Fall of the Falcon Lord (Dark Fantasy)

Okay, figured I'd give this one a try. I keep thinking back to this one RP I was in and I thought I'd try to relive the fun and drag a few people into it with me.

This is a story of revenge. It's set in a fantasy world, the specifics of which I haven't defined yet, but moving on...

Anyhow, part of the chronology that I HAVE written is about the War of the Falcon. A powerful warrior country to the north, Alveron, was recently forced to war by a demon horde. When the armies rose to fight them they were caught between two leaders.

The army had evolved from what was once a mercenary group known as the Black Falcons. Their leader ended up as a lord and eventual king, but to the point... the powerful Falcon Lord, as he is known, was one leader. The other was his right-hand general, Liriel the Stragenchi, the Woman of the Falcons. The two leaders fought, Liriel was exiled and many of her followers chose to go with her. The Falcon Lord fought his war and won.

Three years later- Liriel has a taste for revenge. She's gathering up the remnants of her people and is preparing to march. Word has it that the Falcon Lord's own people become more and more oppressed, and that he himself is having thoughts of conquest. Rather than see him inflict more cruelty she's decided that now is the time to fight him again. This story follows her and her companions in their effort to take back what is theirs.

NOW, onto characters.

There's some already existing. I'll be playing Liriel. The others are...

The Falcon Lord- his real name is Kale Bek. He's prone to unpredictable bouts of either extreme violence or extreme kindness. He seems to have fallen in love with his own legend.

Kanashii Ga-ru- A wild elf and the lover of the Falcon Lord. She was sent into exile after Liriel. She's a romantic girl who wants nothing more than for all to be at peace again. However, she's a vicious fighter when provoked.

Jerek- One of Kale Bek's generals, he's a shapeshifter that served with Liriel and faced the consequences. He's somber and honorable, but loves to laugh as much as anyone else.

Kanari Zevyrna- A samurai woman, and the wife of Jerek. Liriel stayed with her Jade Lily clan for some time before she began to plot her revenge. Kanari also has a sword with His name on it...

Sharidan- An assassin and spy who used to work for Kale Bek, but also faced a willing exile. He's a bit eccentric, but a generally well-meaning person.

Nobody get me wrong- this is not a story that revolves around one character. It's one character who's started the story for others to help make. When I played through this it happened one way. But ultimately you will decide where this story goes.

Bio: Kentana grew up in a noble household; not high-place nobility, but noble nonetheless. She specifically grew up in the "warrior woman" tradition, training in combat. She was an only child, and thus needed to be able to defend the land she would someday inherit. Problems arose when her parents sided with Liriel in the conflict.... Their family was ultimately exiled, and Kentana's parents later killed in the initial conflicts. She has thus sworn to take back her family's lands and restore her family to its original place of pride. Thus, she has dedicated herself to supporting Liriel in her rebellion in any way possible. Kentana is a stoic young woman, often somewhat taciturn, though occasionally glimpses of the upbeat, energetic girl she was before her parents died will come through, and trusted friends can bring out this lighter side. Just because she is engaging in vengeance doesn't mean she's utterly ruthless, however; rather, the thought of even accidentally emulating those she seeks to take down sickens her, and she operates as ethically as is possible in a situation such as this one.
Looks: Kentana isn't a large young woman, but she is by no means petite, either; a good word to describe her would be "compact." She has wheaten-colored blonde hair, almost a very light brown, and vibrant golden eyes. Her skin is quite pale, and she typically wears her hair in a thick braid down her back. Her visage usually bears a stoic expression, and she most often dresses in attire suitable for battle. Bio: Kanashii had a rough upbringing and lived as a theif for a long time in the cities. When her caretaker, the head of the theives guild died, she was sold as a slave to keep her from taking over. She passed through many owners until she was taken to the castle Slathinir where the Falcon Lord freed her and made her a maid. When the romance between he and his apprentice failed, she comforted the man who had shown her such care, and the two soon became lovers. The wedding was on the horizon when the war broke out. Knowing that Kanashii was a powerful figurehead, enemy spies kindled rumors that Kanashii had been disloyal to her lord and love, and she was sent into exile by the man she loved most. Liriel followed shortly thereafter, and by the war's end the Falcon Lord's cruelty to them made them the head of a revolution. Kanashii was crushed by her exile, and her heart still swears alligence to Kale Bek. But the best way she knows to get back to him is for Liriel to win the war. She's kind-hearted and romantic, but nothing short of vicious when provoked... which takes a lot.

