This is called waterboarding;

The United States government does this to people.

who thinks we should start realy getting some info cuz i think this war is going to end soon and we need to win WHOS WITH ME

I hope you're not implying that we should use more extreme forms of torture...

Yeah, it makes people feel like they're actually drowning (physically and mentally). It's sick.

Not as sick at cutting ppl's heads off & such.
I'm sorry but I have to agree w/ him.
They don't abid by the Geneva Convention, so why should we??

He's referring to the ppl from Iraq. Here a while back, they cut off a guys head, slowly...it was sick.
I would offer to show you the video...but I doubt you'd want to see such a thing.

Not only would we lose what little sympathy we have from the UN, it would also encourage the enemy to up the anty and commit even more heinous acts. These are human beings we’re talking about- nobody deserves that treatment. That aside, people become desperate/delirious when tortured and don’t always give accurate information, so in my opinion, it’s pointless barbarism.

At least those who we tortured still have their life. The men who they kill will never see their families again. They will never experience the joy of life again.
Our men are human beings too. So if we're barbarians, then what the hell does that make them???

Ahh… I thought we were talking about the possibility of using more extreme torture.

I’m totally with you on that. The line determining what torture is “necessary” and what is atrocious is blurry, but waterboarding is certainly on the low end of the spectrum. I think it’s cruel and disgusting, but we could do much worse.

First, I don't know for sure- haven't looked it up- but I don't know if Iraq ever signed the Geneva Convention. Even if they did, the Hussein regime shot that all to hell.

However, the United States did sign the Geneva Convention. The United States is held to uphold that agreement. Torturing POWs accomplishes what exactly? Helps bust one tiny terrorist network, when there are hundreds more?

Part of what the terrorists want is for the US to get out of their countries. That's part of the reason American soldiers are dying over there. Why should America blatantly ignore that and not just get out of the Middle East?

There's no reason for torture any more and whether or not America wins the war anymore is a moot point- America doesn't even know who the hell we're fighting anymore. It's pretty much shoot-if-you're-shot-at. We (America) toppled the Hussein regime and Osama bin Laden is most likely dead, and his late second in command is confirmed dead. The end. Get out of the Middle East, America.

I forgot to add that I found the way the original post- once I hired a team of translators from all over the world to crack the jibberish that was apparently (at one point) a coherent idea- stuck the method of scalping to Native Americans as incredibly racist.

It was also blatantly ignorant, seeing as scalping was a Western European method at its heart.

Okay..I'm half & half on what you just said.
I DO agree that we should be out of Iraq already.
I wasn't implying that I wanted us to stay, if that's what you thought.
But it's not right for us to hold back & treat men like royalty who killed our troops & even their own ppl.
We put them in nice little cells, give them 3 meals a day.
And what do they do to our men if they're caught??
They behead them. They torture them. They KILL them.

And you think we should sink to their level? No. That only perpetuates the cycle. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

I think they were talking about current detention methods the US is using in the Middle East and is saying that it's horrible and agrees with you and I. Correct me if I'm wrong.
