The Seven Princes

[Ravenheart]

Okay, basic summary time. The seven princes of the races have put aside their differences for a time and gathered at a secluded manor. A number of girls have been invited to stay with them and a ball will be held for everyone's enjoyment. They don't know it, but all the girls are there for the same purpose: the princes are each looking for the right woman to name their queen.

Basically, I give you the list of guys, you pick one and make a character to go with him.

Rules:

I don't cyber. Sex can be implied, but no graphic stuff, please.
No love-at-first-sight stuff. Let's make this interesting, ya? ^_^

Though she doesn't show it much she does have a soft side, but only people she is close to have ever seen such. However, when she does consider someone a close friend she is very loyal and wouldn't think twice about putting herself in the line of fire for someone she cares about.

So, let us begin!

The tension at the manor was so thick that afternoon you could grab a fistfull of it and keep it in a jar. Though age-old enemies had agreed to put aside their differences, it was still easier said than done.

Through all of it, Joseph appeared calm and collected... but that just meant he was thinking, or worrying, or scheming... or all of the above. Down below he could hear the sounds of the Vampire and the Lycanthrop shouting at each other, running around trying to make sure everything was in order. Behind him, he heard Tristan sigh.

"Well, things could be going worse... there hasn't been any blood yet," he observed grimly.

Joseph stood on the balcony still. His keen hearing picked up the sound of hooves and his grip on the railing tightened. Soon seven carriages would appear through the trees on the long road up to the enormous manor.

"They're here," he observed, standing up straight again just so Tristan wouldn't see him sweat.

"They're here!" Tristran echoed down the stairs. "Everybody act natural, don't scare them, and in the name of God you two, no shifting!"

Gabriel and Sharidan were looking very sheepish when they came down the elegant stairs to the third floor.

"Gaida's out in the garden, and Michael's already downstairs," Gabriel said, quickly regaining his dignity. "Aiden's nowhere to be found, but what else is new? I'll see you and the women later... in the evening."

The men looked at each other, openly nervous, and prepared themselves as if they were going into the cataclysmic battles that they'd fought so many millenia ago. But this time they were all on the same side.

"Right," Tristan sighed. "Let's go."

With that they headed to the door.

Christine's breathing was heavy, she was nervus. She looked down at her feet her hands were shaking her knees buckeling and plams sweaty. "Just breathe." she said to herself taking a deep breath.

The rough state of the road made the carriage sway with the movement of the horses, but it went unnoticed as Selena sat with her attention drawn completely to the letter she held in her hand. Pale blonde hair fell about her light purple eyes, but she just casually brushed it aside as she reread the invitation for what felt like the hundreth time since she had recieved it. It seemed that every time she read it more questions popped into her head, but one most prevailent was why would anyone want to have a ball in such a secluded area? And for what purpose? The questions continued to linger even as she felt the motion of her carriage slow then finally stop.
"Lady Selena, we've arrived." Said the all to familiar voice of the carriage driver, which was soon followed by the door being opened.
Taking his offered hand, Selena stepped out of the carriage and surveyed her surroundings. Despite being secluded the area was rather beautiful, and much different from what she was use to seeing. Still that didn't quell her own suspiciouns much as she slipped the invitation back into the inside pocket of her cloak.
"Thank you, but I believe I can continue on my own from here." Said Selena in a soft yet pleasant voice as she turned to face the driver, who by now had taken his place back on the front of the carriage. "Very well then, until we next meet." Said the driver with a nod before he shook the reins, signaling the horses to move forward.

As the sound of hoofbeats faded off into the distance, Selena took one last look up at the front of the manor. "Well, now to see what this is all about." She said to herself as she adjusted her cloak before walking up the stairway that would lead her to the entrance.

The carage stopped with a jult and Christine's stomich went plop, She got out and looked at the manor, Well your here..make the best of it. she thought.