Magic: Lightning, and a rather nasty arsenal of magics used for... let us say 'persuasion.' ("Friendly?" "Decidedly not.")
Bio: Liriel was born to a warrior people, but her human blood kept her from becoming as strong as them. Doomed to a life of magic studies if anything, she left home at 23 to make her way among humans. The short version (a detailed account would take too long, and characters can ask for more info later) is that she met the Falcon Lord while she was still inexperienced, and he made her the powerful warrior she is today. She rose through the ranks and quickly became his right-hand and one of his top generals. She had everything with him that she could never attain in her homeland: respect, admiration, loyalty, people to care for her... nobody knows the details, but somewhere along the line Liriel became hardened and grim, yet never lost her kind heart. Her unwavering resolve in battle, her benevolent nature to those under her command and to the serfs on her land, and her newfound charisma made her a great leader. She wasn't aware of the power she held until her exile, which brought her to her knees and nearly to her death from the greif. Afterward she heard of the revolt that had begun and what measures had been taken to suppress it. Though she would have laid down her life for Kale Bek before, she now lives to end his tyranny and take back what should be hers. Liriel is withdrawn around all but those closest to her, and can come off as cold. Inside she's very passionate and even soft... but never weak. Never again.

The setting is an inn, where most good adventures start (sorry, D&D person...), a bit like the Prancing Pony from LotR, but not as grimy-looking. It's a drizzly, cold night, and the warmth within becons weary travellers passing through the bustling little town of South Haven, just Haven to the locals. Though once a military town, it's settled nicely into the life of a quiet trade village, and nobody comes bearing arms unless they're planning to sell them or take them elsewhere in the morning. What a place for a revolution to start...

It was a cold, dreary night, and Liriel sat alone sipping her wine as she had done for the past... years now, she realized. Years since she'd last laid eyes on Slathinir, since she'd heard the cries of her warriors at their training, or just known the feeling of the tilled earth beneath her feet in the land around her manor.

She ran a hand absently along the grain of the wood in the table, her green eyes scanning the crowd for anyone of interest. The tables were filling up. The regular crowd had already come, and now the late travellers and adventurers were wandering in. she smiled sadly beneath her dark hood, remembering when she was one of those faces. What stories would this tide of travellers bring, she mused?

Kentana finally let the hood of her cloak slip back as she entered the inn, light from the lamps catching on her wheaten hair. The informants told me here, she thought. This was where she would find Liriel.... It had been a search of some time, finding out where to locate the rebel's leader. But find her she did... eventually.
Kentana signalled to the barkeep, purchasing a tankard of ale. She quietly sat down at a table near the fireplace, sipping her drink as she surveyed the rest of the crowd. No use approaching the woman without a sound plan in mind.... It was a busy night, odd when the weather was so foul. She would make her offer of support soon enough. First, get warm and shake off some of this chill....

Itamashii walked into the inn, her long black hair was pulled back into a braid, red mixed in small streams with the black.Her thick red, black speckled eyes were outlined in fatigue as she stood in the doorway.A black tunic wrapped comfortably around her tall, slender frame and covered most of the black pants she wore.Her complexion was a light tan, her expression blank.Pointed ears were visibly and twitching as nearby conversations reached them.
Kinjirareta was sheathed acrossed her back, its pommel a thick grey saphire.Its scabbard was a dark brown, small crystals formed a rose along its side and spiraled around it.A small smirk spread acrossed her pointed face as she observed the others in the room, her legs were crossed as she leaned againgst the doorway.Her black leather boots tapped boredly upon the floor, the metal that curved around them glinted in the light.Her arms were folded acrossed her chest as she gave a sigh,does'nt seem like there's anything new.
It had been several days since she left her home, several days since she made up her mind on rebelling.She brushed her bangs from her face with her left hand, now all she had to do was find the leader of the other's who were rebelling.

Kentana quietly watched this newcomer over the rim of her mug; then again, she was watching everyone right now, carefully studying her terrain before moving. Hm. Interesting. She moves like she knows how to use that sword she's carrying.... Traveling adventuress? Mercenary? Doesn't look like a typical soldier to me.... She drank a little more of her drink. Perhaps the best approach for Lady Liriel would be the direct one. Tell her directly that the daughter of Owein and Neara of Antalos wishes to lend her sword to her assistance.

Liriel felt the back of her neck tingle and noticed she was being watched from the corner of her eye. She glanced around without moving a muscle, trying to find who was staring at her.

Whoever it is, she decided, let them come. With a dark smile she took another sip of her wine.

