being popular is for hobbits and three, don't worrie about those other people they don't matter. Its all about what you think," he told her kissing her forhead.