Andrea had been drawing the whole trip there, not really worrying about the people that were there. She sighed and stop drawing when she saw the manor

Its beautiful, and appartently I'm the last to arrive what a shock. She mused

The carriage stopped and the coachman asked if he could help Andrea out of the carriage.

"No, I can do it." She replied in a soft tone.

Andrea looked around and took in the beauty of it all, flowers were everywhere with fresh morning dew on them. The tall willow trees stood unnaturally as if they were wait for someone important to arrive. She sniffed to see if it would smell as beautiful as it looked...she wrinkled her nose

It smells like there is a dog here. I really dislike dogs

As if on cue, what appeared to be a rather karge, dark German Shepherd trotted around from the other side of the carriage. He sniffed at her, whimpered, then headed toward Selena to see if she merited the same worry.

Only four, he kept thinking. Only four, only four, where are the others...

He peered up at Selena and nuzzled her hand in typical canine fashion, an almost human worry in his eyes.

((Yeah, Sharidan's an actor... and long posts are good. I am a HUGE supporter of long posts :D ))

Andrea wrinkled her nose at the sight of the dog.

I just hope he stays away from me

Since they hadn't gone inside yet she sat down and began to draw...She drew the dog and Selena. There was really nothing else to draw

Feeling a nudge on her hand, Selena glanced down to see what looked to be a German Shepherd, and he was looking up at her as if waiting to see how she would react.
"Well hello, you certainly came out of nowhere." Said Selena with a slight laugh to her voice as she kneeled down and gently stroked the German Shepherd between his ears.

Christine saw a girl with a dog and desied she might as well talk to someone to calm her nearvs, "Hi," She said to the girl petting the dog. She stroked the dog a few times herself.

A little gust of wind kicked up, and Gaida deftly appeared behind Rose. She didn't notice him he was far too still. He peered over her shoulder, closer, closer, until he was almost at the edge of her vision.

"Hello!" he announced cheerfully, hoping to jump her.

Sharidan noticed Gaida just then, yelped, and ran back for the house. If Jo and Tris knew that they'd ignored them again there would be trouble, and Gaida didn't know what 'subtle' meant...!

"Woah!" Rose cried out, clearly startled. She went down, expecting to be ever so happily embraced by the hard floor. Her book flew out of her hand, landing on the floor with a thud.

Christine picks up the book the girl dropped and handed it to her, "This is a really good book your reading." she said smiling.

Rose got up and accepted her book back. "Uh... Thanks," she replied quietly. She straightened her dress out, embarassed.

Gaida laughed, taking the book from her and examining it for a moment. He handed it back to her with a smile.

"Good reading," he agreed. "If you like that, you should see the library. Ah, but where are my manners?" he suddenly threw on a bad imitation of an upper-class english accent. He took her hand and bent to kiss it. "Mistress Rose, I presume? A pleasure." He did. Then he stood up again with the same shameless grin as before. "I'm Gaida."

Rose blushed deeply. "N-Nice to m-meet you," she stuttered, "W-Would you mind showing me where the library is?"

"Gladly," he said, leading the girls farther inside. "There's some formalities to get through first though. Introductions, checking your invitations... Tris is a bit stiff like that. But you'll find out who he is. All of us, for that matter."

Gaida brought them along a long, elegant hall with flowers in vases all along it, portraits of unknown people staring out at them with knowing smiles. It finally ended, leading into a parlor with two large couches and some arm chairs, an empty fireplace and a couple of tables. The room was clearly designed for entertaining guests in the evening, or just looking over the garden in the afternoon as they were now.

Standing by the large window was a young man with bright blue eyes, his hair somewhere between silver and gold. He smiled at them, gave Gaida a look that no one could discern but him, and gestured for the girls to sit.

"I'm glad all of you could come," he said as Gaida came to his side. "I'm Tristan, I'll be one of your hosts during your stay here."

With perfect timing four other gentlemen entered and, after nodding repectfully to the ladies, took their seats and introduced themselves. Tristan, Joseph, Aiden, Gaida, Sheridan, and Michael.