She knows she's being watched. Kentana saw the shift in gaze; she might have missed it, had she not been specifically studying Liriel. It was very subtle, after all. This might be a good time to make my move. She quietly rose from her table, the rest of her drink still in hand. She circled the room, steps soft, deliberately taking a circuitous route. We may not be enemies, but to win her respect I must be subtle in my approach. Instead, she deliberately moved around so she came at Liriel from the side; from the front was too direct, but from the back would indicate that she may be untrustworthy. Just hope she doesn't think I've got someone else helping me to flank her. When she achieved the table at which Liriel sat, she said, voice low and modulated, "Good evening. May I join you?"

kloud entered leaving the hood over her head not wanting to draw attention she sat in a chair near Liriel and Kentana to hear what they say but she didn't care the lead on what she had been searching for was false and she was upset about it barely keeping control over her powers

Liriel gestured for her to sit and drew her hood away from her face. "I am Liriel," she said, a knowing look in her eyes. "And yourself?"

Kentana sat down, keeping her own hood back as a sign of honesty. "I am Kentana Saxen," she said quietly. "My parents were... known to you." I shall see what her reaction is to that before I say more....

Liriel gestured for her to sit and drew her hood away from her face. "I am Liriel," she said, a knowing look in her eyes. "And yourself?"

Heh, wow, that's Kale alright... he'll have a cow if he ever catches up with me lol. But a good profile, a lovely bio... I think she should meet Kanari...

I know, that didn't make a lot of sense, but the point is this: your character fits seamlessly into this RP and I'll be happy to have you on board ^_^

after kloud cleaned up the mess she blushed and took off her hood revealing her odd colored hair which she had resently cut revealing a strange mark on the back of her neck which showed she was an elemental then she sighed and turned around "sorry I don't mean to eve's drop but are you really the Liriel that is goig against the falcon lord? why?"

Liriel recognized the girl for what she was, but didn't make any sign of shock. She had seen stranger things in her time. Her answer was a nod.

"I am she. And because he has taken all that I held dear," she explained, her voice suddenly cold. "And I will take back whatever I can. There's more to it... the matter of all those who have already fought him on my behalf... those who have fallen... I have to fight him. For myself, and for them."

Her expression softened again, a weak smile coming over her face as she turned to Kentana. "If it is your wish to join me, then I would be honored to have you at my side," she said, holding out her own elegant, but rough hand to seal the pact.

she felt nurvouse making it harder to control her powers and the fire in a near by fire place blazed up and two men walked up "you need to leave we don't want your kind here the last elemental who came here ruined this place!" one of them grabbed her arm adn she became frightened then her eyes darkened and she raised her other hand and wooded chairs flew at the two men "let me go!" the guy let her go and she stepped behind Liriel afraid they might harm her

Kentana accepted that hand, her own palm callused from long days of sword wielding, both in training and real fighting. "I am honored that you will accept me," she said gravely. "I hope that I may live up to my parents' reputation and skills."

Liriel recognized the girl for what she was, but didn't make any sign of shock. She had seen stranger things in her time. Her answer was a nod.

Alza weaved around the throngs of people who were hustling and bustling in the marketplace. The metal heels of her elegant black leather boots clicked against the old cobblestones, and the worn stones glittered in the pale moonlight.
'Why are so many people still here?' she thought, slightly angry, it was crucial for her to be alone. She entered a pub, and ordered some ale. As she took a few sips, Alza glanced around the crowded pub. A bartender was polishing some glasses with a rag, and a few people in cloaks stood in one corner, speaking in hushed voices. A voice broke her thoughts like a shattering mirror.
"Hey beautiful, can I buy you a drink?" The source of the voice was a male human, who had light brown hair and green eyes.
"I have one, in case you haven't noticed." Alza replied, put the glass on the table, gave a coin or two to the bartender, and walked out of the pub. She needed to be alone. Seeing that no one was looking, she entered an inn, and ordered a glass of red wine.

kloud looked at their cloaks and froze "I know that design you work for the falcon lord well that gives me even more reason's why I should fight against him!" they glared at her then looked at Liriel "if you take her you'll be sorry she's a dangerous kid that's why she has that mark on the back of her neck to show everyone that she's not to be trusted think wisely Liriel or you'll regret it" kloud's hand reach behind her neck and her fingers traced the mark then she stepped infront of liriel and shook her hand "I will join you because of my own reasons which I will not say not yet" then she glared at the men and they sighed and left

Kyato slipped through the doors of the castle. Quietly hussling through the forest, she came upon Liriel. Gasping for breath, Kyato managed to get out a couple of words... "Liriel...I..need...for you...to...help...me...". Catching her breath she completed the sentence. "The Falcon Lord is...m-my..father. I can't bear the punishments anymore...please help me." Kyato's eyes gave off a desperate glare. "He's so cruel to us, and I'm sick of being his maid. Now and then I'm lucky enough to train with him...like I said -that's were my skills come from..." she nodded. "Please..I can get to you every move he's coming up with! I'm desperate, please!"she shouted. Kyato fell to her knees. Her kimono slid back and her back was covered in black and blue marks. A couple of slashes of blood were here and there from the whip. Her body shook from weakness. "Please" she said once more. "Please..."