"Tell us a bit about yourselves," Tristan said.

"Rose," she said quietly. Her vision shifted downwards, as if she found the floor interesting.

Andrea looked over at the girl, she seemed to be interested in the floor. It was pretty but, there were better things to look at...

"Rose..." she questioned in a quiet voice

"H-Hai?" Rose answered, forgetting that these people were not japanese. She had a habit of saying a little bit every now and then, since she watched too much anime and read too much manga.

She smiled slightly at her

"You speak some Japanese too? I thought I would be the only one, I read wayyy to much manga...Oop, almost forgot the reason I called you" She took out her sketch book and pencil

"Uhh..would you...like..uh...to be...my friend? It seems like you and I would get along...right?"

Andrea was actually nervous because she never really had any friends...and the ones she did havve, were forced on her.

[Cristyll]

Rose smiled, though it was miniscule. She was a total bookworm, and her social life is that of a nerd's. "Sure," she answered, "I love manga and anime too."

Andrea slightly laughed, for she too loved manga...she had never watched anime before though. She sat down next to Rose

"Umm, I've never seen any animes...I have heard them but, never seen them" she smile slightly.

Andrea turned to her new friend and started to sketch her

I hope by the time this is over I have everyone in my sketch book...

Christine sat on a very large couch and flipped threw a book that was on the side table next to her.

Selena sat calmly in her seat, apparently unfazed by anything happening around her.
"My name is Selena, and as for anything about me there isn't much to tell." She said as she gazed at the other girls, and the few guys, who were present.

Rose waited patiently for the introductions to be over, so that she could indulge herself in the glory of books. She stared down at her own book, wondering when she'd be able to finish it.

[Cristyll]

"I guess there isn't much about me.... I already told you guys that I like manga and anime. I guess like any other kid, I like video games and computers and TV.... I guess that's not really ladylike is it?" Rose said quietly, chuckling a bit.

"Hey don't feel bad I play video games too," Christine smiled at Rose. "Pretty good at Final Fantacy really."

[Cristyll]

"Heh..... Final Fantasy is awsome. I actually tried learning Al Bhed when playing FF10. I think I have it memorized.... Let's see.... Rao! Tu oui ghuf fryd E ys cyoehk?" Rose said.

"Heh..al bed has got me all confused!" She smiled, "So what did you just say?"

[Cristyll]

"I just said 'Hey! Do you know what I am saying?'" Rose answered, "I could teach you if you want." She was happy that she could have a nice conversation without stuttering.

Selena couldn't help but laugh softly to herself as she listened to the conversation between the other two girls. Not that she was trying to be rude or anything, she just always enjoyed listening to others talk more then talking herself.
It was more or less her way of getting to know people in a much quicker way, which was something she had to use often in the past.

"I just said 'Hey! Do you know what I am saying?'" Rose answered, "I could teach you if you want." She was happy that she could have a nice conversation without stuttering.

"That would be cool thanks!" She grinned.

I personaly think that Final Fantasy VII and IX were the best...She thought to herself

She had stoped drawing the girls and replaced her sketch book with a hard cover book. The cover was very worn and slightly torn in the corners. It was clear that she had the book for a very long time. The title was slightly faded.

'The White Wolf of Hartz Mountain...' A Werewolf story...

Since no one else was talking she thought she would say something, "Anyone here 'sides me play sports?" She asked.

Andrea smapped her head up at the question that was generally asked

"I fence and swim. Does that count?"

"Yeah, I swim too..football every now and then but yeah it counts."

[Cristyll]

"I find great joy in skiing," Rose said. She remembered back at her first attempt to ski. She would always fall down. Thinking back, she chuckled. It was hard to think that that timid girl is now about the level of a pro.

"You play football? Not to be rude but isn't that a guys sport?"

"Oh my mistake," She smiled, "Touch football, not takel..bad memorie with that." She shook her head. "Yeah its a guy sport but its really fun to play."

Andrea nodded in agreement, she turned her head towards the boys in the room

Rose yawned quietly. She had stayed up late at night to read again. She knew she was going to regret that habit one day. Today just happens to be it.

"Well with how huge this manor is, I'm fairly sure there's bound to be a pool here somewhere." Said Selena, who up until now had remained silent but had finally decided to enter in on the conversation.

Andrea jumped slightly, she had forgotten she was there. She sweat-dropped

Rose sweat-dropped and smiled weakly at Andrea's actions.

Selena was apparently unfazed by Andrea's reaction to her speaking, or if she was she didn't show it.

"Oh for goodness sake just because I don't talk much doesn't mean you have to jump when I do say anything."

Andrea jumped shlightly again

"S-Sorry, I kinda forgot that you were there. Heh, my aplogizes" she got up and blowed, the sat back down

"It's perfectly alright, you didn't offend me or anything like that. I just don't like people being jumpy around me that's all." Said Selena as she smiled slightly at Andrea. She might not be the most social person in the world, but Selena definietly didn't like anyone feeling nervous or edgy around her. Then again with all the times that had happened before she could never understand why she wasn't use to it, but that was a questions she had never bothered figureing out how to answer.

Andrea nodded and turned back to her book

I dont feel like reading it anymore...I feel like drawing again

Andrea preceed to take out her sketch book and began to draw random things

Selena felt her breath catch in her throat as she gazed around at the area where they had been led. "Wow....this place is gorgeous!" She thought to herself as she walked around the edge of the pool, her eyes locked on everything there was to see. However, what caught her attention the most was the immense variety of tropical plants and flowers that lined the reconstructed ruins.
"This is, definietly different then what I've seen before." Said Selena to herself as she took a pale lavendar flower and twisted it into her blond hair before moving on to explore more of the area.

As she walked along the edge of the pool, Selena noticed that one of the girls (Star) was sitting in a chair by herself. Deciding to take a bit of a chance she rarely took, Selena walked over to the girl and sat down in the chair next to hers.

"You're name's Star right?" Asked Selena in a soft voice as she gave the girl a friendly smile.

Selena couldn't help but laugh lightly at the memories that comment brought back. True she'd improved on remembering things but sometimes she did slip up, and that was the one thing she wanted to avoid for the moment.

Rose sat in a lawn chair, no where near the water. Being withing three feet of it scared her.... It brought back bad memories...

As the two laughed a bit, Selena couldn't help but notice the color of Star's eyes. They looked to be a few shades darker then her own, but since any shade of purple was a rather uncommon it had definietly sparked Selena's interest.

"You know, this may sound strange coming from me but I just noticed that you have a very nice eyecolor. I've never met many people with eyes in any shade of purple before."

Christine finally got her dress out of the thorn bush, she reached into her dress and pulled out a pocket knife where she cut off most of her dress so it only stopped at her knees. "Ahh so much better," she said taking off her shoes and putting her feet in the water relaxing.

A sudden blur of motion heralded Michael, Gaida, and Sharidan's arrival. They ran from seemingly nowhere and cannonballed into the pool, threatening to splash the girls.

"Don't worry, we don't let the sharks out until later," Sharidan laughed, shaking the hair out of his face in a very dog-like manner as he swam over to Christine.

"Yeah, and they wouldn't eat a pretty girl," Michael agreed. "Okay, maybe just nibble on your toes a little..."

"Mike, you ass!" Gaida snapped good-naturedly, pelting a beach ball at his head. "Seriously, you guys coming?"

"Sh-sh-sharks?" Christine said with wide eyes. "Please tell me your joking..."

"Of course he's joking," Gaida said, rolling his eyes after narrowly dodging the beach ball. "There's scarier things around here than sharks. Take Jo for example."

"He's a little... dark," Sharidan explained. "But you get used to him."

She laughed, "Wow, I didn't catch your names by the way."