Liriel cast a hurried look around the inn and realized that they were attracting attention. She gestured for Kloud and Kentana to follow her, and she helped the young woman to her feet, leading her upstairs to the room she had rented for the evening.

"Kale's daughter, huh?" she mused. "So there was another..."

She didn't explain the comment- simply threw the door open wide for the party to enter. It was a simple, but comfortable and clean room with a bed and little fireplace, table and wide window. She laid Kyato gently on the bed, drew the curtains shut, and bolted the door. They were attracting FAR too much attention.

She hesitated a moment, fingers lingering at her own throat as she sat next to Kyato. Then she drew out a long chain, a small metal rod dangling from it. She flinched slightly as she touched it, then seemed not to notice the world around her as she pulled the strange necklace off. While unseen, the energy around her was inmistakable and she was drawing heavily upon it, beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she drew the rod along the freshest marks. It was clearly sapping the strength of the girl as well... but they were disappearing.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the tension ceased and she heaved a weary sigh. Still no explanations, she pulled her cloak off and tossed it onto a chair.

"You've come castle Slathinir?" she asked with clear exhaustion.

Liriel looked up to the puzzled looks on everyone's faces. She knew they would ask... but that was another battle to fight.

Kentana helped take this new girl upstairs without question. She had pledged her support, and thus, it was her support she would give. She knew Liriel had magical talents; she may not have met her during the original rebellion, but her parents had told her much. So the healing was not all that surprising, in retrospect. Overall it was better that they had left; far too many people were watching them. Strategies were always different, but for this instance, subtleyty and silence were the keys. "Castle Slathinir?" she asked, and said to Liriel in a whisper, "How do we know if she is trustworthy, my lady? She might be a spy."

she watched but then the back of her neck started to annoy her so she covered it with her hand "I never said my name did I? if not it's kloud but that's all the info I can give or will give until I can trust you"

Itamashii watched the scene unfold before with a careful eye, a small smirk spread acrossed her face,so that's Liriel.Her keen hearing had given her that much information and alittle more as a small uproar seemed to have started.She watched as they left the lounge,a good descision, maybe now's my chance to convey my reason for being here.Itamashii let out a small yawn, waiting for several minutes to pass before she made her move.Slowly she made her way to where she was sure Liriel and the other two went, she silently entered the room and shut the door with a faint creak.
"Exscuse, but I was hoping to have a word with you."She said softly, her gaze on Liriel."I've come to help you, but first allow me to introduce myself.I am Itamashii Viselh."Her gaze then fell on the others, but only for a moment, soon returning to the rebel leader.

She turned to Kentana, her voice a whisper also. "She doesn't bear the marks of neither his spies nor elite... and those scars never heal."

Liriel sunk into a chair by the table, her head resting in one hand. "You should rest, Lady Kentana. Tomorrow we head east before we run into trouble here. I know someone there who can help us. Kloud... I would be glad to have you."

Kentana nodded. "Yes, it is wise to move on before we attract further notice. We have already garnered too much as it is. At what time do you wish to depart?"

[Escelators'~For~Emos']

Kyato looked up. '"Unfortunately I have to leave..." she said in a low voice. "If Kale catches me, well I think you'll get what will happen" Trying to lift herself up, a bit shaky at first, but she do anyhow. "I must, sorry..."

kloud looked down "it's my fault I got scared and angery I lost control of my emotions and powers they were right I'll only make things worse!" she sat on the floor and sighed she placed her hand back on her neck tracing the mark "I wish I knew why I have this mark and where it came from and who I am"

"We depart with the dawn," she said, glancing through the crack in the curtain. "Daughter of the Falcon, if you wish to return to your father, that is your business. But I wish you wouldn't." She helped her to her feet. "The statue in the courtyard, of the creature and the woman... do you know who she is?"

Kyato looked down to her. "Liriel, I wish I would not return aswell, but my dissappearance might lead to Kyluna's death..." She thought of all the times the two had together and shook her head. "I'll come back I promise, but I can't leave yet - not without her..." Shec paused. "The statue..I shall tell you later..."