"I'm Sheridan," he said, then pointed out the other two. "Ponytail over there's Gaida, and the one being beaten up with a beach ball is Michael. Tristan's the tall, blond uselessly pretty boy, Joseph's the goth, and Aiden's the one who looks like he bathes in bleach. Then there's Gabriel too, but he doesn't come out until later. He's- ouch!"

The beach ball collided with the back of his head.

"Light sensitive," Michael cut in.

Selena couldn't help herself as she burst out laughing when the beach ball collided with Sheridan's head.

"Sorry for laughing like that but, that was just too funny!" Selena finally managed to say between her fits of laughter.

"Nice hit!" She gave a thumbs up to the guy that hit him with the beach ball. "Cool, nice to meet you." she said smiling looking back at Sheridan.

"It was kind of funny..." Sheridan admitted.

"No it wasn't!" Gaida shouted, leaping out of the water. "Shame on you!" and he pushed Selena and Christine in.

Tristan ran out quickly to stop the mayhem. "Hey, leave the girls-"

"You too!" Gaida grabbed him by the ankle and yanked him in.

((Yeah, those three are kind of the comic relief team. They balance out Aiden, Gabe, and Jo.))

Selena shrieked as Gaida shoved her into the water, but once she resurfaced besides the coughing she was shooting a glare in his direction.
"Alright, now you're in serious trouble!" She said threateningly as she grabbed a beach ball and hurled it straight at Gaida before climbing out of the pool.

Christine came up for air and laughed, "Well arn't you nice?" She said looking at Gaida.

Rose watched the scene, amused. She sat in the lawn chair, huddled up into a ball, staring with trance-like eyes.

Gaida flinched, took a beach ball to the arm and hopped out of the pool, bending over in front of Rose to look her in the eyes.

"Cheer up," he ordered with a grin. "Or you're next."

Michael floated over to Christine. "Gaida's just psycho like that. He's one of the crazier members of our gang here."

"Which is saying something," Sharidan agreed.

Meanwhile, Tristan hauled himself out of the pool and stalked inside. "Dinner's coming up!" he warned. "These idiots will help you find your rooms." He was smiling, though. Then he disappeared, suddenly. Or was it just a trick of the light?

The boys and girls, meanwhile, continued their mayhem as the sun sank lower on the horizon.

"Okay, okay!" Rose chuckled, though it was only the surface. Inside, she was having nightmares while awake. She put on a fake smile, "I will but don't get me near water! I can't swim." Well.. It was one reason. Half the truth. I might regret not telling anyone, she thought.

"Time to learn," Gaida announced. He picked her up maiden-style and jumped in with her. He was careful, though, and kept her floating with her head clear above the water.

Rose's eyes grew wide. Her body was wet. Small waves lapped at her neck. The memories flooded back. She froze. She didn't even breathe. She became stiff as a corpse that already went through rigor mortis.

Andrea stepped back and let Gaida take Rose from her. She sat down on the side of the pool again, now looking at her wet clothes.

After her thought had ended, she dived into the pool only to end up right beside Sheridan, she looked up at him

Rose was slightly soothed by Gaida's kind words, but she clung to him. "I-It's not so much that I'm afraid to drown... It's what happened...," she whispered.

"Hey," he said. "Andrea, right? Like volleyball?" he spun the ball on his fingetip and tried to look smooth. And then he met the waterfall and was shoved underwater by the gallons of it pouring down on his head. He swam out again and gave her a sheepish grin.

He deemed it good, nodded, and then snapped back to reality again. "Now, it's no good if you don't have fun with it," he said. And then he became more serious. "You don't have to explain if you don't want to. But if you do I'll... you know... listen," he finished lamely. There was an awkward pause. "I know, I know, I'm no good at this. Selena just rolled her eyes as another light smile curved her lips. She honestly had more fun watching others then getting involved in the craziness herself, which was one thing many people could never understand about her.
She just loved watching people, and maybe that's why she was a bit more observant then others. Selena certainly did have a habit of catching on to things much faster then anyone would believe, and often that had been an advantage she would use liberally. However, at the current moment it was more for enjoyment that she kept her attention on what was happening around her.