Liriel nodded solemnly. "Don't become her," she said, the words hanging ominously. "You'll find me."

She moved aside with mournful eyes and allowed her to pass to the door.

Kentana too wished this girl would not go back to the castle, but she said nothing. Someone so adamant could not be persuaded. She wondered what was meant about the statue.... I suppose I will find out in due course. "Dawn departure? That makes the most sense. I will go get myself some rest, then," was all she said. "It would do you well to do the same," she added to Kloud. "You will have more control and think more clearly after sleep."

she smiled "that's nice of you to say but even if I did sleep I wouldn't have more control I can't control my powers very good because their are connected with my emotions and because of my uncle I haven't been trained"

"Well then, we shall have to find someone to train you," Kentana observed. "Until tomorrow, then. Good evening."

she smiled then looked at lireil a little sad then looked down at her feet "he'll kill anyone who tries to get anywhere close to me that's why those two were there no one is safe with me"

Kyato nodded exited through the door. "I shall find you..." she repeated. With that Kyato ran out into the forest sliipping hthrough her castle gates. She returned in Kale's room with tea and placed it down at his feet. "Here my lord..". Kyato bowed and shuffled across the room to sit down. "I hope everything fits to your needs.." she said faking a smile.

Liriel locked up the door again and handed her bedroll to Kloud. "You can use this," she said, "but only if you cheer up." She smiled wearily. "Kentana, the bed is yours."

Liriel then shed her chain mail shirt and boots and stole a pillow off the bed. Exhaustion quickly overtook her and she practically collapsed in front of the fire, wrapping herself tightly in her cloak and drifting into sleep.

Kentana shrugged. She had been about to say "So long as you're sure," but Liriel's actions had made it quite plain that she was. So instead, all she said was "Thank you," before took off her own boots and undid her braid before going to sleep.

"Kill Liriel?" Kentana sprang to her feet, snatching up her sword as she rolled. She planted herself in front of Liriel, dropping into battle stance; all her movements bespoke of a long time spent training in combat arts. "To kill her, you'll have to get through me first." Her face set in a steely determination.

[Ravenheart]

Liriel groaned and woke, her eyes narrowed at her name and the word 'kill' in the same sentence.

"You... you must be an emmisary," she observed softly, standing with her cloak still clutched around her. She pulled out the metal rod again, a dark look in her eyes.

"Give this message to your Lord," her voice was deathly soft, like a snake before striking. She took the man's hand and pressed the rod into it.

The screams were enough to shake the frame of the inn as the man thrashed and tried to get away, but Liriel's grip held him fast. Her expression betrayed some minor discomfort, like there was a thorn in her hand, but not nearly as much as the man, who was now nothing more than a convulsing lump on the floor. Liriel finally let him go... and his entire palm was cracked and pussing with burns, the skin on his wrist bubbled and red and shining on his forearm.

"Get out," she snarled. And the man, clutching at what was once his sword-hand, cringed his way down the hall and down the stairs.

"Or not, I suppose." Kentana had not much to say about this display, but then again, she never was one to waste words. It had been impressive, to say the least. She had heard of Liriel's power, but this was even stronger than the stories had it.... "Let us hope we have no more disruptions of that nature."

"Thank you, Kentana," she said, bowing her head. When she looked to Kentana and Kloud again her eyes were emerald green, but then faded to their usual brown with humbble green flecks. "But I want him to tell whoever sent him what happened here. In the meantime we should sleep."

kloud smiled but changed her expression "he won't forgive you" she walked to a wall and punched it really hard "damn it! why can't he leave me alone first my parents then my only friends then my mentor now this?! damn him I hate him so much!" she slid to the floor and started crying

It took a moment for Kentana to remember where she was when she woke up. Dawn was just lightening the sky, tinting it with a faint rosy hue. She rolled from the bed, stretching before starting to straighten herself out. It didn't take long, but then again, it never did. The longest part of the process was putting in her customary braid. She contemplated whether or not to wake the others or let them sleep longer as she sat on the edge of the bed doing so. We did say wo would leave early, yes, but after last night's unexpected event, more rest might be in order for both of them.

Liriel was awake... moreso than she wanted to be. When she heard Kentana rise she said nothing, just waited. When all was still again she peered her eyes open and sat up, rifling through her small pack for a brush and began to pull it through her hair.

"Is it as early as it seems?" she asked with a smirk. She'd never been a morning person.