"I guess I can tell you...... Maybe it'll feel better...," she murmured. "My family and I were on a vacation to the beach in Florida. Overall... it was pretty fun. My brother was teaching me how to swim out in the ocean.... A storm swept overhead and the waves became bigger... My brother swam me back to shore, but before he could get out, a wave got to him. His head never came up.... It's slightly cliche, I know, but it's the truth," Rose explained quietly.

Gaida forbid himself to think on her last sentence. He put it from his mind.

"I can promise you," he said, "that's not going to happen to you... not while I'm around."

"What? Never!" Sharidan was laughing nervously. "It's just that I didn't want you to hold anything back..."

"Hey!" Tristan called, dry and looking polished as usual. He emerged from the house with a look of surprise- the girls looked mostly unruffled by the antics of the three troublemakers. "Dinner's about ready. Girls, your locker room's over here to the left, and I'll meet you inside to show you where your rooms are if you want to clean up a bit. These idiots didn't give you any trouble, did they?"

Rose smiled. "Thank you Gaida," she said. She turned her head as Tristan came out. She chuckled at his announcement. "Gaida was fine," she called out to him. She got out of the pool, tried her best to ring out the water from her dress, and headed to the locker rooms.
She changed into jeans with elegant rhinestone swirls on the bottom left pant leg and at the top right. She put on a black, long-sleeved shirt under a blue T-shirt that said "Give me chocolate, or give me death!".
She headed into the dining room. She inhaled deeply. "Dinner certainly smells good!" she exclaimed, grinning.

"No, no trouble actually." Said Selena as she stood and walked towards the locker room, but not before shooting Gaida a look that clearly said she'd pay him back later for shoving her into the water.
Once she entered the locker room she quickly found an outfit she liked. The shirt was a light lavender halter top with a sliver vine and rose design decorating the bottome hem of the shirt, and instead of pants she had opted for a simple white skirt that just touched the top of her knees. Then, after grabbing and slipping on a pair of silver sandals, she made her way into the Dining Room.
"Hm...looks like the other guys aren't here yet." Said Selena to herself as she stood to the side and waited for everyone else. In all honesty she was a bit curious about meeting the remaining men that she had yet to see. However, she wouldn't admit that to anyone unless she felt like it and right now she decided to keep her thoughts to herself.

[Cristyll]

Rose noticed Selena and grimaced. "Skirts... Hate them. No offense though... My mom had to force me into that freakin' dress," she said.

"None taken, and in a case like that I could understand why you'd hate them. I guess for some reason I just find them rather comfortable at times." Said Selena as she turned her attention to Rose. It really hadn't bothered Selena that this girl didn't like dresses or skirts, everyone was entitled to their own opinion on things and she certainly wasn't going to be offended by that simple comment. Now if she'd had the feeling that Rose was being critical then she might have had a problem with it, but she knew that wasn't the case so there was no need in getting worked up about things.

Aiden entered the dining room only to find that the women were already there. He tensed as he saw them, then put on an air of confidence as he entered the room. He didn't like to judge by appearance, but the one called Selena seemed like an agreeable type.

"Good evening," he said politely, bowing slightly to both she and Rose. "I'm Aiden. Miss Rose, I presume? Gaida speaks highly of you."

He then turned to Selena. "But I don't believe any of us have made your aquaintence yet miss...?"

Meanwhile...

Tristan had known Star for what she was even before she came here. The trick was to offer her what care she needed without letting on that he knew. He knocked lightly on her door.

"Star? It's me, Tristan."

Rose flushed a bit. "G-Gaida?" she stuttered. She could practically feel the heat rise to her cheeks. I need work on that..., she thought.

Selena bit back her laughter at Rose's flustered look. It didn't take much for her to tell that Rose had evidently grown rather fond of Gaida, if her reaction to Aiden's statment could be any proof of such.