"Yes, it is. I apologize if I woke you. I tried to be quiet." She tightened the leather strip binding the end of her braid. I think I'll look for something to eat before we leave....

kloud had been dreaming about her parents death and she woke up stiffling a scream then remembered where she was and sighed

Kyato awoke in the castle. Finding herself asleep in her room, she slipped on her uniform with her other outfit underneath and hidden for when she goes to visit Liriel. Sliding her feet int oher slippers, she put on the teapot for Kale. Shuffling into his room with a tray consisting of a meal and tea, she slipped it next to his bed and bowed. "Here Master...". Kyato placed her hands infront of her dress, lockingin them in an obediant manner. "Is all well my lord?" she managed a smile. With that, Kyato moved down to the foye' and slipped out the castle gates - hoping to get to Liriel as early as possible.

Kale Bek sipped at his tea, leaning against the balcony. Life went on as usual at Slathinir, at least since...

He put the thought from his mind. Nay, today would be a good day.

There was a pounding at his chamber door. He heaved a sigh and brushed away a stray lock of his unruly black hair.

"Who goes there?" he asked with obvious irritation.

"My Lord..." a voice choked.

He hesitated over the handle. His messenger... back already? Yet he opened the door. The man collapsed, in obvious pain.

"My Lord, the rebel... yet lives..." he held out his shaking excuse for a hand.

Kale Bek couldn't speak for a moment, which didn't often happen. Liriel was alive, and stronger than ever before. And word had it there were others.

"Get out of my sight," he sneered. He didn't think it would happen, but Liriel had raised her sword to him. The Falcons were going to war.

"...Jerek's the one we're going to see. He became my blood-brother within a year of his joining," Liriel was saying, leading her dapple gray horse along rather than riding while the others walked. "I was on my way to see him when you two came along. He's about two days walk east."

The sun was up by now, filtering through the trees and dancing off the wet leaves. The road was solid enough to make travel comfortable, and the weather fair. It was as if the whole world was born anew.

kloud's uncle returned to his study and bandaged the hand as best he could and swore he'd get revenge on both kloud and lireil

"If my presence slows you down, I apologize," Kentana said in her low, moderate voice. Like most of the time, she was orderly and quite unruffled. "I do have a steed. If you do not, My Lady, I will allow you to ride mine, if you wish."

kloud thought about her uncle adn how he had destroyed her life and she became angry and the trees and plants around her started to move and vines and branchs reached out and tried to attack anything near by and a branch almost hit Kentana

Liriel patted her horse, Windrunner. "I suppose Kloud can ride with me. You make a good point... better we reach the Kashin border as soon as we can."

She smacked away a stray vine and helped Kloud onto her horse, then mounted as well.

(Kashin is the eastern continent, and it's all oriental. Nobody but the Kashini really know much about it, but Kanari was born along the border where she and Jerek live now with the Jade Flame samurai.)

"Kashin. Some distance, My Lady. I am certain we will manage, though." Kentana almost nonchalantly batted away another stray vine, scarcely looking at it. We must find a trainer for this girl, so she can control these impulses.... They're going to get her into trouble someday.

Kyato ran as fat as she could. The trees and plants shiftly moved as she dodged a vine attempting to whip her. Oh god...I don't have much time she thought to herself. Kyato saw a steed in the distance and the white cloak was famillliar. "Liriel! Kentana! Kloud" she said, faintly remembering their names as she caught up with them. Panting out of breath, she looked to Liriel. "Where shall we be venturing off? My lord...I mean Kale will be quite unsatisfied if I don not return shortly...We're not going out to far from Slathinir are we?"

kloud heard her name and snapped out of her thoughts and the plants returned to normal and kloud bit her lip and blushed "sorry 'bout that I was thinking and I guess I got a little upset"

Kentana shook her head a little. "I think 'a little upset' is a bit of an understatement," she murmured under her breath, watching the other girl approach. This was getting interesting....

Liriel halted as soon as she saw Kyato coming.

"We ride with haste to Kashin. I need you to come with me," she said with somber urgency. "There is someone there you must meet."

Liriel laughed darkly. "His last daughter, La'Andrea? I raised her. I met Kale blade-on-blade once before now, and won. La'Andrea sacrificed herself to bring him back before his soul departed this plane."

Her eyes were on the ground, but she forced a smile back onto her face. "He blamed me for her dying, but never her for loving the one who raised her. You and Kyluna will be safe, I promise."

She turned her face to Liriel, her emotion quite blank. "L'Andrea?.." she looked down to her feet, now her eyes turning with hatred. Kyato snapped back up with a raised tone, upset and confused. "She died for him!!!" a warm tear dripped from her eye. Her emotions were just confused, a little bit of jelousy and hatred mixed as one. "I ... I ...don't understand..." She fell to the ground, so confused. So misplaced. Kyato placed her hands over her eyes and the tears seeked through the creases in her fingers only to run down her bear arm...

Kentana squeezed her shoulder, gently. "I know," she said somberly. "It makes little sense. Few things in this conflict do."

Kyato thought deeply. In little sense, Kentana had knew what she was feeling. That sort of out-of-place and confused emotion. She just relaxed her shoulders back and looked up at the sky, caught in a daze of the world and what lays beyond it's barriers...

Trying to cut out Kloud's faint words, she closed her eyes, but it was just impossible. She snapped. Shouting back at Kloud, she felt a feeling of wholeness. It was good to let it all out. "Family?!!? You're not serious are you? Does your father beat you? Does he torment you and fill your head with lies? Does he keep the identity of your mother hidden? And friends?!?! My only friend is a slave who gets beaten every day! She has no family and is locked up! So give me a break Kloud!" a tear fell from her eye. She didn't regret anything she said, but maybe on the wrong person.

Kyato's eyes glared red. The wind around her started to furiously spin as she replied back at Kloud. "I rather to have no father at all then to have him beat me! You know how screwed up it makes you, not having anyone who loves you? I rather be off on my own, and you chose to go off, if I go - Kale will do the same!" , She wiped the sweat from her face and grunted under her breath. The wind still turning, skimmed the side of her cheek as it struck Kloud. The anger of her emotions waswinding the wind up.

We don't have time for this- Kentana slid down off her horse, stepping between the two fighting girls with her hands upraised. Expression stern, she said, "Just hold it, both of you. We do not have time for infighting. Yes, you have both had difficult times. You can debate the nature of it later. We cannot risk Lady Liriel an her quest by fighting now."

Kyato stopped her fighting and looked up at Kentana. "Kloud she is right, we cannot afford to lose time over our problems, its better off if we just keep going on..." she walked over by the horse waiting to leave.

Kyato walked over to Kloud and put her hand on her shoulder. "It's alright, you have friends, friends who care for you..." she smiled. "I'm sorry, you have it just as bad as I do" she walked back to the horse and awaited for Her.

"Well, now that that's settled, shall we continue?" Kentana gave both girls a quiet, comforting pat on the shoulder before remounting her own horse. She may be a woman of few words, but that did not mean she was unsympathetic.... Just businesslike.

kloud smiled but then a dagger went past her and scratched her cheek and she turned around and saw her uncle and he grinned "h-how did you find me?" "it's easy when your powers are connected to your emotions" she glared at him and drew her swords "you will die for killing my parents!" they attacked each other

Kyato looked to her, "There are some things in life that are unfair, and yet some that are fair but feel wrong.." she placed her hand on her shoulder once more. "I might not have gone through something like this, but your emotion is very bleak. You are confused, and misunderstood..." Kyato placed her hand in her palm and tried to pull her up. "C'mun hon, you have family know..." she smiled and nodded.

Liriel leaned back in her saddle and surveyed her group. A young knight, a slave, and a runaway... all exiles of their own.

She drew in a breath of the fresh morning air. Despite the yelling and the tears she could see them above it all, commanders at the head of a grand army. Their hour would come.

"We're all lost souls," she agreed, her expression one of quiet compassion. "That's why we've sought each other out. In Kashin, I hope, more of the pieces will fall into place," her gaze went breifly to Kyato. Then to Kloud and Kentana. It hadn't occured to her before now, but things really were beginning to come together.

"Shall we ride?"

Kyato glimpsed back at Liriel before taking her place aside the horse and nodding. "We shall.." she said as she began to walk.

"Ride?" For possibly the first time since they had come together, Kentana smiled. Lightly, but smiled all the same. "Yes indeed, My Lady. Let us go." She remounted her horse, flicking the reins lightly.

Many days later, near the end of the two-week journey to Kashin, the party is far from any known town somewhere between East and West. One thing that remains constant, however, is the woods, where Liriel is currently scouting for whatever food she can hunt down. Supplies are beginning to be tested- it is night, and everyone wants their dinner. Away from the road so as not to be targeted by theives or worse, the unlikely heroes have made a small camp, where they now sit around the fire, the only thing keeping the darkness at bay...

OOC: Yup, you heard me. Liriel's dashed off for awhile, you guys interact ^_^ Don't worry, it won't be just idle chatter for long... but for the next bit, I'll be narrating, you'll be starring.

Kentana smiled lightly again. It was good to see the escaped girl so much more at ease with herself.... I'm glad we helped her. She quietly took one of the offered marshmallows, skewering it on a stick without comment. I will have to forage tomorrow. This wasn't the first time she had lived off the land, nor, did she suspect, it would be the last. I will also have to find out what survival methods these two know.

Kyato had just pulled her marshmellow from the fire. There was a light brown dust around it. She bit the marshmellow from the stick and looked up to see a full veiw of Orion's Belt. It's realy lovely tonight...

Liriel returned with a few fish and herbs in hand. Her head tilted curiously to one side as she eyes the puffy things on the sticks, and the words that issued from her mouth were of another language.

"What is this?" she translated shortly afterward, standing at the edge of the light cast by the campfire.

Kyato dropped her stick in the fire, quite caught off guard. "Oh, Liriel..." she said a little bit sheepish. "Th-These? They were treats from the castle, I snook them when I left. I think he called them..uhh..marshmellows?" she said with a smile.

((It's okay, Kale mostly fed us basic stuff, but he'd import something weird every now and then too. O_O))

She sat down and picked one of the things up.

"Be you friend or foe?" she asked it, then popped it into her mouth. The Fearless Leader was surprised to find out it was light and sweet, like sugary air!

Her eyes widened. "Oh... my."

Kyato grinned widely. "These things just took all my worries away..." she looked down. "..that was until he called me in to do his dirty work and other things like that....". Kyato felt veery weird talking about Kale. She knew she was betraying him, but it was the right thing to do. Though she missed Kyunla greatly and hoped for her survival. "When.." she paused with a whisper. "When do we go back?"

Liriel skewered one of the fish, tucked some herbs into it, and began to roast it over the fire. It would be a pitiful meal, but it was at least something.

"I know someone- we can plan a hit-and-run mission as soon as we're at Kashin to get Kyunla. Kanari and I will make sure she's safe," she promised.

Kentana had dug some of her own provisions out of her knapsack. Again, they were nothing fancy, but they filled in the empty spaces. And there was no reason to expect fancy fare on the road. That was for cities. No sense in complaining. "A hit-and-run?" she commented. "I will assist in the planning, if you wish."

Liriel nodded, staring into the flames until her eyes couldn't take it any longer.

"I'd be grateful for the help," she said.

The woods seemed silent until the talking died. And then there was some sound that nobody could quite place, like it was just at the edge of hearing, distant. Liriel tensed and propped up her meal on a rock.

"Something's wrong," she stated, picking up her sword from where it sat on the ground. "We're being watched."

Kentana's hand wandered towards her own blade. "I will scout the perimeter, my lady," she said. "Unless you would rather I guard the camp site." After all, she wasn't sure how these other two would fare in combat; the one was an enigma was far as fighting abilities were concerned, and the other had power, but it was totally uncontrolled and therefore unreliable. But she wasn't going to point that out. Her eyes traced the treeline beyond them in search of any sign of trouble, entire form alert and ready to spring to action.

Kyato slipped a dagger from her side. "Wait Kentana. I wish to go too.." she said, standing up, peering around the forest, her voice strong with perserveirence.

Kentana put out a warning hand. "Someone needs to guard the camp," she said. The other girl's powers were still too unpredictable to be counted on. And she knew it would be very poor sense to leave Lady Liriel alone here except for one girl whose abilities couldn't be counted on.

Kyato bowed with agreement. She took steady watchof the campground and nodded to Kentana. "Anything for her protection.." she softly spoke.

Kentana nodded in approval. This girl, at least, appeared to mean business. "I'll go scout," she said, and took up her sword, moving away from the campfire on suddenly silent feet, watchful and wary.

Liriel, however, was on her feet with Elumina in her hand. She slowly moved away from the campfire and into the dark...

...moments later there was the sound of a scuffle. Then a sort of hissing sound. And then a twisted creature somewhere between a snake and a man burst through the brush and at Kyato and Kloud. More of them could be seen, too, headed after Kentana. Everywhere.

Ears tuned to every possible sound as they were, Kentana spun and saw the creatures charging. Her eyes widened in spite of themselves. She'd never seen any being remotely like these before.... But now wasn't the time for wondering. You couldn't figure out what they were if you got carelessly killed.... She dropped into battle stance, sword now held two-handed. The moment they were in range, she would strike. When fighting multiple opponents, it was best to fight efficiently but defensively. Be deadly, but also be careful....

Kyato's eyes widened at the creatures utmost surprising attack. She, without thinking, slid out a dagger from her back and stabbed the creature.
